Chapter 1: Future Messages and Travelers

Ozpin liked to think that it took a lot to surprise him. Being a renowned huntsman such as himself, he has experienced a large array of weird and unexpected events that he has learned to expect the unexpected. And should the unexpected take him unawares, he has learned to be able to adapt quickly and analyze the situation at hand to quickly counter whatever may have surprised him.

That being said, the current situation he has found himself in was almost enough to surprise him had he not been well versed in the vast strangeness that has been occurring around him lately.

"I see that you are still calm despite the situation that you find yourself in. It is good to know that it takes a lot more to unnerve a man like you." The man currently in front of him states.

Taking his precious cup of coffee and taking a sip of the sweet nectar inside the cup, he lets the warm liquid travel down his throat before putting his now empty cup down on top of his desk. He closes his eyes and focuses on the soothing sounds of the gears inside his office to help calm the erratic thoughts currently plaguing his mind. He slowly opens his eyes and while adjusting his glasses he turns to look back at the man in front of him.

"That shouldn't come as a surprise to you if what you say is true" He says eyeing the man in front of him.

The man smiles and takes a quick sip from his own cup before addressing him again "True for who knows you better than yourself. Isn't that right me from the past?"

Ozpin takes this time to study the man or, if he is to be believed, his future self. He looks at the obvious signs of old age the man sports such as the visible wrinkles in his face and the less than appreciated bald spot on top of the man's head. He resolves to take better care of his hair before turning his attention back to what his future self is saying.

"While this may be difficult to believe, I can supply the necessary information to prove that we are one and the same" He says as he takes another sip from his cup.

Ozpin waves his hand dismissively to the man. "That will not be necessary for what you have already told us is enough proof of the legitimacy of your words." He says as he picks up his empty cup and hands it over to Glynda who has been standing right next to his seat watching the whole events that is transpiring in his office.

She quickly takes the cup and walks over to the coffee machine set up in the corner of his office and soon comes back with his now refiled cup and places it in front of Ozpin before going back to her position in his side.

"So let us review what you have told us up to this moment" He says as he takes a sip of the warm coffee. "You are from 30 years into the future and here have been cases of… temporal disruptions and you have traced the origins of it back to this certain time frame. You have created this Chronos Sphere," he gestures to the small round object his future self is standing on. "In the hopes of restoring these disruptions. Am I right?"

His future self nods while taking a look at the device he is currently standing on "Yes, the Chronos Sphere is a marvel of Remnant technology created by the best and brightest that the future Remnant can offer." He takes a sip from his cup "It is capable of traveling through time itself, projecting an image from the future, and, if given enough energy and dust, send someone through to the past."

His image falters a bit and his sound suddenly cut off before his form stabilizes again "I apologize for that, it is already taking a tremendous amount of our energy just to be able to communicate with you. I am afraid we cannot hold this connection for long."

The current Ozpin looks at the device in amazement wondering how much Remnant's technology can improve over the span of time it takes to create the device and imagines the many possibilities that such a wonderful device can provide. He shakes his head and refocus his attention back to his future self, 'We will have more time later to ponder on the magnificence of such devices, but right now we have to focus on the task at hand' he thinks to himself before turning his attention back to his future self.

"So, what exactly are these… temporal disruptions and how do you propose that we help you fix them?" He asks his future self, wanting answers to his questions.

"Temporal Disruptions, from what we have researched, are caused when certain events from the past are disrupted. Meaning that certain important events that were supposed to happen at the past suddenly didn't happen. We are not sure what the cause of this sudden changes in events are and we are currently doing our best to research the cause of this but what we do know is that if we do not solve this then bad things will happen to us. At best these negative effects range from small things like small sudden changes in our memories and at worst we have seen that should we just leave these disruptions alone then it could potentially cause a full temporal breakdown meaning a full wipeout of our own existence"

He takes a long sip from his cup letting the information of what he said sink in. He looks at the shocked and scared look of Glynda before focusing back on the contemplative look of his past self.

"These, from what we have researched, can be easily solved by making sure that the past events that causes the Temporal Disruption to manifest are fulfilled. Should the cause of the disturbance be fixed, it is easy to assume that the disturbance itself will cease to exist."

Ozpin takes all the information in calmly thinking about everything his future self has just explained to him. He takes another sip of his warm coffee to calm the erratic thoughts plaguing his mind before returning his focus back to his future self.

"So you plan to tell us exactly what events are supposed to happen and we make sure that these events do happen in order to stop the disruptions, am I correct?"

His future self lets out a small sigh before shaking his head. "Not quite, while telling you what events are supposed to happen could work. The number of events that is supposed to happen that is causing the disruption in the first place is too numerous to state and as I have said we do not have the energy to sustain this connection with you for long. There is also no telling whether these events can be disrupted by an outside force again."

He takes a sip from his cup again.

"No we plan to use our remaining power to send someone who is knowledgeable about these events to the past and he will make sure that these events do happen and that nothing will disrupt it."

The present Ozpin nods in understanding, taking a quick sip from his cup he focuses back to his future self and asks. "So who exactly are you going to send back to the past?"

Before his future self could answer his image suddenly disappears. Confused, Ozpin takes a closer look at the Chronos Sphere to see if it anything is broken and not seeing anything signifying damage. He waits for a bit before the image of his future self suddenly pops up again.

"Forgive me but we have run out of time. In a few minutes we will be sending our agent over and he will take over and explain more in detail the events that he will be making sure to happen. It was nice talking to you again old friend." His future self says with a smile before his image disappears again.

After a few minutes of waiting for something to happen Glynda finally speaks up.

"Are you sure this is wise sir? We don't know if-… "

She was cut off as the Chronos Sphere suddenly starts to make a strange whirring sound. Ozpin smiles in anticipation and looks over at her

"I'm sure it is nothing to be worried about. Besides, don't you think that these will make things more interesting?" He smiles at her before returning his focus back on the device.

"If you say so sir." She says dejectedly as she watches the devices activate.

The sound coming from the device gets steadily louder with each passing second. The middle of the device suddenly starts glowing blue and both Ozpin and Glynda can sense the immense power coming from the device. Soon a shape begins to form on top of the device and slowly but surely the shape starts to take on a humanoid figure. In a sudden bright flash the figure materializes into a young boy with short black and red hair. He is wearing boots with red laces, shorts with the combination of the colors red and black, a black sleeveless shirt with a red rose printed on the front, and a familiar red cloak and hood adorned on his back.

The boy slowly opens his eyes revealing his bright blue eyes and smiles brightly at both Ozpin and Glynda. He puts both arms on his hips and not dropping his smile he loudly addresses both occupants of Ozpin's office.

"Greetings! My name is Garnet Arc! And I am here to make sure that my mom and dad marry!"

Slowly a smile forms on Ozpins face and a single thought crosses his head.

'Yes, things are going to get really interesting around here.'
