Zane! Cover me!

I-I...I don't think this is such a good idea...

We cant just stand here! Its the Serpentine we're dealing with here, we've prepared for this! Are you with me, or not?

...

Zane, I need an answer now

Ok...ok, I'm with you

Good...glad your with me bro...

Zane! No!

'A scream is heard'

JAZ!

ZANE, NO!

NO! _

Zane awoke from his nightmare, his breath heavy and unstable. He glanced around him to realize it was just another bad dream, and that everything that had occurred wasn't real.

But...it was, as he had feared...it had already happened.

There are some mysteries in Zane's past he cannot comprehend, and although he couldn't remember much of it, he still wished he couldn't...because having a blank memory of your past you did not recognize was frustrating, especially for him.

Another task I must complete...why hadn't father left me with an erase switch?

Then he remembered the others, he didn't want to forget them for anything, not in a million years. So again, he just left the issue alone. Besides, he's only had dream visions from time to time, once a week, maybe even a month, this was normal for an average Nindroid like himself. But he then began to wonder if that really was the case, what if these memories were coming back all of a sudden to warn him? The Serpentine were in his nightmare, did it mean they were coming to rise again once more?

Perhaps...I'm just overreacting, as Cole would call it...maybe I should just focus on the real problems instead of the distractions...

But upon leaving bed, he stumbled and tripped over something thick. He grunt as his head hit the floor, looking over his shoulder he found himself to groan...it was his tail.

"Like this...for instance," he said irritably.

There was a knock on his door, Zane bolted straight upward, taking hold of his tail to make sure it wasn't seen. Who came in, why Kai of course, he was looking for his friend.

"Good morning, Kai," Zane greeted.

"Hey, Zane. *clears throat* also good morning too...so you've finally woken up?" the red ninja asked.

Zane gaped, "Don't tell me I overslept again."

"Fifth time this week in fact," Kai responded.

The ice ninja placed his hands over his head, sighing, Kai shrugged, "You have a knack for dozing off longer than anyone, Zane. I mean the alarm doesn't work on you."

"Just give me a minute, I'll be right down for breakfast-"

"Breakfast?" Kai questioned, "Zane, its 10:30, breakfast had already ended long ago."

"What?!" he shrieked.

"Hey don't sweat it man, you probably just needed your sleep after last night, I mean...you weren't the only one that needed rest," Kai motioned over to the infirmary.

Zane had already knew why, Andrea had been hurt majorly from the past few days, after a fiasco at the storm farms which cost Jay his reputation and his girlfriend. The ice ninja cringed, just thinking about it, he felt beyond sorry for his lightning friend, I mean, anyone would.

He then looked at Kai, well...almost anyone, Kai hadn't even spoken Jay's name in over a week, he was that mad at the guy.

Finally, Kai crossed his arms, "Well if your not standing around sulking then you could make it to lunch, which is in about an hour. You coming or what?"

Zane pondered, rethinking about Jay, "What about-"

Kai stopped him, the ice ninja stopped immediately.

"Don't. Mention his name, I don't even want to see him there," he spat.

Zane stiffened, how cold-hearted had Kai become?

"What about his lunch?" Zane asked.

"I don't care if he starves," Kai replied, rather rudely.

Zane grit his teeth, he knew Jay had done wrong things for the past few days, but none were his fault...it was the Serpentine. So he stood there and told Kai, "Kai. This is ridiculous, I know Jay hurt you but you need to let it go."

"YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT ITS LIKE, ZANE! TO HAVE SOMEONE CLOSE TO YOU, SUDDENLY GONE! ITS JAYS FAULT ZANE! IT IS!" Kai screamed.

"Well, I might not know how it feels but he's still your brother!" Zane replied.

"Brother my ass," Kai hissed.

"WHAT?!"

Kai backed up at the sudden roar in Zane's tone, the ice ninja gulped, he didn't mean that.

Either way, Kai shook his head, "I don't care, Zane. He's will never be a brother to me. Never."

With that, the ninja of fire exited the room, only with one last remark, "and be sure to never let him out of his room..."

Zane stood there, appalled. What had Kai become? This wasn't the same protective, hotheaded fire-head Zane called his friend. This was an entirely different person, all because his sister had run away. From my point of view it was mostly his fault she left the team...I don't see any other reason he thought.

He let go of his tail, cringing as it hit the floor. Before he could get to lunch he had to figure out how to control this, its only been weeks since he first found out his dragon potential had been reached almost instantly...something that wasn't supposed to be normal, according to Lily.

"If someone gets it early, it'll probably lead to greater disaster." he recalled her saying. Zane bit his lip, he didn't want to be the cause of disaster, he didn't want to cause any harm.

"Why...did this have to happen NOW!" he shouted, as he kicked the wall.

However, he had forgotten his strength now, and so had created a major hole in the wall. He gasped.

Zane instantly pulled it out, only to lose balance and trip over his tail once more. "OW," he cried, hitting the floor on his back.

He gazed up at the ceiling, he then covered his face in shame.

This was going to be a long day for him. _

[Yay! I took up the courage to post! Thank god! Well it seems his Dragon Potential has been reached already, but quite too early, and as Lily stated, that's dangerous. So?
