"'And this wouldn't have anything to do with the fact I banned you from my apartment yesterday, would it?' Short drabble based on too many sugar cookies."
"You made what again?"
"Christmas cookies. There were too many in the end and we thought you might want some."
Natsu quickly pushed a bag overflowing with neatly frosted sugar cookies into her stunned hands. The cookies were still hot and instantly warmed her hands through the paper as she wrestled to balance it in her arms. The sweet smell of sugar wafted up into her face causing her stomach to let out very unflattering growl.
"You and Happy made these all by yourself?" she asked in disbelief.
Natsu nodded quickly and absently tugged on the edge of his scarf while Happy hovered anxiously behind him.
Not convinced, Lucy asked "And this wouldn't have anything to do with the fact I banned you from my apartment yesterday, would it?"
Happy was the one to shake his head this time as Lucy slowly bit into one of the perfectly crafted snowmen cookies. She took extra time chewing, savoring the sugary goodness on her tongue, before swallowing. Natsu and Happy waited at rapt attention as she busied herself in peering through the rest of the bag.
"Then this receipt that's stapled to the bag for an order of twenty dozen sugar cookies to go is just for decoration?" she questioned offhandedly.
The pair shared a wide-eyed look before Natsu promptly answered, "Yes."
Lucy gave them a blank stare before shaking her head in surrender. She stept back and waved for them to enter. The pair nearly threw themselves over her threshold before she could change her mind
"Don't you dare destroy my decorations again!" she yelled at them over their cheers of triumphant.
