Chapter Ten

Spending time at her mothers law office was quickly becoming one of Vivian's favorite ways to spend her days. She didn't spend everyday at Olivia Pope and Associates normally she would hand out with her grandmother, but on the days when Maya couldn't watch her Vivi would go to work with her mother. She would file away documents, answer the phone, and get coffee. It wasn't terrible complicated but she was glad to have something interesting to do during the day, and besides she got a chance to see her mother in her natural habit, and that was always a fun enterprise.

"You know there's something different about you." Huck said suddenly as Vivi placed a cold can of coke in front of him.

"What?" Vivi asked her eyes going wide. She knew from Mia that apparently Huck had the ability to read right through an person. And as a result Vivi had been trying to give the older man a wide berth. "Wh...why would you say that?"

"I don't know but there is something different about you Mia."

"Perhaps I've grown up? Weeks away at summer camp I've changed." Vivi forced herself to smile brightly as she shrugged her shoulders.

"Maybe or maybe not."

"Hey what's going on over here I thought you were supposed to be filling the McDermott case." Abby questioned as she came over stopping Vivi from replying to Huck.

"Huck's just been telling me that I've been acting different."

"Well of course she's different." Abby exclaimed wrapping an arm around Vivi's shoulders as she smiled brightly, "Six weeks away from the nest and she's a whole new woman. I'd be surprise if she wasn't at least a little change!"

"Thanks Aunt Abby." Mia had introduced Abby as cool Aunt Abby, and Vivi had found that description to be completely true. She had never had an aunt before but she felt that Abby was the type of person who would have your back over a cliff. As a matter of fact she was certain that was the case of everyone at OPA.

They were one big happy family. Abby and Harrison could be the wild and rambunctious kids, Huck the ever watchful big brother, and her mom was the fearless leader. She didn't want to begin to think what her life would be like if she lost this new little family she found.

"No problem kiddo but you do have to get working. Your mom is going to be back from the Ms. Bryant's soon and I don't want her to think we've just been playing around."

With another nod Vivi nodded her head and walked back to the file room. As she always done she heard the front door of OPA opening followed by her mothers laughter and the booming laughter of an unfamiliar male. Immediately stopping what she was doing she stepped out of the small room and came to a stop as she saw a tall, good looking, dark haired man with his arm around her mothers shoulders, large smiles on their faces.

"Mom!" Vivi greeted brightly in an effort to break up whatever was brewing. The foyer of OPA was silent everyone was in their own office's busy working. "I'm so glad your back my eyes were about to go cross if I had to look at another file."

"Oh well we don't want that to happen." Olivia replied dropping a kiss on her daughters forehead. "Mia I would like you to meet a friend of mine from college this is Congressman Jacob Shaw. Jacob this is my daughter Amelia but we call her Mia."

"Hello Mia. Your mom's been telling me a lot about." He said holding out his hand to her. She accepted it with a small smile.

"Hi Congressman Shaw, and I wish I could say the same. My mom hasn't mention you once."

"Mia!" Olivia exclaimed in shock at her daughters sudden attitude.

"No it's fine Olivia. I'm sure that Mia and I will have a lot of time to get to know one another." He said giving Olivia's hand a gentle squeeze. "I'll call you tonight?"

"Yes that will be fine." Silently they watched him leave and Olivia turned to her daughter. "What was that little miss?"

"Nothing." Vivi replied shrugging her slim shoulders, "I was just telling the truth you haven't said anything about a Jacob Shaw."

"Still that was very rude."

"I'm sorry mommy." Vivi said softly, "So is he your boyfriend."

"Mia!" Olivia said rolling her eyes, "For your information no he is not my boyfriend. He's client or he's going to be he's preparing to run for re-election."

"Oh." Mia said softly but she still had an uncomfortable feeling deep in her stomach. She pulled out her cellphone and sent a quick S.O.S. text. "So can we go out for dinner?"

"Of course. What are you in the mood for?"

"Burgers." Vivi said quickly she had been craving hamburgers and fries.

"Okay honey just go ahead and get your things and make sure that everything in the file room is cleaned up."

"Alright." And with that Vivi hurried off toward the file cabinet.

With a heavy sigh Olivia made her way over to Abby's office. With a gentle knock she pushed the door open and crossed her arms over her chest as she closed the door behind her.

"What's up boss?"

"I just introduced Mia to Jacob."

"Oh!" Abby replied her eyes going to wide.

"Yeah and she completely freaked out. She asked me if he was my boyfriend."

"Well that is the million dollar questions. The two of you were hanging out while Mia was off at camp."

"We weren't hanging out I am helping him with his campaign. Jacob and I haven't been together like that since college."

"So do you want there to be something going on between you two or are you still hung up on your ex."

"Harrison asked me the same thing when we went to that ridiculous nightclub. Fitz was an amazing part of my life and he gave me two amazing gifts so maybe I am a little."

"Okay so what are you going to do about that?"

Before Olivia could replied there was a knock on the door. Opening the door she smiled down at Mia.

"All ready mom."

"Okay great sweetheart. We're going out for burgers do you want anything Abby?"

"Oh no thanks." Abby replied and watched the two woman exit the office with a small smile.

Authors Note: Hi guys thank you so much for condolences and well wishes! They were so heartwarming and a reminder of how much good is still in the world! So today is my birthday and its been a little bittersweet so I thought I'd upload a new chapter for you guys!

Now about this chapterit was a complete Olivia and Vivi centered chapter. Huck is a little suspicious of Vivi and Jacob Shaw is a man in Olivia's life. Olivia and Jacob are not a couple they're just friends maybe Jacob wants a little more but Olivia doesn't. Vivi of course doesn't know this so she's freaking out a little bit that her whole plan could be going up in smokes!
