(*...* )thoughts, ("...") speech (~Flashback~)

Please note;

I will be addressing Kero as Cerberus while he is in his true lion form but Sakura and Tomoyo won't. instead they will be addressing him as Kero, like normal. Only Eriol will address Kero by his true name of Cerberus regardless of form, as demonstrated in the TV series and movies. I am also going to address the woman from the first movie by her original name Madoushi and not Su Yung (her English dubbed name).

I will be continuing this pattern on.

Chapter Twenty Eight

Lies?

Previously;

Sakura bit her lip, trying her best not to let any tears fall but as she thought about her mother all she could do was let them flow freely down her cheeks.

"My mother was in her early 20's when she died. All I have are old photographs from when she was in her teens."

The room was silent, everyone was listening to the girl's story of her late mother.

"I love her so very much and…" Sakura said, as she began to sob. "...I miss her terribly."

"I didn't understand why she was gone when I was younger. All I remember from back then was feeling very angry with her for leaving me, leaving my family like she did."

Everyone listened intently at Sakura's admission. They felt shocked and very sad at the new information, none of them thought Sakura ever felt like that towards her mum. Sad? yes. Lonely? Of course but angry?

"I never told anyone how I felt. Not even my best friend knows." Sakura admitted, swallowing a lump in her throat. "You're the first person I've told."

Calista's eyes widened in shock, did she hear that correctly? Did this pesky little girl's mum really die, leaving her baby to grow up never knowing her? Maybe? Or was it a really good back story about this 'Sakura' if that was her real name?told whenever the situation called for it?

Calista studied the girl's actions closely, watching for any signs that said she was lying. As Sakura lifted her head back up to face her captor, Calista saw that her face was stained with tears and a few stray ones still fell down her cheeks. Well that answered that question.

Sakura saw Calista's face had softened or at least it gave the appearance that it had despite the current frostiness it gave. With a small wave of her hand ice began to melt on the frozen statue, allowing Calista to move again.

"You're letting me go?" Calista questioned with hesitation. Unsure if it was a good thing or if the girl had something else in mind.

"I..." Sakura started, thinking about the whole situation. "I am. Yes"

"Sakura?" Tomoyo questioned, confused by her friend's sudden change of heart.

Everyone watched in amazement as the last of the ice melted from Calista's form, allowing her freedom of movement once again. Sakura gave a small smile and looked at the woman who just floated in mid air.

Cautiously Tomoyo made her way over to her friend, wrapping her arms around her.

"What makes you think we can trust her after all that has happened?" Tomoyo whispered in Sakura's ear.

"You lied." Sakura said in a hurt manner, ignoring her friend's concerns.

"What?" Calista questioned, taken aback from the statement.

"Lang. You lied about Lang." Sakura clarified her earlier statement.

"I did no such thi-" Calista started to say but was cut off.

"Calista." Sakura spoke in a soft but firm manner. "It's okay. I understand why you did it. It has to be devastating to lose a child."

Tears flowed down Calista's pale face. A look of defeat shown in her eyes. Hanging her head low Calista waved her arms and all the damage that was caused in the battle began to fix itself.

"I'm sorry for causing you and your friends so much trouble." Calista finally said, in an apologetic manner. "I was just so angry at my brother for so long and blamed him for the death of my son."

Walking forward, Eriol took precedence in front of Calista. "As your brother's reincarnation, I can assure you that he felt guilt stricken from your son's death and he did everything he could to save his life." Taking a breath Eriol continued. "I am truly sorry that his efforts were in vain."

~Flashback~

The whole city was shaking violently. People were running around terrified and confused. Rock formations were bursting out from the ground, growing as tall as skyscrapers. Pipes burst one by one from all over and their water shot skywards. Screams and crying filled the air, as people scrambled to nearby shelters.

"CLOW REED!" The youngerCalistashouted, fear shining in her eyes. "I CAN'T FIND LANG!"

Clow Reed ran up to his worried sister, wrapping his arms around her. "Don't worry. We will find him. I promise."

Raising his arms high above his head, Clow Reed chanted loudly. Repeating the same commands over and over again.

Calista looked on, her teeth clenched. She prayed. Oh how she prayed that Clow Reed was going to bring her son back safely. She didn't care if the world crumbled. All she wanted at that moment was to see and hold her baby in her arms again. Minutes felt like hours, Clow Reed was still shouting out his spell. Calista stood as still as a statue, her hair whipping around her face. The wait was agonising. How much longer was this going to take?

Eventually the shacking began to simmer down and the buildings had finally stopped moving. A loud sigh escaped Calista's lips, as the last of rocks stopped growing. Clow Reed had done it, he finally stopped his creation from any further damage. Looking around the whole area was in chaos. There were giant mountains scattered out of the grounds. The water was still spaying and dranching everything in its vicinity. Vehicles had been turned upside down, their bodies all smashed and their sirens could be heard all around. Casting her gaze upwards, Calista saw that no building was intact anymore, each one had parts missing, ranging from small holes to massive ones.

As the dust settled Calista's eyes went wide. "LANG!" she shouted, taking off down a cracked street.

Clow Reed lowered his arms to his side, relief washing over his face. All of the new Cards had once again been sealed and placed back inside the book.

"Now to fix the damage." Clow mumbled to himself.

Not wanting to risk a second disaster, Clow Reed summoned his Sun Staff. There was no way he was going to attempt anymore magic without a medium to aid him.

Holding the Staff up high, Clow Reed called out to the heavens, asking them to lend their power to help fix the mess. The Staff glowed brightly, temporarily blinding him and any people closeby. It didn't take long for the damage to right itself. Everything began to move independently, like they had a mind of their own. The magician smiled as he watched buildings, cars and roads slowly fix themselves. It wasn't before long the place looked as good as new, if not better.

People started to reamarge out from their hiding spots, Clow Reed could hear their relieved sighs and mumbles as they cautiously inspected their surroundings.

"CLOW REED!" A familour woman's voice yelled. "GET OVER HERE!"

Recognizing the voice as his sister's, Clow Reed rushed over to where she was kneeling. Calista had her arms wrapped tightly around a small limp body, she was sobbing her eyes out.

"You need to do something!" The crying woman begged. "Please save Lang."

Crouching down Clow Reed took Lang from his sister's arms, carefully picking him up . "I'll see what I can do."

Clow carried the lifeless boy in his arms towards a large stone surface. Gently setting the boy down Clow Reed frowned, he didn't know what he could do to bring back his beloved nephew. Clow Reed took out the new Cards and spread them out so he could look at each one.

"You better help him." Calista spat. "It's because of those Cards my son is dead."

"There might be a way to revive him, if he's not." Clow Reed said, biting his lip. "But I can't promise anything."

"You better do something. If not I'll tear this city apart finding one!"
