We continued down the sand bar, Jones's message shook me up quite a bit, my father knew about Emily he was coming and I didn't know when. I stayed in silence for most of the longboat journey. Will and Elizabeth were catching up on small menial things they had decided important, they asked me a few questions but I didn't answer them.
Boarding the boat Elizabeth starts her orders.
"We'll use the Pearl as a flagship, to lead the attack."
"Will we now? What gives you the right to dictate whose ship we use, as King shouldn't you use your own?."
"Jaz, look I understand your upset but we need to use the Pearl"
"Do we now? Jasmine is right missy" Barbossa agrees dragging Tia up from the brig.
"Alright Mrs Fish, c'mon" Ragetti coaxes.
"Barbossa, you can't release her" Will cries.
"We have to give Jack a chance."
Barbossa looks at me and me at him, we both know what i'm going to say and as much as I have every faith in Jack we need all the help we can get.
"Do it." I nod.
"Jaz! You can't! What about Jack?" Elizabeth shouts.
"Apologies, your majesty! Too long my fate has not been in my own hands- no longer." Barbossa snaps at Elizabeth pulling Sao Feng's necklace and dropping it into the bowl with the other pieces of eight. "Jasmine I need your piece" he approaches and I pass him the little silver coin charm that once attached to one of my bracelets.
"Jack will do what Jack does best - improvise. Hector and I are just making our odds better." I explain.
"Be there some sort of rite or incantation?" Gibbs asks.
"Aye. Items are to be brought together… done. Items to be burned. And someone must speak the words, Calypso, I release you from your human bonds."
"That's it?" I ask slightly sceptical.
"It was said it must be spoken as if to a lover." Barbossa adds "Calypso I release you from your human bonds" he shouts attempting to light the items.
I begin laughing, unable to control myself.
"Honestly Hector, spoken to as a lover! Would you really scream at someone like that in bed? I know your bedding skills leave a lot to be desired but really."
"You do it then if you're so clever" he snarls.
"As a lover… Tia or Calypso is a friend. Practically family - seriously she is my daughter Godmother." I roll my eyes at him.
Ragetti steps forward. He looks really nervous.
"You… you didn't say it right, you have to say it right." He gently pulls Calypso's hair back from her face "Calypso I release you from your human bonds." he whispers, pressing a kiss to her cheek.
The bowl begins to levitate as the items catch fire, she inhales the smoke. Tia looks directly at me and Emily and I feel my blood pumping beneath my skin. She looks away and her eyes fall closed, her head tilting forward.
"Tia Dalma. Calypso. When the brethren court first imprisoned you, who was it that told them how? Who was it that betrayed you?" Will demands but he knows he won't get an answer.
"Name him!" she growls sounding unhuman.
"Davy Jones." Will answers.
She looks heartbroken. Suddenly her body begins to grow, the ropes tying her begin to unwind in the crew's hands, she grows larger and taller than the mast. She rests against the mast almost breathless, I can't help but pity her.
"Calypso, I come before you as a servant, humble and contrite. I have fulfilled my vow, and now ask your favour, spare myself, my ship, my crew, but unleash your fury upon those who dare pretend themselves your masters or mine." Barbossa bargains, whilst we all bow before the goddess.
"Malfaiteur en tombeau, crochir l'esplanade, dans l'fond d'l'eau!" She screams at us all and Im unable to translate. She bursts into many crabs all which start cascading overboard. I pull Emily close to my chest to prevent her from harm.
"Was that it?" Will asks.
"Why, she's no help at all. What now?" Pintel growls.
"Nothing. Our final hope has failed us" Barbossa adds.
"Don't be so depressing" I murmur "We're not dead… yet." I add with a grimace.
"Now who's depressing." He grumbles shrugging his shoulder into mine.
"It's not over!" Elizabeth cries.
"There's still a fight to be had." Will adds.
"We've an armada against us, and with the Dutchman, there's no chance." Gibbs says.
"Only a fool's chance!" Elizabeth disagrees with Gibbs.
"Revenge won't bring your father back, Miss Swann, and it's not something i'm intending to die for." Barbossa argues.
"Your right. Then what shall we die for? You will listen to me! Listen! The brethren will still be looking here to us, to the Black Pearl to lead, and what will they see? Frightened bilge rats aboard a derelict ship? No! they will see free men and freedom. And what the enemy will see is the flash of our cannons, they will hear the ring of our swords and they will know what we can do! By the swear of our brows, and the strength of our backs, and the courage of our hearts… gentleman, ladies, hoist the colours."
"Hoist the colours" Will agrees.
"Hoist the colours" Ragetti shouts.
"Hoist the colours" Pintel shouts.
"The winds on our side, boys, that's all we need!" Gibbs shouts.
"Hoist the colours" barbossa and I shout together.
The rain begins to pour as the clouds darken the sea beginning to swell.
"Have you noticed on top of everything, it's raining?!" Pintel snarls.
"I don't see how we can not notice, we're soaked." I snap back, I haven't let Emily go since we got back on the boat, she is wrapped tight but I wouldn't be surprised if she starts crying soon.
"Jasmine, what will you do with her?" Barbossa asks, indicating to Emily.
"I don't know, I can't let go but equally it would be easier to fight with two hands." I sigh, I love Emily to pieces but at this moment…
"Maelstrom!" I hear Gibbs call out and spin to where everyone is looking.
The sea is opening up as the Dutchman and Pearl sail toward one another. It dips and begins to swirl. Lightning is hitting the middle and although incredibly daunting it's a beautiful sight. It seems Calypso has a plan after all.
"Are you ready to die Hector?" I ask with a subtle smirk.
"Captain Pearl, we need you at the helm" Elizabeth cries.
"I can't man the helm, defend myself and my child altogether Lizzie. I'm good but not even I can manage that."
"Captain Barbossa?" She looks at him pleadingly.
"Aye that be true! Brace up the yards, ya cack handed deck apes." He screams over the storm before looking at me "Dying is the day worth living for!" He directs at me before steering us in.
I and the crew feel the pull of the sea as we enter. The maelstrom is incredibly strong. I'm thankful that Barbossa is at the helm. I stand beside him Emily in my left arm my sword in my right.
"Jasmine, i've had a thought, put yourselves in the cabin and then leave Emily in the crib; you can easily protect her and yourself, you're not a coward for doing so." Barbossa gently tells me.
"On our stern and gaining" Will shouts.
"More speed! Haul your wind and hold your water!" Barbossa calls "Go." He tells me.
I do. I bolt my way to the cabin slamming the door shut behind me. Emily begins to cry as I place her into the crib.
"Please Emily please. Quiet." I whisper rocking the crib.
"Fire!" Barbossa calls.
"Fire!" repeats Elizabeth.
"Fire!" cries Will.
I hear the cannons start along with gunshots and I turn to Emily.
"This is it little one, please stop crying."
I can hear the sounds of swords clashing against each other and I know we've been boarded. My grip tightens on my sword and I pull the other from my back. Swinging them lightly as I prepare my stance, facing the door. The door slams open and an EITC soldier enters. He grins swinging his sword. I throw my right to block it and quickly swing at him with my left. He jumps back and I do the same when he goes for a kill shot. I bring my right sword and sweep his to one side. We continue in our little dance blocking and swinging. I throw my sword into a feint to the right he follows it stupidly and swipe across his neck with my left. He dies instantly. I'm breathing heavily but I freeze when I hear a slow clap behind me.
"Well done, though you would have finished him easily about three mintues ago. Always go for the kill daughter… don't mess around with them unless you're sure you've got the upper hand." Ellis stands leaning against a bedpost, his eyes on Emily's crib as she keeps wailing.
Quickly I block his view of her, my swords tightening their grip, Ellis walks forward his sword in his hand.
"Will you be introducing me to my granddaughter Jaz?" he asks.
"Like hell!"
I swing my sword and he blocks, back and forth we go parrying blocks exchanging blows. I've managed to slice his cheek open and break a chunk of his lobster claw arm off. He hasn't gotten near Emily. I've managed to force him to the back of our cabin, I don't fare well though. My arm is bleeding from a long cut, my leg is the same, a small cut on my forehead is also nothing damaging but I keep having to blink blood from my eye every so often. My father goes in for a swing to my right and I step in and as I step in to block his fist hits my cheek and I stumble to the left hard. Spitting blood from my mouth he grins at me and slams his sword onto my right sword knocking it from grasp, it slides across the floor and I fling my hand out drawing on my power within. Ellis sails across the room hitting the floor on the other side as I regain my breath. Emily is safe still but wailing in the background. Taking my sword from the floor, I prepare myself for the next round.
"I knew it!" Ellis snarls "You are a witch."
"I am – only recently though." I agree rather calmly "Handy don't you think?" I ask a slight smirk gracing my face.
My father's eyes turn dark and he charges at me, his sword sailing high into the air aiming to crash it down onto me, I block it with both my swords bringing them into a cross and force his sword back up. I aim to knee him in the stomach but he knocks my knee away and instead uses it to his advantage he swipes his foot under mine and I fall backwards to the floor. My swords leaving my grasp. His sword is bearing down on me and I roll to one side, scrabbling to regain my footing his boot forces me back down, my cheek pressing against the deck as I struggle to get out from under him. He lifts his sword as I reach down to my boot trying to reach the dagger that lies within. Emily's screams seem to get louder and all I can think of is her. Finally my hand grasps the handle of the dagger and I bring it up stabbing him in the leg. He stumbles backwards and I'm finally able to stand launching myself across the room toward the sword. I don't make it my father throws himself at me and begins punching my stomach I can only kick and punch him in response, he lifts me and throws me to the door, I lay on the floor as he kicks me again struggling to stand I watch him move to the crib – to Emily. He lifts her.
"No! Don't touch her." I throw a hand out and he holds her before him.
"Don't be using magic Jazzy, you don't want to accidentally harm her." He sneers.
I manage to stumble to my feet but I'm too late. His body moulds into the wall and my fists pound against it.
"Bring her back." I shriek "You bring her back."
I pound the wall a few times begging it to melt before me in the same way it does Jones crew. Determination sets in and I grab my dagger from the floor shoving it back in my boot and grabbing my two swords I sheath one and leave the other in my hand. I make my way out onto deck any enemy entering my vision is forced away with magic. My eyes are set on the Dutchman roaming the decks for any sign of Emily.
"Jaz" Someone calls out to me.
Barbossa is speaking to me and I realise I'm on the upper deck at the helm.
"Where is she?" He asks.
"He took her."
"Who?"
"My goddamned father, he has her. I'm going to get her back." I snarl.
I turn to look for a rope and as I do an EITC member enters my vision with his pistol aiming for Barbossa's head. I don't think I just shove my sword through his chest and pulling it out I quickly shove it through the back of the Dutchman crew member Barbossa is fighting.
Barbossa nods to me and I quickly find a rope timing it for the proper moment. I swing myself across to the Dutchman and quickly re-draw both swords, my eyes locking on to the figure standing in the shadows, a baby wailing in his arms. An animalistic snarl exits my throat as I charge my way across the deck once again using magic to make people carve my path. I swing my sword at my father and he raises his to block my own. He has a grip on Emily securely due to his claw. He won't let go. We're engaged in a vicious battle neither one gaining the upper hand, evenly matched, dancing our way across the decks. He forces me back with his next attack and boots me in the chest before I can recover. Diving to the left to avoid his next blow I bring my sword up and slice his lobster arm in effort for him to release my child. He growls in response and slices me across my left shoulder. I kick the back at him catching his right leg and he stumbles quickly taking advantage. I once again slice at his claw and I notice his grip loosen. Out of the corner of my eye I notice Jack and he me. His eyes widen as he takes in the situation. Just as he starts making his way toward me he's engaged in battle with one of Jones' men. I reconcentrate on my fight to get Emily. In a feint to the left I knock my father's sword from him and in a quick motion shove my sword into his chest, Emily wails in his arms but I don't stop pushing until the sword is firmly in his chest. And I grab Emily, latching my hands onto her small body and pull with all I have. He lets her go almost too easily and as I pull away from him I realise why Emily's blankets are soaked with blood and I realise when I stabbed my father I cut her arm too.
My father starts laughing but as he does blood is gushing from his mouth but he continues and I feel pain in my ribs looking down. I see a dagger between them, it's not deep enough to reach my heart but I know it might have done some serious damage. He backs up laughing. When I stabbed him he stabbed me.
"You can't beat me Jasmine, you've got the girl back but In the process you've done the unthinkable, you've made her bleed a poor innocent babe. More like dear old dad than you think. " he cackles.
I swing my other sword at him and he catches it in what remains of his claw pulling it from my grip. I stumble toward him. I grab the dagger in my side and pull it out clutching Emily to my chest to prevent her from harm and I shove the dagger into his eye and push hard. His remaining hand comes up to my neck and I feel his blood staining my skin. I push him away from me and he falls to the deck. Dead truly dead this time. For good. I let out a sigh of relief. Before turning back to the battle at hand.
I see Will and Elizabeth cornered, both defeated and Jones between them.
"Do you?" I hear and turn slightly. I see Jack holding Jones' heart. "Heady tonic holding life and death between the palm of one's hand" Jack announces.
I make my way to him, limping slightly and leaning heavily to one side. He gives me a questioning glance at my blooded state and quickly checks Emily over with his eyes frowning with all the blood.
"You're a cruel man, jack sparrow" Jones sneers.
"Cruel is a matter of perspective." I say looking over at my father's body.
"Is it, now?" Jones growls spinning around he stabs Will in the chest, releasing his sword and leaving it there laughing as he does.
"Will." I gasp beginning to run to him, Jack grabs my arm.
"Go, get her out of here. Get back to the pearl." he orders indicating to the heart and I understand his plan immediately.
I grab a rope and make the last swing back to the pearl Gibbs grabbing the rope on the other side and helping me over and safely on deck.
"She's taking us down! Make quick or it's the locker for us all!" Barbossa calls out.
He sails the Pearl out of the maelstrom and back onto gentler waters, I make my way along the ship, surveying the surroundings for Jack as the Dutchman has been taken with the maelstrom. I notice both him, Elizabeth and the monkey as they swim up to the pearl. Once on deck he makes his way to me.
"Are you alright?" he asks, grasping my shoulders checking me over.
"Are you?" I ask ignoring his question.
"I'm not the one covered in blood."
"No I suppose not." I laugh lightly "I'm alright, Emily is slightly injured, please dont panic its a small cut i'll clean it when we finish."
"If you're sure."
"Jack, Jaz, the armada's still out there: the Endeavour's coming up hard to starboard and I think it's time we embraced that oldest and noblest of pirate traditions…" Gibbs calls out.
"Never actually been one for tradition." Jack says.
"Close haul her. Luff the sails and lay on iron!" I command and Jack wraps his arms around me holding me close as we look upon our impending doom.
"Belay that, or we'll be a sitting duck." Barbossa snarls out.
"Belay that 'belay that.' Jack calls out in response.
"But Captain-" Gibbs tries.
"Belay!"
"The armada-"
"Belay!"
"The Endeavour…"
"Belay!"
"But we…"
"Stow. Shut it. Trust us" I growl out. Both our eyes trained on the vast ocean before us.
Suddenly the Dutchman rockets out of the ocean and I can practically feel Jack quiver with excitement and I'm the same, adrenaline rushing through my veins. I watch as Will turns at the helm, his crew looking far more human than ever before. And he looks like he belongs, gone is the stressed whelp, in his place stands a captain.
"Full canvas" Jack and I shout.
"Aye, full canvas!" Barbossa agrees.
The cannons are pulled out and all loaded with quick succession. We turn hard to starboard and sail with quick succession toward Beckett's ship, the Dutchman is in tandem with us, the Pearl and the Dutchman on either side of the Endeavor, blocking any escape. We get slightly on her side of her. Jack is holding me as I rest leaning into his chest, as we watch Beckett's ship.
"Cap'n?" Gibbs calls.
"Fire." Jack and I say in unison.
"Fire!" Gibbs repeats.
"Fire all" Elizabeth gets her word in.
Both ships begin firing toward the Endeavour and she doesn't fire back, gleefully I watch as Beckett's soldiers run around lost and confused, my eyes lock onto the lone figure who seems in a daze as they walk the length of the ship. Beckett. The rest of his crew are abandoning ship. The Endeavor explodes as the powder magazine ignites, Becketts body flies into the water and he lands upon his flag.
"It's nothing personal, just good business." I whisper.
Jack squeezes my side and I feel a burning pain, it ignites along my body and I ache all over. Groaning slightly, I close my eyes leaning into him a lot more. He looks at me in concern. The crew are all celebrating and I cannot help but smile with them, the various hats are all tossed into the air and the same can be seen for all the pirate ships around. Today we battled for the sea and today we got victory.
"Mister Gibbs, you may throw my hat if you like." Jack says.
"Aye aye captain! Hooray!" He exclaims, tossing Jack's hat.
"Now go and get it." Jack demands.
"What now Jazzy?" Jack whispers.
I turn in his arms and he lifts his hand off my side to cup my face. I lean toward his touch.
"Jaz." he gasps.
I look at his hand, it's red and before I can blink he's pulling at my shirt, which is also red. In the adrenaline rush of it all. I'd forgotten that he'd stabbed me.
"Sparrow, i know we've just won a battle but do you have to begin ravishing your wife on deck - shouldn't it be more suited to a cabin." Barbossa growls out.
"Shut it and take Emily before she collapses." Jack snarls, continuing to pull at my shirt.
"What?" He asks.
"Jack, I'm fine," I tell him.
Barbossa looks down at Jack, at his blooded hands and my shirt, his face registers realisation and he grabs Emily and I grab Jack's shoulders as I feel slightly faint. Looking down as Jack has gotten my shirt up, I see a gaping wound in my side, bubbling with blood that's spilling down, bruises are already beginning to form across my stomach. Hector looks at me in horror.
"Fine, ey?" he asks moodily "Come on, to the cabin, i'll go get Gibbs" Jack says.
"Sparrow, i'll sew it."
We head to the cabin, Jack supporting me and he sets me down on the bed before retrieving a bottle of rum and a needle and thread.
"Check Emily first - I nicked her with my blade, during the fight, I didn't mean to."
Hector removes Emily's blankets and checks her over, the cut on her arm isn't deep but it may leave a scar, he rubs a little rum into it and she cries loudly, before he wraps it up giving her to Jack to hold. Carefully he rolls my shirt up.
"Screw it, just cut it off." I snarl "It's not like you've not seen it before."
He winces but does I ask, he cuts it off leaving me only in bindings, dipping a cloth in water he gently begins to clean the wound, before rubbing some rum into it, and around it.
"How bad?"
"You've lost quite a bit of blood, but you'll live and it doesn't look like you've damaged anything internal." Barbossa says whilst threading the needle.
With steady hands, he begins stitching me back together and in a short while I'm back to normal. I sit up slowly wincing as I pull the stitches but they hold. Barbossa quickly washes out the wounds on my shoulder, arm and head but declares they don't require stitches. He reaches for my leg and I pull it away. He holds his hands up and backs up slightly. I carefully pull the material apart so he can get access to the cut, he carefully cleans it but repeats his statement for no stitches. He leaves the cabin and Jack places Emily in her crib before finding me a new shirt and breeches. I dress quickly eager to be back with celebrations.
"You took a beating Jazzy." Jack whispers as I strain my ears to hear him.
"Aye. Yet you battle Jones and come out unharmed." I chuckle "I killed him, he's truly dead this time."
"So I saw. Thank you for keeping her safe when I couldn't." He whispers, kissing me softly.
"I always will." I murmur.
He kisses my forehead, and turning away he retrieves Emily, we exit the cabin and make our way back to the crowd. Looking around I notice the other ships have already set sail to their varying is stood by a longboat and I see Will doing the same thing over at the Dutchman, I make eye contact with him and we both smile and nod at the other, making our goodbye with eye contact.
"Your chariot awaits, your highness, the oars are inside." Gibbs tells her.
"Mrs Turner." Barbossa nods. When did that happen?
"Goodbye poppet." Pintel tells her.
"Jack. it would never have worked out between us." She tells my husband.
"Keep telling yourself that, darlin. Once was quite enough" he finishes when she goes for a kiss.
"Good luck, it won't be easy" I tell her.
"Jaz, I'm sorry" she whispers back, I know she is not only apologisng for killing Jack but also for sacrificing him to jones. I choose not to respond.
"Thank you." she tells us all before descending into the longboat. It's lowered for her and she makes her way.
"Captain do we have a heading?" Gibbs asks.
I flick the compass lid up, the arrow swirls a little before setting a heading.
"We have our heading." Jack calls I toss the compass to Gibbs.
"Tortuga?" he asks hesitantly.
"Tortuga." We agree,
"I am going to get some rest, I ache all over."
Jack nods and I make my way to the cabin, quickly pulling my boots off, and I get into bed. My eyes fall shut within seconds.
Jolting awake I feel arms around me, turning slightly. I see Jack looking down at me, smiling softly.
"What are you looking at?" I whisper.
"My beautiful pirate wife of course." He whispers back.
"What do you want?" I ask.
"Do I need to want something in order to compliment you?" He asks, flicking my nose.
"Yes" I moan, pushing him away so I can get out of bed.
He grumps slightly, putting his lip out and I roll my eyes.
"Where are we?"
"Tortuga!"
"I slept that long?" I ask, slightly shocked,
"Yes."
"Oh. Come on then, I'm surprised you waited." I tell him, pulling my boots on, and rescuing Emily from the crib.
We walk into tortuga, Jack fluttering nervously behind Emily and I, as me make our way toward the faithful bride. Passing a seamstress, I make my way inside.
"Can I help?" the seamstress asks.
"Yes, I need childrens clothing, as you can tell, my husband and I live upon the sea and as such, cannot make port every few weeks for a childs clothing. I need enough for many months at sea."
"Sure thing darling. I'll give you all I have for a few gold pieces." She bargains and I flick a pouch full of silver and a couple of gold pieces at her.
She accepts the payment and carefully packages our purchase, whilst there I grab both Jack and I some new clothes. We exit the shop with our packages in hand and carefully make our way back to the docks. Only as we approach I notice there are no black sails in the harbour. Instead a dinghy sits where the pearl should be docked. I feel my anger beginning to surface. Looking out to the horizon I see black sails and the outline of a ship.
"I'm going to kill him" I say very calmly and Jack winces.
"At least he didnt rape you this time" Jack adds.
"That's supposed to make this better" I gesture to the raft.
"Nope!"
"He's a dead man walking" I snarl,
Walking away and toward a tavern, Jack quickly follows and hands me Emily.
"There is one bonus. He doesn't know where he's going" Jack says, smirking as he pulls Sao Feng's charts from inside his coat.
"Do we have a heading?"
"What do you think about the Fountain of Youth?"
Finally I have finished this fic, its taken ages - and I understand I have lost followers etc but i'm very glad I finished it. I do have plans to continue on, so eventually I hope to do On Stranger Tides. Thank-you to my readers.
