Chapter 16. I apologize for my absence, I lost interest in Frozen for a while but now I'm hooked again!

Mikkel opened his eyes again frustrated. Sleep would not come to him. He looked down at Elsa who was calmly sleeping on his chest. Mikkel did not feel comfortable with this. This was wrong, she was a married woman, even if her husband was a bastard.

"Elsa?" Mikkel said. "Elsa." Elsa opened her eyes slowly and looked up to Mikkel.

"Yes?" She asked rubbing her eyes.

"You have to leave." Mikkel said.

"What?" Elsa asked shocked as she got off of him. "Why?"

"Because you are a married woman." Mikkel said getting up. "This is wrong and you know it."

"Mikkel." Elsa said sadly as she walked up to him trying to hug him.

"No Elsa." Mikkel said snapping back.

"I don't love him Mikkel!" Elsa cried. "He doesn't care for me! We are only married for an alliance!"

"But married nontheless, infidelity is a serious sin." Mikkel said. "Plus imagine the scandal that would erupt."

"But I-" Elsa began to say as she closed her eyes and sighed. He was right, even if she didn't love Ross. Elsa looked back at Mikkel, couldn't he see that she wanted him? Oh Lord how bad she wanted to take his hand in hers and kiss him deeply. She had loved him for so long, since they were children. She daydreamed for countless hours during her years of isolation of marrying him and their wedding day. She was so broken when news of his 'death' reached her. Now that he was here again alive, it was almost like a sign from God Himself that they were meant to be. But thats the thing, he did not love her. His heart beat for no one, his emotions cold and his soul void. That's it, she had to annul the marriage. Elsa would forgive the Southern Isles of Hans' crimes and Ross would be on his way back. Her thoughts were interrupted when the doors opened and in came her sister.

"Mikkel I-" Anna cried holding a small vial as she saw Elsa and Mikkel in the cell together. "Did I interrupt something?"

"Who is that?" Mikkel asked pointing to Kristoff. Kristoff took a long look at Mikkel. So this was the infamous Seawasp? The son of Soren Erikson? It gave Kristoff an eerie feeling how alike the two of them looked.

"I'm Kristoff." Kristoff said.

"He's my well you know!" Anna said smiling taking Kristoff's hand. Mikkel grunted as he sat back down.

"I got this for you." Anna said holding out a potion.

"What is that?" Mikkel asked.

"A healing potion, it will help your wounds heal fast." Anna said.

"I don't need it." Mikkel said. "Give it to my crew."

"But you're all cut up!" Anna cried.

"I said I'm fine, my crew needs it more than I do." Mikkel said. Anna looked to Elsa who just nodded.

"Okay if you say so." Anna said as she and Kristoff made their way to the cell block with the other Sea Rangers. Mikkel looked back at Elsa who was still distraught. "Maybe its best if we don't see each other anymore."

"WHAT?" Elsa cried. "NO!"

"I am a criminal, a pirate. Even if you Ross wasn't here and I wanted to be with you it would never work out! You are a queen!" Mikkel said.

"You're my friend!" Elsa said. "Mikkel please stay! We all want you here!"

"Maybe I don't wanna be here!" Mikkel said. "When I was at sea, I was free! Now I am a damned prisoner of my own country."

"I didn't want you put away! No one did!" Elsa cried. Mikkel was getting aggravated now.

"Listen, you are married. I am a criminal. I do not belong here in this cell and neither do you." Mikkel said as he pointed his hand to the cell door. "Now please leave before King Ass comes down and makes a scene!" Elsa put her hand in her head and just walked out. He really didn't want anything to do with her and why should he? She was the reason he was kicked out of the castle and the reason he was struck with ice. Elsa didn't make a sound as she left the cell and made her way to her room. Anna and Kristoff had arrived in the cells containing the other Sea Rangers and began administering the medicine.

"Who are you?" Seawolf asked eyeing them suspiciously.

"I'm Princess Anna." Anna said. "I'm here to help."

"We don't want any more help from you damn royalty!" A sea ranger named Seafly said as he showed his flayed skin from the whip.

"And who is this bastard with you?" Seawolf asked. "Another damned spoiled prince?"

"You know if you don't want this healing potion we can just leave." Anna said sternly.

"How do we know it not poison?" Seabear asked.

"Oh come on why would we poison it?" Kristoff asked.

"We know what you people think of us. Barbaric savages who deserve a short drop and a sudden stop!" Seafly yelled. Anna sighed, she wasn't getting to these guys. Kristoff looked around the room as an idea popped into his head.

"You want proof?" Kristoff asked pulling out his personal dagger and bringing it to his palm.

"Kristoff what are you doing?" Anna asked as Kristoff sliced his palm open creating a large pool of blood and a pained grunt from Kristoff.

"KRISTOFF WHAT ON EARTH!" Anna cried.

"Gimme the potion!" Kristoff said holding his bleeding hand tightly. Anna quickly gave him the potion and Kristoff drank it. Immediately he felt the sharp throbbing pain slowly disappear and he looked down to see his hand had indeed stopped bleeding and that the wound had healed. The sea rangers sat there intrigued.

"See?" Kristoff said.

"Alright lad you win." Seawolf said. "We apologize for our behavior."

"Okay here you go!" Anna said as she gave a drop to each Sea ranger who felt the immense burning pain subside and their wounds heal. They all felt instantly better as the pain left their bodies.

"Thank you." Seabear said gratefully bowing his head. "I never forget." Anna smiled at the big man as he raised his head back up.

"I don't suppose you can get us out of here?" Seawolf asked hopefully.

"I'm sorry." Anna said. "I wish I could get you out of here but since I'm only the princess only my sister and brother in law could free you."

"Well we are all dead men then." Seafly said.

"My sister won't let you be killed." Anna said. "I promise."

"It's not your sister we are concerned about, its that damned bastard of a husband she has." Seawolf said. "We could hear him torturing the captain the other night, saying that next time he was whipped it would be to the bone."

"What was he doing?" Kristoff asked.

"We don't know." Another Sea ranger said. "All we heard was Seawasp screaming and your king taunting him."

"That bastard!" Anna screamed fuming almost throwing the rest of the potion to the ground. Were it not for Kristoff's last minute save, it would have been lost. "That entire family has no conscious!"

"Is it true princess?" Seawolf asked.

"What?" Anna asked.

"Seawasp, him and your sister were close." Seafly said.

"They were best friends since they were six, he was the sweetest most kind little boy you could ever meet." Anna said smiling at the memories. "When they were twelve Elsa's powers got a little out of control."

"So it is true, the Ice Queen does exist." Seawolf said.

"Its okay though!" Anna cried. "She can control herself now!"

"I see, carry on." Seafly said.

"Anyways, Mikkel had to leave the castle but broke in to see her again where she accidently struck him with her powers." Anna said sadly."Ever since that day hes been less and less of who he used to be."

"Poor bastard." Seawolf said. "What is to become of him?"

"Pardon?" Anna asked.

"His fate, will he live?" Seawolf asked.

"Yes, you all will live." Anna said smiling. "However you all are required to do ninety days community service."

"What then?" Seabear asked. "We just get let go?"

"Yeah I'm pretty sure." Anna said.

"Fraid not yer highness." Seawolf said. "There's no way we will get let off scot free for this."

"What do you mean?" Kristoff asked confused.

"We know what the royalty in the world wants to do with us." Seafly said. "They want order, we represent chaos. In their eyes, anyone who does not pay tribute or taxes is a criminal."

"We are wanted by several kingdoms across Europe. Three in Africa, and four in Asia, plus the Americans." Seabear said.

"But why?" Anna asked. "I thought you didn't kill?"

"Yes we do not kill, but we do steal and raid ships for what we need." Seawolf said. "Your king will most likely turn us over to the kingdoms that want us dead."

"No why would he do that?" Anna asked horrified.

"There's a high bounty on our heads. Thousands of dollars, your country could build a new fleet with that money." Seafly said.

"No I won't let my sister do that!" Anna cried.

"Some of us are better off dead lassie." Seawolf said sadly. "You see Searhino over there?" Anna turned to see a large man with a broken look on his face. He stares at the ground and holds onto to a silver locket. His bald head covered in scars.

"Yes what about him?" Kristoff asked.

"He was betrayed by his country. He was sent on a secret mission to take down an illegal arms dealer in another country. When he was exposed he was mistaken as a worker for the arm dealer. His kingdom did not want to risk war so they left him to hang. His wife, believing he was a criminal, annulled their marriage and ran off with his two daughters. Theres nothing left for him in this world." Seawolf said. Anna's heart ached at hearing the tragic story. She did feel for these men/

"Seaspider over there lost his son to a Black Sun's raid." Seafly said pointing to a red headed man who had a nasty scar stretching across his face.

"Seabird there was framed for a crime he did not commit."

"Seascorpion was falsely accused of rape by his wife."

"Sealeopard and Seacheetah were slaves."

"Seaworm was a prisoner of war." Anna felt tears come to her eyes hearing this. What had these men done that fate had to be so cruel to them?

"I swear to all of you, I will do everything in my power to see you all set free." Anna said.

"Don't make a promise if know you can't keep it." Seawolf said.

Elsa sat alone at her desk sadly looking at the wall. Mikkel was right, it would never have worked out. She decided it was best if she just avoided him entirely. She heard knocking at the door.

"Elsa its me." Anna said.

"Go away." Elsa said sadly.

"Elsa please don't do this to me again." Anna said sadly. Elsa felt guilt at locking her sister out after she promised to never do it again.

"Come in." Elsa said. Anna walked in and saw the sad look on her sister's face.

"What's wrong?" Anna asked.

"Its Mikkel." Elsa said sniffling.

"He didn't hurt you did he?" Anna asked.

"No." Elsa said. Atleast not physically.

"What happened then?" Anna asked.

"I l-love him." Elsa said shutting her eyes shut as tears leaked out. "But he doesn't love me, even if he did I'm stuck with Ross."

"Oh Elsa." Anna said hugging her sister. "Everything will work out."

"Its so horrible being married to someone you don't love." Elsa said. "Even worse that the one you do love doesn't love you back."

"Elsa I know he still cares for you." Anna said. "He just needs time to realize it."

"I caused so much trouble for him." Elsa said defeated. "Because of me his mother lost her job and he had to leave the castle. I struck him with ice, I allowed him to be whipped- I-I" She said breaking down, it was too much for her. Anna wondered if this was the best time to tell her of the severity of Mikkel's condition. The suddenly felt the castle rumble as an explosion was heard. The two girls shrieked as the paintings fell off the walls.

"What was that?" Anna asked as several guards ran in.

"Your Highness, there has been a prison breach!" A guard yelled.

Mikkel sat in his cell thinking about what had just happened. Did he really love her? At one point he did, but that was before she froze him. He remembered as a child how he always told her he would be there for her.

Many years ago.

A loud bang of thunder echoed through the halls of the castle as seven year old Elsa threw her covers over her head and cried. She hated thunder, it was so loud, so scary, so powerful. She grabbed her doll and held it close hoping it would go away. Each bang of thunder and flash of lightning caused her to retreat further into her blankets. She jumped as she heard knocking on the door.

"Elsa?" A little boy asked. "Its Mikkel can I come in?"

"Y-yes." Elsa said shaking from fear. The door creaked open as a loud bang of thunder rocked the room causing Elsa to shriek and cry. Mikkel saw how scared she was and walked over to her bed.

"Elsa it okay its only thunder." Mikkel said with a smile.

"B-buts its so s-s-scary!" Elsa cried.

"I like it, its peaceful." Mikkel said smiling as he hopped on her bed. Having Mikkel near her made Elsa feel much better. "Its kind of a bummer though, I wanted to play outside today."

"I wish I was brave like you, you're not scared of anything." Elsa said.

"I'm scared of things, everyone is." Mikkel said.

"What are you scared of? You always seem so brave." Elsa said.

"Well I'm scared of you being sad." Mikkel said. Elsa felt her heart rush at this.

"What do you mean?" Elsa said twirling her hair.

"You're such a happy and pretty girl, it makes me sad if you are sad." Mikkel said. Elsa blushed heavily at this as the loudest bang of thunder yet nearly knocked down the glass vases in her room. Elsa screamed and curled up into a ball as she began to cry relentlessly. Mikkel saw her cry and scooted next to her and wrapped his arms around her.

"I won't let the thunder hurt you, I'll never let anything hurt you." Mikkel said warmly to Elsa who clung onto him for dear life. She looked up at him with her tear stained eyes.

"Thank you." She said. "You're my best friend."

Mikkel couldn't help but smile at the memory. Oh when they were so young and innocent. He found himself thinking about what could have been...No! It was too late now, they had gone their separate paths, it was time to move on and forget about her. His thoughts were interrupted as his cell shook and a loud explosion left his ears ringing. He heard yelling and clashing of swords as he heard footsteps running down the hallway. He looked up to see a friendly face he never thought he'd see again.

"Dammit Seawasp, ye couldn't lay off the liquor for just one more day?"

"Sealion." Mikkel said laughing as he greeted his former captain.

I again apologize for my absence, I will try to update as fast as I can now that I am in the frozen mood. R&R my minions!
