Summary: Tao reminds Frankenstein of someone he used to know.

Set after season 2, but spoilers for the season 5 and 6 interlude.

Was working on a different fic, then had a realisation about something else. Like that's new, pfft.

Double Vision

Frankenstein handed Tao one of his spare laptops and Tao beamed, wrapping his arms around it.

"Thanks, Boss! This'll help keep me going until I build my own."

Frankenstein paused, blinking at the title. "Ah, what-?" It had been a while since he had been called something other than Principal, and it wasn't Tao's face Frankenstein was seeing anymore, his black hair replaced with lighter curls, gold eyes looking up at him, innocent but still knowing too much after being forced to be involved with the Union.

"Is that okay?" Tao asked, his eyes darting away before coming back, and the visage was gone. "I can call you something else if you want. Or just-"

Tao's nervous babbling stopped when Frankenstein patted his shoulder.

"Boss is fine."

A relieved smile broke out on Tao's face." Okay, Boss. I'll make sure to look after her really well."

"I'm sure you will." Frankenstein had failed to protect Tesamu before, but this time he would do everything in his power to ensure history wouldn't repeat itself.
