Man's Best Friend
Chapter 14
Kagami walked down the streets, a free man. No one gave him strange looks or even looked twice at him, and those who did was only because they probably recognized him from TV. There was a huge smile on his face as he stared at his brothers and sisters, mixing in with the humans like they belonged, which they did now.
"Ugh! Dammit! I'm running late!" Kagami cursed himself well he looked at a nearby clock in the window, running now instead of running.
He ran down the familiar paths of his neighborhood, into an apartment building and up the stairs two steps at a time. An old friend passed him by carrying boxes down for him, snorted loudly, "you're late."
"Shut up Aomine," Kagami growled running down the hall until the last apartment building.
"Tetsuya! I'm sorry I'm late, but I got the refreshments!" He called running into the room.
Kuroko placed the box he was carrying onto the middle of the room next to the other piles and leaned up, turning to look at the clock on the wall.
"You're late." He said.
"Well coach called and was asking about this season, and one thing led to another and-"
"Save it, Aomine and Kise are just about finished helping us load. These last few boxes couldn't fit so they're going to drop it off then come back for the rest and us. Better late than never though." Kuroko said walking over.
Kagami chuckled lightly as he held a sports drink out for him, Kuroko grabbing it and nodding his head in appreciation. He opened it and took a gulp; Kagami walking over to the counter and placing the rest of the drinks on it. He took his own and took a huge gulp from it, looking around the only home he's ever known.
"It's strange right? Seeing it so empty." Kuroko said lightly.
"Yeah, although it's a good thing that we're finally moving into a bigger place. It's been a fun three years though." Kagami chuckled.
"I didn't mind living here, after all you grew up here. I don't know, maybe I'm being sentimental." Kuroko mumbled lightly.
Kagami got a smirk on his face as he walked over, wrapping his arms around his waist as he leaned into his face.
"If want to get sentimental, I remember us screwing right here, on the carpet floor. Maybe we should relive that memory." He smirked.
Kuroko blinked and blushed, turning his head away as he jabbed Kagami in the ribs.
"Ah, Tetsuya, that was cruel." Kagami mumbled.
"There, there." Kuroko said rubbing his tiger ears.
Kagami purred lightly then leaned back up, frowning at Kuroko as he touched his ears.
"Stop that, I thought I told you only touch the ears when we're private." He pouted.
"We are in private."
"The doors wide open!"
Kuroko chuckled a little as he sat down in the blank and empty apartment's floor, patting the spot next to him. Kagami sat down beside him and Kuroko leaned into his shoulder, sighing lightly. The two of them stayed silent for a while, drinking their drinks as they looked around and remembered old memories of when they were younger.
"To think this all started by me seeing this tiny little tiger fast asleep in a cage." Kuroko sighed.
"I wasn't fast asleep, some idiot's voice was keeping me awake."
"Honestly Taiga, what made you come with me? You hated humans when you were younger, so what made you decide to come home with me?" Kuroko asked tilting his head back.
"I was tired of that cage and planned on sucking you dry until you got rid of me." Kagami laughed.
Kuroko frowned deeply, "really?"
"Yup... but you know, what really made me go was your scent... it was very soothing to me as a cub."
Kuroko smiled a little and tilted his head up, "I love you Taiga."
"I love you too Tetsuya, thank you for saving me."
"We saved each other, without you I'd still be alone and by myself."
"Well good thing we're together now, I won't ever let you feel that way again Tetsuya." Kagami said cupping his cheek.
Kuroko smiled lightly as he closed his eyes, Kagami leaned his face down to press their lips together. It was sweet and inviting, just like all their other kisses, it didn't last for very long though since someone started coughing while the other started laughing.
"Aw! Look at how cute the two of you are!" Kise cheered.
"Really? You couldn't have closed the door? I'm blind now." Aomine said rubbing his eyes.
"SHUT UP AOMINE!"
"I'm going to hurt you Kise." Kuroko said getting up.
"What? Remember I'm helping you Kuroko, are these the last boxes? Come on Aomine, let's hurry up and get them so we can leave these two to themselves again." Kise chuckled.
Aomine growled and walked over to grab a box, Kise doing the same and giggling as he winked at the two couple before leaving the room. Kuroko sighed and stood up, picking up a box.
"We should help too." He told him.
"Remind me to lock them out of our new home when we get there." Kagami growled doing the same.
"Don't worry Taiga, we can pick this up later when we're alone."
Kagami's face turned red as he dropped his box, Kuroko turning back and winking once before walking out the door. His Master was so surprising, even after so many years together. Kagami really was the luckiest pet in the world to have such a good friend like him... well, mate for right now and soon to be...
Kagami dug into his pocket and pulled out a ring, staring at it with a small smile on his face. As soon as they were all settled at their new home he was going to propose, it was the human thing to do to be together forever. Hopefully Kuroko wouldn't oppose so much on Kagami having a collar of his own on him.
"Taiga, what are you-"
Kagami quickly shoved the ring into his pocket and picked up his box, walking towards the door right when Kuroko walked back.
"-doing?" Kuroko finished.
"Moving, what do you think?" Kagami answered.
"We're trying to finish this by today, not in a year kitty cat. Hurry it up." Aomine snicked walking past him.
"SHUT UP!" Kagami yelled shoving past him.
Kagami blushed and growled as he climbed down the stairs, over towards the truck where he placed the box in. He took a deep breath and sighed out, hoping that the idiot and his master wouldn't stay for much longer after they finished moving. Kagami walked back up to their apartment for the last few boxed and noticed his two friends surrounding his mate.
"What's going on?"
Kise and Aomine stepped back revealing Kuroko standing in the middle of the room with a silver ring in his fingers. Kagami's eyes widened as he dug into his pockets, realizing the ring was no longer there. It must have fallen out when he was trying to hide it in a hurry.
"Ah-" Was all Kagami could say before Kuroko finally met him in the eyes and smiled.
"Yes."
