Hello, everyone. ChaosX97 here. A bit of a major announcement. For anyone who's already sweating bullets, please read this through to the end.

I know everyone is looking forward to Dragon's Hero's continuation, or maybe not everyone. I have gotten the less than warm reception from some people for various reasons. I have been at work on other projects, including those in real life, but I have also gotten the chance to research proper writing. I owe it to some amazing literary geniuses out there and thanks to them I have been able to give this a good amount of thought.

A lot of you may not like what I am about to say, but bear with me. This could still lead to something good. Nevertheless, it is my decision as a writer, having evolved a great deal compared to where I began.

It is a common thing for many users on to make their stories up as they go along. Chapter by chapter, making up new plotlines along the way and letting our stories take interesting twists that not even we would have expected. For a lot of people, it is simply to put their wild fantasies on the page. Many take similar routes with very similar twists, though that end up leading to similar plotlines and a sense of predictability. What's worse is that structure is lost and confusion is created, and that leads to a fair distance between readers.

Some may take criticism from this because it would apply to stories they've written. I hope that you will instead use this as fuel to consider the path of a more powerful narrative. To be frank, though, the fanfic I am targeting in question is my own, this one.

Dragon's Hero is, for lack of a better term, a hot mess.

I have received criticism in the past that this story is as dark as an empty void and doesn't lead anywhere. Though that criticism wasn't put in the kindest of terms, it was correct when I stepped back and looked at my work detached from the writer's bias. What's worse was that what I had planned was, well, predictable. Everyone who's seen the movie knows it would have played out as it did there, and ripping from the movie, whether its plot ideas or simply dialogue, is something I can't stand. It shows a lack of originality.

The worst part of course is that it's been a long time since I started this, and when I did, it was with no game plan, at all. No plotline, no scene ideas, no character arc or theme choices. It has simply become tiresome with all my other projects and duties and things going on to constantly restart the creative process and get myself invested in a story just to get a single chapter that has no goal or real weight when compared to the rest of the narrative. A truly good piece should be something you've planned out from the very start, where you've got so many surprises spun from the deepest depths of your imagination and everything is so emotional and calculated the story writes itself by the time you put the first word down. Dragon's Hero is… not that story.

Let me just say this, though. If you've read this far and are dreading the words 'I'm cancelling this story' – STOP RIGHT THERE.

Yes, when getting technical, this is a cancellation, of sorts. But I have told people in the midst of a lack of updates that I would not cancel this story, and I'm not. Let's boil it down as simple as we can. Dragon's Hero, when you get right down to it, was just another 'Hiccup Runs Away' fanfic in many terms. Nothing a lot of people haven't seen before, albeit with some darker and possibly cliché twists.

Here's the thing, though. People have also heard me talk about the next HTTYD project I have in the works. That one could just be boiled down to 'HTTYD with an OC.' Again, nothing new. I wasn't really sure when I would get around to writing that one. And I had also stated that one was going to be an analysis of other characters, but I had wondered if it might have leant a little too much in that direction. Many will remember an older AN I posted that I had succumbed to bias and let my judgment be clouded as to these guys and I wanted to fix that.

But I want to do things right as a proper writer. I look at what I post here like I am writing an honest-to-goodness novel. I do believe in the story I have written so far, but I feel and have the motivation to make it into something greater than what it is already. So I want to combine these two ideas and refine the merger as a new story.

That's right. One powerful new story, born of two.

There are a lot of ideas I want to use from both stories that I feel will be better combined into one. I think it will be something great that will stay true to the characters and compel readers. At least, that is my goal. Plus, it will give me a chance to use some new software I purchased for writing.

Long story short, do not think of this as a cancellation. Think of it as a revival. Hate did not push me to do this. This is a necessary step that I chose after careful thought.

I know a lot of people will be disappointed because they have come to enjoy the Dragon's Hero story so far. That means a lot to me, as it was my first story and it became my most popular. It will still be available for those who want to read and enjoy it, and I do not want to erase it simply because I consider it a lack of skill compared to others. Though I also hope all the fans of that one will support my new work when it finally begins. I am sure you will enjoy it for all the reasons you found something to love in Dragon's Hero and more.

Thank you all for taking the time to read this. Leave your thoughts in the reviews section as always.
