Brady groaned when Jackson shifted again, the four year old ignoring his wake up calls in order to sleep more, he sighed and put his hands on his hips.
"Jackie, if you don't wake up your aunt Mary won't get to play with you." Brady sang, smiling when his son's bleary eyes opened slightly. His son finally untangled himself from his bedsheets and embraced his father in a hug.
"Mornin' daddy." his son grumbled and smiled up at Brady. "Good morning' sweetheart. Now, go take a shower, you stink." He playfully wrinkled his nose, and ruffled Jackson's hair who in turn, ran for the bathroom.
"Pancakes are done!" He heard Alice shout from the kitchen. Brady excitedly made his way downstairs and into the kitchen, where Alice was piling Pancakes onto multiple rainbow colored plates.
"Jackie's awake." He informed her, opening the fridge and taking out the milk. "Oh good." Alice said, brushing a strand of hair behind her ear. She sat down on her chair and turned to Emma.
"Emma, honey, are you okay?" At her question, Brady turned to face his daughter only to see her organising her morning fruit into sizes from small to big, nonresponding. "Her OCD must be acting up again, she'll be fine." He suggested, quietly burying his concern in hopes of calming his wife.
"I'm worried it's getting worse. I mean, last night she was organising her paint into the order of the color wheel and freaked when Jackie just did whatever. Should we take her to the doctor?" She turned from him to her and brushed Emma's hair with her fingers. Brady hesitated, on the one hand it could be nothing but on the other. Besides what could the doctor do that they hadn't already done?
"Tell you what-" He sat down "Lets wait and see if she gets better, and if not then well take her. This way we won't freak anyone out." He thought about the first time they had taken one of the kids to the hospital, just to come home and find nearly half the town had called with concerns. Alice nodded and faced Emma who started to eat her fruit.
"Yeah, you're right, I might be exaggerating." she smiled and reached for her coffee, Brady doing the same.
"I'm here! Your lives just got better!" Mary came strutting into the kitchen, freaking Brady out until he remembered Alice had given her a key.
"Hey! Just in time for breakfast." Greeted Alice, accepting the hug Mary leaned down to give her.
"Hey sis." said Mary.
"I thought the key was for emergencies?" Joked Brady, accepting the punch in his arm with a laugh.
"Screw you, Parker." She laughed.
"Aunt Mary!" An excited voice came from the doorway, before a blur of pink launched himself onto her arms.
"Hey little dude." Mary smiled and twirled Jackson around, the little boy giggling. She set him down and ruffled his hair. "I like your shirt, man." She pointed to his pink Fight Cancer T-shirt. "Thank you." Jackson smiled at the compliment.
"Ready to go?" "Yeah!" He jumped up and down in excitement.
"What are you guys doing today?" Asked Brady, putting a piece of melon in his mouth.
"Umm, I think we're going to just gonna go and volunteer at the women's shelter outside of town again. But don't worry, I'll give him back in time." She smiled and rested her tan hand on Jackie's head.
"Cool-" Alice was cut off by Emma flinging a piece of fruit to Mary. "Emma!" She gently chastised and picked up the fruit with her napkin. "Sorry M." She said.
"Nah, it's cool. I think she wants me to stay for breakfast." Mary joked.
"You might as well, Jackie just woke up and hasnt had breakfast yet." Brady said and motioned to the open seat next to where Jackson was already helping himself to the banana.
"Ok, well, guess I'm staying." She sat down. "Do you have bacon?"
"It's a nice day." Alice commented, trying the ice cream they had bought, leaning against the bench and into him.
"Yeah it is." Brady smiled at her, his ice cream melting slowly in his cop.
"Have you talked to you family lately?" She asked, narrowing her eyes at the sun before studying their kids who were kicking a ball around with Mary.
"No, I talked to them like-" He thought about it "-two weeks ago, I think? Why?"
"Nothing, it's just." She shook her head.
"What is it?" He questioned.
"Well…" She paused and looked at him. "We're at the park, and it always makes me think of my family." He wasn't sure where she was going with this.
"Your brothers are my family too." She said. "And I don't know them very well."
"What are you saying?"
"Im saying that Jackson, Emma and I should at least know them a little better." She said. He considered before nodding.
"Ok." He said. Her eyes widened.
"Really?" SHe said surprised and he grinned.
"Why so surprised, honey?" He teased.
"Well i mean, you kinda hate your brothers." She said.
"I don't hate them." He said a little defensively. "I just- they can be a little hard to deal with but they're good people." She nodded.
"You know what?" He straightened, making her do the same, spoon halfway to her mouth. "I'[ll call them right now." He pulled out his phone and dialed, the smile on his wife's face making it worth the pain of dealing with his brothers.
The phone rang and rang until-
"Hello?"
A/N: Hey! I'm sorry I know I'm late by like two years and I don't really have an excuse other than I don't really know where this story is going? So...
But enough of me. What did you guys think?
P.S. I diagnosed Emma with OCD before I knew how deep this disorder was, but I'm sticking with it. So yeah. Reviews are like gasoline? Haha.
