Dudes, I'm soo sorry about being gone for so long. I have no excuse really so I'm just going to say sorry one more time: I'm sorry. On a side note, for anyone still reading this story have you seen how many fav.s and follows this story got!? Guess that means I'm doing something right…... Anyway, few little small things then we can get into the good stuff.
First off, a lot of you guys have been asking about Ranger Hooch. The reason she is a ranger is cause I thought it sounded good. Also someone said she should be teaching the students how to maneuver in the air on Pokémon. Well, in order to be in the air, you need the move Fly, which is an HM. Hooch will be teaching them about flying and other cool things you can do with the HMs (like quidditch hint hint), but first she gotta teach them about just using the HMs. Example: first you teach a person how to hold a gun, then you teach them how to shoot it.
Second, after careful consideration (I realized it was easier for me) I'm changing what Ranger Hooch is gonna teach the students. As of right now it's "Recreational use of HMs" not "Practical use of HMs". I even changed it in the last chapter if you want to check.
Second part 2, it was brought to my attention that I apparently cuss a lot in this story so far. I'm going on record by stating that I write like I talk, and I cuss a lot. Personally, I don't see anything wrong with cuss words cause to me there's no such thing as bad words, only bad uses for words. Still I will try to curb my cursing a little more because I know there are younger persons on this site. (Honestly all I'm gonna do is swap out words the F**k for Frak and Sh*t for Shyte)
Third, I know the stuff with Ron doesn't sound too good but unfortunately I can't just get rid of him. (I seriously thought about it, but I couldn't. I like his brothers too much even though I hate him.) The plan is to slowly (but not too slowly) faze him out of the story so that he is just a side character. One that's only brought up in emergencies. I wanna try and work it so that I can use Neville and/or Draco to fill-in in all the spots that were originally Ron's moments in the story. Sadly, if and when I make it to third year, Ron will get more air time cause of Scabbers, but after that it will be like "Ron Weasley? He's not a part of this story." Or at least that's the plan.
Fourth, some people have asked how I'm going to explain certain things like McGonagall turning into a Delcatty or how all the boats moved when Hagrid's Grunbull howled or the Great Hall food disappearing. The short and simple answer is this….. I'm not. In Harry Potter a lot of things are explained by saying its 'magic', so that's how I'm gonna explain things. They tell you what something does and how to make it do that, but they don't tell you how it's does it. Like Neville's Remembrall. It tells a person that they've forgotten something, but how does it know that they've forgotten something? Answer: Magic. I'll let you guys come up with your own answers on how some of these things happen, cause the only answer I'm giving is magic.
Now on with the Show!

They say time flies when you're having fun, but for Harry it was more like time flies when you're busy. The two weeks before Ranger Hooch's class seemed to pass by at light speed. Now on the morning of the class, Harry, Hermione, and Neville sat at the Gryffindor table eating their breakfast with the rest of Gryffindor house. Harry and Hermione sat next to each other with Neville facing them. Suddenly there was the sound of wings beating through the air. Harry looked up to see Pokémon flying into the Great Hall from little angled windows in the ceiling. The Pokémon slowly started to land on or near students in the Hall when a few flashes of light appeared around the room. From the lights came Pokémon who moved towards certain students. Just as Harry was about to return to his meal, an older looking brown Pokémon landed in front of Neville.
The Pokémon had brown wings with lighter almost grey looking feathers near the end of its wings. Its chest had tan feathers with a brown stomach. It's neck and most of it's head seemed to have no feathers, only dark pink skin. At the back of its head there were more brown feathers, but these feathers had a bone running through them. The buzzard-like Pokémon jerked a brown clawed leg out to Neville and squawked angrily at the boy. In the claws was a small brown box and an equally small letter. Neville quickly took the items from it. The Pokémon squawked at Neville a second time as it took some of his food and flew away before Basil could smack it with her vines… Not that she didn't try. Hermione and Harry glanced at each other before turning back to Neville.
"…So, who was that?" Harry asked casually, or at least he tried to sound casual. Really all he managed to do was end the silence that had fallen onto the group after the flying type Pokémon's departure.
Neville turned a little pink in the cheeks as he mumbled. "Th-that was Bone-f-f-feather. He's my gra-grandmother's Mandibuzz. He doesn't r-r-really like me m-much." The grass trainer looked down as the box in his hands before he slowly started to open it. The little group leaned closer to see what it was.
Inside the box was a small clear glass ball with a gold ring around it. Unsure of what it was, Harry looked at Neville only to see the other boy frown his brow in confusion as well. Luckily a certain psychic type user wasn't as lost as her male counter parts.
"That's a Remembrall. I've read about those; it's supposed to help the user remember things that they've forgotten." Hermione chirped as she studied the item. "It's supposed to fill with red smoke to let you know if you've forgotten something."
Unfortunately, just as she said that, Neville gentle picked up the glass ball. The item wasn't even in his hand fully before the Remembrall started to fill with the crimson smoke. Neville sighed sadly as he shook his head, his eyes never leaving the red smoke. "Pr-Problem is…. I can't r-r-remember what I've f-f-forgotten." Neville shrugged before he stored the item in one of his inside jacket pockets. Hermione reached over the table and patted the downed boy's shoulder in sympathy before the group went back to their breakfast. Nobody brought up the Remembrall again and Neville was thankful for that.

Harry and the other first years stood in the courtyard waiting for their Ranger Professor to show up. They stood there for a good ten minutes before a girl wearing the Hufflepuff crest started pointing at the sky above them. A small dot was moving between the clouds as it steadily got bigger. Eventually the shape grew large enough that the students could tell that it was a person on the back a Pokémon. The closer it got to them, the easier it was to make out more details about the rider and Pokémon. It was a woman wearing dark red almost brown pants and a matching jacket, riding on the back of a Pidgeot. From the ground, the students could just barely make out a pair of yellow tinted goggles covering part of the woman's face.
The woman and Pidgeot suddenly angled themselves downward into a dive. They were headed for the far corner of the courtyard and didn't look like they were going to stop. Some of the students started to panic the closer they got to the ground. Feet from impacting the earth, Pidgeot suddenly snapped its wings open and leaned into a tight turn. Now almost level with the ground, the feathers on Pidgeot's right wing just barely touched the grass as the pair rocketed towards the students. In an instant, the duo was almost right on top of the students. Some of the young trainers screamed while others dropped to the floor with their arms covering their heads. Hermione grabbed both boys by their collars and dragged them to the ground as she hit the deck as well. Everyone braced with their eyes shut as a rush of wind hit them, then suddenly there was a gentle breeze moving though the group and all was quiet. Slowly one by one, the students opened their eyes.
Hovering a few feet in front and above them was the Pidgeot and its trainer. The woman threw a small black duffle bag towards the ground before she jumped from the Pokémon's back while it was still airborne. Once she hit the ground, the woman shoved her goggles up her face so that they rested on her forehead. She smirked at the group of new trainers just now starting to stand up again. "Scared ya little Grimers, didn't I? Anyways, I'm Ranger Hooch and today I'm gonna be giving you a crash course in HMs."
The Pidgeot behind Hooch nipped at her ear. She turned her head to look at her companion. "What?" the flying type huffed at her before it puffed up its feathers and raised its head. Hooch looked confused for a second before her eyes widened a little. "Oh, right…" she mumbled as she turned back to the class.
Hooch jerked her thumb at the Pidgeot behind her. "The over-grown Pidove here is called Free-Fall and she'll be helping me instruct this class." Free-Fall squawked loudly as she brought one of her wings up and hit the Ranger in the back of her head. Hooch rubbed her head, while grumbling something that sounded suspiciously like "Bloody Bird".
After a moment, Hooch readdressed her students. "Moving on…. Today we're just going to cover some of the basics and at the end, I'll let you guys try your hands at using an HM."
Class went by easily enough after that. Hooch gave a brief history of HMs as well as naming a few books to read about them if anyone wanted to know more. She gave tips and warnings about using certain HMs in certain environments. Example: Using Dive while in the desert? Not going to work. The Ranger made it a point to stress the importance of paying attention to your surroundings if you're using HMs that effect the area around you. "The last thing you want is to cause a cave-in because you used Rock Smash without paying attention to what rock you're breaking. Trust me it ain't fun." She grumbled as she rubbed her shoulder, like she was getting phantom pains remembering one such cave-in. There was only about half an hour left before class would end, when Ranger Hooch grabbed her, previously ignored, duffle bag and motioned the class forward.
"Since you Grimers don't know any HMs, you'll be using some of my pokémon for a little practice run." Inside, the bag was filled with pokeballs. Hooch started passing each student one until everyone was holding a pokeball in his or her hand. "You can go head and let the little buggers out, then we'll get started." A few dozen white flashes later, the group of first years were standing in the middle of an entire flock of Pidgeots.
"Now first thing you're gonna wanna do is introduce yourselves to your new friends. You wouldn't want someone you don't know trying to make you do something and nether to pokémon. When it's your own pokémon that you're using, then you don't have to do this cause they'll already know you." The class did as told… some with more success than others. Neville looked especially nervous as he locked eyes with the big Pidgeot in front of him.
Ranger Hooch started to walk between the students and pokémon as she continued speaking. "This is the most important part. When mounting your pokémon, you always wanna make sure that you keep your arms and legs out of the way of your pokémon's arms, legs, tails and wings. This is even more important if you're using HMs like Fly, Surf, or Dive. Falling out the sky or drowning in the ocean is not a nice way to go, but it can happen if your pokémon's movement is restricted cause your arm's in the way."
When the students were all mounted up, Hooch moved from trainer to trainer making sure they were in the right position. After her check, the Ranger jumped onto Free-fall's back with practiced ease. "My flock is trained to use Fly when their rider says 'Up'. On the count of three, we'll say 'Up'. Once everyone's in the air, we're gonna take a nice easy flight around the courtyard before we touch down again. After that class is over and you brats are free to go." The group voiced their agreement. The Ranger had barely said 'Two' before things started to go sideways.
Neville had felt his temporary Pidgeot tension its body in preparation for flight and panicked for moment. He yelped the first thing to come to his mind. "UP!" He said as he reflexively tightened his hold on the Flying type Pokémon. The Pidgeot, started by the tighter grip, shot into the air as fast as he could. Neville, now well and truly scared from being so high up, whimpered as he shut his eyes and clung to his Pokémon like his life depended on it. Unfortunately, for both Trainer and Pokémon, Neville had moved his arms when he closed his eyes. The young Grass Trainer's hands now acted like a vice grip on the Pidgeot's wings just passed the shoulder joint. This meant that if the Pidgeot didn't want to fall out of the sky or lose his wings, then he would have to fly sideways at an angle. Sideways to the point of being almost upside down and at an angle so that he could avoid crashing into one of the Castle's towers by gliding through them.
"BOY!" A woman's voice yelled, making Neville open his eyes just enough to pick out and look around. There flying a little ways from him was Ranger Hooch.
When the young Gryffindor had jumped the gun, and gone airborne before the rest of the class, Hooch wasn't too worried about it. There was at least one kid in the class every year that panicked and took off early or thought they were hot stuff trying to show off. Now when the Pidgeot, whose name was Jump-Start ironically enough, started squawking in pain before flying upside down between the Hogwarts's towers, Hooch knew that this was only going to get worse if she didn't do something. A quick command of 'Stay on the Ground!' to the rest of the class and the Ranger was in the air rocketed towards her wayward student.
"BOY!" she yelled trying to get Neville's attention. Saving him would be a lot easier if he helped after all. Once she saw that his eyes were open and focused on her, Hooch started yelling what she wanted him to do. "You need to loosen your grip so Jump-Start can level out. Once he levels out, I want you to gently pull backwards on his wings. Doing so will make him slow down some. Are you with me so far?" The Ranger yelled.
Neville nodded. Loosen grip, level out and pull backward on wings, He could do that. He would do anything if it meant that he could get back to the nice safe ground. The ground with the grass and trees and all the other good non- flying things. Let other trainers fly but Neville planned to copy the grass and stay on the ground from now on. With Ranger Hooch's go ahead, Neville loosen his grip on the Pidgeot's wings.
Jump-Start, having felt his rider loosening his grip, immediately brought his wings in close to his body and started to spin. The Pidgeot was aware that his trainer wanted him to level out for the young rider on his back but the flying type wasn't interested in doing anything for the rider who pulled his feathers and really hurt his wings, accidently or not. While spinning Jump-Start had been gaining altitude, the Pidgeot was now very high above Hogwarts. This gave him plenty of room to stop spinning while doing a small tight front flip. The result of the spinning and flip was Neville being thrown clean over Jump-Start's head towards the castle below.
On the ground with the rest of the class below, Harry and Hermione watched as Neville was thrown loose. They watched as Ranger Hooch, who had been steadily gaining on Neville and Jump-Start, struggle to turn sharp enough to chase after Neville. "She's not gonna make it." One of the other first-years whispered.
"We have to do something." Hermione whispered to Harry, her eyes never leaving their falling friend's body. The psychic-type trainer was doing the math in her head. Even though Hooch had managed the turn and was now diving towards Neville, she wouldn't reach him in time. The distance between the two was too great and the distance to the ground wasn't nearly enough. Hermione jumped slightly when Harry let go of her hand, she hadn't even realized she was holding his.
"I know." He said just before he jumped onto one of Ranger Hooch's Pidgeots. With a quick cry of "Up!", Harry was racing across the courtyard towards Neville. As he flew, Harry was never more than three feet from the ground. The Absol trainer figured that if he managed to get to the spot where Neville would land first, then he could steadily rise higher in the air from that spot until Neville reached him. Only problem was when he finally caught Neville, the other boy was probably going to impact with him going very fast. Speed meant force, and Harry could already feel the bruises forming from how hard he was about to be hit. As he was nearing Neville's crash point, the Absol trainer suddenly had to lean his Pidgeot into a cork-screw so that he didn't hit Professor McGonagall, who was walking down one of the courtyard paths. For one precious moment, Harry locked eyes with the shocked Professor as he passed her. The surprise and confusion on her face would have made him laugh if he wasn't so focused on getting to Neville in time.
McGonagall stood very still after she was alone again. The Delcatty Pokémagus was feeling conflicted. On the one hand, Harry Potter one of her first years just flew by her on a Pidgeot and unless Rolanda changed her teaching style without telling anyone, then he wasn't supposed to be in the air right now. That boy was going to be in some serious trouble soon. As a teacher and Head of House, it was her job to enforce punishment on anyone not doing what they're supposed. On the other hand…. Harry Potter one of her first years just flew by her on a Pidgeot and McGonagall could see some real promise and talent in him for it. It was obvious on the boy's face that he hadn't seen her until he was right on top of her, yet Mr. Potter was able to perform an excellent cork-screw to avoid hitting her. He kept his movements tight and he hadn't lost any speed as he went by. Talent like that needed to be explored and maybe even put on the House Quidditch team. McGonagall smirked a little at that as she started walking over to where Rolanda liked to teach her classes. First, she was going to find out what in the name of Arcues is going on with the Ranger's class, then she would figure out whether or not she should punish Mr. Potter or if she should hand him over to the quidditch team. Either choice was going to be a punishment really, since some of the Quidditch team members could be a little… intense.
Harry had only risen fifteen maybe twenty feet in the air after reaching the crash point before Neville was landing on him. The Grass-type trainer landed on Harry's back hard. The impact forced them down ten feet before Harry's Pidgeot managed to stop their descent. Once they were stable, Neville wrapped his arms around Harry as far as they would go and buried his face between Harry's shoulder blades. "Neville… are you … are you ok.?" Harry gasped after he caught his breath, having someone land on you nocks the air from your lungs like nothing else ever could.
"J-j-j-just g-g-get m-m-me d-d-down. Please, g-get m-m-me d-d-down-n." The other boy whimpered with his eyes closed, not that Harry could see that.
Harry guided the Pidgeot in a nice slow and steady glide back towards the courtyard. Neither spoke the whole flight until the Pidgeot gently touched down near the rest of the class. As Harry helped Neville off the pokémon, the rest of the class rushed over to them. Everyone started talking at once trying be heard over each other. Just as quickly as they came, everyone jumped back as Neville dropped to his knees and moaned softly before he started to vomit. Hermione was kneeing next to him in an instant with her hand and arm pressing into his shoulder to hold him up and her other hand rubbed circles on his back. "Easy, easy Neville. Just breath. Let it all out. It's over, you're safe now. Just breath." She murmured to him as he continued to empty his stomach. The rest of first year trainer just stood back and watched. Harry stood quietly watching his friends before he felt someone step up to his side.
"You did good kid." Ranger Hooch said softly. The Ranger glanced at the kid by her side. The boy had guts, she'd give him that. Not many people would disobey the person in charge of them and go racing off to help a person in need. Still Hooch would gladly take disobedience over someone getting hurt. The moment she realized that she wasn't going to be able to reach her student in time, the Ranger could feel guilt and shame forming in the pit of her stomach. It was these dark emotions that made her almost miss seeing Neville being caught by Harry. As soon as she realized that Neville was not a bloody smear on the ground, Hooch had started to fly alongside the boys to make sure nothing else happened on the way back.
With Neville finished throwing-up, Ranger Hooch and Hermione gently helped him stand. "Easy there little man, your stomach ain't ready for you to start moving too fast." Hooch said as Neville started to sway a little. Neville only moaned softly as he leaned into Hermione's side. The Ranger shook her head slightly before addressing Hermione. "Ms. Granger, mind helping me get this kid to the Hospital Wing? I don't really trust his balance enough right now to have him walking without help." At Hermione's nod of agreement, Hooch turned to the rest of the class. "Right so, class is over. If you'll put my pokémon back into their pokéballs and put the balls back in my bag that'd be great." That said, Ranger Hooch started to lead Hermione and Neville away. They had made it a few feet before Hooch stopped and looked over her shoulder. "Oh and before I forget…. In case any of you Grimers are thinking of pulling a fast one on me, please keep in mind that I know exactly how many pokeballs should be in that bag and I know exactly who I gave what pokeball to. If I find one missing, that person will be cleaning out the Aviary stales for the school's Flying pokémon for a month… by hand." Having sufficiently threat-instructed her students, the Ranger continued walking just as Professor McGonagall came marching towards her.
For a single moment right before McGonagall passed her, Hooch thought the stern Professor was coming after her for endangering one of her litleos. The Ranger almost whimpered in fear before she realized that Minerva wasn't interested in her… yet. The Professor had only gifted her with a quick glare as she passed before a concerned look at the two students trailing behind her and still onwards passed them. Relief filled Hooch as well as pity for the poor Grimer that had earned Minerva's attention. The thought of facing the Delcatty Pokemagus' wrath was no laughing matter as many who have seen it are terrified of seeing it a second time… With the notable exception of the Weasley twins. Brave boys those two, insane but brave.
"Mr. Potter, come with me." Professor McGonagall commanded as she reached the remaining members of the class. Almost immediately the Gryffindors and Hufflepuffs started to protest. "Enough." Even though she hadn't raised her voice or even changed her tone, everyone still grew silent. Satisfied that there would be no more protest, McGonagall motioned for Harry to follow her. "Mr. Potter…" Harry could do nothing but follow as the Professor marched away. Maybe if he was lucky he could explain what happened quick enough to avoid trouble.
Professor McGonagall led the young Absol trainer out of the courtyard with a slight smirk. Mr. Potter thought he was in for some trouble now but by the end of the day, he'd be begging for detention instead of what she had in mind.

Harry entered the Hospital Wing part way through lunch with three plates worth of food in hands. Neville hadn't been allowed to leave the Hospital Wing yet and Hermione had come to check on him at the start of lunch. As the only member of their group to actually go to the Great Hall for lunch, Harry figured it would be better to just get enough food for all of them and eat in the Hospital Wing. Angel walked beside him with a small bag in her mouth.
For a room that almost rivalled the Great Hall in size, the Hospital Wing was nearly empty. Neville and Basil sat on one of the beds on the left side of the room near the middle of the room. Hermione sat in a seat next to his bed reading with Morpheus as Harry walked up.
"Hey Neville, you feeling any better?" Harry asked as he and Hermione started setting out the food that he brought. Angel set her bag on the bed before she gentle licked Neville's check in greeting. Neville smiled at her as he opened the bag to find napkins and plates.
"Y-yeah, I'm f-feeling much b-b-better with my f-feet on the g-g-ground." He said as Hermione passed him some fruit. Hermione and Morpheus eat in their chair with Harry and Angel jumping up onto the bed to eat. The group was quiet for a while before Neville turned to Harry.
"S-some of the others came b-by earlier, they said M-M-McGonagall t-took you after we l-l-left for p-punishment. You d-d-didn't really get in tr-tr-trouble for s-s-saving me did you?" Neville asked with a guilty look on his face. The Grass trainer would feel terrible if it was true. He would go to McGonagall as soon as he was released to try and make amends if he had to.
Harry scrunched up his eyebrows as he shrugged his shoulders. "To be honest, I'm not really sure about that either. Yes, she did come get me. No, it wasn't cause I was in trouble…. at least I don't think it was. After she got me, Professor McGonagall took me to see an older Gryffindor named Oliver Wood. She kinda just presented me to him and said, 'Mr. Wood, I believe I have found you a Seeker.' When she said that, he looked at me like I could make all his dreams come true or something." Hermione and Neville started at him. Harry shrugged again. "Anyway, the dude started talking about taking me out after dinner to see what I could do but then he looked crushed before saying that he had detention with Professor Snape tonight so he's going to have the Wesley twins come find me later. As McGonagall was leading me away, I could hear him cackling to himself about a possible chance to beat Slytherin." With his friends still silently staring at him, Harry huffed before gesturing with his hands. "What? Why are you guys just staring?"
"Harry…. Do you know what a Seeker is?" Hermione asked gently. Harry scrunched up his eyebrows and looking to Angel, who shrugged at him, before turning back to Hermione and shrugging his shoulders. The psychic type trainer signed as Neville swallowed his giggling. "A Seeker is a position that someone plays in a game of Quidditch." Hermione said.
"Right makes sense, but that brings us to a new question… What's Quidditch?" Harry asked while Angel nodded next to him. Hermione groaned softly as she pinched her nose. Removing her hand from her face, Hermione opened her mouth to explain Quidditch when Neville gently tapped the back of his knuckles on her arm. She looked at him confused.
"I d-d-don't think you're s-supposed to ruin the s-surprise. If t-t-this Wood person and Professor M-M-McGonagall d-didn't tell him when t-t-they were talking about it in f-f-front of him, then I think they ex-ex-expect the twins to d-do it. Think about it, this c-c-could still be a punishment f-for Harry mixed in with a r-r-reward at the s-s-same time. Let the Wesley twins ex-ex-explain everything to him, if they d-d-don't then we can d-do it after he's d-d-done with them." Neville said quietly, he was nervous that what he said was stupid or that he was overthinking things.
Hermione and Harry looked at each other before staring at Neville. The grass type trainer was just about to take it back when Hermione cut him off. "That makes sense actually. The Professor probably knows that Harry doesn't know what Quidditch is. A few hours of unease seems like a good punishment for breaking the rules."
The rest of lunch passed quickly after that. Madam Pomfrey cleared Neville to leave for class as long as he took things easy for the rest of the day. They were just about to leave when Morpheus, being carried by Hermione, gentle tugged on Hermione's neck. The psychic type trainer looked to see what he wanted just as a small glass ball floated out of her pocket covered in a faint purple light. Hermione grabbed the ball when the light faded and kissed Morpheus lightly on the head. Honestly, Hermione really loved her little cuddle monster sometimes. He helped her stay on top of everything and remember all the little details.
"Guys hold up a sec." She said as Harry grabbed the door handle for the exit. Both boys looked at her when she held out the glass ball to Neville. "Neville, you dropped your Remmebrall back in the courtyard."
Neville patted his jacket pockets before he took it from her. "Thanks for f-f-finding it. I hadn't even r-realized I l-l-lost it, with all that h-happened." He put the ball into one of his inside jacket pockets. Hermione shook her head.
"I didn't find it, Draco did. He snuck it in my hand while I was on my way here before lunch. I think he wanted me to give it back to you. Not sure why he didn't just come give it to you himself though." She grumbled the last part as she shook her head again. Harry shrugged at her while Neville looked thoughtful. Now that she mentioned it, Draco did something similar when he wanted to warn to Harry about Snape's class back in their first week too.
"I think it's got s-something to do with P-Pureblood ideals more th-than anything else." Neville mumbled to himself. Realizing Harry and Hermione heard him, the Grass type trainer spoke louder. "How m-much do you g-g-guys know about Purebloods? You know the f-f-families that have been trainers for centuries. About f-families like mine in g-g-general?" Harry blinked at him once before he shrugged and shook his head. Hermione thought about it for a minute before shaking her head too.
Neville scratched at the back of his head before looking sheepish and ashamed. "A n-n-number of the older pureblood f-f-families believe that only purebloods sh-should be allowed to h-h-have pokémon and that people who d-don't come fr-fr-from these families h-have no right to own a pokémon. In their m-minds, every pokémon that b-b-belongs to a first-generation tr-tr-trainer is a Pokémon that was s-s-stolen from them. Anyone who d-d-doesn't have Pokémon are c-c-considered inferiors that only want Pokémon be-be-because its become m-m-more acceptable to h-have and work with Pokémon in the l-l-last generation or so." At seeing the hurt look enter Hermione's eyes and the dark look crossing Morpheus' face. Neville began waving his hands and shaking his head as he said quickly. "N-N-NOT my f-f-family! We d-don't believe that. In fact, there qu-qu-quite a few pureblood families that b-believe if a pokémon ch-chooses you and you ch-choose them then it shouldn't m-matter what your family history is. The W-W-Weasley's for example believe in ch-choice so much that they d-d-do their 'Night in the Woods' trial f-f-for their children." The feeling of impending doom left as Hermione gave him a slight smile and hugged Morpheus close to her to stop the Abra from glaring at Neville.
Neville smiled back before he continued talking, by now the group had left the Hospital wing and were on their way to their next class. "The Mal-Malfoy family on the other h-hand…they don't. The Mal-Malfoys are one of the b-b-biggest supporters of Pureblood supremacy. There are r-r-rumors that Draco's f-f-father Lucius Mal-Malfoy was one of the d-d-dark trainers under You-Know-Who b-b-but no one can prove that."
Harry shook his head. "Ok I get that about his family, but Draco was nice enough to me when we met in Diagon and I'm not a pureblood. Plus, he warned us about Snape's class. Draco didn't seem to have a problem with Hermione when he met her before the Sorting ceremony on our first night here."
Neville shrugged. "You m-m-might not be a pureblood b-but the Potter Family was. That g-g-grants you some leeway and he m-might not have r-realized that you weren't one at the time. The n-n-night of our Sorting, he was m-m-more interested in messing with R-Ron than anything else."
"And, he didn't tell you about Snape until after he got you alone. Meaning no one was around to see him talking to you." Hermione pointed out. The group had made it to the hallway with their classroom in it. With a few minute to spare, they quickly grabbed sits in the back of the class. The little group thanked Arceus for giving them an easy class after incident in Hooch's class. Having Professor Binns right after Ranger Hooch's class was actually standard practice because there was always someone in every class that made learning about HMs more exciting than it should have been. The staff found that excitement followed by food then one of the lighter classes made it easy to manage the students and any problems that might have come up.
Neville nodded as he got comfortable in his seat. "I d-d-don't think he has a p-problem with Hermione personally, b-b-but he isn't exactly f-friendly to other First-Gen. trainers. He's not r-r-real mean or cr-cruel to them b-b-but its clear he d-doesn't like interacting with them. I think he j-j-just wants to avoid trouble with h-his parents, so he's not going to b-be very open about l-l-liking us."
Harry hummed as he nodded slowly. "Fair enough, I still think he's a friend though. Maybe a secret friend for now, but a friend never the less." Hermione and Neville agreed to that easily. Silence wrapped around the group as the waited for the Professor to arrive.
PpppppppppppppppppppppppP
It was just as dinner was ending and students were leaving the Great Hall that the Weasley twins came for him. They wore the same uniforms from before and carried a big chest between them. After saying goodbye to Neville and Hermione, Harry followed the Twins out of the castle to a large building down the hill near a large lake. The lake in question, being one of the natural reservoirs for the many rivers running through the Forbidden Zone. The building turned out to be a large stadium made out stone, wood, and steel. Banners in the house colors and crests hung from the outer walls while smaller flagpoles stood bare along the top. Fred explained that the stadium student committee raised flags in the color of which ever house teams were competing that day to allow people to choose who they cheered for most. On first entering the stadium, there was a wide corridor that ran in a circle through the building. Average sized doorways lead to staircase lined the inter wall of the corridor. George said the stairs lead up to stadium seats for people to get good views of the activates happening in the center of the stadium. Walking passed the stairs lead to a metal door also cut into the inner wall. Harry opened the door for the twins to lead into a smaller hallway. The smaller hallway also ran in a circle with doors on the outer wall. As far as Harry could tell this meant that whatever rooms they lead to where under the stairs. Directly in front of them was a massive steel gate with a wide tunnel behind it. Fred typed in a code into a small keypad next to the gate. The steel gate slowly slid into the floor, allowing entrance to the tunnel.
Walking into the center of the stadium was quit the sight. The center itself was a large oval shape arena with finely crushed gravel covering the ground. There were painted lines that made the outline of a pokémon battlefield and lines running around the edge of the entire arena. George said the lines form the lanes of the track that trainers and Pokémon ran during PokéRaces. Between the track and the battlefield, there were more painted marks on the ground in the shape of two long thin rectangles on opposite sides of the arena. Running down the long sides of the battlefield in between the track and the field itself were two pools of water.
Around the area were tall stone walls with a few metal panels cut into them. The walls themselves had faded scorch marks and gashes in them, showing many years' worth of battles and history. Rows and rows of sits started a few feet from the walls. Easily enough sits for the entire school plus anyone visiting for sporting events. Harry couldn't see it from the arena, but the Twins told him that two of the metal panels were actually the protective covering for the glass windows that looked into the teachers' Box and the on-site Medic's office. The panels slid down when the stadium was in use. The other panels did different things depending on what event was going on.
The Twins and Harry stopped in the middle of the battlefield, where the Twins set down the wooden chest they carried between them. Turning to Harry, the Twin on the right started opening the chest while the one on the left clapped his hands together. "So Harry… can we call you Harry?" At Harry's confused nod, both twins grinned. The twin who opened the chest moved to allow Harry to see inside. In the chest were three balls and two pokéballs. One of the balls was larger than the other two. It looked to be made of dark leather and was large enough to be held with both hands, though there were grooves carved into it to allow a person to hold it with one hand. The other two balls were smaller and made of hard gray metal. The pokéballs looked like camouflage but in different shades of gold rather than green. "Right so Harry, Ollie boy told us to give you a basic run through of Quidditch. Specifically the Seeker position, that about right?" Again, Harry nodded.
"Wicked. So as you can see my amazing and fabulous better half-." "Why thank you my devilishly handsome and brilliant brother." "But of course you Puckish Rouge you. Anyway as you can see he's got two different types of balls in his hands." Fred said as he bantered with George while talking to Harry. George handed over the bigger of the two balls. "First thing you need to know is that Quidditch is a team sport and that there are seven players on a team. A Keeper, Three Chasers, Two Beaters and One Seeker, we'll start with the Chasers. Now the ball you're holding is called the quaffle, only the Chasers and the Keeper can touch this ball. Chasers have to get the quaffle from the other team and then take the ball to the other teams rings to score points. Chasers are also the only players that are not allowed to use HMs during a game. As a tradeoff though, Chasers can use any of the four moves their Pokémon knows…. Within reason, moves like Explosion are a no-no." Here George pointed to one of the thin rectangles at the ends of the arena.
"Those rectangles are really trap doors that open up to allow three large metal rings on tall poles to rise from the ground. The rings stay hidden unless there's a game cause if they're up then they get in the way of spectators watching battles or races. Fun fact; during games, this whole arena fills with water after the rings come up. Some of the panels on the walls drop open to allow floating platforms and hovering platforms to enter into the arena. Makes things more interesting and challenging to play both in the air, on land and in the water, plus if you fall off your pokémon or even just slip off a platform then you have a safe landing." He said as Fred grabbed one of the gold camouflage pokéballs.
"Very true Georgie, anyways Chasers get ten points for every time they get the Quaffle though one of the rings. Which brings us to Keepers. They're the ones who guard the rings. A Keeper's job is to stop Chasers from scoring and get the Quaffle to their own Chasers. Keepers can use one HM. The choice of what HM to use is up to the player but they can only use that one for the entire game. Oliver is our Keeper, just so you know." Fred said while George took the Quaffle from Harry and gave him the smaller metal ball. He put it back in the chest and grabbed the other metal ball from inside.
"The ball you're holding now is called a Bludger. It's made of a hard metal that hurts a fair bit when you get hit by it. They can and will cover you in bruises if you don't get out of their way. Without armor they can even break bones but that's really only if you don't protect yourself when you're hit. Bludgers are used by Beaters to hammer down on the opposing team. Beaters are tasked with interrupting enemy team formations, forcing Chasers to drop the Quaffle, and countering the other team's Beaters. As Freddie and I are the Beaters for the Gryffindor team, we can each use two HMs in a game but one of those has to be the HM Strength for each Beater. The HM Strength allows us to use the Bludger and the other HM is so we can help our team or hinder the other team depending on which HM we choose. Me and Fred'll show you so watch close." George explained as both twins pull a black and yellow Ultra ball from their jackets. Still in sync with each other they clicked open their pokéballs. As the white light fade, there stood two humanoid pokémon. One looked like a brown man wearing a purple chest protector with red boxing gloves on his hands. The other also looked like a brown man but it had light tan marking like bandages around its wrists and going down its legs.
"Right so Knockout will move away from us and once he's in place Kickback will launch a Bludger at him." Fred said as he waved his Hitmonchan to a spot away from them. When Knockout raised his hands into a ready position, George tossed his Bludger to his Hitmonlee. The fighting type bounced the ball a few times off his knee and foot before he bounced it high above his head. As the Bludger was coming down, Kickback jumped slightly as he snapped his leg up in a powerful kick. His foot connected with a sharped dinging sound before the ball rocketed toward Knockout. The Bludger was going fast enough to make a soft whistling sound as it cut through the air. In no time at all, the ball was right on top of Knockout. Harry thought that he wouldn't be able to counter given how fast the Bludger was going, but just as the ball would have planted itself in his chest Knockout slammed his fist into it hard enough to scoot the fighting type back a little. The Bludger was now coming back at Kickback even faster than before. The whistling sound was a little louder too. As the ball came into reach of Kickback, the fighting type snapped his leg up in a kick so tight that his shin almost touched his forehead. The Bludger was now raising high in the sky like a real rocket before it seemed to lose momentum and started falling again. When the ball came back into reach for Kickback, he repeated his last kick sending the ball back into the sky. He did this a few more times to bleed off the rest of the Bludger's speed and force until he balanced it on his knee. By the time Kickback had stopped the Bludger, Knockout was back standing next Fred.
Harry passed the Bludger back and forth between his hands as George took the other one from Kickback. "With as fast as that Bludger was going, how can players get out of the way? If you launched it at a player from behind, I don't think they'd have enough time to realize what's happening let alone react to it."
"That's what the whistling sound is there for." Fred said.
"Yeah?"
"Really. The faster the ball goes, the louder the whistle gets. The whistle gets the players attention and lets them know a Bludger is near them. It doesn't tell players where the Bludger is coming from or if it's even them that the Bludger is after but it's enough warning so people don't get too hurt. Players can ignore it if they want but then they can't cry foul when they get hurt if they knew what was coming." George shrugged as Fred nodded. The Twins took Harry's Bludger and handed him one of the gold pokéballs.
Harry studied the pokéball in his hand. Up close it looked like a Safari ball but with the wrong coloring. It still had a tiny stylized 'S' carved into the top like the Safari ball but this pokéball almost looked like a chunk of gold ore. It seemed to shimmer in the stadium lights as well. Though it was thankfully much lighter than a chunk of gold would be.
"That Pokéball is called a Seekerball. It's a specialized version of the Safari ball but it also has characteristics of a Masterball. It's built to be usable only during a Quidditch game and can only be used by a Seeker. Seekers use it to catch a special Pokémon that is released in the middle of the game. The pokémon changes for every game so its called the 'Snitch' during a game but the point of a Seeker's job is to hunt and capture them. The Seeker ball has a hundred percent capture rating like a Masterball so it makes it a little easier to catch the special pokémon." Fred explained.
Harry stared that pokéball in his hand. If it was like a Masterball with a hundred percent capture rating then why..? "Now I know what you're thinking." George said seeing Harry stare so hard that the ball. "If the Seekerball has a hundred percent capture rating then why is it used in a game and not to go catch Pokémon for real? The answer is real simple. Yes the Seekerball has an amazing capture rate, but it has drawl-backs that make it very difficult to use. In order to use it, you the Seeker have to be holding it when it touches the Pokémon you what to catch. In addition to that it only works on Pokémon that have already been caught by someone. There's a tiny energy field that surrounds Pokémon that have been caught that the Seekerball picks up on. Its that energy field that allows the Seekerball to work temporarily. So any Pokémon you catch with it is only caught for an hour before its freed from the pokéball."
Fred took the Seekerball from Harry to demonstrate. First he throw it at Knockout, hitting the Fighting type lightly on the shoulder. The pokéball held against Knockout's shoulder for a second before falling harmlessly to the ground at he's feet. Fred then stepped close to pick up the Seekerball, before he gently pressed it into Knockout's arm. This time when it touched the Hitmonchan it clicked open. A bright gold light shown before Knockout was gone. A second click signaled the catch was successful before Fred tossed the pokéball, letting his Pokémon out again.
Fred put the Seekerball back into the chest as George started talking again. "Seekers have the option of using one HM or all of their non HM moves during a game. They must declare which option they will use at the start of the game, though they can change their choice every game. If a Seeker tries to change their choice during a game however, that's a penalty for their team and a lose of 150 points. On the flip side when the Seeker catches the Snitch then they win 150 points and the game is over."
The twins put the rest of the equipment and their Pokémon away before focusing on Harry again. "Any questions, concerns or commentary Harry?" they asked together. It seemed now that the lesson for the most part was over, they were back to their twin speak.
"No." Harry said. He understood well enough, and anything he didn't quite get he could ask his friends about.
"Lovely, all that's left-"
"Is to show you-"
"Where the Locker rooms-"
"And Sports Gear is kept-"
"We can show you-"
"The Trophy Hall of Fame on-"
"The way there!" The twins cheered together as they grabbed their chest and lead Harry off the field.
Instead of leaving by the same gate they came through, the twins lead him through a gate on the opposite side of the arena. Taking a left after passing through the gate, the three boys eventually came to a wider section of the Hall. This section formed a long wide room filled with pictures lining the walls. The room was divided by color into four sections. Picture frames in Gryffindor Red covered half the wall to Harry's right. In the middle of the pictures was a wooden pedestal with a golden cloth covering the top. Above the pedestal was a narrow but long ledge with several hooks around it. On the hook directly above the ledge was a large Medal hanging from a hook. One of the hooks next to it had a smaller Medal. Half way down the room wall, the frames changed to yellow. A light wood pedestal and black cloth with ledge and hooks stood with them. Several Medals hung from the hooks around the ledge. On the ledge itself sat a slanted frame that contained a large Gold Ribbon.
To Harry's left were Ravenclaw Blue frames surrounding a dark wooden pedestal covered by a bronze colored cloth. The ledge above it had a golden State of a Timerball with a book leaning on it sitting there. There was also a Medal hanging from one of the hooks. Just pass the blue and bronze, were Slytherin Green frames with a dark wooden pedestal. Sitting on top of a silver cloth was a good-sized glitching trophy. On the front of the Trophy was the Hogwarts Crest with a half wreath curving up around it from the bottom. Above the Crest was an etching of a Quaffle with twin Bludgers on either side. On the other side of the Bludgers were two Seekerballs that hovered over the tips of the wreath.
Fred noticed Harry's interest in the trophy. "That's the Quidditch Cup. It goes to the winner of the Inter-House Quidditch tournament every year. Slytherin has won it for seven years in a row, but with you on our team maybe we can change that."
George moved to point at some of the Gryffindor picture frames. "All the pictures are of the different Teams and Champions each house has had over the years. Some of them even date back to the founding of the school."
Coming over to look at them, Harry's gaze stopped on one photo. The frame read ' Quidditch Cup Champions of 1975 ' across the top. The picture showed seven boys grinning as they held the Quidditch Cup high above their heads. It was the boy slightly to the left in the picture that had Harry's attention so completely. He looked to be fifteen with wild black hair and a cocky tilt to his grin. Brown eyes shined with pride behind dirty glasses from a face that looked so much like his. A glance at the bottom of the frame showed the players' names and position. 'Chaser #3: Potter, James ' it said in small red letters.
"That's my dad…" Harry whispered as his fingers lightly traced the picture. The twins were silent as they watched the Absol trainer. Even they knew when to let someone have a moment.
The rest of the tour was uneventful. The twins showed him the equipment room and the Gryffindor locker room. While in the locker room they promised to get Harry some school training armor and official armor before team training started for the season. Practices would be every Tuesdays and Thursdays in the evenings before dinner. Fred warned that the number of practices would increase as the season got under way though.
Getting back to the common room, the twins left Harry with a tiny warning before leaving again. Fred warning him to keep his admission to the Quidditch team a secret for now, while George playfully threatened to use the Absol trainer for prank testing if anyone, especially the Slytherins, learned he was on the team before the first game of the season. At least Harry thought he was joking as the twins left with Cheshire grins on their lips and mischief in their eyes. Hermione and Neville were sitting by the fireplace waiting for him.
Harry quickly made his way to them as they moved to make room for him between them. "H-How'd it go?" Neville asked. The trio of friends quietly discussed everything the twins showed and told Harry. There were mixed views among the friends. Hermione, while happy that Harry wasn't in trouble, didn't think being given a spot on a sports team was a good response either. "I'm not saying I wanted you to get in trouble, but until tonight you didn't even know what Quidditch was. Playing in a game you've never heard of and without you consent, just doesn't seem right." She said softly. The common room was slowly emptying as other Gryffindors headed to their rooms for the night.
Neville was silent as a pair of Fourth years passed them heading for the girls dorms. "I think you r-r-right, but a r-reward is better then no r-reward. Besides, maybe Harry will like p-playing once he's tried it." The grass-type user said slowly after they were alone. His studder was getting better around his friends. Talking slower helped and he felt safe enough with them to do it without them getting annoyed with the slower speech. It was other people expecting a quick and sure answer that made him nervous more often then not…. Like Professor Snape.
Harry shrugged lightly. "No changing it now, but who knows maybe I will like it later. Maybe I won't. For now I'm just hoping I don't make a fool of myself when this starts."
"Harry, I'm sure y-y-you'll do great if you s-set your mind to it. We'll b-b-be cheering for you the whole t-t-time too." Neville grinned at he's friend.
Hermione bumped shoulders with the Absol trainer before she stood up. "Besides, if you don't like it we'll be right beside you for that too. If later you want off the team, we'll do what we can to help." She yuan as they boys stood as well and the friends started making their way towards the stairs. " I don't know about you boys, but I'm going to sleep. Worrying about you is more stressful the classes…. and I can't have coffee this late at night to cope. So goodnight boys, see you in the morning." With that said, Morpheus flashed from his pokéball to cuddle into Hermione's back as she headed up the stairs.
Both boys called their 'Night Hermione' to her as they climbed the boys stairs. Making it to their room, both boys let Angel and Basil before starting to change for bed. Basil softly patted across Neville's bed to claim his pillow. She turned on it a few times before sitting down to wait for her trainer. Angel simply sat on the floor next to the bed, waiting for Harry to get in first. After all, her Human made the best pillow and there was no point trying to get comfortable without him.
As the boys climbed into bed, Neville turned to Harry. "B-Before I forget, you friend H-H-Hagrid stopped by while y-you were with the twins. H-H-He wanted you to come see h-him after dinner tomorrow. Said h-h-he had something really special to show y-you." Harry frowned in thought for a second before shrugging. It'd be nice to catch up with the huge man, plus he could introduce his new friends to him too. Both boys were out before their heads even hit the pillows.

And I is done for this chapter! I'm still sorry for being absent for so long. Second sorry if the end seemed rushed or incomplete but I was struggling with it.
What do you think of my take on Quidditch Pokémon Style? Also just a heads up, there will be more then just Quidditch for people to play. I thought it was weird that the only sporting event or entertainment was just one thing. So By The Power Vested In Me .. by me.. I declare that there will be more. Like Pokéraces and Battle Tournaments, even Beauty Contests and I didn't really like those in the game.
All the different trophies and medals will be explained as we get to them, for now just know that their for all the different things that can be done at Hogwarts.
As for Pureblood ideals, Neville gave us some info on it but I plan to have Draco explain it more when the time comes. For now just know that it's a thing but a little different then it is in cannon.
Next time: Hagrid and we get to meet more Pokémon! Maybe Harry and the others will meet their next Pokémon too (Hint Hint).
Review if you want, if not it won't hurt my feelings. Your wants and desires for the story just won't happen that's all.
