Reasons for writing this story:

I wanted to portray Thread as how I imagine him given other authors and his actions in the book version of Catching Fire; an Inspector Javert-type law enforcer who is dangerous not out of corruption but out of zealotry. One fanfiction had him rape Katniss over interfering with Gale's whipping, which is blatantly OOC given how he didn't arrest her in both the film and the movie. I was inspired by T.J.98's On the Subjugation of Districts; I recommend reading it.

NOT reasons for writing this story:

This is not a pro-Snow story; he was a dictator who deserved to be overthrown and executed, and was not the better alternative to a representative democratic republic under President Paylor. However, if Coin and her communist regime in District Thirteen (similar to Animal Farm, D13 is something of a parallel to the USSR given its sterile atmosphere and brutality; one need only look at canon, with the treatment of Katniss's prep team for just one of them stealing a slice of bread and the construction of snare bombs to target medics and other noncombatants) were allowed to rule, odds are he would have been.

Hobbes has been proven wrong; democracy and freedom are essential for humanity.
