I know, this was a long time in coming. Well, here we are!
OoOoOo
She clung to him like a drowning rat clung to wood in an ocean.
America was not letting Prussia get away from her. Oh hell no. Now, some might make the argument that it was due to the fact that Switzerland was now emanating some form of intangible threats of pain, but it might also be that the female nation was attempting to ease some of the nearly unbearable awkwardness. What should she say? Was he mad that there were no Swiss exhibits? Did he want to see a particular animal that wasn't in the Zoo?
America was wracking her brain to figure out what in the name of the seven hills of Rome could have pissed him off since the moment he walked through the damn gate. However, the best she could come up with, was that he honestly was about as thrilled at being alone with her on this little field trip, as most people are to discover they have herpes.
Epic.
They hadn't even been her thirty minutes and he'd already made two children cry with his fierce aura. She craned her neck, trying to 'descretly' watch him from behind Prussia, but it was honestly not working. She tried, seven times, and each time, it was almost comically obvious how she was peeking out from his shoulder. Not that she really needed to check on Switzerland. He was a big country. A full-grown... intelligent... attractive...rather tempting bit of-
Whoa girl. Reign it in.
America flushed, quickly looking away and said a quick prayer that he hadn't noticed. He probably had. Oh this was just freaking perfect!
Awesome, even.
Speaking of Awesome...
Her blue gaze met the outline of Prussia's profile as he leaned closer to the glass to get a better look at the Lions. Unbeknownst to America, a soft smile twitched at her mouth at Prussia's obvious enjoyment of this place. She hummed in the back of her throat, trying not to over-think everything, but just as she was about to place if from her mind, her eyes wandered toward Switzerland again.
Who was... staring...
Right. At. Her.
The impassive expression on his face was slightly unnerving, because she had the distinct impression that he was really unhappy to be here. Which made her internally wilt a bit. Liechtenstein would have loved this place. Which was, after all, who she had originally made the plans with. And, she honestly hadn't expected that they would be thrown together at the last possible moment.
But, for just a few hours, could he just pretend that he didn't hate her? Was that really so much to ask?
She gave a sight of self-deprecation. Of course it was. He couldn't stand her. Which made her chest sting just a bit more. She really did like him. Why would she go through all the trouble of sta- um... bird watching him if she didn't have a heavy dose of affection for the normally stoic nation. Part of her wanted to take a page out of Italy's book and start waving flags around, maybe send him a message in 'morse code' to remind him that she wasn't bad and wasn't 'up' to anything.
America blushed faintly, realizing that she'd been staring at Switzerland while her mind raced through possible scenarios and her own slight paranoia that everything was her fault. Call it being conditioned by the world, or whatever...
She gave a wide smile in his direction. It was like watching someone play battleship, a child board game, and miss at every turn. Switzerland did not look mollified or appeased in the slightest.
Damnit, why couldn't she get through to this guy? Honestly, at this point, she was half tempted to start barking like a seal and doing some tricks if it got her some positive attention.
Well, okay, not really like a seal. Maybe quack like a duck. Or make that odd noise that Otters made.
Hm. Yeah, she could definitely make the Otter noise. But not a giraffe. That was a hard one. Wait, if she could-
Someone coughed, and she blinked up at Prussia who was eyeing her with open amusement, and it had been a chore to tear her gaze away from Switzerland. America paled, before attempting to laugh it off.
Crap.
Did everyone know? She'd been so careful and subtle. No. There was no way Prussia could know. None. America was a walking vault of secrets. You know, about her love life. But, to be fair, she had nothing on Switzerland. His deep blue gaze flickered from America to Prussia a time or two. He likely thought she and Prussia were up to some sort of global domination.
Or accuse her of spying again.
On other nations. Still, the image of Poland flooded back to her, and America had to admit. The man had some very good assets. So to speak.
Switzerland appeared even more stony, and she noticed that he glanced at a group of women over by the Zebra's. A small prickling of envy started in her veins. Were they his type? Not that she could do anything about it, but it made her slightly better to think that they had as much chance with the European nation as she did. America knew that Europe had a lot of beautiful women, and so did she. But, maybe her preferred those women with their dainty shoes and inability to stuff five cheeseburgers in their mouth at the same time?
Some people would be impressed by the burger trick! England had been speechless the first time she'd shown him. Absolutely speechless with how amazing she was.
Feeling faintly better, America stuck to her original plan of using the 'Awesome' Prussia as a human shield. She grabbed his arm, and tried not to be utterly mortified at how this was all going down. At least Switzerland was not ignoring them. She knew by how quickly he followed when she waved him forward with a -
"Come on, let's go see the Bears."
"I thought you wanted to see the wolves?"
America nearly froze mid-step.
Switzerland had actually asked her something for the first time since they'd arrived at the Zoo.
Her mind blanked, with grace, she might add. If such a thing were possible. She should have gotten whiplash by how quickly she turned her head toward him. Her blue gaze was wide in shock and maybe a bit of happiness.
OoOoOo
The albino was swiftly getting on his nerves, and it made his trigger finger itch. Damn those American policies on bringing guns into the country without prior notice.
Not that he hadn't done that anyway.
But, America would surely notice if he shot Prussia at point blank. He might have to wait until later. Oh it would not kill the target, but it would sting... very much.
Green eyes narrowed balefully at the way they interacted. America smiled at Prussia and chatted animatedly. Granted, America smiled at everyone. When she caught his gaze for the ninth time in thirty minutes, Switzerland felt a vague sense of relief that she was still very aware of his presence. She seemed to be more continence than he had previously believed.
It was a... pleasant surprise.
Therefore, sensing the opportunity at hand, and also not appreciative of the easy way in which she grabbed Prussia's arm, he had taken the chance to speak to her. Despite Prussia being right there.
Also, because Lichtenstein had prompted him.
"Ask her if she still wants to see the wolves." Her kind and melodic voice floated through the ear piece. He did not jolt, though he was slightly startled. In truth, he had temporarily forgotten that she was listening.
So he had.
America had turned so quickly, she had nearly flung Prussia into some on coming visitors. Switzerland sourly wondered if so much shock needed to be shown at a simple question. He was perfectly capable of civility.
Prussia chose that moment to give loose a cackle. He was going to strangle that overly cocky-
"Calm down America, I did not know you like the wolves so much," the Germanic nation commented with a strange twinkle in his eyes. Switzerland's gaze narrowed even more. He was enjoying this.
Something that did not sit right with the Xenophobic nation. It was already extremely hard on him to be out and about with so many people. Part of him wanted to leave right away. Yet, another and larger part of him was not pleased at the idea of leaving America alone with the likes of Prussia. He remembered the last time Prussia had alone time with America.
Her revolution came to mind instantly.
But she did not react poorly to Prussia's interruption, though Switzerland was not precisely keen on it. America laughed instead, smiling brightly, as she waved him off.
"I like lots of animals," she said conversationally.
Switzerland knew that. He also knew that he did not like that America was showing so much attention to the Albino former nation. Just how deep did their friendship run, exactly?
"Most people do," Prussia commented idly. "Oh, you have something right... there you go."
America laughed brightly as Prussia leaned forward.
"Thanks dude."
Something, an unknown emotion, curled tightly in his stomach. It was hot and uncomfortable. His green gaze kept moving to where America held onto Prussia. It was... unacceptable. Switzerland was known as a neutral country, but watching them as they interacted... as Prussia brushed a stray lock of hair away from America's face and she thanked him for it...
Bothered him.
"Then we will see the wolves." He stated. Both a statement and a challenge.
It took all his courage, for he had not so boldly stated himself in many centuries, as Switzerland strode forward.
"Brother?" Lichtenstein questioned lightly. "Is everything alright?"
If America did not mind such... contact...
Switzerland swallowed, steeling his nerves as he reached for her free arm. America's blue gaze was wide, and she seemed to watch him like a deer in the headlights. He sent a glare at Prussia, over the top of America's head, as his hand closed around her arm. Prussia held his gaze.
"Everything is fine." He said neutrally.
OoOoOo
OMG.
OH MY FUCKING GOSH!
America was blinking as she mutely let herself be dragged along by Switzerland. She would have giggled uncontrollably, if her brain weren't in the midst of rebooting.
What just happened?
What just freaking happened?
Holy Hell! He was touching her! Switzerland was touching her.
It was totally okay for a nation to fan girl. Not that she was fan girling.
Okay, maybe a little fan-girling.
Prussia let out a slight laugh at the sight she made, dazed and staring ahead while internally she was gushing over the fact that Switzerland was right there. And, granted there was definitely clothing interfering, but he was totally touching her.
