Percy POV:
Lunch had gone well, no one had suspected anything besides what I had said, that my Headmaster wanted to meet with me to make sure I was fitting in well.
We were waiting outside the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom when someone I had thought I'd never see showed up. Her name was Dolores Umbridge.
You see, Dolores, I'm sorry, Professor Umbridge wasn't always a witch. She was originally a daughter of Eris, but the man who loved her made a deal with Nemesis. Nemesis would grant him a way to make Eris fall in love with him, under the condition that she would get the offspring. However Nemesis had a debt to pay off with Hecate. When Nemesis was given
Delores, Hecate was very upset that she was being granted Delores when she still hadn't paid her back. So she challenged Nemesis to a battle over her and won. Hecate took Delores and had her raised as a witch. Delores was raised in a wizarding family with no knowledge of this but since she was conceived under false love she could never truly have a chance with anyone. She turned to work and power since she could never love anyone fully. Anyways, she didn't know me, but I certainly knew of her. I was interrupted from my thoughts by her girlish voice.
"Welcome children, to Defence Against The Dark Arts, level 5. Please take your seats." she simpered. I took my seat while very quickly realizing I wasn't going to get along with this person at all. "Hem hem," she, said, waiting for everyone's attention, slowly everyone turned to her, she smiled. Let me be the first to say smiles don't look good on her.
"Ordinary Wizarding Level, examinations, or O.W.L.s. These are what you will be studying for this school year. Wands away children and please take out your copy of Defensive Magical Theory." she said. as we took out our books and waited for further instruction Professor Umbridge spelled some words onto the board. When she was finished she turned and spoke "Please copy this down now children."
I, who couldn't read it as it was in English, and fancy cursive script that was murder on my eyes didn't even bother. Luckily she didn't seem to notice. Hermione however caught my eye, she was staring at the Dumbridge with her hand straight up in the air. Hermione was not one who would strike me as a person who would not follow a teacher's' instructions. She must have a pretty good reason to be staring at Dumbridge with such intensity.
Delores tried to ignore her but eventually, I guess after enough people were staring at her, she had to address it.
"Is there something I can help you with miss,"
"Granger professor, and yes there is, there is nothing written on the board about using defensive spells, don't you think we'd need to know how to use them?" She asked. That made me upset. She wasn't teaching us defensive spells in Defence Against the Dark Arts? Before I got the chance to say anything Delores decided to answer.
"Miss Granger, when in the world would you need to use defensive spells?" She asked with a giggle.
"Maybe in the real world." I found myself saying."The world outside of school" Delores narrowed her eyes. "Mister Jackson, I know that you are new here, but you will soon learn that-"
"I don't need to 'learn' anything" I said, mimicking her. "I already know that you are here to spy on Harry Potter, and get Dumbledore kicked out of office, I know the only reason you are this cruel to people that are not with the ministry is because the man that you loved, that would not love you back was against the ministry" by this point she was staring at me with wide eyes, listening to my cold tone. At this point I got up from my desk and walked up to her until I was standing inside her flight circle, as I had learned, to intimidate someone. I looked down at her as she looked up at me, fear quickly filling her eyes. "And Delores," I breathed" I know so much more about you than you yourself don't know about your life." I finished. I glared at her once more before returning to my seat. "Well, get on with it, won't you?" I said leaning back in my chair after I noticed she hadn't moved.
She broke out of her trance, looked at me fearfully, and then addressed the class. "I want two feet of parchment, due next class, on why you shouldn't question officials. Dismissed" with that she practically ran into her office and locked the door.
I can honestly say that I was the first person out of that class. The rest of the room seemed surprised at how easily I broke her. Harry ran to catch up with me. "Dude that was wicked!" He said, with some level of reverence in his voice. I grinned. It was pretty cool wasn't it? I mused "How did you do that? It was like you had an, aura around you!" Harry exclaimed.
I stopped grinning at that.
"What?" I questioned, really surprised that he would come to that assumption.
"Well, you had this, this feeling around you, like you had a power. It made me think of water, and the beach for some reason.." Harry explained confusedly. That surprised me for some reason. I wasn't used to people not being used to me.
"Huh. I don't know why," I said. I need Annabeth here! She can lie! I thought. "Maybe the smell came from the kitchens." I suggested. Harry seemed to believe this. By this point most of the class had caught up with me, offering their praise of breaking the evil demon.
"Man, that was wicked!" A boy I later learned was named Ernie MacMillan said "At first I thought you were weird, but wow, if you're able break Umbridge that easily, how can I not love you!" He gushed. I laughed.
"Thanks, I didn't realize I was so heroic!" I said.
"Now what do we do?" Asked another girl.
"I don't know about you but I wouldn't mind exploring, I don't know anything about this place! Who wants to join me?! I cheered. They all cheered back, even Hermione, the biggest rule follower I'd ever met.
"We should start at the top and work our way down," Hermione said. Surprisingly, no one argued with her, and we made our way to the top of the school to start our adventure.
