Watching Over U
Hey Everyone! It's been a while, hasn't it?
Before I proceed with the story, I'd like to thank you to all of my readers. Thank you very much for being so patient with me. I won't bore you with my excuses, so I'll just say this; Life happened and it can be a b*tc*.
So without further ado, here is the story.
Watching Over U
Naruto's POV:
Next day, I woke up to the feeling of something amiss. Sitting up, I tried to locate oddities, to hear any sound of breathing or shuffling of cloths, but none was there. That's when I realized that I woke up to an empty apartment and I sighed in disappointment.
I looked out of my room's window to stare at the morning sky with only one thought going through my head.
'So, he left . . .'
Taking a deep breath, I started out my day; after all, there's no use crying over spilled milk. 'I shouldn't have expected that he would stay.'
Finishing up with my morning routine, I came to a realization that I wasn't able to shake off the disappointment from before. Deciding on to take a bath instead of the quick shower I usually take, I lower myself until the water is up to my neck. I closed my eyes to meditate and try to sort out all of my thoughts.
After a while, when the water lost its warmth, I dried myself and wrapped a towel around my waist and exited the bathroom shaking the water out of my hair. I hadn't realized I had my eyes closed until I bumped into my wall.
'Isn't that stupid wall was supposed to be a little bit further?'
Completely disregarding the odd closeness of my wall I continued on towards my room rubbing the excess water of my head with a towel . . . . .
. . . . . only to stop and turn around to come face to face with a wide black abyss of a dark pool, with a little bit of redness on the pale features, 'Huh! Is he blushing?' standing stunned.
'I'm pretty sure I am mirroring his expression on my face with a little bit of confusion in the mix.'
"But . . . I thought you left!"
"I did." He admitted, a small nod accompanying the declaration.
" . . . . What brought you back?" I had to ask, my face and voice devoid of any emotion.
He didn't answer immediately; instead, he turned around and made his way to my kitchen. Only then did I notice that he has been holding something in his hands, but before I made my query known he answered. . . .
"I returned. With groceries. It's enough to feed two people for a month. . . ." He paused, and it was a pause as I could feel that he has more to say. I saw him turn around, now holding what looks like a bunch of paper. . . ". . . . And with documents stating my probation period & granting me permission to reinstate as Konoha Shinobi."
". . . . ."
". . . . ."
I was troubled; I did not want to believe him. And I guess it was showing because the next moment he got hold of my hands and pressed those papers in it, silently asking me to read them. And I did just that.
After about half an hour, after checking & rechecking, again and again, I came to a conclusion that I might have gained back my friend but the price he had to pay for it wasn't anything to scoff off either. Then something strikes me odd and I jumped,
"For how long have you been doing this?" He gave me a humored chuckle, the bastard.
"Why is it that I can never hide anything from you, huh?"
". . . . ." He took a deep breath & replied, "for last three months. . . . . I . . . The council is consists of old people, very old people. So, even though I told the Hokage, she has to tell me it won't be possible; she won't be able to convince those old coots about it without the secret coming out & destroying everyone around me."
". . . . So, that's why she . . . . ."
"Hai! And I have a feeling that he won't object. . . . So, will you?"
"Aa. Though I'll wait until he arrives or sent us any message."
"I wonder how she would inform him of his new mission."
"Probably through her ANBU services or her slug. . . . Wait! I've got an Idea."
"Oh no. . . . ."
Tick. "Shut up, Sasuke. Let's eat then we'll go to meet her."
With an eye roll, Sasuke turned around and went into the kitchen to prepare us some food. After tiding up my living room table I went towards my bedroom, sealing up all the papers in a scroll for safekeeping, after all, they are now my responsibility too.
'Well, things are gonna change around here, for better or for worse only time would tell.'
Hey everybody!
Another chapter is done. And I have (hopefully its final) decided that this story is gonna be a little bit longer than originally planned. I had originally planned it to be a one-shot, but then I felt like I couldn't just stop it here; that I need to show how Naruto is coping after finally giving up the chase. So then I ended up adding the second chapter. And the while I was finalizing my second chapter to finally upload it I realized that it would need another chapter. And funnily while I was halfway through with this chapter I realized that this story would need at least two more chapters to finally meet its end.
So, I hope you enjoyed the story and please review me, please. I really like them. :)
Sayonara!
