Hello all! Sorry for long time no update 😘 here's the next chapter! I had a brainwave when in was watching 'A Decent Proposal' when Ryder was eating all that pork. I was like he would have had to been put under nill by mouth for a few hours before doing the surgery, so I came up with this. This starts just after Mel arrives and kisses Joe.

"Excuse me, is this Ryder's aunt?" The surgeon asked.

"Yeah that's me. What's wrong? Is he okay?" Mel replied in worry.

"There's a little issue with the anaesthetic. We can't put him under anaesthesia until his stomach is empty. We would put him on nill by mouth, but his appendix is close to bursting, so we will have to perform it under local anaesthetic, so he will be awake during the procedure." The doctor explained.

"Will it not hurt when you yank his appendix out?" Lennox asked.

"It will but we have to do it as soon as possible. One of you can stay in the room when he has his surgery."

"I'll go." Mel volunteered and Joe and Lennox nodded in agreement. Mel followed the surgeon to the operating room. Ryder was lying there, screaming in pain.

"Hey hey, you're okay." Mel held his hand, which seemed to calm him down a little. The surgeons put an oxygen mask on him. Mel stroked his cheek comfortingly. The surgeons began to put Ryder under local anaesthetic.

"This will take a few minutes to work. You won't feel pain when we make an incision in your stomach, but it will be painful getting your appendix out." The surgeon explained.

"I...I'm gonna feel it." Ryder stuttered.

"I'm gonna be here the whole time. It'll hurt a little bit, don't worry about it. I'll be right here if you need me." Mel stroked his hair comfortingly.

"We are just going to make a cut. It's just going to be a few inches long. You won't feel a thing." The surgeons began to cut Ryder open. She then noticed how awful Ryder looked. He was very pale and his face was damp with tears and sweat due to his high temperature. Mel rubbed her thumb against his hand, comforting him.

"Right this is going to hurt, but try not to move." The surgeon was now going to remove his appendix. Ryder looked at Mel in fear. She cupped his face as he scrunched it up in pain.

"Ow!" He shouted, tears falling from his eyes. He held Mel's hand tighter, Mel began to calm him down.

"That's it Ryder, you're doing really well. Your ok." Mel comforted her nephew, kissing his head through his messy hair. She began to comb his hair with her fingers as he let out another few yells. "Honey I'm here for you."

"It hurts so much." He cried, looking at Mel in pain.

"You're so brave for going through this you know that. I'm so proud of you honey. You're going to be fine, everything's gonna be alright." Mel kissed his forehead.

"That's done now. We're nearly done stitching and then we're gonna give you a morphine drip." The surgeon explained. She looked for a vein in his hand and inserted a cannula. She hooked him up to an IV drip and then they took Ryder to his ward. He was given a private room. A nurse came and she hooked him up an oxygen mask and a heart monitor. She checked his blood pressure and heart rate.

"His blood pressure and heart rate are normal. I can get him something to eat." The nurse said.

"Will you be able to get him some toast?" Mel asked. The nurse nodded and Mel thanked her and she left.

"It's all over. You're just gonna be in a bit of pain now and then you're gonna go home after a few days. Mel decided to ease Ryder to sleep. Ryder shut his eyes and began to drift off. Mel rubbed her thumb against his hair to keep him calm.

"Ow" he winced in his sleep.

"Calm down honey, you're okay." Mel whispered into his ear.

Who else LOVED Nick Robinson in Jurassic World! He did an amazing job and he's getting pretty famous as he has another big project called The Fifth Wave coming up and it's an adaptation of the book. The film is gonna be The Hunger Games size as it has sold way more than THG had by this point and Nick is the male lead opposite Chloë Grace Moretz.
