A/M: kind of bored and tired so I wrote this little one shot. It is set after Marcia gets it into her head that Milo has taken an interest in Hildeguard (hope i spelled that right I am too lazy to go look it up). Enjoy, review, and have a happy thanks giving!

Marcia rode the spiral stairs back to her rooms and tried her hardest to keep her face expressionless. The last thing she needed was someone asking if she was alright. She ignored the ghost if Jillie Djinn, who wailed forlornly at her, as she strode towards her bedroom. Marcia flung herself on her bed without bothering to remvoe her boots. She curled up on the matress and tugged the covers over herself and blinked back tears.

Of all the wizards in the tower Hildeguard had to be the one Milo chose. Marcia liked, possibly had liked, Hildeguard, and with her position as main duty wizard Marcia would have to see her multiple times every day. To top it all off, she wasn't even very pretty. Certainly she wasn't ugly and she was a wonderful person once you got tot know her, but Milo never paid a woman enough attention to get to know her if she didn't fall into his descrition of pretty.

Marcia bit her lip in an effort not to sob. She wasn't sure if she was sad or angry. Sad that Milo was once again stringing her along, angry at him for being so uncaring, and angry at herself for letteting herself get her hopes up. Every time without fail Milo manages to find a way to hurt her, and intentional or not Marcia couldn't stand this constant back and forth with him.

She hoped that, maybe, one day she would remember that nothing went as planned for her particularly romance. Marcia had never had luck with love, she had a few boyfriends shortly before and at the beginning of her apprenticeship, but they had all ended either with her heart broken or with an astonising amount of apathy.

Marcia took a deep shuddering breath and slowly sat up. She took several more until she was certain her emotion fit was over. She only spent her evenings with Milo because, when he was paying attention, he was kind and treated her like a true lady and not some woman he found wandering around. He looked at her like she was something precious that needed to be taken care of, and then he would do something like briefly wondered if he had ever done such a thing to Cerys and brushed it off as likely not and even if he had she was not going to ask Milo, and Cerys was more likely to accept Sarah and Silas as her family before she told Marcia something personal.

Marcia sighed and got to her feet. She shuffled to her bathroom and splashed her face with cool water trying to rid her cheeks of the emotional flush of color. She scolded herself saying she was far to busy to waste time on such a trivial matter, but as she thought about it again she felt a pang in her chest and wanted to go back to her bed. She took several more calming breaths to keep herself from falling to bits again.

She stood at the sink for a number of minutes holding herself up by the counter top before she trusted herself to leave her room. As she stepped back into the rest of her apartment and went through her to do list she was for once grateful that Marcellus had Septimus and she didn't have to explain to him what had just happened.

Marcia stood up straight, readjusted her robes and strode out of her apartment as though nothing out of the ordinary had occurred. She was not going to let Milo run her day off the rails and if she had to bury herself in work to get him off her mind then so be it.

A/N: Also I have this weird idea for a mofia AU, if anyone wants to know more or thinks it sounds cool and thinks i aught to write it just say so.
