"You're doing fine for someone who acts like a girl at most times" Marie muttered as she helped her pyromaniac friend walk across the hallway
"Shut up!" the man replied as soon as Marie said that. He saw some female students chuckling and felt really embarrassed for what Marie just said.
Marie chuckled and continued to help John walk until they reached a couch and sat. John was the only one Marie could talk to that day because other than Logan, he was able to resist the fire that badly damaged their other comrades. But even so, he doesn't look like someone in a perfect condition "Hey"
"What?"
"About Bobby…"
"I told you, it's not yours or anybody's fault that he went missing." Marie sighed. Ever since her friend regained consciousness he won't stop apologizing for not being able to help Bobby "So you, Piotr and everyone else should stop apologizing because I'm not blaming anyone."
"Okay?"
"Believe me" she gave him an assuring smile. "For some reason, I am no longer afraid. I am just keeping my hopes up that Bobby is somewhere far from harm."
"Then I guess I should get back to my feet real quick because we need to bring that idiot back here"
"Wait, I thought you're the idiot?"
"What? I'm the genius one" he smirked.
"Yeah, sure" Marie rolled her eyes
"But to be honest, I already miss that dork. He's only been gone for a few days, but I guess something's not just the same when Bobby or even Kitty is missing"
"Yeah…"
Silence filled the room all of a sudden. She remembered that night again, when she saw Bobby and Kitty making out. Of course it was the Neo inside Kitty that did it, but no matter how hard she tries to convince herself of the truth, something inside her is deeply disturbed.
"Hey, Is everything alright?" John asked
Marie suddenly remembered something that Logan said before Kitty went missing "John, may I leave you for just a moment?"
"Huh? Why?'
"I just need to ask Logan something really important"
John nodded, but confusion was written all over his face. Marie ran outside and tried to look for Logan. She went to the professor's office, but he's not there. She checked all the other places where Logan might be like his room or in the kitchen in case he grabbed another can of beer in the fridge, but surprisingly, he's not there. He's not in the mansion, so she started cursing Logan for not being there when she needs him. She glanced at the window and saw her smug old friend sitting under a tree. She quickly ran outside to get what she needs.
"Logan!" she shouted some distance away, but the man seems to ignore her. "Logan!"
"What? Is it time for my morphine shots again?" he asked in his usual tone. "I told you I don't need it"
"It's not that, I need to ask you something" she sounded more calm
"What?"
"About that other timeline that you talked about before"
"Do you think 'Throwback Thursday' or whatever you kids call it is a thing for me? No"
"I'm serious, I need to know what happened in that timeline" her tone had hints of annoyance. Sometimes, she just can't stand Logan's remarks
"Look, that timeline is fucked up. And I don't want to remember any moment of that hell ever again" he said before he stood and started walking away.
"Please, Logan there is just something that I need to know"
"I can't see anything important about that timeline"
"It's about Kitty and Bobby…"
Logan stopped walking and finally understood why Marie suddenly wanted to know about that timeline, where every mutant was treated like some pest to be eradicated. "What do you wanna know?"
"Everything"
"Well, I can only tell you the things that I can remember."
She's calling his name again—her voice is trembling with fear. He kept running trying to find her amidst the destruction. Fire swallowed the horizon and blood stained the once concrete pavement. He turned left and right searching for where her voice is coming from, until finally he saw her crouching under the rubble of a building.
"Kit!" he cried as he ran towards her, but as he approached her, a strong force emanated from her body. She started to chuckle until slowly she burst into laughter. Her voice is agonizing, slowly she stood and turned to him. Her eyes were darker than the night sky, sending fear to his heart.
"Hello Bobby Drake" she said as she raised her hand and made a grasping gesture. Instantly he felt something around his neck—choking him. She began to laugh again; her laugh was even more agonizing than earlier.
"Kit—Ki—K"
He rose from the bed with a loud gasp as his heart pounded wildly inside his chest. He felt frozen tears on his cheeks as his blood flowed fast inside his body. The bed in which was covered with a thin layer of ice. "Another nightmare" he thought. He tried to calm himself down and tried to regain himself. He then noticed that his bed was frozen, but what peaked his attention was the sound of the howling wind outside—there's a blizzard probably? He limped his way to the window to check what's going on. He pushed the snow covered awning and the cold wind instantly blasted on his face; although, he really didn't mind the freezing gusts hitting his face. Nobody's outside, everyone stayed inside their houses away from the life freezing storm, but Bobby caught something at the corner of his eye. There's someone standing on top of a cliff a few distance from the village. He cannot clearly see who it was because of the snow, but he is pretty sure that there's someone on that cliff. The person just stood there and slowly, the dark clouds that hid the sky slowly vanished, then the person just walked away from the edge of the cliff—back to the mountains.
A/N: Can't wait for the summer vacation. Glad that I got this spare time to update. Enjoy :)
