Author's Note: Hello everyone! This is a fic I'm writing for my good friend's birthday, which should either be today or tomorrow (depending when this goes up, I'm not sure when I'll actually post it) so if you have a Tumblr go wish her a happy birthday (wendychuu). To Zoey, you've been an amazing friend to me in the short time I've known you and I really hope you enjoy this! This is a NaWen fic btw, to anyone that didn't check the pairing.
Wendy Marvell's Sweet Sixteen
Awaking from her peaceful slumber, a feeling of euphoria shot through her veins as the young girl shot up in her bed, sending the covers flying off of her body. Today was her birthday. She could barely contain the immense excitement she felt in every fibre of her being, and it took all she had to not scream with joy, but she was mindful of her next-door roommates of Fairy Hills and kept her voice down. Springing off of her bed and onto the ground like a feral cat, she pounced onto her Exceed companion Charle, exclaiming as quietly as possible,
"Charle! It's my birthday!"
Waking up with a start, Charle shrieked and instinctively began to swipe at her apparent attacker with sharp claws before realising it was only her roommate. Letting out an irritated sigh, Charle did her best to remain composed as she replied with a forced smile,
"Good morning, Wendy. Happy birthday."
"Thank you, Charle!" Wendy said appreciatively, squeezing her friend into an oxygen-depriving hug as Charle struggled to break free from Wendy's iron grip.
"Can't... breathe..." Charle choked out, as Wendy realised she was crushing her feline pal and released her, dropping her on the ground as she bounced a little upon impact and landed on her head.
"I'm sorry, Charle! I just get so excited when it's my birthday and all." Wendy apologised, giving her a nervous laugh.
Charle wanted to lecture her on the importance of not mistreating her easily-crushed companions but figured she ought to save it for another day. It was her birthday, and she didn't need one more thing to worry about.
"It's… no problem at all, dear. Try to be more gentle next time." Charle said with the same forced grin.
"Will do, Charle! Here, come help me pick my outfit while I shower really quick!" Wendy exclaimed, flinging open the wooden wardrobe for her friend while she sped out of the room and down the hall to use the showers.
"Why can't she just pick it herself?" Charle mumbled as she began to sort through Wendy's infinite number of dresses to find one that Charle felt suited her well enough for the occasion. Deciding on an aqua-blue coloured dress with a few gold bangles and a matching pair of earrings, Charle set it out on her bed for when she returned from her shower. Now that her simple mission was completed, the Exceed climbed onto her small Exceed bed and resolved to go back to sleep for the momentary twenty or so minutes of peace she had before Wendy came flying back into the room and screaming her head off.
Unfortunately for Charle, she was not spared the luxury of a cat nap. What seemed like an instant later to her but was probably around twenty minutes, she was awoken not by Wendy but by the sounds of the shouting of two male voices from outside the window, one of which sounded much higher pitched and obnoxious.
"Go a little lower, Happy…" Charle heard a voice say.
"Natsuuuuu, I can barely fly with you holding that big sign, hurry up and get her attention!" Happy said to Natsu, and Charle's ears pricked up and she sprang out of her tiny Exceed bed and hopped onto Wendy's bed that was higher off the ground to get a better look at the situation unfolding just outside their building.
Natsu and Happy were apparently attempting some stunt at wishing Wendy a happy birthday as the two hovered just outside their window, Natsu holding a large sign that read "Happy Birthday Wendy". Normally, Charle might have thought the gesture was sweet of him, but the fact that the two had awoken her from her slumber irritated her to no end, and she opened the window and shouted at them,
"What do you two think you're doing out here so early in the morning?! People are still sleeping!"
"Charle!" Happy called with the ever-present excitement in his voice as he almost dropped Natsu and the sign before remembering his place.
"Oh, good morning. Where's Wendy?" Natsu asked her.
"Showering. Can't you two at least wait until she's awake and at the guild to wish her a happy birthday?" Charle asked them.
"Well, I wanted to surprise her. It wouldn't be the same if everyone else was there too, so Happy and I came alone." Natsu replied.
"How would it be any diff- you know what, I don't even care. I'll tell Wendy you came, so just leave your sign here." Charle shouted.
"No! I want her to see it for herself!" Natsu pouted.
"What are you, a child? I'll tell her that it's from you, now go already!" Charle called as Wendy burst into the room, covered by only a towel wrapped around her bust.
"Charle, I'm done with my sho-" Wendy began, stopping when she looked out the window and saw Natsu and Happy hovering in the air while Natsu's face went scarlet as Wendy looked down and realised she was still barely clothed.
"EEEEEEEK!" Wendy shrieked, unconsciously letting out a Sky Dragon's Roar and sending Natsu and Happy crashing down to the ground below as they landed on the earth with a groan.
"N-N-N-N-Natsu-san saw me n-n- NAKED!" Wendy screamed, hiding under her bedsheets like a frightened little girl.
"There couldn't have been a worse time…" Charle mumbled as she rubbed her temples in frustration. Climbing onto her bed, Charle lifted up a portion of the covers to see her friend curled up into a foetal position.
"Wendy, come on, Natsu didn't see you in your 'full glory.' Besides, you might have just killed him with that fall." Charle pointed out, as Wendy stopped rocking back and forth as she shot out from under the covers and stuck her head out the window to look down at the ground.
"Natsu-san! Are you okay?! I'm so sorry!" Wendy called, and Natsu flipped himself over onto his stomach and gave her a weak thumbs up.
"Hold on, I'll be right out!" she called, and she spun around and dressed herself at the speed of light and practically leapt down the stairs of Fairy Hills, pushing open the front door and rushing outside. Running around to the back, Wendy found Natsu and Happy in a pile, their heads still spinning from her powerful magic and the fall.
"Oh my God, Natsu-san, I've gone and hurt you and Happy, not to mention I've destroyed your sign. I'm so sorry…" Wendy apologised furiously, beginning to cry.
Wendy's quivering lip and sad demeanour was more than enough to snap Natsu out of his daze as he shot up from the ground and put his hand on hers.
"Don't cry Wendy, I'm alright, see?" Natsu said, opening his vest to show her that he was unharmed.
It's not like Wendy hadn't seen Natsu shirtless before, but no matter how many times it happened she could never stop herself from going as red as a tomato and losing all composure.
"A-A-Alright, Natsu-san, p-please close your v-vest." she stammered, fanning herself with her free hand.
"Okay, then. Sorry if I gave you a bad scare Wendy, I didn't mean to look at you naked or anything." Natsu said, rubbing the back of his neck and grinning at her.
"Y-Yes, I'm sure you didn't mean to. But still, I'm sad I ruined your nice gift…" Wendy mumbled, looking at the shredded remains of Natsu's poster.
"Gift? This isn't my gift to you, this is just a poster." Natsu replied with a confused expression on his face.
"Still, you took the time to make it for me." Wendy argued.
"Honestly, it's no big deal at all, Wendy. I'm more than happy to do things like this for you. Your sixteenth birthday only comes around once after all. You excited?" Natsu asked her.
"Oh, definitely, Natsu-san! I suppose we'll be having a party at the guild?" Wendy questioned.
"Well, that would ruin the surprise if I told you about it." Natsu replied.
"Um, I think you just told me about it, Natsu-san." Wendy pointed out, sweat-dropping.
"Oh, did I? Sorry Wendy, I'm pretty dumb after all." Natsu apologised.
"Don't say something like that, Natsu-san, you aren't dumb in the slightest. I happen to think you're a very smart man, actually." Wendy admitted.
"Now you're just making stuff up." Natsu replied with a laugh, "Well, since you already know about the once-a-surprise party, should we get going?" Natsu offered.
"What about Happy and Charle?" Wendy asked.
"They'll catch up on their own, won't you Happy?" Natsu said, looking back over at his partner on the ground.
"Aye…" Happy shouted weakly.
"See, Happy's fine. Come on then, Birthday Girl." Natsu said, waving her forward as he began walking down the stone path that led into the main road that took the two from Fairy Hills to the guild.
"Wait for me!" Wendy called as she hurried to catch up to her friend while he stood and waited for her with his famous grin plastered on his face.
The two Dragon Slayers walked in a comfortable silence on their way to the Fairy Tail guild hall, neither saying a word but being content with just being in each other's presence. The hot sun beat down on the two mages, and the sky was cloudless and unblemished to an ethereal perfection. Nothing made her more happy than being next to her best friend, no matter what menial task or job they were performing. Members of their guild often confused their relationship as that of an older brother/younger sister bond, but Wendy certainly did not see it in the same light as their friends. For the last four years, Wendy had had a crush on her friend, Natsu Dragneel. At first it was not much more than an innocent attraction, as she had simply found him handsome and friendly, but with each year that passed at their guild, her feelings for the young man grew and grew. After Fairy Tail's destruction during the Tartarus incident and Natsu's inevitable departure from the guild for a year, Wendy thought she was going to go crazy from lack of exposure to his beautiful smile and fiery aura that drew her in like a moth to a flame.
The only thing that had kept her going was the resolve to grow stronger, to be able to stand by his side as an equal the next time that he required her help, no matter when or where that might be. Her thirteenth birthday was supposed to be an important date in her life, she would finally be a teenager and thirteen sounded much older than twelve, was she wrong? However, even if most of the guild members had reunited for that one afternoon to celebrate her day of birth (this was before the guild had reformed), she secretly felt miserable without Natsu around. She knew that she wasn't the only one, as Lucy had frequently locked herself in her room to cry herself to sleep and even more emotionally stable members of the guild like Gray and Erza occasionally let their tears slip out at the mention of their lovable Fire Dragon Slayer's name. A guild without Natsu was… something akin to a building without it's support beams, as awful of an analogy as that was. Without them, the building would crumble under it's own weight, which is exactly what happened. Natsu was the sort-of glue that held their emotionally broken family together, nobody could have disputed that. It wasn't until he left that she realised he was also the glue holding her together as well.
Sure, she had Charle and her innumerable friends from the guild to comfort and support her, but the one she treasured the most out of anyone in the world was Natsu. He had saved her life countless times, whether it had been on missions or even the time she was captured by Oracion Seis, and she felt as though her sole purpose for living was to serve him, not as some sort of dog or tool, but to live for him. As long as he was smiling, she was smiling. Even on a day like this, where she was supposed to indulge in herself and have other people bow to her every whim, she still wanted Natsu to be happier than her.
"Now that I think about it, you've never celebrated your birthday, have you, Natsu-san?" Wendy asked her friend, speaking up after what felt like a long silence.
"Nah, I don't need to do anything like that." Natsu replied nonchalantly.
"Why not? Everyone deserves to have a celebration on their birthday, however big or small it is." Wendy argued.
"Because my life is so happy it feels like every day could be my birthday. You guys really don't understand how much it means to me to be able to have a place to actually call my home. When I was on my own for a year, I missed everyone terribly. I haven't felt as lonely as I did then since my father disappeared all those years ago, leaving me to fend for myself. To be able to come back from missions and push open those familiar guild doors and to hear everyone welcome me back from a job well done… it's like I'm walking on air. Besides, I don't exactly have a 'birthday', per say. However, I'll leave those details for later tonight." Natsu explained.
"Later tonight?" Wendy questioned, her face going red as her mind was flooded with images of Natsu seducing her outside the guild hall and-
"Not like that, Wendy. I can tell when you're thinking of dirty stuff." Natsu said with a grin as Wendy snapped out of her trance and thought about retorting but figured it was pointless, so she just shut her mouth.
"So, sixteen huh? You're growing up fast, Wendy." Natsu said, ruffling her hair affectionately. "You must have gotten hundreds of marriage proposals by now."
"E-Eh?! Marriage proposals?! Never!" Wendy exclaimed.
"You're against the idea of getting married?" Natsu asked her.
"Not necessarily… I just don't want to be married off to some random guy for money or just to be a trophy wife. I want to get married to the man I love." Wendy said quietly, twiddling her thumbs.
"Ah, I see. Well, I'm sure he'll come around eventually. You're not just some little girl anymore, after all." Natsu said reassuringly.
"Right… speaking of marriages, I'm surprised you haven't proposed to Lucy-san yet." Wendy said, changing the subject.
"What makes you think I'd want to do that?" Natsu asked, like he really was confused by her statement.
"Well, you two seem like a… you know, a couple. I don't think anybody would be shocked if you two suddenly tied the knot." Wendy replied.
"Oh, I see. Well, whatever it is we seem like, disregard that idea. I don't love Lucy… well, not anymore. Maybe there was a time in the past… but that's just the past though, isn't it? I like to look at the bright future ahead." Natsu said.
"Bright future ahead? You mean Lisanna-san? Yukino-san? Erza-san?!" Wendy asked with great interest.
"No, no and hell no." he replied.
"Well, who will you have as your wife then, Natsu-san? Clearly, you could get any woman you want." Wendy pouted.
"Just mind your own business, Wendy. Look, we're almost there." Natsu said with a sigh, pointing to the large and rebuilt guild hall of Fairy Tail.
"How many times has our guild been destroyed and rebuilt since you've been here, Natsu-san?" Wendy asked him.
"I've lost count, to be honest. Are you ready for your 'surprise' party, Wendy?" Natsu asked her, as the pair stopped short of opening the doors.
"I suppose, although I wish I had put some makeup on and maybe did my hair..." she started, but Natsu waved off her concern.
"You look great, don't worry about it. Now come on, let's not keep everyone waiting." Natsu insisted, grabbing her arm and pushing open the guild doors with his free hand.
Natsu hadn't even given her time to have a spas attack over their physical contact as well as the fact he had just said she looked great as he pulled her inside the wooden building, where she was met by a chorus of "HAPPY BIRTHDAY WENDY!" from all of her friends and guildmates. Her comrades had decorated the guild splendidly for the occasion, multi-coloured streamers hanging from the rafters and large amounts of confetti raining down on her and Natsu's heads. Lucy had already summoned Lyra to provide music, and the Celestial Spirit happily strummed away at her harp from the stage to the delight of all the listeners. At the foot of the stage stood a long wooden table, filled to the brim with presents on top of presents that threatened to topple over at any time.
"This is incredible!" Wendy shouted in awe, taking in the lively atmosphere.
"Isn't it?! I proclaim it to be the best birthday celebration this guild has ever thrown!" Erza replied with a twinkle in her eye. "Let's get this party started with games!"
"What kind of games?" Lucy asked.
"How about Pin the Tail on the Natsu?" Gray suggested with a snicker.
"How about Beat Up the Stripper?!" Natsu growled, igniting his fist and shaking it at Gray furiously.
"Natsu-san..." Wendy began, turning around to face him with her cheeks puffed up in a pout, "no fighting."
"Y-Yes Ma'am." Natsu replied, extinguishing his hand.
"How about a singing contest?" Wendy suggested.
"Well, you see Wendy..." Gray began with a nervous tone, but Erza slammed her fist on the wooden table in excitement.
"I love it! All members will participate, no 'but's!" Erza proclaimed, much to the disappointment of the less vocally-skilled crowd.
"I'll go first!" Gajeel announced, already having gotten dressed in his white tuxedo as he ran up to the stage and quickly began his eardrum-shattering solo, which lasted a painful and nail-biting five minutes before he concluded.
"Well, that was certainly delightful, Gajeel." Mira said, playing the hostess and taking the stage. "Next up we'll have... let's see, how about Juvia?" Mira suggested.
Gray immediately spit out his beer upon the mention of his number one fan's name, shooting Mira a look as if to beg her not to summon Juvia to the stage. Being the devil Mira was, she pretended not to see his pleading cries for help. Cheerfully taking the stage, Juvia tapped the mic a few times before taking it in her hand.
"Um, Juvia is not the best singer in Fiore, but Juvia has prepared a song that Juvia has entitled "Gray-sama" which she hopes you all will enjoy." Juvia said with a nervous but hopeful grin as the sound of Gray's head hitting the table with a groan rang out through the guild hall at the mention of the song literally being named "Gray-sama."
"Graaaay-sama, Graaaay-sama,
Your love for Juvia, we can all seeee,
If he would ask me to bear his children,
I'll have no less than thirtyyyyy!" Juvia sang in an awful out-of-pitch voice that sent the audience into a fit of hysterical laughter while Gray attempted to hide his beet-red face in his arms.
From there on out, the singing contest got even stranger but more comical as Happy sung a thirteen-minute long song exclusively about fish and Laxus performed an original poem, causing Freed to pass out from excitement. After each member of the guild including Natsu had given their piece as Mira inevitably won another singing contest, they moved onto many other festivities such as magical arm wrestling (arm wrestling, WITH MAGIC) and even Truth or Dare, which was arguably one of the more interesting games they played that day.
The sun had begun to set in the sky, and the guild decided they would play Truth or Dare and then give Wendy her presents, and from there they could call it a night whenever they wanted. Since it would have taken all night if the entire guild played in the same round, they split off into ten or so different groups of four or five members each. Wendy landed in a group with Natsu, Erza, Lucy and Happy, much to her delight.
"Okay, who wants to start?" Erza asked.
"I will, I guess." Lucy said.
"Okay, Truth or Dare, Lucy?" Erza said.
"Eh... Truth." Lucy replied.
"If you had to be stuck in a room for twenty-four hours with any of us here, who would it be?" Erza asked.
"Oh, good one. Let's see... oh, you really put me on the spot, Erza. Wendy, just to be safe." Lucy answered.
"Oh, who would have guessed." Wendy chimed in.
"Wendy, you're next, Truth or Dare?" Lucy asked.
"Um... Truth!" Wendy exclaimed.
"Who do you think has the hottest body in Fairy Tail?" Lucy questioned with a smug look on her face.
"E-E-Eh?! H-Hottest body..." Wendy stammered, putting her hands over her eyes as she peered out through the tiny crack with her fingers to see if Natsu was watching.
"W-Well, if I had to choose... Natsu-san." she whispered.
"What was that, Wendy?" Erza asked, cupping her ear.
"I said, N-N-Natsu-san..." she squeaked a little louder.
"Wendy, you're going to have to speak up..." Lucy said.
"I SAID NATSU-SAN! NATSU-SAN HAS THE HOTTEST BODY IN ALL OF FAIRY TAIL! FROM HIS CHISELLED SIX-PACK TO HIS GOD-LIKE BACK MUSCLES!" Wendy shouted much louder than she intended, immediately clamping her hand over her mouth in embarrassment afterwards.
"Hmm, god-like eh..." Natsu said, flexing for himself.
"Well, that certainly came out a bit more over-the-top than I had expected from you, Wendy." Lucy said, giggling furiously.
"I- I mean, they aren't that good..." Wendy mumbled, sinking down into her seat.
"Wendy's a tsundere!" Happy exclaimed.
"Well, at any rate, I have Wendy's seal of approval!" Natsu said with a thumbs up. "I suppose it's my turn now, isn't it?"
"Y-Yes, it is. Truth or Dare, Natsu-san?" Wendy asked, her scarlet face returning to it's normal colour.
"Dare." Natsu replied simply.
"Um, well, let's see..." Wendy pondered. "I dare you to... kiss Lucy-san!" Wendy announced with a smug look on her face, eager for revenge against the Celestial Mage.
"WHAT?!" Lucy shrieked.
"Okay." Natsu replied with no hesitations.
As Natsu slowly leant into the wooden table to steal Lucy's first(?) kiss, Wendy suddenly felt extremely regretful of her decision.
Wait, this isn't what I want. I don't like it when he... does things like that with her, Wendy thought before getting out of her chair and slamming her tiny palms on the table.
"Stop!" she shouted, and Natsu paused and looked over at her with a confused expression.
"What's wrong?" Natsu asked her.
"I changed my mind, don't kiss Lucy-san." Wendy replied.
"Um, okay then." Natsu said, taking a seat as Lucy sighed in relief.
"So, what do you want me to do, Wendy?" Natsu questioned, raising an eyebrow.
"Oh! Well, I- um... if you could kiss... me, please." Wendy squeaked, her voice so quiet only Natsu with his enhanced Dragon Slayer hearing picked it up. Her face was burning and her heart thumped like a jackhammer in her chest, she must have looked like a nervous wreck.
"Ahhh, that's why you got all scared there for a second." Natsu said with a chuckle, "Well, who would I be to decline the Birthday Girl..." he whispered, leaning in so close to her face that their noses were practically touching.
"...her birthday wish." he finished, pressing his soft lips against her own, sending a jolt of electricity throughout her body. Kissing Natsu felt marvellous, his hot breath mixing with her own as he cupped her cheek in his hand and brushed a strand of hair away from her face. Wendy's head was completely spinning from the kiss, and she felt as if she were about to faint from sheer pleasure when he abruptly pulled away to allow her to breathe. Wendy still felt dizzy and her whole body felt all hot and tingly, but she was no longer in any danger of actually passing out.
"Could that have been your first kiss, Wendy?" Natsu teased.
"Eh... yes, Natsu-san..." Wendy mumbled, incapable of forming an intellectual response.
It took Wendy a couple extra moments to pick up on it, but she noticed that the entire room had gone silent since her sharing a kiss with Natsu. Not even the once-lively conversations could be heard in the background, the room was completely devoid of any noise other than her and Natsu.
"What are you all staring at?" Natsu asked loudly.
"Wow, that was..." Erza said, her jaw hanging open.
"TOO CUTE!" Mira shrieked, and the rest of the guild cheered in agreement as they all raised their mugs in a salute to the two.
Wendy had initially thought she had made Natsu do something wrong, but after she witnessed Juvia repeatedly hitting her head against the table and screaming about how adorable that was and that she wished "her and Gray-sama could do the same," Wendy figured she was in the clear.
"Well, that's quite a way of wrapping up our game of Truth or Dare!" Mira announced, making her way onto the stage, "but now it's time to open presents!"
One by one, Wendy was assaulted with a barrage of gifts, which ranged to be anything from clothing to a bottle of booze that Cana had already half-drank (it was swiftly confiscated). She received many spectacular gifts, like an ice tiara from Gray that was guaranteed to never melt, a collection of books about dragons from Lucy and Levy and a set of armour from Erza that was light enough for her to wear but still maintain her agility in combat. As the supply of presents dwindled to the last few dregs on the once overflowing table, Wendy finally reached the very last box, which was sitting alone directly in the centre of the present table. Mira went to retrieve it and bring it to her as she did with all the other ones, but Natsu stopped her and whispered something in her ear as Mira nodded and allowed him to do the honours.
Picking up the brilliant red box in his hands, Natsu carried it over to her but did not place it on the table just yet and set it on the ground.
"Wendy, before I give you this, I need to ask you something." Natsu stated, his demeanour more serious than usual.
"Of course, Natsu-san. What is it?" she replied.
"What am I to you? Please, be honest." Natsu asked, his eyes pleading her to tell the truth.
"What you are to me..." Wendy mumbled, looking at the wooden floor. Clearly, her next words were going to have an impact on the young man, so she needed to think this through. Laughing to herself, Natsu looked confused but Wendy just waved her hand at him.
"Did you really feel the need to ask such a question?" she asked him.
"Yes, it's extremely important." Natsu replied.
"I see... well, I suppose I had to say this sooner or later." Wendy said quietly, standing up and climbing on top of her wooden chair.
"Natsu-san, I... I..." Wendy stuttered, her fists clenching in anger at her lack of confidence. Why can't I just say it?! she screamed internally.
"I think I... no, I know that I... love you." Wendy squeaked.
The silence in the air was absolutely deafening for the young girl, it felt as if those three words had given her some sort of immense shellshock that left a ringing in her eardrums. Natsu looked completely stunned, but his surprised expression soon turned into that of a teary smile as he wiped his nose and picked up the gift and handed it to her. At first she hesitated, but he gave her a nod to let her know to open the gift. Undoing the fancy polka-dot ribbon, she unwrapped the paper and found a simple brown box, sealed with duct tape and unmarked. Using her wind as a makeshift box cutter, she sliced open the tape and undid the flaps as Happy suddenly burst from the depths of the packing peanuts, wearing a ridiculous party hat to boot.
"What... what is this?!" Wendy asked, angry at his seemingly stupid and childish prank he had just played on her.
"Wendy." Natsu said through his tears, catching her gaze and tapping his neck with his finger. Looking down at Happy, she discovered he was wearing a collar which was very unlike him. However, it wasn't the collar that completely stole the air from her lungs and caused her hands to tremble like they were experiencing a magnitude ten earthquake.
Right in the centre, attached by a small chain to Happy's collar hung a golden ring, adorned with the most stunning jewel Wendy had ever seen in her entire life. The stone shimmered multiple colours, but often shifted from a light sky-blue to a deep and fiery scarlet, the colours battling for control like two warring armies.
She didn't know what to do. She was speechless, she felt like she was going to suffocate from lack of oxygen and Wendy was completely unable to remove her eyes from Happy's neck. Taking it in his tiny Exceed paw, Happy removed the ring from his collar and placed it in Wendy's palm, closing her fingers over it and giving her a warm smile.
"Natsu made that for you." Happy said quietly, patting her larger human hand affectionately before hopping down onto the ground.
"This is..." Wendy mumbled, her pupils wide with shock as she clamped her free hand over her mouth as tears stung her eyes.
"Wendy, I don't expect you to go along with my crazy idea, nor do I want you to feel like you're obligated to say anything at all about this. You've only come of marital age today and you have your entire life ahead of you, so don't get the notion that you're somehow in need of a permanent relationship right now. I'm more than happy with just being your friend. Whatever makes you happy, makes me happy too." Natsu proclaimed, putting a gentle hand on her shoulder.
"Why... Why me?" she mumbled, looking down to the floor as her teardrops fell onto the hardwood.
"Because nobody else will do, Wendy. No matter who you might feel inferior to, or whatever flaw you see in yourself, just know that I think you couldn't be any more wrong. You're kind, breathtakingly beautiful and best of all, you complete me. You gave me something no other woman has ever done before, Wendy: a purpose. My reason for living. It's funny, really, out of all the battles I've ever fought, none of them have made my heart race as quickly as when I come home to see your heart-warming smile. I've fallen head over heels for you, Wendy. I guess you could call yourself my one weakness." Natsu said, shifting his hand to her arm.
The guild responded with a chorus of "Awww"s and numerous sobs from guild members that had been moved by Natsu's declaration of love.
"Natsu-san... yes! Yes, Natsu-san, of course I'll marry you! I love you so much!" she shouted between tears, slipping her new ring onto her ring finger and jumping into his arms as the crowd roared with excitement as Natsu laughed his head off and spun her around in circles like the happy idiot he was.
"Who could have predicted this?" Gray said as he rubbed his eyes with his fists.
"Are you crying?" Gajeel asked gruffly.
"What?! No, I'm just happy my best friend is getting married!" Gray exclaimed.
"Certainly, it was quite the surprise. Right, Lucy?" Erza said, turning to look at her friend.
"What? Oh… yeah, haha." Lucy replied solemnly.
Just as the guild had prepared to turn in for the night after they completed their game of Truth or Dare, their passion for partying was reignited with Natsu's unpredicted proposal. Cana even had to dip into her emergency supply of booze to allow the festivities to continue, much to her dismay. By the end of the night, the Fairy Tail guild hall looked like it had been hit by a tornado, as members were seemingly scattered randomly around the room as Erza's limp body drunkenly dangled from the rafters while Lucy summoned Virgo to throw blankets over the sleeping bodies of her guildmates.
Natsu had actually opted not to drink that much, unlike most of their friends, excluding Lucy and a few others. Wendy clung to Natsu's arm like a lost child as the two sat down at a wooden table while they watched the other members of Fairy Tail clean up the mess. In the entirety of the past few hours, Wendy's smile had not left her face, and even now she continued to grin to herself at the events of her birthday. She was still in awe that not only had Natsu returned her feelings of affection, he had actually popped the question the day she was able to marry. Wendy had been approached by numerous girls from the guild congratulating her but reminding her that she was still only sixteen and didn't need to marry Natsu if she didn't want to, but she waved off each of their concerns. She let each and every one of them know that she was overjoyed at such a magical opportunity, and that she wholeheartedly loved Natsu and wanted nothing more than to be his wife.
"Natsu-san, please pinch me." Wendy said.
"Why?" he asked.
"I think I might still be dreaming." Wendy replied, looking up at him.
Flicking her on the forehead with his finger, Wendy was about to say something when he kissed the spot he had flicked and said,
"It's the real thing, Wendy."
Wendy felt like she was going to melt from happiness when Natsu stood up and offered his hand as she eagerly took it.
"Luce, we're leaving for the night. Take care of the guild for me, alright?" Natsu called to the blonde Celestial Mage as Lucy said nothing and nodded weakly.
Wendy and Natsu waved goodbye to their sober friends as they set off from the guild, following the trail that led to Natsu's home by the forest.
"Wendy, you don't have to… you know, come home with me if you don't want to." Natsu pointed out as they walked.
"It's… really no problem, Natsu-san. I would like to get used to being by your side, if that's okay with you." Wendy replied.
"Of course it is. I've told Happy to go home with Lucy tonight, so we won't have to worry about anyone else killing the mood." Natsu said.
Wendy gulped and asked,
"The m-mood?"
"Yeah. What else do you think we'll be doing back at home?" Natsu questioned, looking at her with a baffled expression.
"I… I suppose we'll be…" Wendy stammered, her face going scarlet as she tightened her grip on Natsu's hand.
"Wendy," Natsu said, catching her eye as she turned to face him, "we don't have to make love if you aren't ready, or it makes you feel nervous. I would never force you into such an uncomfortable situation."
"No, that's not it, Natsu-san. I want to be with you, I do… I'm just a little scared is all." Wendy said with a shiver.
"That's normal, Wendy. If you really are okay with it, then I'll take it slowly." Natsu replied, squeezing her hand back.
"Natsu-san…" Wendy said softly, tears of joy running down her cheeks.
"Hey, Wendy?" Natsu said.
"Yes?" she replied.
"I'd like it if you just called me Natsu." Natsu said.
"I- I couldn't!" Wendy exclaimed.
"That's okay. Maybe one day, you'll get there. Come on, my house is just up here." Natsu said, leading her through a clearing in the trees and approaching his small stone house.
Opening the door, he allowed her to enter first before he closed and locked the door behind them. The sound of the lock clicking was both a source of relief and terror for the young bluenette. She was thankful to finally be alone with her new fiancée, but at the same time, she was still frightened of the idea of having… you know, with Natsu.
"Are you sure you're okay with this, Wendy?" Natsu asked for the millionth time.
"I said yes, didn't I? Let's just… start with kissing for now, alright?" Wendy said nervously, as Natsu just nodded in agreement.
Wendy walked across the room and sat down on Natsu's small bed, removing her shoes and setting them in a neat pile at the foot of his bed. Natsu did the same, removing his sandals and tossing them towards the door as he sat down next to Wendy, putting a hand on her cheek and looking into her eyes with his deep onyx coloured pools. Wendy felt unusually brave when he did this, and it was her who initiated the kiss, taking Natsu by surprise as he closed his eyes and kissed her back. Feeling slightly more adventurous, Natsu swirled his tongue around in her mouth, prodding her own and encouraging her to return the action. Although Wendy was clumsy and inexperienced, she tried her hardest to follow Natsu's lead, resting her hands on his muscular chest. That same dizzy feeling began to creep it's way back into Wendy's mind, and she felt as though she was being cooked from the inside-out with the intense heat flowing into her body from Natsu's mouth.
Just as quickly as the dizzy and uncoordinated sensation had hit her, it was replaced with an entirely new feeling that Wendy had never known before. Her whole body had begun to tingle with a sort of anxiousness, particularly her crotch, which she had a difficult time ignoring the urge to touch with her hand. Were these the Dragon Slayer hormones she had read about in the past? Was this the sensation of… being in heat?!
Although foreign, these new urges did not disturb or frighten the young girl one bit. In reality, they served to drive her even more wild as her hands began to act with a mind of their own as they started to unbutton Natsu's vest. Finishing her job, Wendy tossed the vest to the side as she ran her small fingers through Natsu's luscious pink locks, taking in all of the details of her new lover. Natsu also appeared to respond to these gestures, and Wendy figured that his hormones were most likely beginning to kick in as well. Moving his hands down from her cheeks and removing her hands from his hair so they didn't obstruct his own, they worked their way down to the straps of her dress as Natsu slid it off of her shoulders, exposing her bust but leaving her bra on.
Although she felt herself go even redder than she was before, Wendy did not reject Natsu's advances. She pulled away for a moment to allow the two to share a mutual moment of heavy breathing before she got up and slid the rest of her dress off, letting it fall to the ground as she kicked it to the side. Instinctively covering her chest and lower body with her hands, Wendy tried her hardest to avoid catching Natsu's eye as she looked the other way, pretending to be interested in the wooden door. Also getting off the bed, Natsu removed his belt and tossed it to the side as he let his baggy pants fall to the ground, leaving him almost completely naked save for his underwear. As much as Wendy wanted to look away, she continued blushing as she stared at the large lump that was obscured by the thinnest layer of cloth. Oh, how Wendy so desperately wanted to get rid of that cloth.
Resolving to take charge, Wendy got down to her knees and scooted over to Natsu as she nervously wrapped her hands around the waistband of his underwear and pulled them down, revealing Natsu in his full glory. Wendy gasped at the sight of Natsu's erect member, being the first she had ever seen with her own eyes while Natsu anxiously waited for her to make a move. Apprehensively poking it with her finger, she heard Natsu groan as he only grew in size at the contact. Taking it in her hand, she heard Natsu catch his breath as she began to rub his shaft gently, his member feeling like hot steel in her tiny hands. If Wendy thought Natsu's mouth was hot, his genitalia was like an oven that had exceeded the maximum temperature as it threatened to burn her mouth from the sheer heat.
"Am I doing okay, Natsu-san?" Wendy asked nervously.
"Yeah... definitely." Natsu replied, his face scrunched up as he bit his lip.
Should I use my mouth, too? Wendy thought. She recalled Cana mentioning something of the sort feeling very pleasurable to men a few months ago, and Wendy knew that Cana was quite knowledgeable in said field. Still, Wendy wasn't sure such a large object would even fit in her mouth, and Natsu would probably start laughing if she choked on his penis.
It'd be useful if I were more skilled in these sort of things, but I would never have imagined doing them with anyone else than Natsu-san, Wendy thought. It can't hurt to try though, right?
Wanting to do her best to please him, Wendy daringly placed her hand at the base of his dick and planted her lips on the head of his penis, taking the tip into her mouth. Going further, she slid the rest of Natsu's pole down deeper into her throat, engulfing half of his rod and sending Natsu into a frenzy.
"Fuck, Wendy!" he exclaimed, grabbing onto her head with one of his hands for support as she felt him shudder from her act of fellatio.
Although she couldn't even hope to fit the rest of his dick in her mouth, she maintained a steady back and forth motion, emitting an array of slurping noises as she felt Natsu's body temperature continue to rise.
I can't believe it! She has absolutely no experience and she's sucking my cock like a pro! Natsu shouted internally.
Feeling a sharp pain in his temples and around his lower back, Natsu felt around his head with his free hand and gasped when he felt the tiny points of his horns poking out from his pink locks. Hurriedly searching his back, he too noticed that his tail had begun to grow, slowly but surely as Wendy continued pleasuring him, unbeknownst of his transformation that was still under way.
WHY IS THIS HAPPENING NOW?! Natsu screamed in his head. I DIDN'T EVEN GET TO EXPLAIN THIS TO HER! WHAT IF I SCARE HER OFF?!
As badly as Natsu wanted to bolt out the door and flee deep into the forest to regain his composure, he was a little... unable to move with his current situation. Wendy had closed her eyes while she sucked him off, so for now, he didn't need to worry about her seeing his budding E.N.D form. However, he wasn't so sure his own endurance would allow him enough time to change back, as Wendy continued to assault his genitalia with unbelievable skill and technique. Licking and slurping, Wendy had completely immersed herself in her job of pleasuring him, and Natsu felt the fire in his belly growing ever more restless.
This is bad, this is bad, this is REALLY bad, Natsu thought. Either I'm about to fully transform in front of her and probably send her running off in terror, or I'm about to blow in her mouth. But God damn, how is this girl so incredible?!
Oddly enough, even as unskilled as she believed herself to be, Wendy felt extremely comfortable doing something like this for Natsu. It was almost like it was instinctual, like these techniques and steps for mating had been ingrained in her mind from birth, lying dormant until this very moment. She could read exactly which spots set him off, where to wrap her tongue and at what times to bob her head back and forth, all the while slurping away at his length. Wendy had done her research about sex and the human body, and she also picked up some tips from Cana on the subject, much to every other female member's disapproval.
Cana had taught her that as a woman, it was her job to pleasure her man to the point of his climax, which Wendy also learned was known more commonly as "cumming." Cana also instilled the idea of "spitters are quitters" in her mind, although it didn't really click in her head until now, when she was actually doing the deed. Natsu's hot pre-cum dripped down her throat like molten lava, which threatened to scald her while she continued to slurp away, unbeknownst of Natsu's predicament.
The tingling in Wendy's crotch had finally become unbearable, and she used her free hand to lightly rub her clit, her pussy dripping hot love juices like a faucet. Natsu's horns were almost completely grown, and his tail wagged back and forth with excitement like a happy dog.
Oh shit, this is it... I need to find a way out of here, and fast, Natsu thought. I might have to knock her out.
As he raised his fist and ignited it to give her a strike light enough to not leave too much damage but knock her unconscious, he found that he was... unable to do so. Even if it was with good intention, he was absolutely incapable to lay a hand on the girl. He grit his teeth at his own lack of resolve.
If I don't do this, then she'll find out about my true nature, and then what?! I can't... I can't let that happen! Natsu argued with himself.
"Natsu-san?" he heard her ask, and he looked down at his fiancée with wide eyes as she looked back up at him to meet his gaze.
"W-Wendy..." he stammered.
"Are you r-really... Natsu-san?" she questioned softly.
"Wendy, I... I'm..." Natsu began, but he was unable of speech in his current state of shock. Her mouth still agape, Wendy got to her feet and hesitated for a moment before resting her hand over his heart.
"Your heart still feels like Natsu-san's..." she said, moving her hand to his cheek.
"You still look like Natsu-san, your eyes look like Natsu-san's..." she continued, moving her hand yet again upwards to feel one of his horns.
"But this... this isn't Natsu-san's. Whose is this, Natsu-san?" she asked him quietly.
"Wendy... I'm sorry, I'm so sorry." Natsu sobbed, tears streaming down his face.
"Why, Natsu-san?" Wendy asked.
"I'm a m-monster. I am... E.N.D, Wendy." Natsu admitted, hanging his head in shame.
"You're... E.N.D." Wendy repeated.
"Yeah. I should have told you earlier, before all of this, but I just... didn't know how. I only learned a year ago, but ever since, I've kept it a secret to myself. I didn't want you to learn like this, I just... wanted you to be happy." Natsu continued, tears hitting the floor of his house as he grit his teeth in anger.
Clenching her own fists and pulling him into a hug, Natsu stopped crying long enough to look down at her squeezing him tightly.
"Idiot, you think you've made me unhappy?!" Wendy shouted.
"Wh-What?" Natsu said in disbelief.
"I love you, Natsu-san. No matter what you are, demon, human or dragon. How could I be angry at you for something that's out of your control?" Wendy said.
"Well... I was just afraid that you'd run off when you found out about who I really am." Natsu replied solemnly.
"Did you really think I was that shallow? Besides, I think it's kinda cute." Wendy said with a giggle, feeling his horns.
"I'm pretty sure this is the farthest thing from cute..." Natsu said to himself, sweat-dropping.
As she was in the middle of feeling him up, Wendy suddenly fell to her knees, falling to her side and laying spread out on the floor.
"Wendy! Are you okay?!" Natsu asked frantically.
"Natsu-san, I can't take it any more... please..." Wendy moaned, both hands on her crotch which Natsu observed to be dripping like a fountain with juices.
She's really turned on. I suppose I should do something, although the floor wasn't my ideal spot for our first time, Natsu thought.
Picking her up with both arms and carrying her over to his bed, he plopped her down on the mattress as she looked up to see Natsu staring back down at her, member hard as a rock and a bead of sweat dripping down his face. Igniting his hand, Natsu casually burned off the remainder of her clothing so she was now completely naked, but that didn't seem to faze her.
"Natsu-san, please put it in here..." Wendy whispered, spreading open her lips with her fingers.
Damn, she's completely out of it, Natsu thought. Still, it's my job to make her feel good, so I'll do as she says.
"Wendy, if it hurts, tell me, alright?" Natsu asked.
Nodding her head silently, Natsu lined up his cock with the entrance to Wendy's vagina and thrust forward with all his might, eliciting a loud yelp that was somewhere between pain and pleasure from Wendy. Immediately after penetrating her, Natsu saw Wendy arch her back as her walls clenched down extremely tightly on him as a gust of wind formed around the two, taking him by surprise. Feeling a difference in the magic in the air, Natsu saw that Wendy had entered her Dragon Force, her hair having changed to match his own hair's colour and small patches of feathers popping up around her body.
"Oh, Dragon Force?" Natsu said with an interested tone. "Did you enter Dragon Force because you came the moment I put it in, Wendy?"
Wendy said nothing but simply moaned, her head still spinning as she lay lifeless on the bed.
"Well, so much for our exciting night." Natsu grumbled, starting to pull out only to be stopped by Wendy, whose head snapped up at his movements as she grabbed both his arms and looked him in the eye with a fierce expression.
"I'm not... done yet." Wendy said quietly, her face gone scarlet.
Grinning at her determination, he nodded in reply and thrust into her once more, earning another moan from Wendy that sounded nothing less than complete pleasure. Accelerating his pace, he slammed into her with a smooth rhythm, Wendy gripping onto his back for support as he indulged in her body's full glory. Leaning forward and kissing her passionately, Natsu groped her supple breasts as she did her best to keep relatively composed but ended up pulling away from Natsu's lips to let out an erotic cry of excitement.
"Natsu-san, you're incredible!" Wendy shouted.
"You're the one that's incredible, Wendy. Look at these breasts," Natsu replied, feeling one in his hand, "it's like they're completely moulded for my hand alone."
"Yes, only for you, Natsu-san..." Wendy mumbled.
"You've no idea how happy I am to know that you belong to me and only me, Wendy." Natsu said, leaning in to suckle one of her nipples, teasing her with his tongue.
"Noooo! Natsu-san, you can't suck on them like that! If you do, I'll go crazy!" Wendy shrieked.
Pausing his assault on her mounds, Natsu looked down to grin at her and said,
"You say that, but the truth is it really turns you on, doesn't it?"
"Nooo! That's not true..." Wendy squeaked, covering her face with her hands.
"Every time I put one in my mouth, you clamp down even harder on me. Could it be you're actually quite perverted, Wendy?!" Natsu teased.
"O-Of course n-not!" Wendy replied.
Laughing heartily to himself, Natsu wiped a tear from his eye and said,
"Alright, then. I'll give you what you really want. Flip over for me, Wendy."
Doing as he commanded, Wendy turned herself over on the bed and lay in the position Natsu instructed her to lie in, her ass in the air while her face was planted on the mattress.
"What are you do- EEEEEEEEK!" Wendy began, but she shrieked in surprise as Natsu suddenly plunged into her, hitting her womb with the force of a thousand men.
"I'm not hurting you, am I?" Natsu questioned, regret present in his voice.
"No, that's not it... it just felt really good, that's all." Wendy replied, clenching the bedsheets in her hands. "Please continue."
"With pleasure." Natsu said, ramming her with a speed he hadn't attained previously as the sound of their skin slapping against each other echoed off of the stone walls of Natsu's home.
"God, an ass like this on a teenage girl should be illegal!" Natsu shouted, gritting his teeth and smacking her on her thick cheeks, sending a ripple through her skin like a wave as she squealed in delight.
"Thinking of how other men must look at you in the guild or in the streets... it makes me mad as hell." Natsu growled.
"It- It's okay, Natsu-san. You'll protect me from all those watchful eyes, won't you?" Wendy asked.
"If anyone so much as lays a finger on you, I'll fucking kill them. You belong to me now." Natsu replied, leaning down and nibbling on her ear with his sharp fangs.
"Yes, only you... Natsu-sama." Wendy moaned, adding a new honorific to his name.
Natsu-sama? Natsu thought. Well, it's kind of endearing in its own way.
"You're too damn cute, Wendy." Natsu said with a chuckle. "I love you so much."
"I love you too, Natsu-sama. Never let me go, alright?" Wendy said hopefully.
"I wouldn't dream of it." Natsu whispered in her ear, resuming his merciless pounding as Wendy also continued her screams of pleasure.
Holding both her arms behind her back, Natsu gave her no rest while he slammed against her, and he soon began to feel his own god-like endurance failing him.
"Shit, Wendy, I think I'm gonna..." Natsu began, but Wendy interrupted him.
"Wait! Before you do that, can you please... look me in the eye while we make love?" Wendy asked.
Pulling out of her and flipping her over onto her back, Natsu picked her up in his arms and held her so Wendy's legs were wrapped around his back and her arms around his neck as they were touching noses while Natsu held her in the air.
"This good enough for you?" Natsu questioned.
"Yes, now please, Natsu-sama..." Wendy begged.
Not even needing to respond, Natsu plunged into her, Wendy digging her nails into his back as she yelped in ecstasy.
This is it, the final push, Natsu thought.
Fucking her with all of his strength and speed he had remaining, Natsu relished in the sweet scent of their sweaty bodies pressed tightly together while Wendy moaned from their copulations.
"Wendy, I need to pull out..." Natsu began, but Wendy put a finger to his lips.
"Natsu-sama, if it's not asking too much of you, please, stay inside of me until the end." Wendy begged, a sparkle in her eyes that Natsu had not seen before.
"Ah, how could I argue with that face." Natsu said with a grin.
Finally letting loose, Natsu released his hot load inside of her as Wendy screamed in excitement as she too came with him, their bodies melting together while they stayed connected at the waist for a good minute until Natsu fell to his knees, still clutching Wendy like she would slip away if he let go. Breathing heavily, Natsu fell onto his back next to Wendy, who looked pretty out of it to begin with.
Turning his head to look at her and running a hand through her pink locks, they returned to their normal colour of a deep blue as she exited her Dragon Force. Snoring loudly, Wendy seemed to have fallen asleep after the act, and Natsu smiled warmly at her sleeping form as he got to his feet and carried her over to his bed. Seeing as his only blanket was stained with their bodily fluids, he burned it in his hand and replaced it with his spare as he tucked her in, kissing her on the forehead and taking a seat by himself in the corner.
"What a night." Natsu mumbled to himself, laughing at the events that had gone down only minutes ago.
Looking over at his fiancée sleeping soundly with an almost invisible smile on her face, Natsu couldn't help but feel an immense sense of accomplishment and pure joy.
I couldn't have guessed that in a million years, things would've worked out the way they did, Natsu thought to himself. Man, I'm tired. Maybe I'll just take a nap, just for a little bit… Natsu mumbled internally before slipping off to blissful unconsciousness, his head leaning against the stone wall of his home and knocking down a framed photo of Team Natsu, the glass shattering against the wooden floor.
Some Time Later…
When Natsu came to, he was no longer on the floor, but in his own bed which was unoccupied by his counterpart from the night before.
"Wendy? Wendy!" Natsu called out, shooting up in bed as he frantically scanned the room. Leaping out of bed and stepping out of the door, he realised that Wendy was nowhere to be found.
"WENDY! WENDY, WHERE ARE YOU?!" Natsu screamed, tears welling up in his eyes. Searching high and low through his blurred vision, Natsu didn't see a trace of the young bluenette.
The sun was beginning to creep over the horizon, and Natsu guessed it was relatively early in the morning. The loud chirping of birds off in the distant forest made his ears prick up, the rhythmic sounds of nature piercing the otherwise silent atmosphere. Natsu felt his knees going weak, and he had to fight the urge to collapse and start bawling.
"Wendy..." he sobbed, his lip quivering and his voice faltering.
However, when all hope seemed lost for the young man, a familiar voice poked at the very edge of his range of hearing. It was far off, but still audible, and it was unmistakably... Wendy!
Springing into action, Natsu darted off towards the source of the noise, his legs carrying him at a speed unattainable by normal human beings. The environment seemed to blur around him as he ran as fast as he possibly could, the sound of heavy wind blowing around him seeming deafening as he flew down the winding forest trails towards town.
Vaulting over a fallen tree, Natsu paused to catch his breath and further investigate the sound of her voice. She was much closer now, and Natsu could tell she wasn't alone, as he picked up a few other familiar friends accompanying her.
"Are you sure you want to surprise him like this, Wendy?" Natsu heard a voice he guessed was Lucy ask.
"Well, I'd think this is something that would make Natsu-sama happy." Wendy replied.
"Since when did you start calling him "Natsu-sama?" You remind me too much of Yukino." a voice that was unmistakably Gray questioned.
"Oh, well... I'm not sure, it just sounded right to me. Natsu-sama doesn't mind." Wendy said.
"If anything, it probably feeds his gigantic ego more than anything, being addressed as such." Erza added. At least, Natsu thought it sounded like Erza.
"Anyways..." Wendy began, trying to change the subject, "thank you all for helping me move my things into Natsu-sama's house."
"It's no problem, but you sure moved in with Natsu quickly, Wendy. What are you going to do about Charle?" Lucy asked.
"Well, if it's alright with Natsu-sama, then I'd like if we could all live under the same roof." Wendy replied.
"No way! Charle AND Wendy, living with Natsu and I?!" Happy exclaimed, making his presence to Natsu known after remaining silent for a while.
"Well, aren't you excited?" Gray asked with a chuckle.
"I will absolutely not be living under the same roof as the male cat!" Charle shot back, earning a laugh from the whole group.
After listening in on their conversation, Natsu let out a sigh of relief and slumped against a nearby tree, sliding down the trunk until he was sitting on the ground. For a moment, he really thought that she had gotten cold feet about being together with him and getting married, but he should have known better that Wendy wouldn't be so cruel as to abandon him like that.
Still, my house is a little small for the four of us, including Happy and Charle, especially if we wanted to start a family, Natsu thought. We might have to fix that.
Not much later...
Flanked by her friends, Wendy continued on her path towards Natsu's house, which was almost in view.
"Hey, Wendy, are you sure you're feeling alright? You've been walking with a weird limp since this morning." Lucy asked in a concerned tone.
The sound of Gray and Erza collectively face-palming was audible for miles at Lucy's comment.
"So clueless..." Gray muttered.
"What?! I'm not clueless!" Lucy shot back.
Erza came closer to the Celestial Mage and leaned in to whisper something in her ear, and Lucy's face went beet-red at whatever she had told her. Needless to say, that discussion has been swiftly ended.
"They really didn't waste any time..." Lucy muttered to herself as they walked while Wendy tried her hardest to ignore her.
"I'm kind of surprised she can walk at all..." Gray whispered back.
"I'M RIGHT HERE, YOU KNOW!" Wendy shouted, causing Gray and Lucy to cower in a mix of fear and embarrassment, ending their suggestive conversation.
"You know, Wendy, I have a pair of crutches if you need them-" Erza began to offer, but Wendy spun around at a breakneck speed with a look of anger in her eyes.
"Not funny." Wendy growled, causing even Erza to lose a little composure as she shut her mouth.
While Wendy admitted only to herself it was a little difficult to walk, there was no way in hell she would ever forget about the events of last night. From their engagement to Natsu's warm and sweaty body pressed tightly against her own, it all seemed like a dream that had yet to come to a close.
Spotting her fiancée waiting for her outside their home, she rushed over to him and gave him a rib-crushing hug.
"Natsu-sama, I'm so sorry for leaving you alone this morning, I only wanted to gather my belongings and move into your house. Please, forgive me." Wendy said apologetically.
"It's alright, Wendy. I got a little scared at first, but I shouldn't have doubted your loyalty. Still, I'm glad you were so eager to move in with me." Natsu replied, releasing her from his embrace.
"Well, I hoped you wouldn't mind..." Wendy admitted nervously.
"I really don't, but don't you think my house is a little small for you, me, Happy and Charle?" Natsu asked her.
"Well, I think we'll be alright, but a little extra room would be nice." Wendy replied truthfully.
"Just what I wanted to hear. Wendy, how would you feel about building a house?" Natsu questioned.
"Building our own house? It's a bit of an overwhelming job for two people..." Wendy said, sweat-dropping at the idea.
"Well, we'd obviously have the help of the guild, if they're willing to give us a hand." Natsu replied, looking over at his group of friends behind Wendy as if to ask if they were up to the task.
"Well, I suppose I'm willing to help my friends out." Lucy said.
"I don't really have anything going on." Gray added.
"We shall build the grandest house in all of Fiore!" Erza shouted, Requipping into a construction worker uniform.
"Looks like everyone else is more than willing, Wendy." Natsu said, turning back to her.
"Can we really do this, Natsu-sama?" Wendy asked.
"Of course! We're Fairy Tail, as long as we're all together, we can do anything!" Natsu exclaimed, flashing his toothy grin.
Giving him a watery-eyed smile, she nodded and allowed him to lead the team to the site they intended to build the house, which wasn't too far from his small stone one to begin with. Before Natsu turned to lead them all onwards, he noticed an almost invisible flickering in the young girl's eye. It was almost unnoticeable, and it might have just been his imagination, but he could've sworn that when she beamed back at him, her pupils had become a light shade of gold, her fangs just a little longer than normal.
Over 500 Years Later, Year X-1301
"Come on, Mama, tell me another bedtime story!" the blue-haired child said, pleading with his mother.
"Well, I suppose we have time for one more story. How about a story about Masters Natsu and Wendy?" the red-haired woman offered.
"Ooh, yes, please!" the child replied, bouncing up and down under the covers.
"Sit still, son, and I will tell you my favourite of all the stories my grandmother used to tell me of our guild." the woman said, and the child ceased his squirming and lay down patiently.
"Many, many years ago, far before my time, your grandmother's time and her grandmother's time, there existed two members of our guild that would come to shape the future for hundreds of years to come. Their names were Natsu Dragneel and Wendy Marvell. The two Dragon Slayers met on a mission to defeat a Dark Guild that has long since been destroyed known as Oracion Seis. For the years to come after that, it was said that Master Wendy fell in love with Master Natsu, and she confessed her feelings to him on the night of her sixteenth birthday. Much to her surprise, Master Natsu returned her feelings of affection and proposed to her that day, and the two married only a month later." the woman began, recalling an ancient tale from the past.
"But Mama, if Master Natsu and Master Wendy got married that long ago, why are they still alive? You said they look just as young as you and Daddy!" the boy questioned.
"I'm getting there, son. Soon after, the previous master, Makarov, retired from his position and handed it off to Master Natsu and Master Wendy. Even though Master Natsu is technically the only Master, he refuses to make a decision without consulting Master Wendy first, so the two share their power equally when it comes to managing the guild. One day, it's said that Master Natsu and Master Wendy called a guild meeting that required each and every member of Fairy Tail present for whatever it was they needed to discuss. Two weeks later, all the members of Fairy Tail had gathered at the guild hall, and it is there that Masters Natsu and Wendy revealed their greatest secret." the woman continued.
"What is it Mama?!" the boy eagerly badgered.
"Masters Natsu and Wendy are not human, in fact, but demons created by the Black Wizard Zeref nearly a thousand years ago. Such explains why they're so old but look as young as your father or I." the woman answered.
"D-Demons?! Masters Natsu and Wendy are monsters, Mama?!" the boy asked frantically.
"Tatsuya, what have I always told you about passing judgement on others?" Tatsuya's mother asked him.
"Well, you said to never speak ill of something that is out of someone's control…" Tatsuya replied.
"Do you think our Masters chose not to be human?" his mother asked.
"No, Mama." Tatsuya answered gloomily.
"It's okay to be surprised, Tatsuya, but you know just as well as I that our Masters are the furthest thing from monsters that one can be. Shall I continue with the story?" she said.
"Yes, please." Tatsuya replied.
"Well, after the shocking reveal at the guild meeting, there was quite the mixed reception when it came to this revelation. Some members were unable to accept the reality of the situation, while others voted on killing Master Natsu, as Zeref and his guild of demons, Tartarus, had caused the world quite a bit of grief. In the end, however, most members came to live with the fact that their friends were all but human, and life resumed fairly normally. All members of Fairy Tail were sworn to secrecy about the matter, that is… until an ex-member of the guild leaked information about the matter to the Magic Council." Tatsuya's mother said.
"Someone told?!" Tatsuya gasped.
"Yes, a man by the name of Doranbolt contacted the Magic Council with the information that Fairy Tail was not only harbouring two demons of Zeref's books, but that Master Natsu was the most powerful demon of them all, known as E.N.D. Soon after, Fairy Tail was attacked yet again, but this time, the Magic Council had an agenda: kill Masters Natsu and Wendy." Tatsuya's mother replied, looking out of the open window and out into the moonlit street.
"We were completely unprepared, as we had never dreamed one of our own would betray us with such information. Our guild was attacked by all Ten Wizard Saints at once, the Ten Wizard Saints being some of the most powerful mages alive. Not wanting to allow members to be caught in the crossfire, Masters Natsu and Wendy ran off towards the mountains, allowing the Ten Wizard Saints to follow them in order to minimise casualties of innocent people. Nobody saw or heard from Masters Natsu or Wendy for two weeks, and right when they were presumed dead, they simply… returned. Drenched in the blood of their enemies, their clothes tattered and ripped, our Masters returned victorious. The Ten Wizard Saints were never heard from ever again, proclaimed dead after their battle with our Masters. The Magic Council never again dared to challenge Fairy Tail in fear of their own safety, and Fairy Tail continued to expand and grow increasingly in size every day. The secret that Masters Natsu and Wendy were demons became widespread news, and almost everyone they ran into cowered in fear in their presence. I should also mention that after their battle with the Ten Wizard Saints, Masters Natsu and Wendy were stuck in a demonic form for good, so they were stuck with their large, curvy ram-like horns and thin, black tails, giving them a generally frightening appearance to anyone that didn't know them better." Tatsuya's mother continued.
"Mama, why don't the Masters ever come around the guild anymore?" Tatsuya questioned sadly.
"Well, even if they haven't said it themselves, I believe our Masters find it difficult to return to the place they made so many memories with their friends that have long since passed away. My great-great-great-grandmother, Erza Scarlet, was one of the original members of Master Natsu and Master Wendy's team." Tatsuya's mother replied.
"Really?" Tatsuya asked.
"Yes, really. It's rare for the Masters to come around the guild hall more than once a month, but they usually send their Exceed companions Happy and Charle to convey messages on what needs to be done regarding the guild, so they aren't entirely absent from Fairy Tail. You know, I heard a rumour that if you go to the middle of the forest just outside Magnolia at dawn, you might be lucky enough to catch a glimpse of Master Wendy picking daisies in the field of flowers, or a sight of Master Natsu bathing in the stream. Of course, these are all just rumours, but it kind of makes our Masters seem like a fairy tale, doesn't it?" Tatsuya's mother said.
"Yeah, it sure does... " Tatsuya said dreamily.
"Okay, Tatsuya, time for bed. Good night." Tatsuya's mother said, turning off his bedside lamp and kissing him goodnight.
"Good night, Mama." Tatsuya replied before rolling over to face the window as his mother shut the door behind her.
I hope I'll get to meet the Masters one day… Tatsuya thought before beginning to doze off, enchanted by the story of the two Masters he hadn't had the pleasure of seeing with his own two eyes.
The Next Morning...
Natsu and Wendy seemed to awake at the same moment, their eyes fluttering open to meet each other's gaze as they lay in bed facing each other. Gently parting a loose strand of Wendy's hair with his hand, Natsu smiled at her lovingly, as Wendy smiled back and rested her head on his bare chest affectionately.
"Good morning, Natsu-sama." Wendy mumbled.
"Morning. So, what do you wanna do today?" Natsu asked her, petting her head.
"I was thinking we could go do something in town. Maybe go to lunch, or visit the guild?" Wendy suggested, her eyes still closed as she relished in his natural body heat.
"Yeah... I suppose." Natsu replied in an unenthusiastic voice.
"Natsu-sama, I've actually been meaning to talk to you about that." Wendy said.
"Hm? What's that, Wendy?" Natsu asked.
"I know how you feel about going to the guild... really, I do. Fairy Tail isn't the same as it once was, but we have to accept the fact that we're immortal, and we'll unfortunately end up outliving normal human beings. Don't you think we're being unfair distancing ourselves from the newer generation?" Wendy questioned.
"Well... you have a point. Maybe we are being unfair, maybe we are being selfish and negligent to those under us. Then again, we haven't neglected our responsibilities as Masters, and Fairy Tail is as successful as its always been. Besides, who are they to insist that we return? They don't understand what it's like to be immortal, how dare they pass judgement on us!" Natsu replied, growing angry at his guildmates.
"Natsu-sama, nobody is judging us. You might think they don't, but the guild understands why we act the way we do, at least a little bit. Don't you think that everyone misses us, that they want to get to know the ones leading their guild, to understand what they've been through? We're basically an urban legend among the guild, and the only reason people don't say we're awful Masters is because we give them orders from the shadows that hold the guild together, even if we aren't present. You said it yourself, Natsu-sama, Fairy Tail is a family. Whenever we need a shoulder to lean on, all of the guild is there to support us. Isn't it about time we stop being hypocrites and start acting like the real heads of our family?" Wendy replied, looking him in the eye. Her pupils had long since changed to a beautiful shade of pale gold, Natsu's to a deep shade of crimson.
"Jeez, nobody makes me feel like a bigger idiot than you, Wendy. Maybe that's why I love you so much." Natsu said with a grin, kissing her on the forehead.
"We sure have been through a lot together, huh, Natsu-sama?" Wendy asked with a giggle.
"I think if it had been anyone else, I would've gone crazy a long time ago." Natsu replied. "Okay, Wendy, let's go visit the guild."
Getting out of bed together, the couple made their way to the river for their morning bath. Disrobing her and sticking his hand in the stream to heat it to a warmer temperature, he bowed comically and gestured for her to get in. Thanking him and doing just that, she stepped into the water gently, easing into the stream when she felt it was as warm as a sauna, allowing her muscles to relax and lose their tension. Following suit, Natsu removed his already-thin layer of clothing and stepped into the water as well, wading over to her position and jokingly half-submerging his face in the water, as if to pretend he was a shark. Sinking deeper into the water and leaving only his horns sticking out on the water's surface like a shark fin, he leapt up and onto Wendy, comically nibbling on her fingers while she cried tears of laughter at his actions.
It was surprising to Wendy, for as intimidating as he looked, that he remained as dorky and playful as over five hundred years ago. Changing the nature of his play, he began to tease at her breasts that were still submerged underwater, rubbing them with his gentle ferocity that Wendy had come to know all too well. If Wendy had thought Natsu's sex drive was high hundreds of years ago, it certainly hadn't diminished at all over the long period of time they'd been together. In fact, Wendy would say that after he became stuck in E.N.D form, his lust had almost doubled from its previous level. Since they were alone in the forest, aside from the semi-regular visit from Happy and Charle, they spent long hours each day copulating in the wilderness, the sound of slapping flesh echoing throughout the forest for days on end. Much to their frustration, it appeared demons were unable to breed, no matter how hard and frequently they tried for children.
At the same time, even if they were able to have kids, would they even want to bring a child into their broken world? Did either of them want to end up outliving their son or daughter, to see them grow old while they looked as youthful as teenagers?
Questions like these always bounced around inside Wendy's mind. While she had come to know her husband like the back of her hand after all the time they had spent together, she always found it difficult to guess what was on his mind. Sometimes he wouldn't even tell her what he was thinking. She worried about him daily, the idea that he was suffering from some internal conflict making her heart ache.
After minutes of passionate kissing and mutual nipping of the neck, Natsu wasted no time plunging into her from behind, water splashing around the two as he slammed into her while she screamed in delight. At times, Wendy felt as though sex was an escape from the daily frustration Natsu felt at living alone with her in the forest, deprived of friends or any real goal. Although he never once hurt her or did anything to discomfort her in all the time she had known him, Wendy could tell when he was angry at something. The tension in his muscles, the small breath of fire he let loose from his mouth while they were pressed against each other, Wendy could feel them all.
After hundreds of years, Wendy had come to love and learn every detail of Natsu's body. She adored the way he cradled her head in his hand while they copulated, her fingers digging into him and her legs wrapped around his back while he poked at her womb with his hot penis, driving her mad with ecstasy. Whether it was in the river, in a brilliantly green meadow or on a picnic blanket under the stars, no place in the forest was foreign to their acts of love, but the river had to be one of Wendy's favourites.
Bringing her to the point of a climax, Wendy arched her back in pleasure as she came with Natsu, his hot load filling her to the brim as they stood in the centre of the river for a moment to catch their breath. Lowering her down back into the water, Natsu separated from her as he did her the courtesy of washing her back, taking a long whiff of her scent before turning around and asking him if she would do the same.
After they finished their "bath", they dried themselves off and put on fresh clothes, Wendy donning a white and gold dress with matching bangles while Natsu threw on a black tank top and his age-old baggy pants with a pair of boots, his Tartarus guild mark visible on his arm over the spot his Fairy Tail mark used to be. Wendy too had the same mark on the arm opposite of Natsu's, and they seemed to be unable to remove or replace it with their own guild mark, since the stamper had no effect when they tried to get another Fairy Tail mark. Oddly enough, they could still see and hear the First Master, Mavis, even with their lack of a their old insignias.
Walking hand in hand to the guild, they took in how much Magnolia had changed over the course of half a millennium. The town had increased the size of its borders, the number of buildings doubling along with the population. With the increase in population, new guilds began to build their headquarters in town, but Fairy Tail had great influence over most of them, causing their members to frequently come to their guild for anything from requests for help to financial aid, all of which Fairy Tail provided. Through the networking of job requests and guild alliances, Fairy Tail's influence had spread across the entire continent, making them a national superpower which held great power in all of Fiore's affairs.
Approaching their massive guild hall, Natsu and Wendy spotted the guard at the door take one look at the two and hurry inside with a swiftness they hadn't seen from any Fairy Tail member before, shouting something about "the Masters being here!" as the idle chatter that Natsu and Wendy could audibly notice came to a halt. Scratching his head in confusion, Natsu walked up to and opened the door to find all members of the guild in attendance, all members kneeling deeply upon their entrance.
"Masters Natsu and Wendy! To what do we all owe the honour of your presence?!" the closest member shouted from his position on the ground, his head facing the wooden floor.
"What's the deal with all this?" Natsu questioned the young man.
"We were just showing our respect for our Masters-" the boy began, but Natsu cut him off.
"Stand up, boy." Natsu commanded, and the young man did as he said, looking him in the eye with a look of suppressed fear.
"All of you, stand up!" Natsu roared, the members in attention scrambling to their feet.
"From here on out, there's going to be a few changes in our guild. First order of business, you will never treat me or my wife in the manner you have today. We aren't kings or queens, nor are we dictators that demand that you hold us with the utmost respect. You have no need to bow to either of us, so please stop acting so formal. Next, we feel as though we haven't spent nearly enough time at our guild as of late, and starting now, both my wife and I wish to learn each and every one of your names. You will all come introduce yourselves to the two of us, so form a queue of some sort while we get settled." Natsu announced, his voice booming throughout the room.
Making his way to the front of the room and taking a seat on his throne made of gold (it was a gift, Natsu swore), allowing Wendy to sit on his lap while the members scampered into a makeshift queue to introduce themselves. One by one, the two Masters greeted their guildmates, letting them speak for a minute on who they were before exiting the queue to allow the next person to go. They met a few young members that greatly resembled some of their friends from long ago, a girl with blonde hair done up in a ponytail, a young man with an odd habit of not wearing clothing and one of the greater surprises, a young boy named Tatsuya with blue hair and the same odd tattoo Jellal was born with on his eye.
After they had gotten acquainted with each Fairy Tail member, they announced that they would now be visiting the guild daily, and each and every member was responsible for doing their best while they were away, which everyone happily cheered to in agreement. It was a nice feeling of nostalgia, to see the smiling faces of their comrades that gave every day one hundred and ten percent and always strove to do their best in all walks of life.
Walking back to their home deep in the forest, Wendy couldn't help but look up at the clear blue sky, a sense of ease and comfort washing over her. From the familiar squeezing from Natsu's hand to the unique scent that the air of Magnolia held, Wendy felt an odd sense of contentment in that moment that she had yet to feel for hundreds of years.
Things might have been rough, and the holes that the passing of their friends left in their heart hadn't healed yet, but in that split second, walking side by side with the man she loved, Wendy truly felt at peace.
