Haddock Household
Hiccup slammed his head on his computer desk carefully avoiding his keyboard as Astrid, Ruff, and Fishlegs argued about how they should perform for their group project. Toothless lifted his head from the floor whining with concern for his owner's wellbeing as the fight continued. This all started when Fishlegs suggested that the scene should be taking place on a Viking ship, Ruff started to complain though the moment he had suggested it and that it was too boring. The argument continued for what seemed like forever before Astrid joined in and said it should be done on land so it'd be easier for everyone. An so the argument went for a good 20 minutes. Hiccup had final had enough as he whipped around to face them, "Guys! Focus! Let's just have the fight happen in an arena! So that way we have it on land, we have a Viking rite of passage theme going, and it will be epic/unboring. Ok?!" Hiccup snapped loudly with a very annoyed expression as thy all stared at him, surprised at his sudden outburst. Even Toothless got startled and slumped over to hide under the table they all sat at.
Hiccup quickly realized that he had lost his temper and took a deep breath, "Sorry guys but I have not had much sleep lately and quite frankly we still haven't even started this project. It's due in a month guys, almost a week before the singing competitions over and we still need to film, edit, and compose. So I am feeling a bit overwhelmed here." Hiccup finished up as he laid back in his computer chair and slowly turning away from them. Ruff and Astrid looked at each other feeling sympathetic for Hiccup knowing the weight that was on his shoulders. Fishlegs, however, looked at him with a small smile. "You don't need to worry about the singing competition Hiccup, you've got it in the bag. No way can anyone beat you, the one the one and only Nighfury." Fish summed up as he went back to searching for weapon props on his laptop.
The room fell completely silent as Hiccup, Ruff, and Astrid stared at Fishlegs with looks of horror written on their faces. Astrid slowly points to Fishlegs trying to find her voice while Ruff looks at Hiccup to see if he even knew. Hiccup was only silent as he slowly turned around to face Fishlegs. "How… how does he know that?... maybe the better question is when did he find out?..." Hiccup's mind swirled with questions as he tried to find his voice. Once he did hiccup's voice could only come out in a whisper. "What… what are you talking about Fish? Hehe… I'm not the Nightfury. Psh I only compose music remember? Hahaha…." Hiccup starts to turn away again before Fishlegs speaks up.
"Hiccup I am not stupid, it's obvious if people paid more attention to the details. You height and body frame is the same as Nightfury, even with that leather armor on, the day Nightfury was injured was the same day you fought Snotlout and got injured, and the last one was the fact that you slipped up when you mentioned the singing competition as one of your concerns." Fishlegs sums up as he faces Hiccup with a rather smug smile. "You need to do a better job covering up if you don't want people like me finding stuff like this out." Hiccup could only stare at him for a while before a smile broke out over his face and gave a hearty laugh. "Got to hand it to you Fish, you really are observant. I must ask you though to keep it a secret, especially from my dad." Fishlegs nodded his head before looking at his screen again. Astrid and Ruff recovered from their stupor before trying to say something.
"What… that's it? No epic drama? No no emotion or surprise? Just yah ok?" Astrid stammers out at the boy's simplicity. Hiccup and Fish looks at her with confused expressions. "Well yah, I mean if he knew then he knew. It wasn't as shocking like it was when you found out about it." Hiccup said as he faced his computer and began designing costumes. Ruff only laughed at Hiccup's simplistic response before getting punched in the arm by Astrid who was trying to fight down her growing anger at his response. "So what should Astrid and I do in the meantime while you two geeks do computer stuff?" Ruff asks rubbing her now bruised arm. Hiccup leaned back thinking for a moment before glancing over to them. "Why not pick a weapon so we can narrow down the search and start coming up with who would win and lose for the video?" Hiccup suggested as he went back to his graphic design program. Groaning in annoyance they left Hiccups room and headed for the kitchen followed by Toothless, hoping that he'd get some treats from the two blondes.
The kitchen was rather large with marble flooring and maple cabinets. It had one giant glass window facing the open yard and allowing the setting sun to fill the kitchen in blinding light. "Who decides to have their kitchen filled with so much light from the stupid sun?" Ruff complained as she made her way over to the stainless steel fridge. "I don't know but it gives a nice view of the sunsets. Anyways what weapons should we have?" Astrid asks as she sits facing away from the glaring sunset, Ruff comes back with two cokes and some cake as she sits across from her. "Well I don't know about you, but I'd love to wield a hatchet or maybe even a mace! They cause so much pain!" Ruffnut says with a smile as she motions whacking someone in the side of a head. Astrid could only chuckle as she imagines Ruff in Viking attire whacking someone for the fun of it.
She begins to thinks on what she'd envision herself wielding for a weapon back in the age of Vikings, faintly hearing Ruff's enthusiasm she began drinking from her soda as she ran a checklist in her head on weapons she could wield. "I could always go with a sword, they were very common and great for hacking off limbs… nah. They were too common and people will be expecting those." Astrid takes another sip as Ruff talks about… sometime she did something with her brother or rather Astrid didn't really care. "A mace or even spears are out of the question. Mace is to top heavy and a spear would break under a maces blow… I need something that is unusual, something that is balanced and not to long something like…" Astrid's thinking was cut short as Ruff slams her can down on the kitchen table like a Viking would do as she burps. "Man that was a good coke. Want to head upstairs to see how the boys are doing?"
Astrid shrugs with a smile saying sure as she downs the rest of her coke and slips Toothless the rest of her cake, much to his delight. Heading upstairs Astrid tossed the can into the recycling bin as she passed. As they entered back into Hiccup's room Astrid couldn't help but remembering her first time coming into his room. The white walls were filled with his sketches of dragons and possible inventions. His computer desk, were he currently sat at, looked like that of a sci-fi command station. Three separate monitors set up attached to the main monitor, the black wooden desk curving around so he could reach everything he needs. His queen size bed was pressed up against the far side of the wall next to his window. The center of the room had a small round table with four bean bag chairs surrounding it. Astrid was brought out of her reminencing when Toothless pushed on by her legs. She smiled a small one that went unnoticed as she walked over to Hiccup.
"How's our costumes so far?" Astrid asks as she leans over to take look at his job. Hiccup gave a small surprised jump but instantly relaxed when he saw who it was. "It's not done yet but here is yours so far." Hiccup brought up the image and moved over so she could see it better. There on the screen was her in what looked to be red bindings with spiked shoulder pads and a spiked armor skirt. Her hair braided and hung down one side showing the furry hood that rested on her back. Astrid was shocked at how beautiful the appearance was and mentally envisioned herself wielding the weapon she decided on earlier. She slowly smiled as she looked at Hiccup. "It's amazing… but I think she'd look even more amazing with an axe in her hands."
