Italy came running through the front door yelling "DOITSU, DOITSU, DOITSU, DOI-". Italy was cut-off by running into Germany's chest "OOF" grunted Germany. "Hello Germany~!" hummed Italy while giving him a big hug. "Hallo Italy" replied the German. He leaned down and kissed the Italian on both cheeks in greeting. "Is there somezhing you vanted? Or did you just come down to avoid your vork?" asked Germany in a questioning tone. (Italy basically lived with Germany, but some work had to be done in his own country) "Well, Romano got mad at something, I don't know what though but anyway but he broke our dining room table, you know the one Spain gave to us? Well Romano wants the same one because Spain gave it to him and I know Spain gave you one as well but you never use it… so do you mind letting us have it?" Asked Italy "VE~ ITS TOTALLY OK IF YOU DON'T WANT TO!" he exclaimed after. Germany put a hand on Italy's shoulder, "Sure you can, I don't need it. It's in the attic" replied the German comfortingly. "Ve~ Grazi Doitsu!" said Italy as he sashayed cross the room to the main stairs. Italy went up to the top floor and opened the side door that lead to the attic. Germany's house was huge, so was his attic. "It has to be somewhere around here." Whispered Italy to himself. Italy saw a long, white sheet covering a bunch of objects that looked like they were on a table so Italy pulled the sheet off. It was a lot lighter than he expected, so it went flying as he pulled it over his shoulder. Italy's eyes shrank in terror as he saw a familiar push broom, black hat, and cape.
Down stairs Germany face palmed his face really hard. How stupid was he?!
'Italy can't handle zat table all by himself, he could barely carry our big hamper vhen its full of clozs!'
Germany went up to the attic and saw Italy staring at his old push broom, hat, and cape. He looked at Italy confused, Italy looked like he was about to cry.
Italy's mind was spinning, it all made sense now. Germany's looks and personality explained everything. Germany was Holy Roman Empire. All this time Italy thought his long lost lover was dead, but he is alive. But why did he not tell Italy? Why didn't he come back after the war? What happened? Did Germany not recognize him? Did he just not care? All of these questions filled his mind trying to find answers. Italy jumped when a warm hand grabbed his shoulders. Italy turned quickly to see Germany's face looking at him with concern. "Are you ok Italy?" asked the German. Italy turned to see his face but the German's gaze turned to the items on the table. "You too huh? Vhy do people look like they've seen a ghost vhen zey see zese items?" asked the German. 'He doesn't remember?!' thought Italy "Ve? What do you mean?" asked Italy. "Vhen I vas young I saw zies cloths and I zought zey vould look cool on me, so I pulled my hair back and put the hat and cape on. Prussia came in and saw me in zem and he looked like he saw a ghost. And you just had za same expression." Explained Germany. Italy was relieved that it wasn't that Germany didn't care about him anymore, but was still sad that he couldn't remember him. "So, vhat's so big about zese clozs and push broom anyvay?" asked Germany while tilting his head and putting a hand on his hip. "T-they… used to belong to an old friend of mine…VE! That's not important now! We got to get this table to my house!" said Italy. Germany was confused, but Italy seemed happy right now and that's all that he cared about. So he pushed the incident aside and helped his friend look for the table. Italy was acting like he normally does, being cheerful, but internally he was saddened by the fact that his love had forgotten him.
