The Resistance Chapter 1: Prologue, a doctor who fanfic

Hello everyone, Nele here. If you are one of those people who read the note I wrote asking whether I should continue this story or not, I think you can already guess what I ended up deciding ;) If you are new here, welcome! I hope you'll enjoy your stay.

Okay so first off, I want to give everyone that commented saying I should continue a very big, warm hug. Thank you so much for giving me the courage to continue this story, if I had gotten no feedback at all I wouldn't be here, writing again. So really, thanks a ton, I couldn't have done it without you xx

Now, about the story. If you've been here before, then you might want to reread the first few chapters (if you want of course). I've made a few changes here and there, nothing too major, the main storyline remained the same, but I do think that the alterations I made were for the better. So it's up to you to decide if you want to reread it but I do recommend it :)

I also took down the old chapters, but they will be replaced by the edited ones as soon as I finish rewriting them.

Let me also just state that I will update when I can, but I can't promise you daily or regular updates because of my job and all, so keep that in mind please.

And also, English isn't my first language so please forgive me if I make any grammatical or spelling mistakes, I try to avoid those as much as I can, but like I said, English isn't my mother tongue so there's bound to be some errors here and there, my apologies.

-Noun: The act or power of resisting, opposing or withstanding

I never in a million years would have thought I would find myself lying in his arms, feeling protected and loved, and be okay with that. If you had told me so at the beginning of this story, I never would have believed you, I might have even laughed straight in your face, ridiculed you for thinking something so outrageous.

Because I resisted and fought him every step of the way. Pushing him away (in all possible ways), yelling at him, telling him I hated him; telling him I never loved him. All these acts of rebellion, objection, against him. I was arrogant, childish, and stubborn, and at some points just plain out hostile.

And yet he never stopped loving me. Caring for me. Being there for me when I needed him, even when I didn't want him to be.

He got angry; hell, he got furious, even scaring me at times. He got hurt. Broken.

But he never abandoned me. Not that it was possible under the circumstances, but he never even once thought about it, he never considered it, never tried to find a way to get out of the situation – away from me.

He never changed, except for his body of course, but that's not what I mean. At heart he was always the same. He was my steady rock, one I could always rely on, although most times I didn't even realize it. Something I needed the most in this new world I find myself in. A world full of changes, hurt and revelations.

At this very moment, being cuddled up to his side, my head laying on his bare chest and his arms around my naked torso, I wondered why I did it. How I had the strength to do it. Why I had the nerve to try and throw away that much love.

Resistance. It's a funny word if you think about it. The literal meaning is: "the refusal to accept or comply with something". But in my case, I honestly shouldn't have been so averse to it, to him. Only a fool would oppose to something that's so good for you; something you would never have expected to feel so damn right.

But that's the big question, isn't it?

Why did I resist?
