Morals
"Danny, you should steer clear of those guys." Sam said to her friend as the trio walked on the sidewalk of Amity Park. It was just after the final school bell in Casper High and the students were free for the weekend. Tucker and Sam were walking to Danny's house to do the usual, play video games and maybe kick some ghost butt.
"What guys?" Danny asked, looking around the streets.
"Those guys." Sam pointed to the familiar 1967 Chevy Impala driving down the street.
"Weird car. I don't like it." Danny chuckled. "You think two boneheads in a strange car can be dangerous?"
"She's right Danny." Tucker replied, watching the car zoom past. "They seem like bad news."
"Look, just because new people came to town doesn't automatically mean they're here for the ghost boy. Okay? Don't freak out." Danny smirked, content.
The trio arrived at Danny's house, where in the driveway was that '67 Impala. Inside the house were the men inside the car from earlier. Jack and Maddie were sitting and talking with the two men while Jaz seemed love-struck. Danny opened the door and Jack immediately stood up in his eagerness and introduced the boys.
"Danny!" Jack exclaimed, grabbing his son by his shoulders in a friendly manner. "This is Sam and Dean Winchester! They're here for the ghost boy!"
"Is now a good time to freak out?" Sam asked her friend.
Dean stood up "hello there buddy."
"Uh… Hi." Danny stuttered.
Maddie laughed "Danny's never been speechless before."
"Neither has Jaz." Jack joked, looking at his daughter fawn over Sam Winchester.
"Tell me how college was. Was it fun?" Jaz sighed.
"Uh, yeah. I mean, I originally wanted to be a lawyer, so it was a lot of work." Sammy explained.
"Did it pay off in the end?" Jaz smiled.
"Uh… No." Sammy rubbed the back of his neck.
"Obviously not. I mean, they're here fighting a ghost." Danny chuckled. His parents immediately shot him a glare. "Not that ghost hunting is not… a good… profession… Help me out here guys."
"No I think you can handle this one." Tucker smirked.
"Thanks guys." Danny sighed.
"No, he's sort of right. If I were a lawyer, I wouldn't be here." Sammy explained.
"Still. I think Danny and his friends should go up to his room." Jaz told them.
"Yeah, before you put another foot in your mouth." Sam agreed.
"Wait." Dean stood up. "I'll accompany you. I'd like to ask you a few questions."
"Um… Okay." Danny nodded.
While entering Danny's room, Dean was last inside. He shut the door behind him.
Danny sat on his bed, Sam and Tucker sat on individual chairs.
Dean crossed his arms. "Now. How do you do it?"
"I don't understand." Danny looked confused.
"Come on. It doesn't take a genius. Danny Fenton. Danny Phantom. You're practically announcing it to the world." Dean explained.
"Wait… You know?!" Danny exclaimed.
"Of course I know. Me and my brother knew as soon as we found out your name. We came here to track you down and…" Dean sighed.
"And what?" Sam asked.
"And we found out you were just 14." Dean told Danny.
Danny raised a brow. "What? Why is that make a difference?"
"Because if you were of voting age, kid. You'd be dead. Because we would kill you." Dean flat out said.
"You're not killing Danny!" Sam stepped in front of the teenager.
"Of course I'm not! That'd be immoral." Dean agreed.
"A ghost hunter with morals." Tucker chuckled.
"My parents are ghost hunters with morals." Danny pitched in.
"Yeah but we're successful. No offense. But see, your parents are-" Dean began.
"Moronic?" Danny asked.
"No."
"Bumbling idiots?" Tucker asked.
"No."
"Buffoons?" Sam asked.
"No."
"Giant-" Tucker began but was interrupted.
"Guys, I think he gets it." Danny crossed his arms.
"Functional. They're a family. You, your sister. Your folks are still in love. A family that together has too much to lose. In my case, it's just me and my brother. Your mom seems to actually be the ass-kicker in the family. But her love for Jack, Jack's inventions… You know, he showed my brother and I a toaster that makes toast in the shape of his body. I mean, I thought I was egotistical. Point is, until you've lost someone, you have no drive-no need for revenge. They're like… The ghostbusters. Except less awesome… They're like the Ghostfacers." Dean explained.
"Ghostfacers?" Tucker replied.
"Don't ask. See, your folks will always be okay. But they'll never be great." Dean said.
"How do you know?" Danny seemed a little insulted at this comment.
"Well for starters, they didn't know their own son is a ghost." Dean answered. "Which brings me back to that point. What are you?"
"I'm a… Halfa? Ever heard of it?" Danny asked.
"Yeah, yeah I have. I thought there was only one." Dean scratched his head.
"Yeah. Me." Danny told him.
"Well my brother and I hunted one down not too long ago back in Wisconsin. But you… You seem different don't you? You seem to… Be good." Dean sighed "Which makes my job that much harder."
"What do you mean?" Sam sat beside Danny.
"I'm not going to kill you. But you're still a monster. But you're a good monster and in my line of work, those don't exist." Dean shook his head. "I don't know what to do."
"Well… People think ghosts don't exist. You know better…" Danny thought for a moment and spoke "Mr. Winchester… You're right. My family is completely functional. We get along. We're close. And that's why my parents are crap ghost hunters. But that's also why I'm not evil. That's why I'm fighting the ghosts who enter our world. Because I want to protect my family and friends. And maybe that's the exact reason my parents wanted to become ghost hunters in the first place. There's a difference between me and them though, I have ghost powers. I can fit in with the ghosts and humans. Which make me on the ghosts level. My mom and my dad, even you and your brother have to work harder to fight them. It's easier for me. And if I don't protect the people I love. Then who will? I was given powers to help. And that's why you don't have to worry about me turning evil or whatever. As long as I have my family and friends, I'll always have something to fight for."
Dean laid a hand on Dannys shoulder "Kid, you're alright."
"Thanks. So you wont kill me now, right?" Danny assured.
"No." Dean smirked.
"Then this is a good time to tell you that I don't like your car." Danny chuckled.
Dean's smirk faded "Why not?"
Tucker was texting on his PDA "Oh, he thinks it's weird."
"And Tucker throws me under the bus." Danny glared at Tucker.
"What?" Tucker looked up from his gadget.
"Watch it, kid. That's my baby you're talking about." Dean warned.
"If that's a baby, the parents must be hideous." Danny joked, then immediately turned intangible and disappeared under his bed.
Dean walked down the stairs. "Sammy, let's get the hell outa dodge."
"Why?" Sammy asked, standing from the couch. "We just got here."
Danny walked in from the kitchen area. "Yeah, you just got here."
"Danny… Jack, Maddie, you have lovely children but unfortunately my brother and I have a thing." Dean glared at Sam.
"What thing?" He asked.
"That thing. In that place." Dean grumbled.
"Oh. That thing. In that place." Sam repeated.
"What thing? What place?" Jaz asked, trying to follow Sam.
"Yeah you were telling me about that ghost… In Wisconsin. You had to take care of." Danny helped.
"Right." Dean gestured to Danny.
"But we just came back from Wis-" Dean stepped on Sam's foot.
"Well, we have to leave. But we only wanted to stop by to hear about the Famous Fentons… Keep doing what you're doing. And keep raising these kids right." Dean looked at Danny.
"Will you come back?" Danny asked.
"Depends. Will you ever stop not liking my car?" Dean smirked.
"Will it stop being ugly?" Danny sassed.
"Will you two stop?" Sam sighed.
"Bye Sam!" Jaz waved to the youngest Winchester.
"Yeah, bye." Sam rolled his eyes.
"Thanks for the advice." Jack smiled.
After their goodbyes, the Winchesters entered the Impala and began to head off once more.
"Hey Dean, where did Danny get the 'ghost thing in Wisconsin' from?" Sam looked at his brother.
"What? Oh, I told him about the halfa job we just finished. The one who told us to go to the Fentons in the first place." Dean remembered.
"Oh, yeah the guy who told us Danny was the ghost-boy and we should kill him." Sam replied.
"What was his name? Vladimir?" Dean asked.
"Something like that… Now there was a manipulative SOB if I ever met one. "No spare me, take Daniel Phantom instead. He's a ghost and he is evil! I'm good! Trust me!" Right. Like you say, there's no such thing as a good monster." Sam huffed.
"You'd be surprised, Sammy." Dean smiled, and turned on the radio, proceeding to drive away from Amity Park.
"Wonder what ghost they're hunting in Wisconsin… Hey I should phone Vladdy! Who knows, maybe those boys and him would become friends! Then we could see them more often!" Jack began to phone his friend.
"Do you really think so?" Jaz asked, excited over the news.
"I wouldn't get my hopes up if I were you." Danny mumbled.
Jack hung up the phone. "Huh… Nobody's home."
