Epilogue
Darcy had always loved Bucky. As she looked back onto when they first met, she knew there was something different that drew her to him. Obviously, she was scared shitless when he threatened her life, but what else could he have done? He was trying to remember his past and didn't want to make a big deal about it. He had been too scared to talk to Steve and the rest of the Avengers and, at the time, he definitely was not a people person. But after he had met her, she saw that he had that cute and shy sort of personality that any girl wants in a guy. (Either that, or she had a serious case of Stockholm Syndrome)
Bucky had known from the beginning that he loved her, but he was scared to say it. If he did, would she had loved him back? Would she forgive him for every person he had killed? Did he even love her, or was he just trying to escape his own past? He didn't know and that's why he waited so long to tell her. But, once Bucky did, he felt that it was right. She was happy, outgoing, and could make everything in the world disappear. It was just him and her... Watching Star Wars, eating buffalo chicken dip, and snuggling under blankets.
When they officially started dating, Jarvis interrupted and yelled 'FINALLY!' (A.I.'s have feelings too)
When she went roller skating with the girls and ended up breaking her leg, Bucky took care of her and talked about his old life. He found that more and more memories were coming back to him the more he talked, and Darcy was there every step of the way.
Every night, he would wake up with a nightmare about someone he had killed. A little girl, a Representative from Spain, and J.F.K often haunted him. But, no matter how many times he said no, Darcy would crawl in bed with him and would stay awake till he fell back into a peaceful sleep. Eventually, she moved into his apartment and slept with him every night. His nightmares dwindled down and soon he found himself sleeping for a full eight hours.
Darcy soon started going to the gym and usually ran on the treadmill. One day, Bucky and Steve caught her singing 'Hips Don't Lie' by Shakira. The two men shook their heads and walked back to the meeting room. When she came in, covered in sweat, Bucky coughed and said,
"Well, I guess my hips don't lie." Bucky said. Darcy looked at him.
"Yeah, don't you see baby that this is perfection." Steve said. Oh Jesus Christ on a bike, that was a line from the song.
"Did you hear me-"
"Yes." Steve said. Bucky laughed.
"It was beautiful." He chuckled a bit more and couldn't stop.
"Very funny." She replied.
Pitch Perfect Two eventually came out and Darcy dragged him to a local theaters premiere. He actually found himself laughing through parts of it. A full, honest to goodness laugh. When Fat Amy fell down the stairs, Darcy through her popcorn on the ground and said,
"That woman is my spirit animal!"
Don't even get me started on when he got his haircut. Bucky had said he was going to spar with Steve in the gym, but secretly, the two went to an old barbershop and Bucky got quite a few inches of his hair cut off. Later that day, the Avengers all met up for pizza and drinks, and when Darcy walked in-
"PRAISE THE ALMIGHTY LORD JESUS!" She screamed. She got down on the ground and put her hands together like she was praying.
"You like?" He asked as he ran his metal hand through his hair.
"I love it! And I love you and all, but I'm sorry... Your hair was getting to your shoulders and it was really starting to bother me. Some days I would love your bird nest look, but it needed to get cut." He shook his head, smiled, and kissed her.
When Tony and Bruce created Ultron, Bucky fought with the Avengers as Darcy stayed at the tower. She called him once a day and often called the rest of the Avengers to make sure he wasn't lying about how he was doing. When they all came back home after Natasha went missing, and Vision lifted the hammer, she said-
"Holy shit!"
"That's a very interesting choice of words, Miss Darcy." Vision replied. She laughed and fell off of her chair. Wanda and Pietro looked at her weirdly, but the Avengers were used to her antics.
"Ok, ok, ok... Now, I'm either high on pot or Vision actually lifted mew mew!" She said. (Thor The Dark World reference)
"I'd prefer you not to be high on pot, Miss Darcy." Vision said. She laughed again. Bucky continued to look at the robot in awe.
"Well, cross that off of my bucket list." Bucky replied.
When Quicksilver died, Darcy stood by Wanda's side at his funeral and held her hand. Needless to say, the two became close friends. As time passed, Bucky was more at ease with the people around him. He would often go for walks and, eventually, he became an official member of the Avengers. Throughout every mission he went on, Darcy would always be back at the tower waiting for him.
One day, Bucky walked into a room where the Avengers were sitting... with magnets stuck to his arm.
"This is why I can't have nice things." He had said.
"At least it's only your arm." Vision said as he walked in with magnets stuck all over his body. (A.N. Got this idea from Instagram. I thought it would be funny to put in the story) Everyone looked at Darcy. She was eating a cheese stick.
"Hey, it's not my fault you're becoming a heavy sleeper-" She pointed to Bucky, "And you're made of metal. You had to have seen this coming." The two just shook their heads and slowly pulled every single magnet off of themselves.
The Avengers were a big, happy, and occasionally dysfunctional, family. *cough* *civil war* *cough*
So, when Bucky announced he was going to propose to Darcy, everyone helped him plan it. The Avengers waited on the opposite side of the door that lead to the room where Darcy and Bucky had first met. Bucky got down on one knee.
"Darcy Lewis, I have loved you since I first laid eyes on you. Will you do me the pleasure in becoming my wife?" Bucky asked.
Her answer?
Well, duh!
She said, yes!
It was love after all.
Congrats people I am making a sequel to this!
*Throws confetti everywhere* *Kicks balloons* The story is officially over and I hope you enjoyed this ending. I rewrote the epilogue three times because I couldn't decide on how I wanted it to end and I liked this the best. Now, I'm going to work on finishing some of my other stories before I make the sequel, but check back in to see if I published any new stories in the meantime. Love y'all!
