Icy sat cross legged on the floor. If she was gonna be an avatar worthwhile she was going to have to do at least some meditation on behalf of the air nomads. At least that's what her mentor, Hi-Kang (the grandson of the Great Uniter) had told her.
The man wasn't by any means an airbender himself—he was a well-esteemed metalbender—but he had a large fascination with their culture. She assumed that was the reason he took on the role of both her earthbending master and her airbending master.
Icy wasn't all too keen on airbending…but she much preferred it to fire. The woman worked best in areas where water was concerned. And due in part to Hi-King pretty great with earthbending too.
With a sigh she adjusted her position.
She'd do it this time. No distractions.
That's pretty much what she always declared before getting distracted by either the outside world or her own thoughts.
She took a deep breath and shut her eyes. As opposed the serene images Hi-Kang told her to conjure up in her mind, the first image that came to her mind was none other than that of the airbender Bloom. Her long, odd orange hair flowing about as she practiced the ancient art.
She opened her eyes, blinked twice, and tried again.
The airbender's face invaded her mind again, this time with more force. She was doing some dance native to the air nomads—her hair fluttered all to gracefully. She was smiling…big blue eyes bright and twinkling.
Icy had seen her preform this dance in reality so it registered immediately that her mind sought to replay the memory in slow motion.
She shook her head. The blasted airbender! So invasive! Even when she's not around.
Icy ran her fingers through her hair. She readied herself to make another attempt when a series of footfalls echoed through the air temple.
The avatar flopped herself into a laying position and let out a long sigh. At this rate she'd never get anything done where airbending was concerned.
"Hey!" Called a familiar voice. "I hope you're not busy…"
As if her mental vision of Bloom wasn't enough…
The girl flounced into the room.
"Well, I was trying to do some meditating." Icy replied.
"And...what happened?"
"You did." Icy muttered.
"Am I that much of a pest?" Bloom questioned.
"Something like that." Icy shrugged.
Bloom shot her a pout. "Well lucky for you I'm here for real now so you really can't get rid of me now."
It's not like I could get rid of mental you either…Icy thought to herself. "So what brings you all the way to this particular temple?"
"Well, I heard you were here. You were a ton of fun when we met at the Firelord's birthday party." She paused. "So I thought I'd talk to you again."
Icy snorted. The thought of the Firelord throwing a birthday party alone was amusing…even more so now that she followed through with it. Furthermore that she was now talking to the strange airbender woman she met at said party.
Not that she completely objected.
The red-head fascinated her.
Ever since that night a week ago, she'd been thinking of her and her oddly colored hair.
"I could leave if you don't want me here." Bloom suggested.
"No, it's alright I was actually hoping to see you again. Besides meditation isn't my thing anyhow, perhaps an airbending master would work a bit better." Icy winked.
"I'd be honored to help you master earthbending! We could be like Aang and his friends…or Korra…"
"Or we can be our own little two-woman group." Icy pointed out.
"Yeah, I guess that works too."
"Great, so when do we start?"
"Now! First thing you have to do…finish meditating!"
