As we walked through the corridor on our way to breakfast, Jareth grabbed my hand and pulled me into a room, shutting the door behind us. The room looked to be a study that had not been used in years. It looked like the perfect place not to be found. As I thought this he started to speak.
"Sarah, they may try to make you feel out of place and like a weak human but you must stay strong. If they think you are unworthy to be with me. I would not be able to bare it if we had to part"
I had been worried all week about our visit to the High Palace. The High King and Queen, also known as Jareths parents, had heard that the Goblin King was courting a fine young lady and wished to meet her. He had been comforting me and assuring me that it would be a quick visit all week but in the past day he has been fussing over my appearance and reminding me of my manners. I knew how important this was to him and our future. "I could not take that either. I will try my best to be ladylike but I am neither as graceful nor as beautiful as the Fae that your parents would expect."
"You may not be light on your feet but you are more beautiful than any girl I have ever laid my eyes on, including my mother," he said that last part with a chuckle. He then placed a light kiss on my lips before he said "Are you ready to go my love?"
As ready as I'll ever be" and with that he opened the door to let me out and we continued down the corridor with his fingers laced in mine.
