Meg View!
"Did you ever ask what I wanted?" Meg yelled at Hercules with her voice breaking throughout the question.
Meg's vision was blurry with hot tears. Her head hurt from all the emotions she felt. Regret, fear, sadness, and love flickered across Meg's heart. She kept brushing off Wonderboy who kept blabbering.
"Leave me alone! Look what you've done!" Meg shouted at Herc while looking over Hades.
Hercules movements stilled and he stopped his mouth with a sharp click of the jaw. Meg couldn't hear his breathing but after a moment she heard his footsteps disappear behind her into the distance.
She looked at Hades through tears. He looked pale, his hair wasn't on fire at all. Thick, black blood seeped from the sword in his shoulder. The gash down his chest was charred closed but it looked painful.
What should she do? Should she try to move Hades or treat his wounds?
She couldn't see any movement of his chest. She moved her hand to his throat and tried to feel for a pulse. She waited for about a minute and after about 20 seconds she felt a weak beat. Her own heart quickened at the small feeling of hope she felt. We've got to get him out of hear and into someplace better.
"Pain! Panic! Get down here!" Meg yelled at the top of her lungs into the stands. It was a very good Hades impression if anything.
The snoring in the stands stopped and the two idiots were shocked to hear Meg's voice calling them. They rather clumsily got over the rows of steps in the stands and were standing before her within a minute.
"Yes Ma'am!" Both demon imps saluted Meg as they stood by her and Hades.
Meg took a deep shaky breath and tried to focus her breathing in a good pattern. She used her dress to whip her eyes. She had to be strong. With hope to save Hades, she had to be the one taking charge.
"I need you guys to transform in a strong animal of some sort. Can you do an ox or large horse?"
"Yes we can." The imps looked at each other and tried their best to follow their orders. They ended up a mess of horns and hooves but they could carry Hades well enough.
"Lower your front and I'm going to lift Hades on top of you and we are going to go to his bedroom. It the only place comfortable enough and a bed big enough."
The front of the discolored horse nodded and lowered their head. Their hooves buckled beneath them to lower the front of their animal body.
Meg took a deep breath and wrapped her arms around Hades torso. She made sure to keep his impaled side from moving too much. She got on her feet and used all her strength to lift a very heavy Hades. Too many martinis and worms. She could just barely carry him for a couple seconds to get him onto the Pain and Panic mixed steed. She managed to get him on to the animal well enough. She pushed his legs and arms onto their back. She kept the injured shoulder still and close to his side.
"Okay rise up guys. We've got to get to his bedroom quickly."
The mixed ox rose up and Meg balanced Hades on their back with her arms. They slowly strode to Hades' room. Meg scolded Pain and Panic whenever they started to get sloppy or made their walk bumpier then needed.
Eventually they arrived at Hades' chambers and Meg led them over to his bed. The sheets were messy, the pillows thrown around the bed, and scrolls littered the room. It was a much different scene then the last time she was here. She moved the the blankets back and put a couple pillows back by the headboard.
"Guys lower only to the height of the bed."
They did as she said and she slid Hades onto the bed easily enough but he was still rather heavy. She tucked a thin pillow under his head.
The horse next to the bed transformed back into Pain and Panic and both looked up at Meg like beaten puppies.
Pain started. "Would you like anything else Meg?"
"Bring me some bandages and water. I need to treat his wounds." Meg smoothed the lines on Hades' cheeks. He was cold but not as cold as stone. He also wasn't as hot as a fire god needed to be.
Panic finished, "Yes Sir, I-I Me-e-an Ma-a'-am."
Both Imps rushed out of the room to find bandages and water. It might have helped if they knew where to get some. The underworld doesn't treat wounds in any sense. Grave injuries were treated with graves most commonly.
Meg looked back at Hades and surveyed Hades body. His robe was torn and burned. Had to get that off first. Meg grabbed a knife on Hades' side table and started to cut his robe into pieces. The pieces were easy to pull off his body. She blushed as she stripped him of the scraps of charred cloth. His muscles looked strained and spent. They either were relaxed or stuck in a tightened state of stress.
She covered his lower body with a sheet from the bed. She would clean his wounds and the dirt from his skin when the Imps came back.
She checked his neck again for a pulse and was encouraged to find the same slow pulse, however, slightly faster.
She cupped her hand over his cheek and rested her forehead on his chest.
"I'm so sorry this happened. It's all my fault. If only I was faster, smarter, stronger. This wouldn't have happened. Please come back to me. I love you." Meg felt her eyes get wet again and she sobbed quietly on to his chest.
-Else Where In the Underworld-
The fates starred up at a floating image of Meg leaning over Hades' body. The eye glowed with the consequence of the past, the hope of the present, and the fate of the future.
One fate held up a string of dark blue thread that was dimly glowing black.
Another fate covered her hand and lowered her arm with the thread back to the table.
"Not yet. Give them more time. It isn't over until the last heart beat."
The last fate interjected, "The dawn waits for no man. The prophecy predicted the girl's love and the battle, not survival or acceptance. You cannot stop this."
The fate focusing most intensely on the glowing eye said back to her, "You can also not rush this."
The fates all lowered their heads and waited for the clock to toll on their dear Hades of the Underworld. It is up to Megara now.
