RWBY belongs to Rooster teeth
Storm clouds were gathering over Beacon. A feeling of melancholy had set over all of Vale. People moved sluggishly and almost without purpose. Everyone felt a hole in their chest, one that consumed almost all happiness.
The RWBY dorm was no exception to this feeling of sadness. The members were strewn about the room, everyone feeling sad for no apparent reason. An eerie silence hung in the air and life seemed colorless.
"Hey…Blake…" Yang spoke, breaking the silence.
"Mm" she responded.
"Something feels…wrong." Her voice cracked. "I'm sad but I don't know why."
"The world is broken." Blake responded.
"The heavens are crying." Weiss spoke.
Rain had begun falling outside. It wasn't a light rainfall, nor was it a heavy rainfall. It was just moderate rain.
"I hate this." Yang spoke out again. "Why does it have to be like this?" Tears began streaming down her face.
"Yang…" Blake said. Tears had also begun to form in her eyes, threatening to break free.
"It just is this way. I don't know why." Weiss responded, tears also streaming down her face.
Suddenly the door to their room burst open. A small girl in red stood in the door frame. A bright smile shone across her face. Her presence made the room slightly less sad, but sad nonetheless.
"What are you all doing?" Ruby asked innocently. "You shouldn't be lying around. We've got work to do."
"Ruby…We're just not feeling it today." Yang choked out.
"Not 'feeling it'?" Ruby asked. "Come on you lazy bums there's so much more to do. Quit looking so gloomy."
"Something is wrong. The world feels…empty." Blake spoke miserably.
"But it's not. The world is still full of life." Ruby said, moving closer to her sulking teammates. "Do you wanna know how I know it's not empty?"
Weiss looked at her small leader. "How?"
"Because it's raining, and even when it's raining life still grows and moves forward. That's the purpose of rain, to help things grow."
"But…"
"No buts. I don't want to see you all sulking and depressed. It'll rain today but tomorrow the sun will shine and the world will move just like it did before."
"Ruby how can you not be affected by any of this?" Yang nearly shouted. She then noticed the tears flowing down Ruby's face as well. Her smile did not fade; it was just as cheerful as ever.
"I am. I want to move forward even more now. I want to move forward in memory of those who can't and live for those who can't. I want to fight even harder now. To make full use of everything I've been given. It would be a shame to stop now. So instead let's move forward even faster!" Ruby wiped away her tears and moved towards the window. The sun had broken through the clouds in small patches. "I guess I'll give you today off but tomorrow I want to see double the hustle!"
"Aye!"
"Yes ma'am!"
"Understood!"
"Good. The sun will shine tomorrow and everyone will remember today as inspiration to take another step. I'm sure of it."
The sun shines because it must, just as we must continue and strive to be even better. Why don't we strive even harder for the guy who showed us his entire world?
Goodnight, sweet prince, and thank you, for everything.
