Chapter 49-Day Twenty-one, Part 2

"Are you ready?" Elsa asked. She stood in the middle of the ice amusement park atop a small snowflake-shaped platform. Elsa had made a 'master control panel' so she could control all of the rides at once by herself. Sure, it wouldn't work for anyone except Elsa herself, but that was okay. This is almost like a larger version of when we went ice-skating in the courtyard right after the Great Thaw…we have to do that again later! And this time I'm not nervous, either. Mostly just excited…

Standing right at her sister's side, Anna suddenly jumped in, "Wait! Before my sister starts up all of the ice-entertainment she's made, we have a special…surprise for you. And….a one, and a two…"

Elsa's cheeks turned pink with embarrassment as she realized just what Anna was up to. I was hoping Anna forgot about that song she wanted us to sing together… But no such luck. "Anna, you can just sing by yourself, okay?" she whispered.

"Nuh-uh! You're going to sing with me! Come on, it'll be fun! Besides, you have to. We still have our bet, remember?" Without waiting for a reply, Anna pulled out her CD player and turned that song on.

Elsa sighed. I'm in public. At the festival. That I haven't attended since I was eight. And I'm singing a stupid song. With Anna. Terrific. Then she smiled a bit and shrugged. So what if this was completely ridiculous and crazy? That was pretty normal for events in Arendelle in the almost two months since the Great Thaw. And for Elsa herself. Political plots, storm predictions, discovering a whole new world outside Arendelle, helping defeat three criminals with superpowers…definitely ridiculous and crazy. Who cares what anyone thinks? Bring Anna's ready to go song on! I am ready to go. Elsa smiled and raised her own voice along with her sister's right in sync with the music.

'It's a crack I'm back yeah standing

On the rooftops shout it out

Baby I'm ready to go…

I'm back and ready to go!...'

By the end of the song, Elsa realized a lot of the people were singing the chorus right with her and Anna. No one thinks we were just being completely and utterly…I don't know…vacuous for doing that. Elsa, why did you just think a word like 'vacuous' to yourself? "Because I can, that's why," she said to herself. She smiled happily at the now-clapping crowd and waved.

"See, that wasn't so bad, was it?" Anna teased.

"It was…an experience," Elsa said vaguely, refusing to give her little sister the satisfaction that yes, Elsa had enjoyed herself singing that song. What Elsa didn't realize was that her happy smile had already informed Anna what Elsa thought of doing that.

Anna grinned as she watched Elsa carefully set her rides into motion. "How are you doing that?" she asked.

"It's kind of…complicated…the rides set the safety measures on their own when they're filled with people, and then they 'tell' me so here." Elsa pointed to her 'master control panel' that stood at waist-height in front of her. "They glow blue when they're safe to set in motion. Then I set the ride in motion by touching its snowflake on the panel. They end on their own and start blinking, and then I have to touch the snowflake again to start the process over again. And no, before you ask, it will not work for you. It'll only react to my touch," Elsa explained. "This way no one can tamper with it when I'm not here." As long as I stay calm, this is perfectly safe. If I get the slightest bit disturbed… "Anna, if I get nervous or upset for some reason, you are to get me away from here no matter what. I will not risk everyone's safety for some quick thrills."

Anna frowned, but she quickly agreed. "You aren't gonna get all nervous and upset, Elsa. You're loads better than you used to be-you hardly ever do that anymore. I know this is kind of large-scale control, but I also know you can do it." She gave Elsa's shoulder a reassuring squeeze.

Sure…I can do it easily as long as I stay happy. Well, I'll just have to stay happy then. Elsa smiled and quickly tapped the two snowflakes glowing blue on the control panel. "Thank you, Anna."

"You're welcome." Anna paused for a moment before asking, "Can I please just pretend to run your ice-rides? I want to make them go myself!"

Elsa laughed and took Anna's hand in her own left one. "Here, you little stinker. You can make me start up the swinging ship pendulum ride." She guided Anna's fingers to the correct snowflake and tapped it herself along with Anna. "Are you happy now?" I wish Anna could do that with me. That would be amazing!

"Yeah. Thanks, Elsa!" Anna clapped her hands in delight as she watched the rides running smoothly below them. "I still want to ride everything you made myself. Can I, Elsa? Please?"

"Why are you asking me that? Of course it's okay! Go have fun, Anna. Really." Elsa gave her sister a little push toward the stairs leading down from the platform they were standing on. This day hasn't been and will not be a bust. I know it won't. Anna is happy, and so am I.

Anna hesitated. "You're positive?"

Elsa nodded in assent. "Absolutely positive. Go on! I'll be here running everything when you come back." She quickly sent the ice-Dragster ride off, and grinned when the train launched. "Go ride Ice Dragster and come back, Anna!"

"Don't wanna ride that without you…"

"Then go ride whatever you do want to ride. I'm happy here. Look, Anna…I made all this and people are enjoying it. I'm very, very happy my powers are making the people of Arendelle happy at the festival. Actually, wait one moment…" Elsa hugged Anna tightly…or else as tight as she could with her one good arm at the moment. "Okay, now go have fun." Elsa turned to her icy snowflake control panel, determined that Anna should go have fun, not stand up here next to her and do nothing all afternoon.

Anna paused for a minute, watching her sister run her multiple creations at once. Elsa's happy expression told Anna that Elsa was perfectly content where she was, but Anna still wanted to spend the rest of the afternoon with Elsa. And yet Anna knew she would not get to ride any of her sister's ice-rides if she didn't just go do it on her own. I'll come back every few minutes to check on Elsa, she decided.

Elsa contentedly tapped the blue snowflakes, running her icy festival entertainment without a hitch, for a long while. Several times she spotted Anna running from one ride to another and waved. I can't believe this is actually working so perfectly! After all the…escapades that happened in the last couple weeks, the festival is actually happening and nothing is going wrong. Just then, Anna ran up behind her, and she jumped, accidentally tapping the wrong snowflake. Elsa stood stock still as the small roller coaster for the children she'd made sent off another train too soon. "Anna, MOVE! I have to get over there, now!" Elsa pushed Anna out of the way and ran down the steps as fast as she could go.

I could have stopped the ride from the control panel. Stupid me. Wait a minute, I can still do that! Elsa did an about-face and hightailed it back up the stairs. Without another thought, she quickly shut the kiddie ride down entirely. Safe. Sure, there were still people on it, but she could easily reset the ride on its own, and everything would be fine again. "I'm sorry I pushed you, Anna. Just let me go fix-" Elsa suddenly realized Anna was nowhere to be seen. Where was she?

Anna popped up from behind the other side of the control panel, and Elsa stepped backwards, nearly falling down the stairs. As it was, Elsa still fell, but merely landed on her backside, still on the platform. "Anna…that was not funny," Elsa said firmly.

Anna quickly helped Elsa to her feet. "I'm sorry. I just wanted to…tease you? Yeah. That's all…are you ok? You didn't land on your arm, did you?"

"No, I'm fine…you just startled me. I have to go reset the one ride for the children, Anna. I'll be right back." Elsa ran off, and Anna plopped down at the top of the steps to wait for Elsa to come back.

Elsa ran back up the steps a few minutes later and quickly started up all of the rides, tapping on all of the glowing blue snowflakes. "Everything's all right now, Anna. Nobody was hurt, thank goodness." She grinned as she watched a train plummet down the drop on her ice version of Top Thrill Dragster. I still want to ride that with Anna…

"Anna? I'm going to take a short break. Come on."

Anna frowned as Elsa pulled her towards that 'Ice Dragster'. She had genuinely wanted to ride it with Elsa before, but now that she was about to, she was nervous all over again. But she had no intentions of telling Elsa that, not after Elsa had specifically taken the trouble to make that ride so she could ride something like Top Thrill Dragster since she'd skipped it when the two of them visited Cedar Point. That seems like forever ago. And Elsa didn't have a broken arm then either. I know she's going to be fine, but I want her to be all healed now! "Elsa, you should ask Rapunzel to come visit so she can heal your arm," Anna said suddenly.

Elsa shrugged. "I'm not inviting her here just for that. That's rude. Plus she said her magic disappeared when her hair turned brown, remember? I'd still like to have her come visit though. Come on, let's go ride my Ice Dragster." She glanced down at her arm, wondering if Anna's idea could possibly have any merit. My arm isn't going to be healed for another month or so. And then it'll take awhile after that for it to be completely back to normal…I'm tired of it already. Maybe Anna's idea is a good one? I don't know. I'm not going to worry about it. Elsa smiled as the entire line of people moved aside for her and Anna to go through. This time, just this once, she took advantage of the privilege. "Thank you, everyone," she announced loudly.

When the next train rolled into the station, Elsa quickly plopped herself down in the front seat and pulled Anna down next to her. "Are you ready?" Elsa asked happily.

"Yes, 'cause I'm sitting next to you," Anna replied. She frowned as the ice lap bar safety restraints automatically clicked into place. "You sure this is going to work?"

Elsa nodded vigorously. "Positive. They're foolproof. I promise they won't fail." Elsa settled herself back in her seat as the train rolled out into the launch area. This is perfect. Absolutely perfect.

Anna rolled her eyes at her sister's utter nonchalant disposition paired with the slightest hint of visible excitement. "We're about to fly at over a hundred miles an hour and you're just sitting there like it's nothing," she teased.

"Who said it's nothing?" Elsa blue eyes sparkled with anticipation as she carefully launched the ride herself. The second the train began tearing down the icy track, she let out a rather unqueenly squeal and probably would have clapped her hands if she physically could have. I'm riding something I made. With Anna. At the festival. I'm perfectly happy and EXCITED!

On top of the world a few seconds later, Elsa grabbed Anna's hand and purposely stalled the train at the top. "Anna, isn't this just perfect?!" she asked breathlessly.

Anna just blinked for a moment, suddenly realizing her crazy sister had stopped them 420 feet in the air. Elsa is crazy. She's so at home way up here. No wonder she loves the North Mountain so much. She likes feeling like she's on top of the world. "You know what? It is perfect. It really is. I love you, Elsa. You are so crazy sometimes, but you're awesome."

"I feel invincible up here with you," Elsa whispered. "Like I'm on top of the world and nothing can touch me. I can't lose you; I can't be hurt; I can't get out of control…just…invincible. Everything is just absolutely perfect." I'm so happy right now.

Anna considered pointing out that technically Elsa was hurt right this second because she had a broken arm, but immediately decided not to because it would ruin the moment and Elsa was obviously utterly content and happy. Besides, hearing Elsa say she feels invincible is so nice. She deserves to feel like that about herself.

"Well, I suppose I should let us go plummeting back down now," Elsa said. "There are other people waiting to ride, you know." I could stay up here forever though. I love it up here!

"Elsa, wait, I'm not rea-"

Too late. Elsa let the train go, and she stuck her left hand up, still holding Anna's right hand. I am Snow Queen Elsa of Arendelle. She loves doing things with her sister. She's not invincible alone, but with her sister, she is.

She is me. And I am completely happy with who I am now.

The two girls' clasped hands stayed clasped together tightly as the train flew down that drop.

Elsa closed her eyes, completely, utterly happy.

Okay, she might have been also filled with adrenaline flying at 120 miles an hour. But whatever.

Elsa still felt as if she were floating on top of the world as the train slowed to a stop automatically. "Anna…thank you for being my sister," she said simply. "You helped me pull the whole festival off, actually…"

"You're welcome. And thank YOU for being my sister!" Anna reached over and gave Elsa a hug.

"We're invincible together!" both of them exclaimed simultaneously.

"Stinker," said Anna.

"Copycat," said Elsa.

"That's nice," came the simultaneous reaction again.

Elsa just started giggling. Whatever happens after today, we'll be able to handle it together.

I just know it.

The end.:)

For now...;)
