Carried along the crisp night breeze was laughter that flowed such as a song. Moonlight streamed down from above, giving the form upon the roof a ethereal glow. Beauty that of a siren, hair as black as a ravens wings, vermillion eyes burning as an ember. His smile shone bright, true with the happiness his voice sung. The two young men stood on that roof. The raven's lilted voice continued to ring out. The other's dubious frown grew. Slowly the raven stopped his laughter and tilted his head as if trying to see the one before him anew, a smile still on his lips. Stealthily the raven approached the other similar to how one might come toward a wild beast. The beast remained unmoving his eyes locked upon the raven. Step by step the raven drew nearer. Not once did the beast flinch. They continued this way until they were no more than a breath apart. The ravens smile had softened as did the beast's frown. Sobered, the raven lowered his head in apology, resting it softly upon the beasts chest. The moonlight skewed as a cloud came to rest over it. The laughter was nowhere to be found. The raven looked back up at the beast. His smile now held sadness. Tears formed on those crimson eyes. As the cloud passed the moon they fell. They slid down his cheek like rain on glass. The smile remained, though broken. He opened his mouth as if to say something just as the moon shone again. The smile and the boy were no more. Vanished. Silently the beast stood upon the roof unmoving as ever.
