Chapter 3
Nina stood outside as she listened to their conversation. She could hear the amusement in his voice when he explained how Nina, as he puts it, set him straight. Nina chuckles at his wording, knowing it was accurate. It surprised her when he also agreed with her observation of them. Then she smiles as she hears him confess his feelings to her.
We're finally getting somewhere. Baby steps, Northman.
She started to pace then stopped as soon as she heard Sookie speaking:
"If I accept to do this, will you be honest with me about everything?" Sookie asked.
"Yes. I promise you this, Miss Stackhouse. Whatever questions you have for me, I will answer truthfully."
"What's the catch?"
"Accept Nina's proposition, and join me on this...getaway."
"You promise me you'll tell me everything…if I accept to do this?" Sookie asked softly.
"I promise." Eric vowed. Nina gave them another moment alone, then popped back inside the house.
"Have you come to a decision?" Nina's voice said. They looked over at her who was leaning against the door jamb with her arms crossed over her chest.
"Yes, we have, and we accept your proposal." Eric replied. Nina nodded her head walking into the room further.
"Good," A rolled up piece of paper appears in her hand. She unrolls it, placing it flat on the table. "this whole getaway is to benefit you both. You'll be going to a secluded island, owned by my family…"
"And your family is okay with you renting it out to strangers?" Eric asked. Nina had a glint in her eye and gave him a mischievous smile.
"They're more than okay," was all she said. "What I've placed here on the table is a contract. You both must sign it in your own blood. It basically states that you have 7 days to learn about each other, to learn how to trust one another. On another note, it's time for you to think about the choices you made, talk about past events and to learn from them... All you have to do is sign and I'll send you to your destination."
"Wait, what about…"
"Don't worry, everything you need will be provided for both of you at the island." Sookie opened her mouth to ask about her job and friends, but Nina interrupted her. "You needn't worry about them either…" Nina trailed not offering an explanation.
"What of King Compton?" Eric says with derision. Nina chuckled.
"I'll handle the great King, Bill Compton!" Two ballpoint pens appeared in her hands, she handed one to Eric and the other to Sookie. "Press your finger against the needle, right there…" she pointed to it, "and sign the contract." She finishes. Sookie hisses as she pricks her finger, and then signs the papers. She was about to suck her finger, but Eric quickly grabbed her hand licking it clean his saliva healing her wound. He moaned at her taste, making Sookie gasp.
"Delicious." He says huskily. He pricks his finger, and then signs the papers. As soon as he finishes his signature, the contract starts to glow. It floats in the air, turns into a golden ribbon wrapping itself around Eric and Sookie's wrist. Sookie gasps.
"What just happened? What was that?" Sookie asked in awe.
"The contract is taking effect. There will be added benefits for the both of you…the contract you just signed has some magical properties you'll find…pleasing. And just a word of caution, you cannot under any circumstance, violate this contract. The consequences will be severe."
"What kind of consequences?" Eric asked.
"I honestly don't know for sure, from what I was told it would make your darkest fears come to life or something like that." Sookie's eyes widened at that.
"Yeah, the magic of this contract is that powerful. I suggest you both honor it." She says as she grabs Eric and Sookie's hand popping them to the island. Suddenly a wave of nausea hit them both, making Sookie empty the contents of her stomach in the sand and Eric shaking his head. Nina looked at them with concern, then sighed.
"Sorry about that. I should have prepared you for the sensation of popping with a fairy." She says, sheepishly. "It's common to get sick when you pop for the first time."
"I can't imagine why." Eric retorts sarcastically. Nina chuckles at him making her way towards a beach house. Eric stopped for a moment noticing it was sunny. He looked at himself, and noticed he wasn't burning. How can this be? Sookie gasps noticing it too.
"But…it's…daytime…how are you not burning?" she asked. He didn't answer her, but just stared up at the sky in shock.
"Hey!" She yelled, getting both their attention. "Are you coming or what?!" Nina waved her hands motioning them to come over. She approached the door not waiting for them and unlocked it. She pushed the door open walking over the threshold. She went over to an arm chair sitting down, waiting for the Viking and fairy to follow.
They finally walked through the door looking around the beach house in shock. Nina watched them silence for a moment, then spoke, "took you long enough…Now I know you're wondering how you are able to walk in the sun without burning, right?" Eric thought about it then it suddenly clicked.
"It's the magic of the contract, yes?" Nina nodded her head, pleased to know he was listening. "Are there any other…side effects we should know about?"
"Sookie's spark will be recharged, and her powers will magnify. In short, you'll almost be as powerful as a full fairy. The island itself is also magical…however I have no idea what magical properties it possesses other than cloak itself from unwanted visitors. I'm sure you'll find out soon enough. I'd give you both the tour myself, but I have a prior engagement. There will be a housekeeper here to assist you both, so please make yourselves at home and make the best of your time here. Bye now." Nina says with a smile popping into thin air. That leaves Eric and Sookie alone standing awkwardly in the living room.
The moment Sookie and Eric entered another realm, her tie with Bill disappeared. He gasped feeling nothing of his tie from Sookie. He rose from his chair and began to pace in his office, panicking and thinking. How was he going to get her to fall in love with again? How was he going to convince her to take his blood? He thought that after Sookie returned from wherever she was, she would be as good as his again. Clearly, this was not the case.
He was disappointed when she felt nothing but fear and distrust in Bill's presence; still wary of him. As soon as Eric showed up, Sookie was filled with love, trust and relaxation; making Bill angry at this. He hoped she still wanted nothing to do with him. Again, not the case. He had to find a way to change that; make her trust him and hate Eric. Like he did the first time.
She's simple and naïve, so it shouldn't be that hard to accomplish. Right?
He sped out his house heading straight to Sookie's property, when unexpectedly he ran into a barrier that prevented him from going further. He tried to push against the barrier, but it wasn't budging. Bill took a few steps back, then rushed ahead using his vampire speed, only to get thrown back into the cemetery that separated their properties.
What is the meaning of this?! What the hell has happened? What happened to Sookie? I bet Eric had something to do with this!
He got back up, this time slowly approaching the barrier. He pressed his palms against it, then banged against it with his fists, it still refusing to let him through.
What the fuck was going on?
Feeling angry, he sped back to home going straight into his office. He stopped in his tracks noting a pretty blonde sitting at his desk with her propped up on top. She had her hands tented together, giving him a smirk.
"Good evening, Compton." She sneered, feeling contempt for this lowly vampire. Bill fangs snapped out, snarling at the intruder and not liking her tone. Nina smiled wider knowing he wasn't powerful enough to take her.
"Who are you and what are you doing here?" he shouted. She sat still and said nothing giving him a smug smile. Nina couldn't believe this pinhead, and poor excuse for a vampire thought himself good enough to be a king. He was weak-willed, deluded and stupid. "Answer me!" he growled, not appreciating her insolence. Bill inched closer to his desk. Nina sighed.
"I will never understand what Sookie saw in you. As much as I hate to say this, she probably fell for you because you were the first man she ever fucked." She snickered, loving the indignant look on his face; she turned away from him and continued. "I mean, think about it…she was sheltered most of her life by her grandmother, isolated from everyone because of what she is and instead of using her telepathy to learn or grow, she ignored her power pretending she was normal. Poor gal…can't blame her though, her surroundings and upbringing made her this way. It made her think being different was a curse…it made her vulnerable to men like you!" Nina said with disgust pointing at him.
"If things had started out differently with her, she wouldn't have looked at you twice. I could tell she wasn't physically attracted to you. She was more attracted to the silence your mind provided for her. And I know that must have been a colossal relief for her. Imagine, being stuck in a room listening to the worst song ever on the highest volume setting for years, when suddenly it's turned off. I bet she felt like that." She finished facing Bill again. He looked at her confused, wondering what the point of this was. He opened his mouth to speak again, but she interrupted him.
"Yeah, yeah. Who am I and what am I doing here, and blah blah blah! I heard you the first time and I'm getting to that." She said, annoyed.
"You're a fairy, aren't you?" he asked, with realization. He was confused as to why she was here and talking about Sookie. Could she know where she disappeared to? Nina rolled her eyes.
"Oh goody! You do have some brain cells after all!" She retorted with sarcasm. Bill widened his eyes, then frowned.
"How can this be?" he asked. She scoffed.
"Not something for you to worry about. You can't be trusted with this kind of information." She paused, reading his aura; the colors changed from a cloudy green to deep pink. "I can tell by the color of your aura that you're up to no good. Yeah…I can see now. You need to give Sookie your blood to make her fall for you again…" She noticed the look of shock and panic on his face.
"I don't know what you're talking about." She laughed out loud this time.
"Really? Seriously? I can see your aura right now. It's a deep pink color, which can often be confused for love, but really, it means that you are not trustworthy. This color indicates deceit, dishonesty, and an immature person." She paused again, seeing black, deep pink and cloudy green swirl together. "Ahh, see now black is swirling with deep pink and cloudy green, now that means…"
"That's enough!" He yelled, not wanting to hear anymore. "You know nothing of my relationship with Sookie and I forbid you to…" This time Nina cackled, holding her stomach. She was amused with his delusions of grandeur and bullshit.
"What relationship? Oh, I know, you mean the relationship you forged from your blood. Okay, I get it now." She slaps her forehead with her palm. "Silly me…I guess now all you to do is give her blood and boom…she's all yours again. But see, that's not gonna happen this time around." Bill scoffed.
"And why is that?" he smirked.
"Because you won't be able to find her in time."
What do ya think? Like it? Love it? Neutral?
