Trumpkin roamed the halls, looking under benches and in between walls, trying desperately to find his friend. No one had seen her since the battle. Of course, no one had seen much of anyone since an hour ago. It had been a victory for the narnians, and yet there was no rejoicing. No laughter and happy words, only rain pelting against cold glass.
By the time trumpkin found her, it was already dusk, although, with the rain, no one could tell. He walks tentatively forward into the room, refusing to let his eyes linger on the armor and maps littering the desk and floor. The balcony door was open, letting in rain and fridged winds. A sullen figure knelt at the edge, their hands clenched around a metal cylinder. Trumpkin collapses beside her, and barely notices the tears on her face due to all the rain. "He'll want you to hold on to that. Would hate if it got lost." Lucy chokes out a laugh, her whole body shaking. Trumpkin lays his hands on her shoulders, guiding her upright. "Come on, let's get you inside."
"No!" The valiant shakes off the dwarf, refusing to move from her brothers balcony. Trumpkin sighs, backing back into the room, but bumps into someone on his way out. "Let me." He nodded at his king, exiting the room completely. "Lucy." The young queen turns, facing the man standing in the room. In an instant, Lucy bolts towards him, her frozen arms wrapped around his neck, sobbing into his shoulder. "W-why?!"
"I don't know luce. I really don't know." His arms wrap around her, his hand stroking her wet hair as they both collapse on the cold stone. Later, probably an hour has past before words are spoken. "He's lucky, you know. He's in Aslan's country now." Lucy looked up, a sad smile gracing her features as she looked at the blonde. "I suppose you're right." She then glances down to her hands, then back to her brother. "I wonder if he'll need his torch."
I don't add very many authors notes to the ends of my stories, but i do intend to do so. I hope you enjoy my fics. I promise, not ALL of my fics have deaths. Only some. Pinkie swear.
