Andromeda opened the door to the manor after taking a deep breath. She had been gone from home for almost three days and she knew that her parents would have been crazily worried about her. She took a deep breath as she heard the calling of her name and the sound of rushing footsteps from all over the manor come to the entrance hall. Today was the day that she was going to tell her father everything.

She had been grateful for the pushing back of her wedding from the summer to December but time flew by too quickly and although she had intended to go through with her wedding to Oliver Nott, she had found herself unable to do so. Her intentions had been to say goodbye to Ted and let him go although it would have killed her to do so but instead she came to the realisation that she didn't have a duty to anyone other than herself. Now she was married to Ted and their marriage consummated and she couldn't feel any happier. The choice had been made and deep down, Andromeda knew that today would be the last time that she would ever see her parents and sister again.

"Andromeda, where have you been?" Druella asked.

After hugs and sighs of relief had passed, Andromeda requested a word in private with her father. She followed her father into the study and closed the door behind her, biting her lip as she began to think of how to start. The choice had been made and she didn't want to undo it, whatever the consequences were for her she wouldn't be without Ted; she had been without him long enough. The last few months since their graduation she could have been his wife and maybe pregnant with their child if they had decided on having children. Andromeda knew that her father wouldn't take her news lightly, she knew that she'd be disinherited and she didn't care any more. She didn't need her family, all she needed was Ted.

"Andromeda, you do realise that we have been worried sick about you for the last three days. I hope you got your 'day' of fun out of your system because you're marrying Oliver in less than a fortnight." Cygnus said sternly.

Her father sat at his desk, fingers drumming impatiently on the wood as she tembled with nerves. She opened the door again, knowing that she would need a quick escape when her father's temper would surface.

"Andromeda, what's wrong?" Cygnus asked, crossing his arms as his expression softened slightly.

"Father, you know I love you dearly don't you?" asked Andromeda, uncertainty present in her voice.

"Of course I do." Cygnus replied with a raised eyebrow.

She took a deep breath, "Father I've always obeyed you. I've always done my duty to be a good daughter but I can't keep up with the pretence any longer." Andromeda said firmly.

"Pretence?"

"I pretend that I'm not hurting, that I'm fine with you keeping me locked up in house and that it doesn't make me feel trapped. I pretend that I'm okay with doing what's expected of me and that I'm okay with marrying Oliver." she replied.

He looked rather shocked at his daughter's admission, it had always been the Black way that females didn't venture out into public alone very often. He had thought that by keeping her at home she could learn how to run a household before she was married off; as if it would prepare her for her marriage and do what was expected of her when he could no longer call her his.

"Dromeda, you know my reasons for keeping you at home and you assured me you were fine with marrying the Nott boy." he pointed out.

"But I'm not. He repulses me, he makes me feel sick when he implies what he wants to do to me." Andromeda said, a tear falling down her cheek.

Cygnus rose from his chair and began to pace the study, lost in thought. Andromeda didn't say anything, she knew that her father was taking in the conversation so far but little did he know that there was a lot more to come from her.

"What would you have me do? Everything is arranged, all that's left is the final fittings of the clothes." Cygnus said.

"Father, I don't love him. I love someone else." cried Andromeda.

Cygnus stumbled backwards, hands on the desk to support himself. He had never thought that his daughter could fall in love, she was always so independent and falling in love meant that you depended on someone else.

"Who?" asked Cygnus with a tone of surprise.

Andromeda couldn't help smiling when she thought of her new husband, "His name's Ted Tonks." she replied.

"How long have you been in love with this boy?" asked Cygnus.

"Since my sixth year, I dated him secretly for a year in my seventh. He even proposed to when when we graduated but I told him no," Andromeda explained.

She watched as her father stroked his chin, deep in thought. Cygnus couldn't get over the admissions that were spilling out of his daughter's mouth. He had never heard of the Tonks family before, perhaps it was because their family was one of the lesser pureblood families that kept to themselves are were of little wealth. But the wedding with the Notts was already to go ahead, it was too late now.

"Maybe I could sort something out with Theodore Nott so that you wouldn't have to marry Oliver. If this Tonks lad is from a respectable family-"

"Father, I'm not finished." she interrupted.

Cygnus scowled at his daugthter but with a wave of his hand, he allowed her to continue.

"I told Ted no because my loyalty came down to you at the end of it. Ted understood and we never saw each other again until three days ago. I needed to see him one last time before I entered into this marriage with Nott. But I realised that I couldn't leave him a second time. I would die if I did. I was miserable when I left the first time. Father, I can't marry Oliver because I've spent the last three days as Ted's wife and I returned today to tell you what I've done." Andromeda finished, heart hammering faster and faster in her chest.

Cygnus thought he was going to have a heart attack as he paced up and down in a straight line as he considered what she had just told him. He felt furious that she would marry someone else behind his back without his blessing or permission, that the plans he had made for the last few years were now wasted.

"Andromeda, you've never said anything until now. If you had told me from the beginning that you loved this Tonks boy I would've ended the engagement." Cygnus growled.

Still she looked at him with watery eyes, she knew that he didn't get that there was more to the reason why she hadn't told him from the beginning.

"You wouldn't approve of Ted." she said quietly.

Cygnus went to move closer to her but Andromeda held out her hands, indicating that he should stay where he was.

"What's wrong with the boy Andromeda?" he asked in a raised voice.

She felt as if her heart was going to burst through her chest she was that afraid but it wasn't until her father shouted, "TELL ME!" that she sobbed and yelled the answer, "HE'S A MUGGLEBORN!" that her heart stopped the fast hammering.

Cygnus stumbled back in shock, he hadn't been expecting his daughter to tell him that she had married a mudblood. After everything that he and his wife had taught all their girls, clearly Andromeda hadn't learned anything. Andromeda continued to stand where she was, as if glued to the spot as her father's expression turned to pure rage.

"He's a mudblood?" he hissed.

Andromeda didn't care that tears were pouring down her face, she simply nodded her confirmation to her father.

There was a bang as Cygnus's rage let loose and the ornaments that decorated his study blew into a millions pieces. Andromeda's face had a few cuts from where the pieces flew across the room. Cygnus started to move towards her, his expression growing more angry. She acted on instinct, running from the study and out of the entrance hall and out the front doors. Her father followed, more possessions being blown up in his wake. She lost her footing and tripped on the gravel driveway.

"NO DAUGHTER OF MINE WILL BE MARRIED TO A MUDBLOOD! WE ARE BLACKS AND DO NOT ASSOCIATE WITH SUCH FILTH!" Cygnus shouted.

"But I love him!"

"Love? Love? You will divorce and marry Oliver Nott as arranged, your duty is to me to carry on our bloodline!" Cygnus exclaimed.

"I don't care about blood purity, Ted is more worthy than Oliver Nott!" Andromeda shrieked.

"Then you are no longer welcome in my house, you are not my daughter and you will be written off as a blood traitor if you choose this path." he growled.

"I don't need this family any more." Andromeda said defiantly.

Cygnus stormed back into the house, yelling in rage as he went. Druella came out into the daylight, using her wand to throw two suitcases at her, everything she owned now in those suitcases. Her mother said nothing as she rose off the gravel and picked up the suitcases. Druella went back inside the manor, slamming the door shut as Andromeda turned her back on her childhood home. Now was the start of something new for her, a happier life with the man she loved.
