A/N: A super short USUK oneshot (sort of) - the moment in HetaOni where England helps America look for his glasses.

"Hey, England! Don't just stand there," I called out to the older nation, my eyes darting around the floor as I noticed his odd stillness. "Help me look for my glasses!"

Hesitant, but anxious for an answer, I placed a trembling hand upon the Brit's shoulder. I leaned in close, peering into his face with panicked eyes. My free hand slowly crept up in front of him. They were mere inches away.

"How many fingers... am I holding up?"

England did nothing but avoid my gaze. He stared off to the side, as if he was looking right past me, and onto complete nothingness. His brows furrowed, showing what seemed to be a pained expression.

"You can answer, can't you?" I asked, my voice shaking. "If you... can see."

I could feel my heart pounding so hard, it felt like nothing could get rid of my sinking feeling anymore. Carefully backing away, I stared at him with quivering lips.

'Please... Please, don't apologize! I don't want to go through that again-!'

"W-Well..." the Brit finally replied, his head shamefully titled downwards. I couldn't take it. He looked so hurt, so guilty, like he'd just been beaten. Like everything had been his fault.

"...It can't...be..."

He cautiously lifted his head. As he did, I saw something that completely crushed my heart. Welling up in his dull eyes, small bubbles of water began to form.

"I'm sorry, America," he whispered in a hushed tone, the waterworks streaming down onto his cheeks. "I can... no longer see..."

NO!

I lunged forward and gripped onto his uniform, my fingernails digging into his clothes. I came up right to his face, repeatedly shaking my head; I refused to accept this. This can't be happening. Unable to control my emotions anymore, the tears spilled out of my eyes, continuously flowing as the Brit remained completely still. This isn't real.

"When..." I choked out, cupping England's face as I squinted. "...When are you going to tell me that this is just a joke!?"
