Long Time, No See

This was my first Pretty Little Liars story. It's been about 2 and a half years since I first wrote and published this. Since then, I have started two more stories, both are now part of my PLL Trilogy.

Part 1 is A Friend (or a Dozen) for Life (Little Liars), and part 2, The Demons in My Life (Demons). I would recommend going and reading those two parts before you read any further in this story.

Part one is the liars from 6 years old to High School graduation. Part 2, Demons, explores what exactly has happened to Hanna during the 9 years she had next to no outside contact.

The girls have been out of college for approximately 6 years now. After going their separate ways after graduating, finding jobs and one girl having a family, they all decided to move back to Rosewood. To the place where they can now feel safe due to ~A being behind bars.

"I can't believe it's been six years since we've graduated college. It feels like just yesterday we were saying goodbye, and heading to different corners to go to college. I just can't believe it."

"Yeah, I know. I guess when you're not looking over your shoulder every five seconds or flinching every time you get a text, then time will go by really fast." Spencer replied.

Emily, Spencer, and Aria are already back in Rosewood. Spencer and Toby are together, as well as Aria and Ezra. They have a nine-year-old daughter named Scarlett Olivia Montgomery-Fitz.

Alison and her 10-year-old daughter, Emmaline Claire Dilaurentis, are currently in Maine. They moved there at the beginning of the summer. Emma is going to attend fifth-grade at that school so she and Alison can be close to Tommy before he is deployed overseas for at least the next year or so.

Emily sighs as she toys with the top of her coffee cup. There's one girl that hasn't shown up. One they haven't seen or even heard from in nearly eight solid years.

Hanna Marin.

Spencer notices Emily has gone quiet and narrows her eyes at her friend before speaking. "Em? You okay?" Emily just sighs and nods.

"Yeah, I'm fine. It's just-…" She shakes her head. "It's nothing." She takes a sip of her own coffee and changes the subject. "So, how are you and Toby?"

Toby had talked to the girls recently. He wants to propose to Spencer and just needs the right time to do it. He's thinking of something similar to what Santana did with Britt; just instead of singing and dancing, he may do a game of Scrabble.

"We're great." She beams. "We're doing really well. In fact, Toby is with Mel right now. She and Tay are visiting for the next couple of weeks. They flew in and surprised us last night."

"How are you and Paige doing?"

Emily smiles, she likes Paige, really, she does. But it's not the same as if she were with the one person she loved.

As she goes to answer, she hears the bell on the door ring. Emily glances hoping that would be Aria, but instead she sees a blonde that looked to be about their age.

She knows that face. She'd recognize it anywhere, and when she sees the faces of two little girls beside her it's confirm, without a doubt, who the blonde is.

"Hey Em, are you alri-" Spencer starts to ask, but didn't get to finish as Emily is already halfway to the counter. "Okay then."

Spencer turns and watches her go up to the blonde. "Han?" The moment her name is out of Emily's mouth, Spencer's eyes widen, and she waits for it to be confirmed that the woman is, in fact, her best friend.

The blonde turns to Emily and gives a dimpled smile that is unique to Hanna only. "Emily. Hey." Hanna breathes.

"How are you?" Emily asks.

"I'm good." She replies, nodding.

"Yeah?" She asks, just to be extra sure.

"Yeah," Hanna said.

"It's been way too long. Where have you been?"

"Oh, here and there," Hanna says, and Emily goes to pull her into a hug but stops stopped when she sees her wince.

"Are you okay?" She asks in concern, noticing Hanna rubbing her arms. She gently takes it in her hands and pulls the three-quarter sleeve up. A look of shock crosses her face at the sight of bruises on Hanna's arms.

"Han, who did this to you?" Emily asks.

"No one, Em. It's nothing." Hanna answers, trying to pull her arm out of Emily's grasp, but Emily doesn't let her.

"Hanna, that's not nothing." Emily snaps, and she notices Hanna flinches just a little. Then she sees it. The little bit of fear in Hanna's eyes. "Han, I won't hurt you." She softly reassures.

"I know that. But-" She looked to the little girl beside her and lowered her voice. "Can we just forget about it for now? I promise I'll explain everything. Just not now.

Hanna was going to say something else but was interrupted by the mini-blonde pulling on her hand.

"Mammy, I'm hungry." The little girl says.

"Okay, Skye. Let's go get a table and order our food." Hanna says to the little girl. All Emily can do is watch her. Hanna is obviously with someone, a man perhaps, as it looks like the two little girls are her biological children.

All she can think is: she's too late.

I am using a new grammar processor called "Grammarly". However I am only using the free version, so it only picks up on the basic grammar mistakes (confused words, misplaced/needed commas, etc.) so if you see anything let me know and I will correct it! :)
