Many things had happened in the last two weeks. Dean and Cas had woken up to a creepy congratulations after the night Cas had proposed. They still weren't sure how Garth knew about that. The four men had gone on many picnics and made spent as much time together as the could after the day that Dean got his draft letter. It was now the day they were all dreading.

Sam and Garth had felt that Cas had been "hogging" Dean for the past two weeks. It seemed as if Cas thought he was the only one who loved Dean. Sam loved him as his brother, and Garth... Garth just loves people.

However, for Cas, it was the opposite. If he was hogging Dean, he didn't know it. It seemed like the two younger boys were always with him. They always glared at him when he tried to pull Dean away. Cas didn't know what to do, he wanted to spend more time with Dean, but he didn't want it to be tense when it was just him, Sam, Garth. It hardly mattered now, Dean was leaving today.

Cas rolled over and felt the covers next to him. Empty. He sat up in a panic. Was Dean already gone? Could he have left without saying goodbye?

Cas ran frantically into the rest of the house. Dean was in the kitchen, making pancakes. He took a deep breath. Dean was still here. Good.

Dean smiled. "Did you think I'd left? Without saying goodbye? You must have a low opinion of me."

Cas punched him playfully in the arm, then hugged him tightly.

"Woah!" said Garth, who seemed to come out of nowhere. This made Dean and Cas, still locked together in a hug, turn around suddenly then tumble to the floor.

"Scandalous!" shrieked Garth.

"Dude, shut up," Dean said, pulling himself up. He offered a hand to Cas, who took it. Cas was feeling much happier than he had when he had first woken up that morning, but the happiness was quickly replaced with sorrow. After today, he could no longer wake up to Dean making breakfast. He would no longer be kissed lightly as they parted for work. Everything would be so much worse without Dean.

Dean turned to him and Cas quickly put on a smile. He had to keep calm for Dean, after all, he had it the worst. He had to go out and kill people. Dean would have been much happier if the war had been against demons or monsters, but these were people. Most of the soldiers were doing what they thought was right, defending their country. He had worked all his life to save people and now he was being forced to kill them. Cas had to be strong for his fiancé.

Dean served everyone their pancakes. They all ate in silence. Sam tried to start a conversation, but choked up and got teary-eyed.

Soon it was time for Dean to leave. He stood tall in his uniform. It was dark brown-green and Dean looked extremely handsome in it. At another time, Cas would have been pleased by how attractive Dean was in uniform, but it just made him start to miss Dean already.

Garth burst into tears and hugged Dean for almost ten minutes straight. Sam tried to control himself, but tears were streaming down his face too. The boys said their farewells and scampered off.

Dean turned to Cas. His green eyes were misty with tears. Cas was tearing up too. He grabbed Dean and hugged him fiercely, letting the tears soak his uniform. Finally, they puled apart.

"Cas, promise you'll write me. I want to know everything that happens to you."

"I will," Cas looked up at him. "Come home as soon as you can. Then we'll get married and live happily ever after."

"Alright, I will, I promise." He looked at his watch. "I have to go catch the train. I love you Cas." Dean took Cas's face in his hands and kissed him quickly.

"I love you too," Cas said through a tearful smile.

Dean smiled back and headed for the train.
