Author's Note: OK, so...I'm two days late. This is unusual for me, so I suppose you all deserve an explanation. I have been busy with various things IRL (bills, housework, etc) and I, somehow managed to do something very silly.
You see, this is the first SATL chapter to have a lemon in it (or rather referenced in it) and in order to comply with the guidelines, I wrote the lemon separately. I have, rather stupidly, somehow lost that lemon. I suspect I accidentally deleted it, so I am re-writing it. It should be up on Archive of Our Own by the third of June.
Speaking of, I'm taking June off from my schedule. This is to catch up on my writing schedule, as I've been distracted by too many tempting whispers from my muse about other stories. Stupid imagination...
Anyway, see you on the 1st of July for the next chapter of Naruko.
Read, Review and check out my other stories! And seriously, my story schedule is on my profile. Please actually LOOK at it before you PM or ask in a review when the next chapter is up!
Disclaimer: I do not own Sekirei. More's the pity, now that it's out in paperback.

Chapter 22: Echoing Light
Next Day
Chairman's Office, MBI Tower
Minaka Hiroto winced as he rubbed his jaw, the livid bruise resting there a clear reminder of his last 'meeting' with his chief scientist yesterday. Sahashi Takami was many things: beautiful, brilliant, a bit on the controlling side, and she knew how to throw one hell of a punch.
As one would expect of a woman who was an accredited master in her family's brand of martial arts.
The slightly insane man was privately convinced that she was more than capable of one-punching Mike Tyson or Lennox Lewis, easily. Sadly, that was an experiment that would likely remain untested, the one time he'd tried to get her into a boxing ring as a 'PR stunt' she T.K.O'd him with a solid hook and he could only hear bells for three days afterwards.
Turning his mind away from the combative skills of his ex-lover, the CEO of MBI recalled why she had punched him, namely Number Nine almost killing their son (he was Minaka's son too, no matter how much Takami tried to deny it), and the Water Sekirei was currently out of reach due to committing the cardinal sin of talking down to Kazehana and getting sent flying for her troubles. Instead, he'd become a suitable scapegoat for Takami's anger and had earned himself a close look at her fist for 'inventing the Sekirei Plan in the first place.'
He'd thought of reminding her that she was the one who'd introduced Minato to his first Sekirei, but had decided against it. He was still rather attached to his teeth after all.
Any punishment for Number #09 would be forestalled until she got back from her trip on Kazehana Airlines.
Seriously, why the blond water-user had thought she could get away with talking down to a member of the original Discipline Squad like she had was beyond him. Then again, the names and physical appearances of the members of the First Generation were unknown by most Sekirei these days, so she could be excused for not knowing precisely who Kazehana was. Brazenly and thoughtlessly provoking random Sekirei was simply far too reckless for even one as powerful as a Single Number. Unless she was Winged by an Ashikabi who was able to keep her in line, she would wind up being the first Single Number to be eliminated.
Dismissing the Sekirei of Water from his mind, Minaka turned his mind to the four so-called 'Cardinal Ashikabi'; Sahashi Minato, Higa Izumi, Mikogami Hayato and Sanada Nishi. Two of the quartet were rapidly turning into true problem children, while the other two mostly kept to the rules of the Sekirei Plan.
Quite the little juxtaposition, really.
All four were unique young men in their own right. Higa, Minaka knew, had the pressures of his Zaibatsu weighing down on him, the old men of his father's board pressuring him to take over MBI as a condition of becoming the head of the Hiyamakai Zaibatsu.
Mikogami was practically dominated by his control-freak parents and was actually enjoying having some degree of freedom for a change thanks to his Sekirei putting the Fear of God (TM) into the two the first time they'd tried to make demands of their Ashikabi.
Sanada Nishi was somewhat similar to Seo Kaoru in both personality and appearance (He was honestly tempted to get a DNA sample from the younger man and run a DNA comparison just to see if the boy was some by-blow of Seo's), but genuinely cared for his Sekirei. Despite being a bit of a hooligan, the man actually tried his best to avoid unnecessary bloodshed, which was quite unfortunate given the bloodthirsty nature of three of the man's Sekirei; Number 14, Chiyo, the Great Scythe Sekirei, Number 17, Yūna, the String Sekirei and Number 20, Hatae, the Claw-Knife Sekirei.
Not only were those three bloodthirsty on a level that put them just below Karasuba, but they were also rebellious enough to constantly go against their Ashikabi's orders more times than not.
As for Sahashi Minato (his son), Minaka was, dare he say it, proud of the boy. Eleven Sekirei, including two Single Numbers, and with a third one clearly reacting to him. Plus, he was allied with his little sister, who had two Sekirei of her own. And he had passed his Entrance Exams with flying colours; a chip off the old block indeed.
'And it's a good thing a friendly Ashikabi has little Kusano...or not-so-little Kusano as the case may be, as she's fully matured.' the insane man thought. 'If things go pear-shaped, like a certain country getting too big for its britches again and doing something stupid again, and some of the Sekirei die, Minato can easily be persuaded into having her revive them.'
Now that Number 108, Kusano, had been fully matured, she was a vital fail-safe for Minaka and his plans. If things in the Sekirei Plan turned belly up and the game was forced to be reset, he could have the Sekirei of Life revive the Sekirei for the Neo Sekirei Plan and start the game all over again...once Minaka had determined what anomalous factor had interfered in his plan and removed it, of course.
For that end, it had been vital for Kusano to have a good protector, an Ashikabi who cared for her and wouldn't risk her needlessly, if at all. He had been planning on going through the active Ashikabi for a good choice before 'nudging' fate a bit to have the newly matured girl cross their path, but that had been taken out of his hands by the girl apparently choosing his son out of her own free will. If anyone could get through Minato's other ten Sekirei, plus Yukari's own pair, to get to Kusano, Minaka would be very surprised.
Even Karasuba would have to tread carefully against that sort of opposition, not that the bloodthirsty Black Sekirei wouldn't gladly try.
Heck, Miya might just join in against someone who would attack the sanctuary which was the Northern sector of the city. There were very few things that hit the button at the back of his head that was labelled 'Primal Terror', but a truly angry Asama Miya was one of them. Minaka was of no illusions about what would happen if MBI ever broke the deal with Miya; Karasuba's delusions aside, Miya was Sekirei 00/01 and was thus the most powerful of the Sekirei, point blank. There was no force on earth that could stop her once she was riled up.
Except all of the Jinki put together, perhaps, but after what had befallen his friend Takehito, Minaka was ill at ease to use the jewels for anything but their intended purpose. That is to say, to control the Sekirei mothership. Besides, although he may not look like it, he did keep his word when he made a deal.
A madman he might be, but Minaka still had some standards, dammit!
Returning to the point, the Four Great Ashikabi (as they were called by others) were the most powerful on the planet in terms of numbers and strength of Sekirei, and he would willing lay good odds that his son was the most powerful of the lot due to the sheer number of Sekirei that had willingly Winged themselves on him.
Sanada Nishi came a close second. Despite having the smallest 'flock' of Sekirei of the four, all of his had been willingly Winged (more or less) and even the vicious trio still cared for him, despite their bloodthirsty nature constantly pushing them into fights he'd rather avoid.
Mikogami did at least care for his Sekirei...unfortunately his 'love' was more akin to a collector and his beloved collection. It wasn't the same as a bond formed from a true reaction and love, but it was better than nothing.
Finally, Higa, despite the size of the flock he'd gathered, was, frankly speaking, an appalling excuse of an Ashikabi. He made no attempt to understand the nature of the bond, dismissing it as 'pseudo-religious dribble' and had little true connection to his Sekirei. His habit of treating the Winging of a Sekirei like signing a contract was diffusing any possible power that they might possibly get from the ceremony.
Really, it amazed him how a smart man, one as intelligent as Higa self-evidently was no less, could continually be blind to the reality of a Sekirei's source of power.
Love.
Trust.
Affection.
Without those three vital and intrinsically linked emotions coming from their Ashikabi, a Sekirei's strength was only a weak and pale shadow of what it could be.
If a second Sekirei Plan was needed, having Higa removed from candidacy as an Ashikabi was going to be a necessary step in order to ensure that all of those Sekirei he had forcibly Winged were truly set free upon revival.
This was assuming that the Heir to the Hiyamakai Zaibatsu didn't wise up in the interim, of course. In the Game of the Gods, it was to be expected that some miracles would occur. As Terry Pratchett wrote in one of his books, million to one chances happen nine times out of ten, or something along those lines.
Sighing reluctantly, Minaka turned his mind to the paperwork he had to fill out. This was the part of running a multi-million company like MBI that he detested. He could be doing so many more interesting things rather than messing around with forms, requisitions and reports! But if he ignored them, Takami would German Suplex him through the floor; she'd done it once before and he had no intentions of having to use the Sekirei Mothership's advanced healing bays again, thank you very much!
Scowling slightly, the so-called 'Idiot in a Cape' settled in to do his paperwork. Seriously, the things he had to do to bring about the Age of the Gods...
Later
Hallway, Sahashi Minato's Home
Ever since he had first met Hikari and Hibiki and Winged them, shortly followed by Musubi, Minato had been well aware of how...plain...he was by comparison with them. Every single one of his alien wives was beautiful, elegant and amazing, while he...just wasn't.
Oh, he wasn't ugly, at least he didn't think he was, but he wasn't about to win any awards either.
Still, the mental presence of his wives was having a very reassuring effect on his crumbling self-confidence. All he had to do was mentally reach out and brush the link he shared with any one of them and their feelings would surge out like a wave and sweep him away. The surge of love, adoration, affection, and faith was an amazing ego boost and Minato was willing to admit that it was a bit on the addictive side
Sometimes, when he reached out mentally to one of them, they would react physically...such as right now, as he was pinned to the wall by a vision of beauty that the ancient Japanese would have identified as a Yuki-onna or Snow Woman. Akitsu devoured his mouth with her own, the clumsy yet earnest efforts of the former Discarded Number physically showing him the desire that he could feel.
After several minutes of this, the two came up for air and Minato looked into the flushed and vulnerable face of his newest Sekirei with a smile that had her ducking her head embarrassedly.
"That was nice." he said, making the girl in his arms look away with a beet red blush. "A bit of warning would have been nice too, but I'm not complaining when I have a pretty girl in my arms."
"Minato-sama..." Akitsu breathed. "I..."
"You're anxious." the rave-haired boy said softly. "You're scared that this is a dream or something. Am I wrong?"
Those links had several other benefits other than a simple confidence boost.
"Y-Yes..." the Sekirei of Ice said so quietly it was barely audible. "I...had nightmares because of that water woman from yesterday."
"Ah." Minato instantly understood where she was coming from. Almost seeing her Ashikabi being drowned/crushed under a ton of water (had she not intervened) would stir that kind of negative feeling up within her. After waiting and being unable to be Winged for so long, having someone attacking her Ashikabi such a short time after it finally happened would no doubt have shaken her, so it was no surprise that the slight mental touch he'd used had made her overreact like that.
"I'm fine." he said, looking her in the eyes and cupping her face with one hand. "I'm alive. I'm not going anywhere."
Just those simple words made Akitsu tear up and hug him tightly, although she was careful to moderate her strength so as not to hurt him. While her ice powers were her main strength, she was still far stronger than any average human just like any Sekirei, the gap even wider due to her status as a Single Number Sekirei.
Eventually, he sent the Ice Sekirei off to put some underwear on. She had a bad habit of forgetting to put any on (panties or bra) thanks to the fact she had worn hospital gowns for most of her life before The Experiment. Maybe he'd ask one of the other Sekirei to remind her? Yashima or Kuruse would be ideal, since they tended to be the most responsible. He wouldn't put is past Yahan or Yomi to 'forget' as a prank or something.
Making his way to his original destination, Matsu's computer room, Minato had to restrain a chuckle at the Sekirei of Wisdom kneeling in front of her computer, fingers dancing across the keyboard as streams of data scrolled endlessly down the screen.
As one would expect of a Sekirei though, she had heard him coming and flashed a quick smile at him as he approached her.
"Hi~ Mina-tan." she smiled. "Finished reassuring Akitsu-tan?"
"Have you bugged the entire house, Matsu-chan?" Minato asked with a put-upon sigh.
"Only the public areas, which you have to admit the hallways are." the orange-haired Sekirei pointed out smugly.
Forced to concede that, Minato decided to get a bit of revenge. Kneeling down behind Matsu, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pressed a kiss to the side of her neck, right over her pulse point, making the perverted Sekirei moan and tilt her head invitingly for more.
As he proceeded to pamper the first Single Number to join him, Minato mused to himself that he was certainly a lot more comfortable with women than he was before all of this, as well as a hell of a lot more confident. Before Winging his Sekirei, he would have blushed furiously and gibbered somewhat at the thought of the things he got up to with his wives. Now, he was very much getting used to the idea that he had just under a dozen alien women who loved him and eventually wanted to make babies with him.
The frank looks of lust and desire that even the most demure and quiet of his Sekirei sent at him on a regular basis made it abundantly clear that some of them were tempted to disregard the power they would gain by waiting until their bond with him grew, drag him to bed and not get out of it for a solid day or so. Fortunately, they were all helping each other keep their senses and had agreed the strength to protect their family was more important than an 'early' bit of satisfaction.
Just about the only one who wasn't overtly sending him a 'come hither' look every time she could was Musubi, and that was because she had recently (finally) managed to remain conscious through his mother's lecture regarding 'the birds and the bees' and now flushed bright red every time she looked at him. The fact that she was subconsciously attempting to flirt with him in spite of her embarrassment was somewhat amusing.
"So, anything interesting turned up?" he asked the panting and trembling Matsu as he brought her to the brink of orgasm before stopping short. She whined pleadingly as he let her go, but responded to her Ashikabi's question once she got herself under control.
"U-um...th-the Ashikabi of the South's been patrolling his area of the city much like we have ours." the bespectacled Sekirei replied, silently resolving to have some 'private time' later, once Minato went out, to relieve her frustrations. She was sooo looking forward to getting her wings fully grown so she could rock Minato's world in bed.
"That kid, huh?" Minato remembered the one time he had met Mikogami Hayato. He'd not been impressed by the rich boy. "Are there any Unwinged Sekirei left down there?"
"Most of the ones left have fled to the western, central, and northern areas by now." Matsu shook her head. "I've tracked some of the Sekirei belonging to some of Higa's subordinate Ashikabi making moves on the unofficial border between South and East, so it's probably in response to that."
"This whole Sekirei Plan thing isn't right, making you all fight one another like this." Minato said in frustration, but was surprised to see Matsu shake her head.
"We Sekirei are combative by nature, Mina-tan." she said with a sad smile. "Most of us really do like to fight, to set ourselves above one another to be seen as desirable mates to be taken by our chosen Ashikabi. Even without the Sekirei Plan, there would have been fights regardless. The original plan, the S-Plan, was pretty much allowing us to go free in the Capital under the close watch of MBI to ensure we all stayed where they could keep an eye on us. I can guarantee you that some of us would have come to blows, fighting over our Ashikabi, personality conflicts or any number of petty reasons."
"There's a big difference between fighting out of your own will and fighting because you're being forced to by someone." her Ashikabi pointed out.
"True, but this way is actually a lot less chaotic than the original plan, as painful as it is to admit." Matsu said, a grimace of distaste on her face. "This way is a lot more structured, with clear rules and consequences for stepping out of line. In spite of the fact that we have to fight, the casualties this way are far less than they would be, plus now you've winged Kusano. She can revive Sekirei who have been defeated, wiping their loyalty to their previous Ashikabi away if it was a forced Winging. You are Takami-okaa-san's trump card for if the Sekirei Plan goes pear shaped; Minaka will have to negotiate with you in order to get access to Kusano if that happens."
"Meaning I can possibly stop the Sekirei Plan from kicking off again, or at least managing to reduce the amount of unnecessary fighting in the next one if I negotiate things right." Minato nodded before frowning. "I hope it doesn't come to that point though. If it does, it likely means that a lot of people will have died."
"True." the Sekirei of Wisdom admitted. "We'll have to do all we can to stop that from happening then, Ashikabi-sama~"
She turned around, leaned in and stole a kiss from Minato, her orange wings of energy appearing and fluttering as she did so. She loved the feeling of kissing her Minato-sama, and was looking forward to seeing what it was like to kiss him while he was sheathed within her womanhood.
All good things come to those who wait, right?
After separating from their lip-lock, Matsu and Minato talked for a few more minutes before Minato had to leave to do the grocery shopping. He took Kuruse and Yahan with him for security, with the two being delighted at the 'mini-date' with their Ashikabi.
Sekirei were a far more common sight these days, so all Yahan got for wearing her long sarong, hooded shawl and bikini top were a few odd looks and a couple of turned up noses from older women. Minato made a mental note to see about taking the rest of his Sekirei shopping for casual clothes at some point; most of them only had multiple copies of their combat outfits to wear, such as in Yahan's case.
Not that Minato disliked Yahan's outfit by any means, but he did think that his Sekirei should have the option of what to wear outside of combat. Plus they were rather adorable when they were comparing outfits and squealing about it.
Minato was what some people might call a housebroken male, though he'd object to that kind of objective classification if it was pointed out. The point of the description was someone who didn't object to their significant other (or others in this case) when they went of a shopping trip, and then carried the bags without protest. He also knew how to avoid answering the dreaded 'Does this dress make me look fat?' question, which was more than slightly praiseworthy for a boy his age.
The trip was fairly simple, with him chatting with Kuruse and Yahan about what they were going to have for dinner that night (beef and offal yakiniku) and their preferred side dishes to accompany it. On the way back, they ran into Hikari, Hibiki and Uzume, who had been out all day to visit the mysterious Sekirei Number 1 to confirm that they had indeed gotten strong enough that they could sleep with him without losing the potential to grow stronger.
The hungry, predatory looks that the twins were giving him as they joined them walking home told him that the answer was more than likely 'yes' in that regard. He felt conflicted at that realization. One part of him was somewhat looking forward to it, while the other half was afraid he'd muck things up for his First Sekirei's first times.
A gentle mental nudge from Hikari and Hibiki, along with Yahan and Kuruse hugging his arms, broke him out of the spiral he was in. one of his bad habits was that he tended to dwell on the 'worst-case scenarios' that might happen rather than the good, so his Sekirei had learned to mentally pull him out of such musings before he could get too deep into it.
"Sorry." he said sheepishly.
"You have nothing to be sorry for." Kuruse assured him. "Just talk to us about things that make you depressed, Minato-sama. We're here for you as much as you're there for us when we have problems."
"Thank you, Kuruse-chan, everyone." Minato smiled at his wives gratefully. "Now, let's get back home so I can start preparations for dinner."
Cheered up by the happy expressions of his wives, Minato allowed himself to get led home, focussing more on the preparations for dinner than what he was certain would come tonight.
That Night
Master Bedroom, Sahashi Minato's Residence
"Is everything ready, Nee-san?" Hibiki asked nervously.
"Yup. The brat and her two Sekirei are off visiting Takami-okaa-san, the others are giving us some space and I'm ready to give myself to my Master fully." the older twin replied faux-confidently. In truth, she was just as nervous about this whole situation as her sister, but she wasn't going to back out now! "You?"
"I'm...nervous, but I'm going to keep going on with the plan, Nee-san." Hibiki said determinedly. "We have to stay together."
The Raiden Futago smiled softly at one another. They were twins, 'born' at the same instant almost, and they loved each other more than most would expect. Regardless of the fact that they had to be together to use the greater portion of their powers and even their Norito, they knew each other as well as or better than they did themselves and had gone through everything in life together; they wanted to make sure that losing their virginities was another such thing.
"Together forever." Hikari said softly entwining one hand and with her sister's own.
"Never parting, always as one." her younger twin finished their lifelong promise, lightly squeezing her sister back. "Let's go and knock Minato-sama's socks off."
"Right." the older twin nodded, grateful for her calmer twin's presence. For all her brashness and bluster, Hikari didn't want to mess up tonight for herself, her twin or her beloved Ashikabi. Having Hibiki around to anchor her to what was important was such a relief.
Absently, the twins simultaneously adjusted their nightwear. After meeting Number 1 (and my, wasn't that a shock, to find out that they were living only a few doors down and across the street from the strongest Sekirei in existence) and getting confirmation that they could now safely bed their Ashikabi, they had gone to the best lingerie shop in the North along with Uzume and had bought themselves some very not opaque underwear, in purple and lilac of course. Their breasts were clearly visible and their womanhoods were practically on display. They were actually rather tame compared to the set that Uzume had bought for herself, but they wanted to impress their Ashikabi, not make him faint from a nosebleed.
At least not before he ravished them anyway.
The sound of their Ashikabi's steps coming up the stairs made them panic for a moment before they forced calm on themselves and assumed the positions they had decided to go with for tonight, so when Minato opened the door and stepped in, he stopped dead and stared at the sight of Hikari and Hibiki, dressed in provocative and sexy lingerie, kneeling on the bed, arms wrapped around one another and sending him a smouldering pair of looks that sent a burst of adrenaline and arousal through his body.
"Minato-sama..." Hibiki said softly. "We're here to give ourselves to you fully."
"Please...?" Hikari added, pouting at him.
"I think I'd be stupid to turn you down, girls." Minato said shakily with a gulp. "How...long have you been planning this, may I ask?"
"Only since we found out we'd be forced to wait." Hibiki replied as she detached herself from her sister, stood up from the bed and sashayed sexily over to her Ashikabi, wrapping her arms around his neck and then kissing him full on the lips, while Hikari also stood up and used the distraction to move around and hug their Ashikabi from behind, pressing her impressive bust into his back.
As Hibiki's wings faded, she parted her lips from Minato's and, with the skill of practised dancers, the twins swapped places; Hikari dragging Minato into a kiss of her own, subtly making him advance forwards towards the bed. The twins knew their Ashikabi fairly well by this point, and so recognized that if he had time to overthink the situation, he'd panic and make things awkward for himself, so they had decided to not give him any chance to think about what was happening, just react.
'And if what I'm feeling against my stomach is any indication, he's definitely reacting.' Hikari purred mentally. Easing him back, Hikari grinned as she felt the bed touching her legs and allowed herself to fall backwards onto the bed, dragging Minato down with her and then wrapping her legs around his waist as Hibiki let him go and then crawled onto the bed and cuddling into the side of her sister and Ashikabi.
"Are you both sure?" Minato asked softly as he felt thrums of arousal and desire throughout his body.
"Take us...please!" Hikari begged as she thrust her hips up in both an inviting and desperate manner. "Make us your wives in truth!"
"Please, Minato-sama...we can't take it much longer!" Hibiki added pleadingly.
Well, with that kind of begging, he wouldn't be a man if he turned them down, would he?
"Alright." he said softly and proceeded to kiss both of them thoroughly, their purple and lilac wings shining bright in the darkness of the room. Scrabbling hands from the frantic and frustrated Sekirei reached for his short and their own tops urgently.
'Finally!' the twins thought in unison as the discarded clothes landed on the ground and the night could truly start.

Gasping from the effort he had put in for the past few hours, Minato fell back onto the bed, swiftly joined by his two happy and satiated Sekirei. Sweat glistened on their naked bodies and both Hikari and Hibiki had an air of utter contentment about them as they crawled over to lie on either side of their Ashikabi.
"That...was both the most amazing thing I have ever done...as well as the most exhausting." the raven-haired boy remarked once he had his breath back.
"We Sekirei do have a lot of physical stamina, Minato-sama..." Hibiki giggled. "...whether it is for fighting or lovemaking."
"...there is no way I'll be able to handle more than two Sekirei per night with my stamina." Minato shook his head. He wasn't out of shape, really, but he wasn't exactly in tip-top condition either. The fact that he had been able to satisfy Hikari and Hibiki in the first place could be attributed to their own inexperience and luck on his part.
"Practice makes perfect, Minato-sama." Hikari murmured as tiredness started to draw upon her. "For now, let's get some sleep. We have to be ready for tomorrow. It's your first day of classes, after all."
"Kami, so it is." Minato groaned. He'd forgotten about classes completely!
"Rest easy, Minato-sama. We're with you." Hibiki said with a smile as she snuggled in to his side. "Sleep, and let tomorrow take care of itself."
Sighing in agreement, the Ashikabi of the North closed his eyes and allowed is exhaustion to carry him off to sleep, with his First Sekirei following suit minutes later. On the backs of Hikari and Hibiki, their Sekirei Crests glowed right in the darkness as on each, their numbers appeared boldly in the centre of the one-winged bird.
Throughout the rest of the house at the same time, the rest of Minato's Sekirei settled down from their rather racy dreams and back into sleep, although more than a few would be deeply embarrassed by the state of the sheets caused by the nature of their dreams.
