AN:

Dear Readers,

I've failed you these past weeks, and for that I am sorry. I am here with renewed passion for my work and ideas abounding in my head. Let this be a new beginning and let us all leave any bad blood behind us. This is partially what you all asked for, but I wanted to wrap up this story on a lighter note rather than a flustered one. As always, I do hope you enjoy the read.

All my love,

Lina

P.S. If any of this looks familiar to you - don't worry, it's me on both ends :)

"Catherine…"

His hands fisted in the sheets as his wife kissed her way across his hips. Inside the bedroom, she was the tease Court never saw in public. She'd play with him for hours, always having him gasping and reaching for her. After their reconciliation, this was all they did at night. They fought, yes, but more often than not, candlelight licked up and down their shadowed forms to light their way home. As it was tonight, her body between his legs as she kissed at his hips and belly had him writhing. She rolled up onto her hands and knees, moving up his tall frame to kiss at his mouth. Her loving nip at his lip was soothed by a worshipping tongue. Catherine laughed at his surprised look. Even after all these years, she could still surprise him.

In the afterglow of their tussle atop the sheets, Henry had his wife laid out on his chest. A strong hand skimmed over her side reveling in the tiny sighs she gave off after he passed over a particular spot. To live like this, in harmony with his wife, was everything he'd thought it would be. Her heart and his were tangled together as it always should have been. Quiet moments weren't charged with anger or words unsaid. They were together, but learning to live with one another and Henry was glad for this education in his life.

"How is it that your skin is so soft, love?" His voice was a rumble in his chest and she loved to hear it.

"Forgive me if I keep this one secret from you." She chuckled as she laid a kiss at his chin.

Henry's happy sigh was music to her ear. "I don't think I'd ever tire of touching you like this."

"Touch me all you like, caro." Was her reply as she arched up into his hand. "I don't mind."

"I'm glad you don't." He whispered as he began writing her name across her back with a forefinger.

Pushing back to look at him, she gave him a chaste kiss. "You may want to consider that if you do nothing but touch me, France might burn."

"I'd light this country on fire if you asked me to." His sincerity was so true it was nearly frightening.

"Is that so?" She mused. "Much as I appreciate the sentiment, I'd rather not have gowns full of ash."

"Whatever my lady likes." His mock bow from his position had her laughing as she snuggled back into his embrace.

"I do like the idea of you fulfilling my fancy…" Henry smiled at the sound of her voice.

"What did you have in mind?" He asked, toying with her hair.

"Sing for me like you used to?" Catherine was hopeful as she traced over one of the scars on his chest.

He laughed. "Only if you sing with me."

"You know I don't sing, Henry." Such chastisement in your voice, darling.

"Gone back to 'Henry,' have we?" Oh, you tease.

"Sing for me." Her tone was a mockery of her Queen's voice.

"What would you like to hear?"

"Surprise me."

With that, the King of France serenaded his wife deep into the early morning hours. Eventually, the songs stopped, but the memory of the melody still rang clear throughout the apartments. The new dawn sun rose and stretched its golden beams across the land, but for now, the happily entwined couple lay sleeping dreaming of the other.
