*Okay so this is my first One Tree Hill story. I do not own OTH or any of the characters except for the ones I create for my story personally. I have seen every episode of OTH and I love Lucas and Peyton so this story will revolve around them. Unfortunately for the story to be proper I have to include Lindsey. Also I was going to keep the name Sawyer in this but it didn't seem to fit with my direction so I hope that doesn't break anyone's hearts. I'm also terrible at math so please forgive me when it comes to setting apart years. I feel like this story has been done a lot but I wanted to do it my way and sometimes people don't finish the story. I promise I will finish mine. Also go read my Finchel story if you like Glee. :)
Summary: Lucas and Lindsey got married 3 years ago. They moved to New York because Lindsey was afraid Lucas would fall in love with Peyton again. Now Lucas is insisting they move back. They are in for a big surprise when they return home to some new family members. How will Lucas react? How will Peyton deal with the stress? What has everyone been up to? Find out in Guilty Mind
Madison pushed the plate into the middle of the table. "I don't want it."
"Why not?" Karen questioned.
Madison pouted. "I want cake."
"Mommy said not until later at your party." Karen stated.
Madison got mad and pounded on the table.
"I think someone needs a nap." Karen said picking the child up from her high chair.
"No." Madison screamed. "I want mommy."
"She is at work. She will be here when you wake up." Karen went to the girls' room that Madison and Lily shared. She sat in the rocking chair and began to rock Madison to sleep.
-Peyton -
"Is she asleep?" Peyton said putting the phone on speaker.
"Yeah she was pretty cranky after lunch." Karen said through the speaker.
"Well hopefully she will be in a better mood for her party." At least I hope she will be. If there was one things she got from me it was her attitude, well maybe she got that from her aunt Brooke. Peyton thought to herself.
"She wanted cake. I told her no and then we went down for a nap. She will be so happy when she can finally dig into that." Karen chuckled.
"She has always love birthdays. Even when they aren't hers." Peyton replied.
"Have a good rest of the day at work and we will see you when you get home. Bye Peyton." Peyton quickly said goodbye and Karen hung up the phone.
Peyton sighed. It was her little girl's birthday today. Madison was 3 years old today. It made Peyton's heart ache. 3 years that Lucas had missed out on. She couldn't bring herself to interrupt his new life. He had already moved to New York when Peyton had found out she was pregnant. Karen wanted her to tell Luke but she knew that Peyton had her reasons and she just wanted to be there to support her. Peyton looked at the picture of her daughter on her desk. "Oh how you look like your daddy." Peyton smiled to herself.
-Karen's House, Later that night-
"Would you please stop throwing the balloons around?" Peyton scolded Nathan and Brooke.
"Calm down P. Sawyer." Brooke scolded back. "We are just messing around."
"I know but she is turning 3 and she will probably remember this birthday and I just want it to be perfect." Peyton frowned.
"It is going to go great Sawyer. promise." Nate replied. "Jamie doesn't remember his 3rd birthday, do you little man?" Nathan looked to his son.
Jamie was unsure of what to say. He was 7 and he could barely remember where he left his shoes half the time. "Nope, sure don't aunt Peyton."
"See." Brooke and Nathan said in unison.
"Alright." Peyton said.
Everyone had finally shown up and they were all starting to eat. Peyton got Madison a plate and sat her at the head of the table so everyone could see her and Lily and Jamie sat on each side of her.
"Happy birthday Madison." Lily said.
"Happy birthday!" Jamie said.
Everyone ate and talked and enjoyed each other company.
-Lucas and Lindsey-
"Did you tell your mom we were coming tonight?" Lindsey asked resting her head on Luke's shoulder.
"No. I wanted to surprise her and Lily." Lucas said patting his wife's leg.
"Well what if they are out, then what are we going to do?" Lindsey questioned.
"We will just wait till she gets home. I'm sure she should be home. It's a Friday night and Lily has an early morning dance practice. Mom wouldn't stay out late." Luke reassured her.
"If you say so." Lindsey said.
They drove in silence for awhile before arriving at Karen's house. The street was lined with cars.
"Well it looks like she is home." Lindsey stated.
"Looks like someone is having a party." Luke found a spot to park and got their bags out of the back of the car.
"I hope we aren't interrupting something important." Lindsey said grabbing her purse out of the car and follow Luke to the door. "Should we knock?"
"I guess so." Luke knocked on the door.
A petite brunette opened the door. "Luke?" Brooke exclaimed.
"Hi. B. Davis." Luke smiled.
"Long time no see." It took Brooke a second to realize what was about to happen.
"Can we come inside, it's a bit chilly?" Lindsey snapped.
"Oh, yeah sure." Brooke let them in the door and went to the kitchen.
"Are we supposed to follow her?" Lindsey asked.
"I don't know." Luke placed their bags against the wall and walked into the kitchen to see everyone around the table and Brooke across the kitchen whispering in a blonde's ear.
"Hi everyone." Luke made his presence known.
"Oh." Karen looked startled. "My baby boy!" She ran over and embraced him in a hug. "I missed you."
"I missed you too mom." Luke returned the hug.
"Hi Lindsey." Karen acknowledged the taller woman standing next to her son.
"Hey big bro." Nathan came over and hugged his brother.
"Hi." Luke returned the hug and Nathan gave Lindsey a hug and said hello.
Everyone was quietly welcoming Luke. "So what's up with the party?" Luke asked.
"It's my birthday." A little girl yelled from across the table.
Luke was startled by the voice. It sounded a lot like Peyton. Luke turned and made eye contact with the little girl, her piercing blue eyes starring at him. "And who are you?"
"I'm Madison." Madison stated.
"Well happy birthday." Luke replied.
"Mommy can we have cake now?" The curly haired blonde looked to Peyton.
Peyton leaned down and whispered in the little girls ear. "Okay we can have cake but you have to be good remember, or no presents, got it?"
"Got it mommy." The little girl replied.
"Karen is the cake in the fridge?" Peyton looked up.
"Yeah, would you like me to grab it?" Karen asked.
"Please." Peyton smiled.
Lindsey looked at Luke. "I didn't know Peyton had a kid." She whispered.
"Me neither." Luke stated. There were a million questions running through his mind.
"Can we sing happy birthday to Madison now?" Lily asked.
"Sure you can." Peyton replied as Karen placed the cake in from of Madison. "You want to start it Lily."
"Sure. Happy birthday to you." Lily sang loudly and everyone joined in.
Happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Madison, happy birthday to you.
Everyone clapped and said happy birthday. Madison blew out her candles with the help of Peyton. Peyton cut the cake and handed pieces out and everyone enjoyed their cake and talked. A little while later Lily and Madison were fast asleep on the floor and Jamie came into the kitchen to get Peyton.
"Lily and Madison fell asleep." Jamie stated.
"They were probably exhausted." Karen stated.
"I'll go get them and put them in bed." Peyton said gathering her phone.
"No, stay enjoy your friends I'll put the girls to bed." Karen said. "Luke, will you help me with your sister?" Karen questioned.
"Sure." Luke followed his mom to the living room.
"Oh my sweet girls." Karen smiled at the two curled up. She picked Madison up. "Grab your sister, she is too big for me to carry anymore."
Luke nodded and picked up Lily and once again followed behind Karen. When Luke walked into the room her saw the room was now pink with flowers on the wall. Above Lily's bed was her name and than across the room was a crib with Madison's name above it.
"Does Madison stay here a lot?" Luke questioned placing his sister in her bed.
"What?" Karen said confused placing Madison in her crib. "Oh, no. Madison and Lily share this room."
"Oh." Luke said confused. He walked over to stand next to his mother looking over the crib.
Karen could tell her son was confused. "After Peyton had Madison she was having a hard time so Andy thought it would be a good idea for Peyton to move in."
"Doesn't Madison have a father that should be helping out?" Luke asked.
Karen smiled at her son and than back at the little girl sleeping. "She does but he is busy right now and Andy and I love having them here, so does Lily." Karen patted her son's shoulder and left the room.
Luke stared down at the sleeping child. She looked just like Peyton. Who would abandon such a beautiful little girl? Who would abandon Peyton? These were only a few of the thoughts going through Lucas' mind.
*I hope you like it. Please review. I want to continue this but I'm not sure I will. I don't want to get to busy that I can't work on my other story because I am having a lot of fun writing it but I love this one so I hope you do so I can keep writing it.
