12. Subtly ask if there, hypothetically, would be a rule against students using a lucky potion before writing any tests. 13. Call any form of test or exam an OWL or NEWT 14. Subtly ask if there, hypothetically, would be a rule against students using invisibility cloaks to see exams as teachers are making them up 15. Assume that there is a class to take care of ordinary creatures
16. Assume that there is a class on Ancient Runes, as technically Muggles are allowed to see them
There was still meant to be other classes after lunch, Elizabeth noticed three on the schedule she was given by the lady at the front desk when she first arrived. "Recess" was next, but Elizabeth wasn't sure what it meant really. Then there was maths coming up. Thankfully her mum and dad had explained to her that this word was just the muggle word for something they taught her and her brother growing up, it was just numbers and equations. Before they explained it, Elizabeth never thought of it as a subject to be taught in school on its own. Maybe she would have subconsciously, vaguely, assumed that at Hogwarts this "maths" would perhaps just be vaguely tied to some other, grander subject. But, she supposed, the muggles were more limited in their ability. Of course they would make a subject to teach out of anything they could get their hands on.
After that the last two classes were English and science, she had already had arts, PE, and history. Tomorrow's schedule was sure to be more enticing, Elizabeth couldn't wait to see what ordinary creatures her new school kept and what mysterious runes they were meant to unravel.
When a lull cropped up, Elizabeth saw her opportunity. "I hope the weather is nice tomorrow. I'd love to see some horses, or just some dogs or anything really. Beats indoor classes or PE."
"Oh that'd be great, does your family own horses or something?" Erica asked, eyes round underneath her hair as she sipped from a juice box.
"Oh, um, no, I just thought…" Elizabeth had grown wise to voicing all of her assumptions. It looked as if there would be no bonding with animals, sadly.
Elizabeth harrumphed.
Muggles really didn't know anything at all, did they? Actually… muggles didn't know anything at all! Brilliant.
"It would be grand if there were magic invisibility cloaks to wear and see all the answers on OWLs or NEWTS, and to take lucky potions for tests since… no one would know, right? There wouldn't technically be any rules against it, since those things don't exist…" Elizabeth laughed quietly, trailing off.
"I would use an invisibility cloak so I could go back stage at Red Hot Chili Peppers." Lucy tittered.
"I would use it to see my own funeral."
"I would sneak into an rated R movie!"
"Wait, did you say something about… owls and newts…?"
Well, Elizabeth wished she had an invisibility cloak right about now.
"Nothing!"
