Author's Note:

Well, we've reached the end of the road, my friends/readers. The last chapter ended this story (after three long years, or longer in terms of when you read this, but three years of when this was published) and now we've reached the Author's Note.

Alright, so I said that I originally had more ideas in mind for more chapters, but had decided to shorten it down to just Part 8 instead of there being a Part 9 & 10. The reason why is because I've decided to write my own story of the entire anime of Gankutsuou.

After rewatching the show, I realized a lot more problems I didn't realize before. I still love the anime and think it's the closest definite adaptation we have, but I really want to give it a go in seeing how I could improve on it. Because I think we can all agree that there are a ton of problems.

Aside from the obvious of Albert being a weak character, lots of subplots that go nowhere, a dissatisfying ending, underdeveloped characters and villains, and weak world-building; there's also a backstory to all of this that's very confusing to me. In the novel, the backstory is easy to make out as it comes off of a historical event and is explained very well.

But the anime has a backstory that I'm still confused about.

We heard of a Prince who was assassinated, which caused a war with aliens. However, we learn that presidency is a thing, so how does a Prince fit into this? And if there is a Prince, shouldn't there be a King? And who was involved in the assassination of the Prince? Was Noirter Villefort against the assassination or was he part of it?

And the design of the world is confusing as well. I get that royalty still exists and that aristocrats are still in power, but why does a futuristic future still use horses, lanterns, and other 19th/20th-century stuff in the years of the 3050s?

Not to mention that if they are going to set it in space, might as well go full out and just take the location off of Earth. Why have Earth when you could have a planet called France and a capital city called Paris?

And let's be honest, the dialogue and writing isn't that great (though mine isn't either).

I wish to explore and answer certain things that the anime never touched upon, with the help from the manga books as well.

So I've decided to start writing my own fanfiction story of the anime. Each chapter will be called an Episode, following a similar formula that the anime did.

I don't know when I will be starting this, but I'm hoping during the summer of 2018.

Hope you enjoyed my Conclusion story and that it at least satisfied you. If not, hopefully my new Gankutsuou story will do just that. Please leave a review in the review section for me. I want to hear your thoughts.
