Chapter Twenty-Two: The Abandoned Child

It had not been an easy choice. He didn't make it overnight. He thought about it, and talked about it, and pondered over it for almost two months. The whole time, he kept asking himself questions, and answering them, and then he'd ask them to someone else, and answer them. Finn and Alisha are staying with them, whilst Blaine is preparing for his tour, just to look after Kurt, even though the countertenor claims that he's perfectly fine, and isn't going to do anything stupid. Finn scoffs, and looks at him with a 'I-know-you're-bullshitting-us' look, and Kurt rolls his eyes, and turns back to his assignment. Jeff was sitting at the kitchen table, late on a Tuesday night, when Blaine, Nick, Kurt, Santana, Brittany, Finn and Alisha returned home. It was clear that he had decided his future, and his relationship with Nick, and regardless of what that choice was, Jeff knew that it was going to be the right thing to do. Everyone else headed into the lounge, leaving Nick and Jeff in the dining room, Kurt turning to look at his best-friend, telling him that they're all here if they need. Both boys nodded, and Kurt closed the door behind him. Nick took a seat opposite his boyfriend. They had been talking about everything, Jeff's ideas, whether they could handle the long-distance relationship, when one of them is on the other side of the country. Jeff had kept Nick in the loop with everything. Every idea, every choice, and now his final decision. For one long moment, there was silence, but Nick had a feeling. He just knew that Jeff had made a choice, and it was going to change their whole relationship. Jeff was fighting back the tears. He's not usually the one to cry, but this is difficult. He and Nick have been together for almost six years, and like he said, he didn't make this choice overnight. It was awkward, in the silence, but Nick was, in a way, appreciative of it. It gave him a chance to prepare himself mentally, and emotionally. He had been working on his own ideas as well, and he loves Jeff, more than anything. He would never hold him back from doing anything that he loves, or that he wanted to do. It might hurt, but it will be worth it to see Jeff doing something that makes him happy.

'Nick…'

'Don't…. say it. I know, you're moving to California,'

'Yes, that's what I've decided, but I've also decided something else… I want you to come with me. You can transfer to UCLA. It's all sorted, if you want it,'

'Jeff… I can't move to California, you know that,' Jeff nodded, having already talked about this with Nick, but he took his boyfriend's hands over the table, 'no matter how far apart we are, I will always come back to you,' Nick said, not exactly sure what was happening

'I love you,' Jeff whispered, and heard Nick's hushed reply of 'I love you too,' before they stood and hugged one another.

TWO MONTHS LATER: May 7th, 2016

In the lead up to this wedding, Kurt honestly thought that one, or both brides-to-be, might spontaneously combust. There had been hurdles at every turn, and several metaphorical nails they had to precariously walk over, and yet, they have finally made it to this day: May 7th. The day that Brittany and Santana had chosen to get married. Kurt had been doing surprisingly well, even when Blaine had been away, preparing for tour. Finn and Alisha have been staying with them, and with Alisha almost eight months pregnant, flying back to LA right now, seems ridiculous. But after Brittana get married, they're going to have to go home. They have to get prepared for baby Hudson. They didn't find out the sex, they wanted it to be a surprise, and the only people that know, are Carole and Burt, because they're apparently planning a surprise for when the baby is born. Sue, and Mr. Schuester arrive at the house at noon, and are greeted by most of the New Directions, and Warblers, happily sitting around the living room. As an act of kindness, and to stop their heads exploding (Blaine's words, not Kurt's), they had offered the girls their house to get married. The backyard is big enough and they didn't end up needing anything fancy, just their friends and families. Santana cried when she saw what Kurt and Nick had done to the house, and it was the first, and perhaps the only time, he's ever seen Santana cry. It had been a good distraction for Nick, focussing on the wedding, and on school. They hadn't said much, but after Jeff had left, Nick came to them, and said that he wants to talk, but first he just needs a couple of days to adjust. Kurt understood immediately, Blaine didn't, but they let him be, and eventually, they came to him, and explained exactly what had happened. But they're all here together, and the Warblers have travelled from their various locations to be here, as well as the New Directions. Artie, Mike, Tina, even Sam, who had moved to London, had flown over for this wedding. The only person missing was Jeff, but Nick needn't have worried. Kurt may, or may not have, a surprise up his very stylish sleeves for later.

FLASHBACK – The First Time Wes saw Rachel

He had followed Nick and Jeff to the Lima Bean, not knowing why exactly, they've gone an extra hour out of their way to get coffee. But apparently, Nick was meeting up with his friend from McKinley, and Wes was intrigued, because if Nick has friends from another school, who are also in the Glee Club, well as Head of the Warbler Council, it is his duty to make sure that his Warblers do not reveal any of their set lists to this other school. If David were here, he would probably shake his head, roll his eyes and say 'ye of little faith'. Wes chuckled, missing his best-friend, then followed the other three boys over to a small booth table, where they were waiting for someone named Kurt apparently. Wes sipped his mocha chai latte silently, and listened to the conversation of the three boys sitting around him. He has never been on the same playing level as Nick, Jeff or even Blaine, because he's more into killing zombies in video games, and kissing girls. Not that he has anything against them, no it's not like that at all, it's just that he wishes sometimes that he could relate, but when he tried to flip through his ex-girlfriends Vogue magazine, he felt as if his IQ was dropping rapidly. That's just him though. He knows that Nick, Jeff and Blaine read Vogue, and all three are extremely smart. So smart, they've beaten all other state teams in the national Trivia Competition for the last four years. Blaine was so good, that they had him on the highschool team, when he was still in middle school. It couldn't have been more than five minutes since they sat down, before Nick shot to his feet and was waving frantically at someone. Kurt walked over to their table, followed by two other girls. One, he recognised as Santana Lopez, because Nick had mentioned that when you first meet her, she's terrifying, but as long as you don't cross her, or anyone she cares about, she's nice. The other, for a moment, took his breath away. She was short, brunette, and dressed… uniquely is the only word Wes could think of at that point. But he couldn't take his eyes off her, and she seemed to notice this, interrupting his thoughts to say that she not only has a boyfriend, but she would never date "the competition". Obviously, this girl is the captain of the New Directions, here for the same reason as Wes.

Kurt was immersed in a conversation with the boys, and Santana about something or other, he wasn't paying attention, because he was talking to Rachel, (he had only found out because she was loudly trying to butt in to Blaine's conversation, when Santana told her to shut up), but he wasn't surprised, and he understood where she was coming from. Mostly, he trusts the Warblers, especially Blaine and Nick, but you can never be too sure, especially because when Nick and Jeff are alone together, they tend to get… chatty, and if someone else is near their conversations, then god knows what they will hear. But he tunes them out, and focuses on Rachel's voice. Where others might find irritation, he hears the singer in her. She's talented, but she has a boyfriend. That smacked him in the face, because he hasn't felt like this about a girl since… well he's never felt like this about a girl. That's another smack to the face. Highschool is four years, maybe when they're in college, or they meet up inevitably at a reunion or something, he might have a chance, unless her and her boyfriend have that whole "highschool sweethearts" thing going for them. He tries not to think about it, and when they finally decide to leave, Santana, Kurt and Rachel head back in the opposite direction, and the three Warblers climb into Jeff's car, and head back to school. When they arrive back at school, from the moment he steps out of the car, he's accosted by the Twins and David, asking what happened, and momentarily, he forgets about the beautiful brunette he might have just fallen for, but it doesn't last long. Her memory lingers in the back of his mind, and pops up when he least expects it. She certainly made an impression on him, and if that's the only chance he had with her, then at least he didn't accuse her of being a spy… out loud anyway. Late nights of school, turns into shenanigans, and memories of Rachel seem to dim a little, and Wes knows that it can never be whilst they're in highschool, but dating someone else, just seemed wrong to him, even though he knows it's not. None of his relationships comes close though, and whenever he gets a glimpse of Rachel, at Sectional's, or Regional's, his heart speeds up, and he smiles, and for their senior year, their final Regional's battle, he smiles over at her, and for the first time, she smiles back, a small wave, and then she's re-joined her group. Wes is definitely in love with this girl.

The garden had been set up so that everyone could sit, and face the makeshift wedding arch Blaine and Nick had built together. Kurt had been surprised when he woke up one morning, and went out to the backyard, to find Blaine and Nick, building. His boyfriend had been hopeless in shop class, so it certainly was different. Blaine had played on the 'im-a-sexy-builder' look, and Kurt had tried so hard to not give him the time of day, but come on, it's Blaine. Building. Kurt must admit that it's hot. Like damn boy…. Nick had been enjoying just spending time with Kurt and Blaine, like they used to back in school, and when Kurt and Nick were younger, and they would just hang out, sometimes they wouldn't even need to say anything, they could just sit together, or cloud watch together, and everything would be fine. That would be their bond. Kurt is putting the final touches on Santana's dress, already fully dressed himself, in a tux that Santana had picked for him. He's the best-man for Santana, and Blaine is the best-dolphin for Brittany. Everyone had chuckled when she had said it, but that's what they had taken to calling Blaine now, he's Brittany's dolphin. The guests were being shown to their seats by the Twins, who had promised that they would be on their best behaviours, and that they wouldn't get up to anything during the ceremony. Kurt knows that the twins are more afraid of angry Blaine, so when they tried to mess with him this morning, they felt the wrath, and have vowed to be good all day. Kurt and Nick made a bet that they wouldn't last longer than three hours. It must be grating on them, because Elijah keeps moving around, and trying to keep himself busy, and Emmanuel has been coming to Kurt and telling him all his really bad jokes, which usually means that they're bored, and when they're bored, things get ugly. But so far, so good. Finally, Kurt stands, and tells Santana to turn around so he can check that everything is good. When she's back facing him, he pulls her into a hug, and smiles, telling her that she's beautiful. Blaine knocks on the door, and pokes his head in, saying that they're ready, and Santana nods, taking Kurt's hand, as he leads her to the backdoor. She's breathing deeply, but this is what she's wanted for so long, it's going to be perfect.

Sue is their minister, and the Schuster's are part of the wedding party, excitedly standing at the other end of the aisle, waiting Santana's ascent. Brittany also looks radiant, and Kurt says to himself that he did a good job of their dresses, having made them from scratch, whilst also completing assignments, and three practical courses. This, all whilst Blaine was away, preparing for his tour, and his brother and Alisha had gone back to LA, to prepare for the birth of the baby. Santana grips his hand tight as they make their way down the back steps, and to the end of the path. Everyone stands when the processional starts, and then they're walking towards Brittany at the other end of the garden. Blaine catches Kurt's eye and winks, the countertenor winking back, smiling at Santana who smirked. Sue asked who gave Santana to Brittany, and Kurt stated that everyone here did, to which Sue nodded, and smiled. He kissed her cheek, joined her hand with Brittany's, and took his place behind Santana at the altar. It was a quick ceremony. Mostly, Sue had told a story, and Santana and Brittany had said their vows, and then they were pronounced married, to cheers and clapping and laughter. They returned inside for the reception, and Kurt and Blaine snuck off to the study to put the final preparation in place for Nick's surprise. Santana and Brittany had been thrilled when Klaine had told them their plan, and were more than happy to accommodate it on their wedding day, "spreading the love" was what Santana had said brazenly. It was about five minutes later, Kurt and Blaine returned to the living room, and took a seat together on the couch, Blaine curling up to Kurt, listening to the New Directions tells stories about Santana and Brittany, and then Wes tell stories about meeting Santana and the New Directions. Kurt just listened, taking it all in, and smiling to himself, running his fingers lightly through Blaine's hair. At seven o'clock, there was a knock on the door. Kurt told Nick that he had to answer it, because he wasn't moving and Blaine was comfortable, and whilst he sighed and rolled his eyes, he stood to answer the door, not expecting to see who was standing on the other side of the door, bags in hand.

'Jeff!' Nick said, shocked and surprised

'Hey babe, I heard there was a wedding happening, thought you might like a date,' Jeff said, stepping over the threshold, where Nick wrapped his arms around his neck and hugged him tightly, Jeff returning the hug

'I've missed you so much. Wait, you planned this whole thing with Klaine, didn't you?' Nick asked, raising an eyebrow

'Innocent until proven guilty. I must consult my lawyer before answering any further questions. Right Kurt?' Jeff replied, turning to look at Kurt and Blaine, who were standing in the doorway

'You're innocent, now go and do not so innocent things, but remember, we have a lot of guests,' Kurt replied, pulling Blaine back into the lounge, grinning to himself, before pulling Blaine in for a kiss.

FLASHBACK – Kurt's First Day at Dalton/Last Day at McKinley

Santana and Brittany helped him clean out his locker, and helped Nick carry all Kurt's things out to his car. They had been dreading this day, but also happy that it was finally here. Kurt is going to move to Dalton, where he'll be safe in the strict no-bullying policy. He'll be safe with Nick, and surrounded by people who won't treat him the way the New Directions have for the last few months. They won't see him as invisible. Unless he lets them, and he probably will because he's good at that. They walk down the hall towards Glee, knowing that Finn will want to say goodbye, even though, as Kurt pointed out, they'll see each other on weekends, when Kurt comes home. He's not sure anyone else in Glee will care, but at least he won't have left any corners unturned. They walk into the room, and it goes silent. Schuester in the first one to speak, saying that he's sorry, that he should have done more for Kurt, to protect him, to make sure he didn't get left behind, that that he hopes Kurt excels at his new school. Kurt thanks him, because he never had a problem with Mr. Schuester. Finn hugs him, and tells him to text when he's settled, and all that brotherly stuff. Mercedes comes over to hug him, and say goodbye, and so does Puck, which surprises Kurt a little, but he accepts it regardless. Whilst the others don't make eye contact with them, Kurt tells them that he will miss them all, and thanks them, wishing them well, before following Brittany, Santana and Nick out of the room. He doesn't feel too bad about leaving McKinley, especially since no one really seemed that bothered, except a select few, and now looking back on it, he sees that it was a moment of closure for him in a way. The drive to Westerville is silent. Nick talks about their dorm room, and classes, and the Warblers, and how it's going to be awesome to finally get to go to school together, and that they're going to graduate together. Kurt nods, and smiles, but doesn't really say anything. His brother is going to drive the navigator to Dalton tonight, and his parents are coming to bring over the last of his things, and pick Finn up. He supposes that's the best way to do this.

The brick building seems bigger than it did when Kurt visited Nick all those times before. The grounds are huge, and Worthington House is the closest to the entrance, meaning they have the largest student car park, of all four Common Houses. Worthington is the home for the Warblers, and even though Kurt technically isn't a member yet, Nick and his father apparently pulled some strings, to get them to let Kurt room with Nick. Tomorrow, he will begin his first official day at Dalton Academy. First day in his new uniform, first day at a new school, the first day without Santana and Brittany. If anything had prepared him for this, it was the knowledge that in a year and a half, he would be graduating, and he can go and find his mother. Find answers to his questions. Like why she left, and was it something that he did. The big questions like 'is she coming back' or 'does she miss him and dad'. He has a list of question written in one of his notebooks, along with an itinerary. He's going to find her. He has a list of all her last known locations, and he's going to narrow it down, until he has the exact location. Nick and his father keep trying to talk him out of it, tell him that it will bring more pain than closure, but he blocks them out because he knows that he needs his questions answered, and he needs closure. Santana and Brittany stay for a while, until Burt and Carole arrive to pick up Finn, and then they all leave together, Kurt and Nick re-arrange their room, and Kurt sets his side up just the way he likes it. At about six pm, Jeff enters the room, spotting Kurt reading over some of the assignments Nick had pre-prepared for him, and apologizes for just walking in. Kurt smiles, knowing Jeff and Nick, and asks them if they want him to leave, to which they both shake their heads, and state that they're going to watch a movie and Kurt is welcome to join. That's how they spend the rest of their night.

FLASH-FORWARD – 2020

Walking back into William McKinley Highshool was surreal for all the former New Directions members. Mr. Schuester, now the principal of McKinley, had sent them all an invite, asking them to come back to Ohio, and celebrate the tenth anniversary of the Glee Club. Kurt and Blaine had even been invited, and although the latter was initially reluctant to return to Lima, Blaine had made a valid point when he reminded Kurt that if he didn't go, he would regret it in the long run. He knew that his boyfriend was right, and part of him wanted to go anyway. But as they walked through the double doors, and stepped into the halls, Kurt clasped Blaine's hand tighter, and started taking deep breaths to calm his racing heart. He could hear music coming from the Music room, and the sounds of voices. Blaine was beside him, but he also wished that Nick was here, because he's a much a part of New Directions as Kurt was towards the end. Blaine pushed the door to the music room open, and was greeted by Santana, hugging him tightly, and then Brittany. Finn and Alisha were sitting at the back of the room, chatting with Rachel and Wes. Kurt took a picture, and when they looked at him oddly, he just said it was to remind himself that this would never have happened ten years ago. Rachel poked her tongue out at Kurt, and then they all laughed. Two-year-old Matthew, Kurt's nephew, was curled up to his dad. Finn had adapted to fatherhood, a lot quicker than anyone thought he would. Burt had said that it was the Hummel way, and Carole said that it was because Finn was naturally good with children. Kurt had rolled his eyes, but now that he has seen his brother in action, he believes they're both right. There was just a lot of catching up, and chatting, and Kurt made his way over to where Mr. and Mrs. Schuester were chatting with Sue and Coach Beiste. Kurt had just started a conversation with Emma, when the doors burst open, and the Warblers walked in, cheerfully announcing their arrival, with the Twins popping party poppers, and throwing confetti. Kurt, Wes and Blaine just laughed, along with Rachel, but the others just looked confused. Schuester explained that the Warblers were a large part of their lives as well, looking directly at Kurt when he said this, and Kurt sent a silent thanks to his former Glee teacher.

FLASH-FORWARD - 2022

It had been a surprise. At 25, he never thought he would get to experience all the things that he has in his short life. But he and Blaine have been discussing it, and they think it's the right time. They've both graduated, and Kurt is working at a law firm, Nichols and Howell, and Blaine is about to record his third album, Alive Again. They've had the luxury of travelling all around the world on Blaine's sold out tours, and in that time, they've become uncles, twice over. Finn and Alisha got married on April 27th, 2018. They have a one year old, Kailey, and a four-year-old, Matthew. They're currently living in Los Angeles, where Finn is working as a production assistant on an upcoming blockbuster, and Alisha is teaching English and Literature at a local highschool. Santana and Brittany moved from New York, to Boston after graduation, and Brittany got a job managing a business, which was created by Kurt and Finn, formally named Hudmel and Co. Santana is working as an acting coach, whilst following her performing career, and is auditioning for a Broadway Musical that Rachel has apparently written. They have a baby, two-year-old Zara, and are currently expecting another child, to be born towards the end of the year. David moved to New Zealand, and is currently working at a small business, Zapp Co. which is a travel branch, and is living with his partner, Kyle Sutton. They've been together four years. Santana and Quinn are chatting about their respective jobs, laughing about something that happened in highschool, when they're all called to attention by Kurt. He stands at the top of the stairs, and tells them to put their hands together, for the Duval's, to which the whole entire room broke into cheers, as Nick and Jeff descended the stairs at the Chilton Hotel in New York, just arrived from Los Angeles, and grinning ear to ear. It had been a long road. After Jeff had moved to California, they had decided that breaking up was going to be less painful at the beginning, than halfway through, and it wasn't until they had bumped into one another again, two years ago, that they realised their spark was still there. On January 3rd, 2019, they got married, and Nick moved to California, and finished the remainder of his college education at UCLA. They've been together for a long time, married for just over a year, and have decided to move back to New York.

Wes, on the other hand, had an announcement of his own. He and Rachel have been together for four and a half years, and since then, both have changed a lot. Rachel is still working on Broadway, but has taken some time off the stage to have a baby, Jamieson Lee Montgomery, who is six months old, and is now writing her own play, hopefully to be opening sometime next year. After graduation, Wes had received an amazing opportunity, to travel the world, on the offer of his law firm, to lend a hand to some less fortunate, and bring some light to people's lives, who may not have the chance, or luxury, or affordance to do that. So after today, they're getting on a plane, and leaving for six months, for a round the world trip. Rachel is chomping at the bit to get going, wanting Jamieson to have all the experiences she never got, but also is terrified of travelling with a six-month-old baby. It's just sinking in, the news about Wes and Rachel, when Burt and Carole arrive, followed by Finn, Alisha, and their children. Kurt rushes over to greet his brother and sister-in-law, and his niece and nephew, happily chatting with them about their trip, and where they're staying. The house that he, Blaine, Nick and Jeff had stayed in for college is still where Kurt and Blaine live today, although they have been talking about moving to LA, or London. Kurt has been offered a job at a law firm in London, so he and Blaine are currently discussing their options. After many years of turmoil, and depression and just having a sucky life, Kurt has finally put to rest everything he's been dealing with. He's been doing a lot better, for real this time, even Dr. Zucker had said during their sessions that he's noticed that Kurt is doing better. They're all about to head upstairs, to the party that Santana had planned, when Blaine calls their attention again, and everyone stops, and looks over at the former Lead Warbler, who is grinning oddly. Blaine turns to Kurt, and in the back of his mind, the lawyer knows what this is about, but he doesn't immediately go to that, until it happens in front of his eyes. Blaine takes his hands, and looks around the room, before removing the ring from Kurt's hand.

'I gave Kurt this ring five years ago. I had engraved on this ring, a date, that no one else, but myself and the jeweller knew about. When I gave you this ring Kurt, I made a promise, that the date on this ring, would be the date that I proposed to you. You have no idea how difficult it has been to hold myself to this date. I've wanted to just blurt it out so many times over the years, but I knew that I had to wait. But, now I don't have to wait anymore. So, Kurt Elijah Hummel…. Will you marry me?' Blaine asked, already down on one knee, holding a ring in a box, and looking at Kurt who was on the verge of crying happy tears, whilst everyone else in the room just watched

'Yes Blaine… of course I'll marry you,' Kurt replied, as Blaine put the ring on his finger, and stood to kiss his now fiancée.

'September 3rd aye Blaine… you know, if I remember correctly, that's the exact date that you and Kurt first met. How did I not think of that before?' Wes said, mostly to himself, before walking over and hugging the newly engaged couple

'I think we better get to that party and celebrate,' Puck shouted, ushering everyone into the party room, where they congratulated Kurt and Blaine

Late into the night, Kurt found himself standing on the balcony, overlooking New York. He leant on the railing, and closed his eyes, smiling. It's not a cold night, but the breeze is just nice enough that it's comfortable to be out here without his jacket on. He had removed it earlier in the evening, to dance, and didn't feel the need to put it back on. The city is peaceful a night. Sometimes, he'll sit out the back of their house, on the deck, and just look up at the stars. He doesn't consider himself overly sentimental, but this is one of those moments he would be guilty of it. He's so engaged in his own thoughts, that he doesn't hear anyone else join him, until Blaine and Nick are standing either side of him. He smiles, and asks them why they're out here, when they should be in there. Knowing they're going to answer something ridiculous, Kurt just grins and laughs, and it's pure and happy, and it feels amazing. They just stand there, side by side, looking out over the city, taking it all in. About two hours ago, Blaine had told Kurt that he wants to move to London. He said that he can make music anywhere, and that Kurt has done a lot for him, now it's time for Blaine to return to the favour. They'd discussed doing this for the right reasons, and ended up both deciding, absolutely, that they're moving to London. In two days, they're moving to London. They're going to tell everyone shortly, but Kurt just needed a moment to take it all in. Most of his life, he wanted to find his mother. He was the Abandoned Child. Now, he has a family, and he has put to rest that part of his life. He's no longer the Abandoned Child. He's no longer a child. He's graduated from highschool, and college, and now he's moving to London. Blaine squeezes his hand, and then they move away from the balcony. Just as they're all about to return to the party, Nick sighs, and Kurt knows that means he's about to say something. He turns back to face his best-friend, holding Blaine's hand still.

'You're moving to London, aren't you?' Nick asks, breaking the peaceful silence, turning to face his best-friends

'Yeah, we're moving to London,' Blaine replied, and Kurt wrapped an arm around Blaine's waist and pulled him close

'I'll miss you both you know. It won't be the same,' Nick said, forcing the tears back

'I'll miss you too Nick, but you can always come and visit. There's plenty of room for you and Jefferey, and besides, we'll be back in New York for our wedding,' Kurt replied, smiling as Blaine pressed a kiss to his temple

'Well, let's make the most of your last night in New York. I think the Twins have something planned. Care to join?' Nick asked, raising an eyebrow, smirking when Blaine and Kurt looked at each other, having a silent conversation, before running back inside, laughing

They had bought massive water balloons, and water guns, and just as Nick re-entered the room, he was "shot" in the face, by Jeff, who smirked, and then Nick was off, grabbing water balloons, and chasing his husband. Kurt had never really been one for the shenanigans of the Twins, but as he walked over to a bucket, and picked up a water balloon, holding it in his hand, and turning to Blaine, he finally found that inkling of joy that came from all the stupid things the Twins had ever done. Blaine was backing away from Kurt, holding his hands out, and reminding Kurt that they're engaged now, he can't just be throwing water balloons at his fiancée. Kurt smirked, and threw the water balloon, hitting the wall directly above Blaine's head, and drenching him. Kurt raised an eyebrow, pressed Blaine against the wall, and kissed him, before leaning down to pick up a discarded water gun, and turning to shoot Wes, before Wes could shoot him. Blaine took this opportunity to make a run for the balloons, and popped one over Kurt's head, shouting that they were even, before kissing him and running off. Kurt just laughed, and went over to where his father, Carole, the Schuster's, Sue, Coach Beiste, and some of their Dalton teachers, and Dr. Zucker were standing. Burt asked if this was something that happened often at Dalton, and without saying a word, Kurt turned to the group, said that if you mess with the Twins, they're going to mess with you, then sprayed them all with water. He laughed, and then took off, returning moments later, handing them a bucket filled with water balloons, and telling them to aim for people. Burt took the bucket, pulling Kurt in for a hug, and smiling. Once again, Kurt took off, this time after Finn, who was taunting his brother. The hotel wasn't very happy with them, but that's another story.

Kurt and Blaine got married, at the Chilton Hotel in New York, on July 7th, 2023, before returning to London. After a long career, and tours, Blaine decided that he would shift his focus to a different side of music, and went back to college, to became a music teacher, going on to work with some of the best talent at Oxford University in London. On March 29th, 2024, Ella Marie Hummel-Anderson was born, via surrogate, and two years later, on August 21st, 2026, Delilah 'Della' Kate Hummel-Anderson was born, also via surrogate. Kurt published a book, titled The Abandoned Child, early in 2027, and it was a hit. They also adopted two shelter dogs, named Squeaky and Charlene by the girls. They have a great life in London, and are in constant contact with their friends and family. In fact, Nick and Jeff are coming to stay with them for Christmas this year, and they're bringing their boys. As for the rest of the Warblers, and New Directions, well every now and then, they'll pop over and see their favourite couple, and sometimes, Kurt and Blaine will make a surprise visit back to Westerville and Lima, when they're stateside. From the start of a journey, to the end, their lives have been great so far. I would write that they lived happily ever after, but that's only something that you put in fairy tales, and this is anything but that. So instead, I'm going to leave you with this:

There are so many things that life throws at you, that try to hold you down, and not let you get back up. You can't let those things win. You must keep fighting. Yes, it will be painful. Yes, it will be difficult, but the best things in life don't come to us, served on a golden platter. They come from fighting for what we believe, using our voices, and being ourselves. They come from our strength, and the strength of others. We should be helping others, not tearing them down. Don't let anything silence you. Do not be afraid to speak up, ask for help. It does not now, and never will, make you weak. Asking for help is not a weakness, it is a strength. It is your own courage, and perseverance shining through, those who go through life, not asking for help, do not benefit from anything. We all have different lives, different things we love, different types of goals. But there is one thing we have in common… we are all human, we all have the right to love, and be loved for who we are. So be who you are. Do not let others dictate who you should be, or who you should love, or what you should look like or wear. Dress how you want, love who you want, be who you want, and shine. Do not abandon your inner child. Dance around you room to an old song just because. Leave the house without makeup, and don't give a damn what anyone thinks. Live your life to the fullest, the way you want to, because it's your life, and you only get one. #lovewins so love everyone, including yourself. #justdoyou.

The End.
