Blake's POV:

It's Summer Break at Beacon Academy and it's time to relax, sleep in, and lounge around. Last year I was put on a team to fight side by side with for the remaining three years. My team name is RWBY and the captain is none other than Ruby Rose. We had to partner up with someone in our group so I partnered with Yang Xiao Long. She's a beautiful girl with amazing combat skills. She seemed most tolerable to be so close to. Besides, there was no way I would partner up with Weiss Schnee, a.k.a. the Ice Queen and Ruby had her eyes on her from the moment they exploded, so I wasn't gonna interfere. To be honest Yang has this weird thing about her, I can't really describe it. It's not bad, it's like I'm drawn to her. I don't know why. I suppose it's because we're polar opposites. Last year, everything changed when they found out I was secretly a Faunus. I wish that was all they found out though, I'm also an ex-terrorist. I used to be a member of the White Fang. A group of misguided Faunus who use violence to get equality among humans. I left when I realized what we were doing was wrong and hoped to escape but, you can't run from the past. Luckily, the people I'm teamed up with are caring and didn't mind that I am a Faunus, except Weiss but we got past that. I remember the dance they planned for me, knowing that I needed a break. I also remember my partner caring for me and saving me from the search for answers that was destroying me. Ever since that dance, I liked Yang. Not just as a friend or a partner but, more than that. To put it bluntly I have a crush on her...

"Hello? Blake, you awake sleepy head?", asked the blonde haired girl.

"Huh? Yang?" I mumbled still half asleep.

"Come on. You promised me we could go shopping today. I need a new pair of combat boots." Yang exclaimed, whining as she pulled on my leg to get me up.

"Gosh, Mom. Just let me sleep for a bit longer." I retorted sarcastically as I rolled over.

"Blake Belladonna, if you don't get your butt in the shower and get dressed I will tell everyone you are reading Ninjas of Love." She half playfully threatened.

"I-I have no idea what you are talking about." I denied hoping to get away with this.

"Oh just that extremely lewd book that you have sitting on the desk." she said back with a devilish grin.

"Okay, okay. I'm up just don't tell anyone. How did you find out, anyway? Were you snooping through my stuff again?" I asked slightly annoyed as I pulled out my outfit for the day.

"Hehe maybe. And if I was?" she asked softly chuckling.

"Ugh, never mind," I said rolling my eyes. "Sometimes I don't know what to do with you."

"Well, gee thanks love ya too, partner." She snorted.

I took a quick shower and got dressed. She's so weird and cheerful. Haha sometimes she drives me insane, but I don't know what I'd do without her. I walked out the bathroom with my usual attire. Yang was bouncing on my bed, being as hyper as ever.

"Finally," she complained. "Come on let's gooooooo."

She grabbed my hand and whisked me away. She was running really fast and I couldn't keep up due to the fact I was still kinda sleepy.

"Hey slow down." I said nearly falling.

"You're so slow. Fine come here." she laughed as she stopped moving.

"Um okay?" I said walking over. Before I knew it she picked me up bridal style and hugged me close.

"Wh- Wha-?" I asked turning all kinds of red.

"Hehe don't worry I gotcha." she smiled triumphantly.

She sped off carrying me like a kitten or baby. God, how ironic. The wind lashed at my face. I turned my face toward her, that way I didn't have to feel the wrath of wind. I felt a soft pillow and the warmth of familiar soft skin. I buried my face in it, letting my cat side getting the best of me.

"Ummm B-blake?" Yang stuttered.

"Yea," I purred. Pushing my face deeper.

"Ummm, we're here now. So, uh as much as I enjoy you having your face in my chest, we are kinda in public. Maybe later, K?" she said mischievously.

"Oh god." I blushed a deep shade of red. "I'm so fluffing sorry. I was just trying not to get whiplash from the wind and I…"

"Haha, naw it's cool don't worry about it, so may I put you down now? Or do you enjoy being carried?" she laughed.

"Oh yea I'm sorry." I muttered quietly, still embarrassed.

"So now that we're in Vale what would you like to do?" she asked perky as ever. Almost as though nothing happened. Almost. It seemed like she was … blushing?

"Well, we did come here to get you new boots. How about we get those first and then we can go enjoy ourselves." I smiled slightly.

"Sounds good, come on." she said waving for me to follow.

We walked to the store as she was telling corny puns. To which I rolled my eyes at, but couldn't help but smile. We got her boots which were exactly the same and strolled around laughing and talking for hours almost like a really fun date.

Hold on what? Why did I just think that? No we're just friends. Right?

"Hello? Earth to Blake? Are you even listening? Ello?" she said waving a hand in front of my face.

"Oh I'm sorry I guess I zoned for a minute." I responded feeling terrible.

"It's fine. Are you not having fun? Is that why you spaced out?" she asked with genuine concern and what looked like… hurt?

"No! I am, I promise. Just a bit tired I suppose." I said back, slightly losing my normally calm composure.

"Hmmm," she pondered. "Oh I know. Why don't we go get coffee, my treat."

She gave me a big goofy grin. And gestured me to take her arm.

"Really? Thank you." I smiled at her and we linked arms.

The smell of coffee and pastries filled my lungs. It smelt amazing. We sat down outside it the hot dry air with our iced coffee. I was playing with the stirrer, when Yang looked at me with conflicting emotions.

"Blake, I have s-something I wanna say. In fact, I've wanted to say it for a while now. Blake." she took a deep breath.

This is weird Yang is usually so confident and jokey. Right now she's shy and nervous. It's cute. Wait what. Why the hell am I thinking weird things and is she blushing? Hold on is she going to confess her feelings towards me? No that's not it. We're just friends. I know maybe she got a boyfriend. That's awesome if she did, but why does that make my chest hurt?

"Blake, I really li- " she started getting cut of by a familiar voice.

"Hey guys! What are you doing here?" Weiss said a few steps in front of Ruby.

"Great" Yang muttered.

She looked at me and smiled and then turned to Weiss and Ruby smiling and laughing. Telling them of our adventures, but when she smiled at me I saw sadness and longing in her eyes.
