Disclaimer: I don't own Katekyo Hitman Reborn or any of the characters.

He was the World's Greatest Hitman.

His enemies trembled in fear of him, cursed and respected his name in the very same breath. People were in awe of him, they envied him and his skill and charisma, his charms and good-looks.

Even being turned into an infant did not halt the weight of his reputation or influence in any way.

He was the Sun Arcobaleno, the strongest of the cursed infants. Not a single person held his loyality, he has and would always be a freelance hitman. The Sky Arcobaleno was his boss in only the loosest sense, his protection borne out of duty and loyalty, a feeling of slight fondness that he felt for Luce and her successors.

He had never bonded to a Sky before, never found someone worthy enough to dedicate his life and skills to, his will and unwaring strength.

Reborn had repeated that sentence a thousand times, a million times until he himself nearly believed it.

''There is no sky pure and strong enough, charismatic and bright enough to draw me in. I am the World's Greatest after all.''

Because if he did, one day he might forget those blue, brilliantly blue eyes that would always catch his gaze with a simple look. Those eyes that would mirror the shining azure sky, and see into him, into his very depth and very soul. That strong, unwavering gaze that could make him halt in his steps and take a shuddering breath, and would always always overwhelm him with her compassion and acceptance.

In his mind he could see her laugh, twirling and turning beneath the shining sun, smiling sun, her golden hair would catch it's rays flowing like a golden curtain around her.

And then she would smile, stretching out his hand, beckoning him closer. And he would follow her will, heart unburdened in a way it had never been before and would never be again.

He had sworn he would protect her. He had kneeled and vowed it with his flames and his blood, until he could feel it being burned into his very flesh.

She was his. His sky. And he was hers. Her sun.

''I will always be there. I will be your sun, protecting and healing you until I draw my last breath.''

His life was hers.

His guns were hers.

His heart was hers.

His love was hers.

He belonged to her.

So Reborn lied, because then he could pretend, pretend that he in fact had not lost his sky. Failed in his vows to protect what was his to shield.

He glared and snarled and smirked and mocked, and no one ever suspected.

And sometimes, when he looked up at the bluebluehereyeshereyes sky, he would hear her laugh again, see her smile again, hear her melodic voice again.

''Ne Reborn, I will always love you. Forver and all eternity. For you are my most shining sun.''

He would clench his fist and wonder, when would the redredredherbloodherblood vanish from his wretched hands?

Reborn would remember, and pull the trigger one more time, if only to cover his hands with blood that was not hers.

For years Tsuna would wonder where his advisor went when the sky was clear, and the sun bright.

And flowers would gently shift in the warm wind, a white marbel stone under a shaded tree.
