Chapter 1: Sudden Appearance

A human world with no such thing as dragons, wizards, or magic, would find itself adopting such very soon. Magic in the land of Earth was seen as an abstract concept to humans and to these humans, dragons or wizards didn't exist. Some people, however, were different; they stood outside such boundaries and were aware that such a world, in fact, did exist. They could even use magic themselves, but only a few were stupid enough to show it. There were three people in particular who were a part of this world. It's possible that they may come from another world, but that's yet to be known. The three all went to the same school; that school was called Abstract Magic High School. The school's principal was obsessed with magic, completely driven by the idea and the fantasy of the world that it would create. This was obvious; the school mascot was a wizard and the entire school was immersed in a theme that was everything magical.

One of the most well-known students was someone named Dayton Surogaki. He was the type of person who was ready to tackle the next challenge each day threw at him. Dayton had large, spiky brown hair and vermillion eyes, and he typically wore a short-sleeved brown shirt with flame designs, beige pants, and red tennis shoes. He was a big-time people person, always with someone and looking for fun. However, let's not forget he also had rivals too. A lot of people were afraid to fight him because he gained the reputation of The Lava Dragon Slayer, getting such a reputation through blasting someone into the wall with a large orb of lava. They named him a Dragon Slayer because, well, he gained scales on his face when he first used the technique. Having to go through a painful lecture after using it and being told to not use his magic like that stopped him from going off and flaunting about it. Since then, he held back when it came to school fights and tempered-down his use of magic, that is until someone like him happened to show up.

He walked in through the back doors, holding onto one strap of a black backpack he was wearing to class.

"Ugh, this is gonna suck." He said to himself bored, scratching the back of his neck. As magical as it seemed, it was just your typical school routine: Go to class, learn something, do some work, get homework, and turn it in the next day. He also felt like he never really had anyone to hang out with. There was a girl named Roxanne Laurel, whom he liked to mess with, despite her temper. She's dealt him a lot of pain because of that, but that hasn't stopped him from continuing to provoke her. There was also someone named Kyousuke Watanabe, but they didn't get along very well. They spent more time gritting their teeth over each other than actually enjoying themselves, despite having so many classes together. Dayton was not happy about that. As the day began to start, he continued walking through the school sleep-deprived with his mind somewhere else, not noticing the commotion ahead of him. Up ahead, there happened to be a bunch of people gathered around an unusual sight; there was so much commotion that Dayton couldn't help but get caught up in it himself. "Ugh...What's going on?" He said to himself in wonder, looking up and noticing people being shoved away.

"OMG, his hair is pink, like, oh my gosh!" One girl commented as other girls began gossiping about the person.

"Like, what's with his weird vest? He's shirtless underneath."

"What's with those clothes, they are so out of style! Nobody wears those!" They babbled on. Some of the guys were perplexed as well.

"Man, what a weirdo." One guy commented, angering the pink haired person.

"Who are you calling a weirdo?!" The pink haired guy shouted, getting up in the other guy's face. That put an end to that.

"Come on' bro, I don't want any trouble!" The guy appeased, trying to not start a fight. Suddenly, the pink haired guy's attention is then shifted towards Dayton as a path opened between the two.

"Who the heck are you?" Dayton questioned suspiciously, unintentionally starting commotion among everyone.

"What no way! It's Dayton!" Some people announced in surprise. The pink haired guy looked at Dayton with striking curiosity as Dayton headed his way. He stopped when there were at least five feet of distance between them, giving him a determined, skeptical look.

"What does it matter? Who are you?" The pink haired guy questioned in the same manner. That was enough to provoke Dayton into starting a fight, immediately getting defensive and ready to throw down.

"If you don't answer me, I'll make you answer me!" Dayton shouted angrily, getting on guard. The pink haired guy only smiled in response, getting ready to take him on.

"If it's a fight you're looking for, you've got one!" The pink haired guy said pleased, not thinking much of it. He lit his fists on fire as if it was nothing, putting a stop to what Dayton started and provoking his curiosity.

"What?!" He shouted in shock. Dayton didn't want to believe what he was seeing, the guy was using magic just like he would. "You can use magic too?!" Dayton questioned in shock. Everyone started to gossip with each other over it as the guy extinguished his flames and looked at him a bit confused.

"Ugh, yeah. Is it special or something?" The pink haired guy asked, being a little bewildered. Dayton widened his eyes upon hearing such a response; he thought he was the only one who could use magic. Whatever the case was, he immediately shook his head and reverted back to starting a fight with him, preparing to take him on in that instant.

"Oh yeah?! Well, I've got something special for you!" Dayton shouted, inflicting the pink haired guy with wonder. He looked back in wonder as Dayton began to make the lava orb. He held his hand out by the wrist and sent magic energy down to the palm of his hand, preparing to shape the orb. However, something stopped him. A girl with long, green hair grabbed him and slammed him down onto the ground, putting an end to what was supposed to be a fight.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?! You're going to get expelled if you keep using that technique!" The green haired girl shouted angrily, holding him down so he couldn't get up. Dayton started struggling to break free, so she just held him down and didn't let go.

"Roxanne?!" Dayton shouted upsettingly as he tried to break free. "There's some random guy in this school, he can use magic like I can!" Dayton said painfully, dealing with the pain as Roxanne looked up in surprise. She saw the male standing there in pure confusion, prompting her to get up and release Dayton. Roxanne just stared at the guy as Dayton held his arms in pain, her eyes becoming narrow as she too became skeptical.

"Who are you?" Roxanne questioned suspiciously, standing confidently as her bright green eyes shined. She was ready to fight on the spot if need be. Luckily enough, it wasn't necessary.

"There's no need to worry." A mature, female voice said. That person happened to suddenly be standing behind the pink haired guy. From what Roxanne could tell, she was wearing silver armor with a blue skirt and had incredibly long, scarlet hair. She put her hand on the guy's shoulder as he looked up at her in surprise.

"Erza?!" He said surprised, being confronted with her straight face. She moved her hand from his shoulder and backhanded him in the face, causing him to stumble backward as she went to grab him.

"Natsu, you fool!" Erza shouted while grabbing his shoulders. She pulled him back and started shaking him in frustration. "You don't even know where you are and you're about to start a commotion, what are you thinking?!" Erza said in irritation as Natsu only dizzy from her shaking him.

"They've already started one," Roxanne added, glaring at Dayton as he began to fear her wrath. She turned back to Erza and Natsu and walked up to the two cautiously. Erza could easily tell that she was on guard and didn't feel comfortable.

"You don't need to worry, we're not here to fight you," Erza said, trying to alleviate her caution.

"Well I am, come and face me!" Natsu shouted; throwing his fists in the air as he gets hit on the head in response. As Natsu rubbed his head in pain, Roxanne suddenly stopped for a minute as she got lost in Erza's presence.

"What the?" She thought to herself in surprise. For some reason, Erza's presence was intriguing; she felt elated just by standing next to her. Erza noticed her stare and looked at her in confusion as Dayton got up and noticed the two staring at each other. He let out a sigh of boredom in response as the two continued to stare at each other. There was something about each other that made them think, something that felt strangely familiar. Upon realizing that she was just standing there staring, Roxanne immediately snapped out it and shook her head, coming back to reality.

"Sorry." She quickly uttered, pulling her hand down her long, green hair. It was a unique hairstyle; it consisted of her hair being straightened with two braids on the sides, black & white tips being at the ends of each braid. Her hair had a vibrant sheen and Erza couldn't help but be mesmerized by it.

Within that moment, the principal of the school showed up. She was a woman wearing a black business suit with black high heels combined with a short, brown haircut. Looking around, the group noticed that all the other students were gone, and realized that the principal made them go to class. For some reason, she wanted to talk with the other two there, somehow not being surprised by their appearance.

"Ok..." She said with an elegant accent, managing to get everyone's attention. "You two," she said, twirling her pen at Natsu and Erza, "can follow Roxanne and Dayton to their class." She glared at Dayton as she finished, who gave a smile pleading for innocence. She then looked at Erza and Natsu with a cheesy smile glued to her face, not a pleasant one, that's for sure. Dayton let out a sigh of relief when she wasn't paying attention to him. "If I remember correctly, there are some others you two might know." She alerted as she pointed at the two. Both looked at her surprised, wondering what she was getting at as the principal then turned to Dayton and told him to come to her office after school.

"What?! No!" Dayton complained. The principle just ignored him and walked back to her office. With that, Roxanne walked over and grabbed Dayton, pulling him so that they could get to class. Their school had a large hallway; classes would be placed in aisles on either side of the hallway which contained several classrooms you could enter. Theirs happened to be near the end of the hallway. They walked straight down the hallway, looking for the aisle that their class was in as they thought over what just happened. The two mages, in particular, were confused about two things; where were they and who were these people? Who was also in the school that they might know?

"I don't think we're the only ones who came here Natsu," Erza said calmly, thinking about it. Natsu turned to her with a sense of surprise. Roxanne, however, got confused.

"Wait a minute; from what I'm hearing it sounds like you came from another world or something," Roxanne said in wonder. Erza looked back at her with surprise.

"From another world?" Erza said a little taken aback. The group made it to the aisle with their class, but they stopped for a moment to discuss the situation.

"It's just strange," Roxanne said, lying against the corner of the aisle as she tried to figure it out. She released a sigh before going on.

"Well..." She said, drawing a blank, "I don't know."

"You two just appeared out of nowhere!" Dayton said in amazement, catching their attention. "And you," He said, pointing at Natsu, "used fire magic like it was nothing!"

"What's so special about that?" Natsu asked confused, causing Dayton to be even more surprised by his response. Roxanne took the luxury of explaining this circumstance.

"Well magic here," Roxanne began, "is a rarity. Seeing people use it is like becoming a god in our point of view. It's so incredibly rare that only two percent of the population is known for it." Roxanne explained, completely baffling the two mages. They became utterly shocked, about to respond until someone interrupted them.

"Getting a bit carried away, are we?" A womanly voice asked. They all turned around to see a beautiful, light-blue eyed woman who had dark-blonde hair that went down to her shoulders. She was wearing a white business dress with white business shoes to match, her usual outfit when it came to teaching class.

"Ms. Areca!" Roxanne said in surprise, the teacher smiling in response.

"You don't need to worry, I understand what's going on." She explained calmly, relieving both Dayton and Roxanne. However, suddenly Roxanne questioned it.

"Wait, you know about this?"

"I do; I already came across another already. Why don't you two head to class; I want to speak with these two for a moment." Ms. Areca kindly requested, prompting the two to head to class. She looked back at Erza and Natsu and tried to talk to them about the ordeal. They stared at her in surprise as she moved in a bit closer to them. "Well this quite the situation, isn't it?" Ms. Areca said in an attempt to liven the mood. Erza immediately responded with her formal attitude.

"I'm not sure exactly what's going on; I can't remember anything past what's happened in this school and nothing looks remotely familiar to Magnolia. Neither of us knows what's going on." Erza explained to her, Ms. Areca nodding her head in response. She understood her situation, commotion in the class getting louder only proving it as the two could overhear some of what was going on in there. Natsu became a little curious but was suddenly distracted by Ms. Areca as she went on.

"Why don't we get you two into class and we can talk about this later? I'm sure you must know who this one I already have in here is." Ms. Areca calmly suggested, to which Erza and Natsu instantly agreed to with slight speculation. They both nodded their heads at her as she then led them into the classroom. This is where it all began.
