*Knock knock knock-knock--*
Elsa stopped after remembering Anna's invitation to come in whenever. It felt like an invasion of privacy to her, but if it pleased Anna...so be it.
Anna smiled excitedly as her door opened. Her feet were curled under the vanity chair, and her hands were balled up against her chest as she waited eagerly.
The door shut quietly and Elsa chuckled at her younger sister's visible giddiness. 'Excited much?'
'Yeah! Hurry up slowpoke.' Anna smirked at the offended look that crossed her older sister's face.
'wow her make-up looks amazing.' The princess thought as she looked over the approaching queen's face. She was lucky if she could put on mascara without poking herself in the eye.
Anna shivered at the memory of her thirteen year old self trying to put on the mascara she had received for her birthday.
"Wow what the heck is this goop?" She had asked Gerda while she sat at her vanity and pulled out the brush.
Gerda chuckled before approaching the young princess and crouched to explain. "That is called mascara, you put it on your eyelashes to make them look bigger and longer." Anna grimaced at the thought of what looked like tar near her eyes.
Then she suddenly remembered that cute stable boy she had a crush on and blushed.
He was 'unnghhh cute.'
A level of 'cute' that only a moan of absolute adoration could describe.
"Do boys really find that more attractive?" She asked in disbelief, only to disguise her true curiosity about the subject.
"Apparently some do, but it's never good to wear too much make-up. You don't want to give them the wrong impression Your Highness." Gerda chuckled again and smiled at the curious girls face.
'wrong impression? Of what?' Anna thought to herself before being interrupted.
"You are far too beautiful for make-up princess, but that is my opinion. You may do whatever you'd like with it." The motherly servant said softly, standing back up with the quiet but not unheard popping of joints. "It's nearly your bedtime and it's a bath night, I'll go get your water ready."
"Thanks Gerda." Anna said absentmindedly, chewing her lip in thought. Her gaze went from the bottle to the boyish face in the mirror and back down again.
'It can't be that hard. It's just brushing eyelashes.'
Her hand shook a bit as she lifted the brush to her eye. "Wait I can't see." She muttered before scooting he chair closer to the mirror. That was the mistake...She had either scooted herself into the goop covered brush, or leaned into it.
Her hand was mistakenly stationary as she moved, and she screeched at the sudden pain.
"OUCH!" The brush was promptly shoved back inside the bottle as she held her eye shut. It watered and burned aggressively, and she gasped in terror at the idea of having to wear an eye patch for the rest of her life. 'I don't want to loose my eye!'
She fell to the floor dramatically as she covered the flooding eye. "Gerda! . . .Mama?!. . .someone?" Anna cried out as she used her feet to push herself across the hardwood floor. "It burns!"
Finally after what seemed like ages Gerda and her mother rushed into the room. Gerda sighed at the sight.
"Anna what is wrong?" Her mother asked as she looked down at her daughter.
"I don't want to loose my eye." Anna sniffled as she sat up, her hand still over her injured eye.
"I apologize, what are you talking about?" The Queen had asked gently with a look of confusion.
"I poked myself in the eye... with the mascara brush,"Anna whined as she carefully stood up. "Mama it hurts!" She responded as her mother carefully tried to coax the self-made bandage away.
"Well of course it does, come on. We'll wash your eye out in the bathroom."

"Anna?" Her sister's voice pulled her out of the embarrassing memory.
"Yeah? Sorry I just--your make-up looks amazing." Anna looked up at her sister's concerned expression in the mirror and gave a reassuring smile.
Elsa hadn't been convinced though.
"Thank you, I can help you sometime if you'd like? I'll even make sure I don't poke you in the eye."
A familiar teasing smirk appeared in the mirror, to which Anna groaned as she covered her rapidly heating face.
'Mama or Gerda probably told her. Why did they always tell her the embarrassing stories?'
"Ugh that was so embarrassing, all because I thought I'd impress--" She stopped and blushed harder at the even more embarrassing reason behind the incident. 'She probably doesn't need to know about your infatuation with Jakob.'
"What was that Anna? Did you have a crush? I wouldn't mind hearing about it...I mean I'd like to." Elsa smiled awkwardly as she began to run her long fingers through her sister's copper hair, damp from washing it earlier.
'That was embarrassing, but she should know. After all, you wanted to tell her what happened every single day. Now you have the ability.'
Anna shivered at the pleasant sensation, one she hadn't felt in a long time, one she had greatly missed.
"There was this stable boy, his name was Jakob." She paused, biting her smile as she remembered how cute she thought he had been.
'He was cute, stop trying to deny it'
"He was REALLY cute Els, like 'unghhhhh' cute okay?" Elsa suddenly stopped with the brushing as she heard that ridiculous description.
'unghhh cute? What does that even mean?'
"Anna what was that adjective you just used?" She asked with a greatly amused smirk before continuing to brush the soft copper locks.
"Unghhhh cute...it means like, really really really hot." Anna blushed at her definition and instantly laughed at her sister's look of shock. "Yeah. Unghhh... that's basically all I thought when I saw him." She continued, waiting for her sister to loose it.
'Don't laugh, it's not that funny.' Elsa tried to contain her amusement, failing immensely as she let out a loud, "HA!" followed by unqueenly laughter.
Anna began to giggle harder at her sister's opinion of the childhood description. 'Unghhh cute' was still a thing, but Kristoff greatly exceeded that.
"Yeah okay, okay what kind of cute is Kristoff then?" Anna blushed harder at the barely anticipated question. She took a moment to think of a worthy sounding description. Elsa had quickly finished braiding her sister's hair after she had mostly regained her queenly composure.
"Okay he's like..." Anna began before falling back into her unprepared sister dramatically. Her eyes closed and she placed a hand on her forehead. "UNGHHH...cute." She slowly sat back up and caressed one of her incredibly smooth braids.
Elsa bit her trembling lip before giving a wait-a-sec motion in the mirror. She turned and tried to calm the bubbling laughed about to erupt. 'Yes! Didn't laugh.' She took another deep breath before turning around.
Anna had raised an eyebrow, sending her older sister into another laughing fit. She heard a snort and joined in with the laughter, leaning back against her sister's body as she did so.
'I've missed your goofiness too snow angel'
Elsa thought as she hugged her sister's shoulders, gently placing a kiss on her head. Anna smiled and sighed contently.
"Anna before we get too off track, I wanted to say you don't need make-up. You're beautiful inside and out." The queen rested her cheek on Anna's hair, once again revelling in what was not only reality, but a miracle as well. 'This is actually happening'
'Thank you Els, touché.' Anna said in her mind, wanting to keep quiet as she soaked in the joy of having a sister again.
