I HONESTLY DON'T KNOW WHEN I'M GOING TO BE ABLE TO UPDATE AGAIN AS I AM STARTING WORK AND COURSE AGAIN NEXT WEEK SO THAT WILL BE TAKING UP A LOT OF MY TIME. PLEASE REVIEW AND TELL ME WHAT YOU THINK

Arriving at the venue Jane helped me out of the car, before I was overwhelmed with the amount of people, all of them adults. So the first thing I did was wrap my arms around Jane's leg and when she looked down, she tapped my head before I looked up at her and begged for her to pick me up.

"Come here baby" she said picking me up and holding me close. Maura walked around the car to our side and she placed a hand on my back

"Is she alright?" Maura asked concerned

"Yeah just a little shy. It is a lot of people for her" Jane reasoned and Maura nodded in understanding placing a kiss to my cheek.

"You'll be alright Kelsi, mama and I won't leave your side. You'll have one of us with you at all times" she said and I nodded, still keeping my head on Jane's shoulder.

We made our way into the building and we were greeted by grandma and grandpa both making their way towards us. Grandma instantly opened her arms for a cuddle and I gave her a one armed hug not wanting to let go of Jane.

"Bonjour Kelsi, how are you darling?" she asked as soon as she placed a kiss to my cheek and I smiled a little

"I'm good grandma, how are you?" I asked and she smiled

"I am wonderful darling. Now Maura, Jane feel free to mingle and don't forget about Kelsi, she needs to mingle as well" grandma said and I looked at Jane who had a sour look on her face

"Well of course she does, but she also needs to mingle with children her own age. Being great with adults isn't the only thing she needs to know, she needs to know how to be among her peers as well" Jane whined and I nodded slightly.

"I know Jane, but please stop stressing out so much, mother only means well and you know it" Maura said and Jane sighed

"I know I just always feel a little uncomfortable at these events" she said and Maura nodded

"I know babe and trust me I still get a little uncomfortable too and I've been going to them since I was one and a half years old" Maura said and I looked between the two, both of them looking at me before saying

"Why don't we go and see some of the art work that grandma has out on display huh?" Maura suggested and I nodded a little.

It was a little later in the evening, Jane had put me down on the ground about an hour ago, as her arms were starting to get heavy and she had promised Maura a couple of dances. But that meant that I was now sitting at one of the tables all alone. I watched my mother's out on the dance floor and smiled at the love that shone between the two of them, it was clear that these two loved deeply, and I was glad that their love had extended to invite me into their love.

"Kelsi, would you like to dance with me?" I turned and saw grandpa behind me his hands extended and I nodded. Making my way over to the dance floor with my hands held in his, feet atop his as he danced around the dance floor. There were a couple of times when we had to pause because I had slipped off his shoes but it was a little while later when the dance finished that we bowed and I felt a tap on my shoulder. Turning around I saw a boy just a little older than me and he smiled proudly

"May I have this dance, mademoiselle?" he asked and I nodded. His hand slipped into mine while the other slipped around my back, pulling me close as we danced to the music. After making sure that my feet were doing the opposite of his, I looked up at him truly for the first time.

"My name is Nicholas Greer, my father is one of you're grandmothers associates. She's been raving about her new granddaughter for a long time and when she pointed you out to me I couldn't resist"

"Kelsi" I said and he nodded,

"I know" he said extending his arm for me to spin, before he replaced his hand on my back.

"How old are you Kelsi?" he asked after a pause

"I'm eight years old, almost nine. You?" I asked and he smiled

"Just turned ten" he said charmingly and I smiled. I could get used to spending time with Nicholas, he was a charming person and truly the first person my age I meet (that wasn't TJ) who made me feel truly normal for once.

I spent the remainder of the night with Nicholas, getting to know him better and even meeting his parents. Grandma even came over to check up on me at one point saying that Maura and Jane were eager to go home, but if I wanted to stay then I could go home with her and grandpa. I thought about it, I wasn't really ready for my first sleep over not just yet. So I said goodbye to Nicholas and made my way over to where Maura and Jane were waiting for me by the front door. Jane picked me up and gave me a kiss before we all said goodbye to Grandma and I began to lose some of the energy that had been flowing since meeting Nicholas three hours ago.

"So I see you met Nicholas Greer and his parents" Maura stated and I nodded, as we made our way out of the building, Jane still carrying me

"So what did you think?" she asked and I looked at her confused before looking to Jane who looked just as confused

"I mean the Greer's are an incredibly powerful family in Manhattan. Did you think they were charming?" she asked and I nodded

"Quite" I answered and she smiled

"You've made a good friend Kels" she said and I beamed, feeling proud that I had made a friend but a friend that Maura seemed to approve of. Jane cleared her throat and both Maura and I looked at her

"What is it Jane?" Maura asked and Jane looked from Maura down to me before saying

"I'm proud of you Kels, I truly am, he's a friend, the first you've made that isn't family. But I don't think that you should be worried about the type of people you become friends with. As long as they make you happy and don't hurt your feelings then Maura and I will be happy ok. I just don't want you to feel pressured into being friends with someone because of your mum and me" she said and I nodded. I understood what she meant and knew that there would probably be a discussion between Maura and Jane when I was asleep, especially after the look that Jane just sent Maura's way.

When we got home, I headed up to my room and into the bathroom to shower before getting into my pjs and heading back downstairs to say goodnight to Maura and Jane. They gave me a hug and a kiss before letting me leave the room. That night as I lay trying to fall asleep I thought of all the friends that I'd had throughout my life, TJ and Nicholas were the truest friends I'd ever had.
