Chapter 31

Riker POV

I couldn't stop my legs from shaking. I was staring at her father, helplessly, waiting for him to start yelling at me.

"Riker, I know you've been dating my daughter. I just talked to her."

"W-where is she?"

"She's in bed. She's still shaken up."

He seemed so calm! It was like torture wondering what was going through his mind.

"My daughter has loved your band for so long, I can't even remember. She told me everything. The crash, sneaking out this morning, and you sneaking in and out her window."

He looked so mad. He already looked scary enough when he wasn't mad. Now he looked terrifying.

"She also told me how you snuck in to set up a romantic dinner for her."

My mind was racing. Why had she told him everything!?

"You make my daughter very happy. The last boy I saw her with made her very happy too. But I could tell he was bad news. I ended it before anything could ever happen."

I was sitting on the edge of my chair, sweating, shaking, hoping for this to be over soon.

"It's obvious how much she cares about you. She put up a good fight a few minutes ago. I can make it so you can never see her again. But if I did that, I know Alex will fight against me, just like she always does. I've never let my daughter date anyone before."

Alex's father stood up.

"Alex doesn't know it yet, but you're her first ever boyfriend to be approved by me," he said, walking away.

Wait… What?

I watched as he walked into his bedroom, and closed the door. I felt a rush of cold air come over me, as I relaxed, and started to calm down. I slowly got up, feeling slightly dizzy at first, and started walking quietly to Alex's room. I opened her door, to see her sitting on her bed, looking back at me like I was crazy. Her father obviously hadn't told her anything.

"Your dad approved me as your boyfriend," I said as calmly as I possibly could.

Alex jumped up from her bed, ran over to me, jumped into my arms, and wrapped her arms and legs around me. I hugged her back, and carried her outside, and all the way down to the beach. I set her down on a picnic table.

"What happened!?" Alex asked.

"Your dad said you put up a fight for us, and I guess he thought it was ok for me to date you. I don't really know… But I thought you were done with us…? I thought you had given up...?"

"You wanted to know where the old Alex went. I found her. She thought you were right, so I fought for us. I never thought it would work though! That's so unlike my dad to give in like that! I don't know what happened!"

"I just can't believe it!"

"Believe what?"

I turned around to see Ellington walking toward us from the docks.

"Um…"

"Ellington, sit down," said Alex.

"Why?"

"We… need to talk. Riker, can you excuse us for a few minutes?"

"Yeah."

I turned and started walking to the docks. I walked down the nearest one, and sat down on the end of it. I watched as Alex and Ellington talked. After 5 minutes, they both stood up and hugged each other. Ellington started walking up the road. Alex came walking over to me, and sat down beside me. I put my arm around her as she leaned against my shoulder.

"What happened?" I asked.

"I told him everything that happened today. And… I made him ok about us dating. I know he had feelings for me, but I think he might be over me now."

I looked up and saw Rydel, and Rocky running down the road.

"You guys got in a car accident!?" Rocky yelled.

"Ross told us," said Rydel.

"Yeah. It was a drunk driver. Alex needed a few stitches, but we're fine," I said.

"You guys don't look fine," said Rocky.

"What?" I asked.

"Riker, I can clearly see Alex's makeup is all smeared, and you're my brother. I can tell when you've been crying."

"Rocky, I can't talk about this until I say something else first. Alex told me what you said to her. You can't threaten her like that! You're going around like you never said anything at all, and it's not ok!"

"Riker, I know. I was just mad and embarrassed. I almost screwed up your future with her. And Alex, I'm sorry. I should've never said that. I know you wouldn't hurt Riker. And I'm glad you're ok."

We all walked up to my house so we could tell everyone what had happened today. We decided to watch a movie afterwards. Alex and I shared the chair, just like last time. She was lying against me. I put my arms around her, and she looked up at me.

"I love you Riker."

She was finally mine again, and everyone was ok with that.

I turned toward her, took her head in my hands, and kissed her.

"I love you too Alex."
