The south wing is a rarely trodden section of the Pizzeria for the animatronics. But one journey there starts the chase of a lifetime for Bonnie and the rest of the Fazbear animatronics…
Chapter Eight Freddy takes Bonnie aside to discuss the matter of the past, and discusses "the missing animatronics."

Chapter Eight: Of Plans and Pasts
⁂
Bonnie never thought that it would come to pass that he would be there, crawling inside the vents with Freddy Fazbear. He had hoped that he could travel with the ringmaster of the pizzeria, but after a week of shifting between Foxy and Chica being his travel mates (along with that new BB animatronic, of whom he had a great dislike), his hopes were plummeting.
However, that night, Freddy had instantaneously announced, "I have thought of something I need to test… I'll need Bonnie with me."
Chica and Foxy huffed at the fact that Freddy refused to tell them what was going on, but both wore naughty grins as they began their trail away from the group, BB trooping behind them and laughing once. Bonnie felt more than a pinch of anxiety for his friends: what would they be planning? Chica had been begging to make trouble for the other animatronics, especially Chicka, since day one, and Foxy was a prankster himself…
"Are you sure it's okay for the others to be on their own?" The rabbit had nervously asked.
Freddy chuckled quietly in response. "Don't worry, Bonnie, things should be just fine."
Right then, the sounds of joints and limbs against metal sounded. The pair was crawling around in the vents. A quick check of the cameras showed that they were going around the West Hall, slowly approaching the corner. According to the cameras, Foxy and Chica were doing something off in the Maze Room. The white distortion of Foxette was still located in Kid's Cove.
"I believe that BonBon and Freddie are patrolling the East Hall, down by the restroom," Freddy hissed, his tone slightly reassuring. "Chicka will probably pursue Chica… Ah, here we are."
Freddy stopped suddenly. Bonnie could hardly see a thing around Freddy's massive backside.
All of a sudden, a deafening bash of metal against metal sounded. Freddy suddenly disappeared from before him through a gap in the vents, landing with another crash into, Bonnie believed, the Office.
There were some quick rustling noises, followed by thumping and loud, industrial noises. After a moment, Freddy called up, "You can come down now, Bonnie."
Bonnie crawled up the the gaping hole where the grate had once stood. His mouth was wide open with shock. "What, just drop through?!" he exclaimed, unable to believe it.
"It's fine, the clutter broke my fall," Freddy responded patiently.
Bonnie gulped. This is a dumb idea… It was only because he trusted Freddy and wanted to see what the beat wanted to do with him that he turned himself around and fell feet-first into the room
The sound of a buzzing fan was very overpowering. When he got off of the desk, a small animatronic sound greeted him. Glancing at a filing cabinet nearby, he could see Sprinkles the Cupcake's beady magenta eyes following him.
The Office. It was very rare that Bonnie came in here when there wasn't an endo to be seen. "Why are we here?" he asked. He jumped off of the desk (he'd crushed a few old fast food cups as he'd landed).
Freddy, who was still standing by a very-shut left door, grinned toothily. "There is a lot of useful information in this office," he declared.
He punched a white button by the door, revealing BonBon and Freddie gazing in, looking furious. "…We can figure it out better without them crawling around us as well, can't we? The vent up there we can just fix up." With that, Freddy stood back up on top of the desk and jammed the metal thing he'd pushed out just a moment ago back in its spot. It was still dent beyond repair and flimsy, but when Freddy gave it a light punch, it didn't budge. "The Fazfriends aren't big enough to push that down if they don't work together," the bear said proudly.
Bonnie gazed up at the vent (he could tell that Freddy had exuded a considerable amount of force on it) and then nodded, albeit a bit shakily.
"We can learn a lot here, don't you agree, Bonnie?"
"Uh…"
Freddy motioned towards the filing cabinet with his ears.
Bonnie frowned. "Wha… what do you mean?"
"If we learn about the history of the pizzeria, we can learn more about what is happening, right?"
Actually, the rabbit couldn't see the link at all. Still, he awkwardly replied, "Err… right."
"I know quite a bit about the history here, actually," Freddy responded. "But there are some gaps in my knowledge that I know you'll be able to help me fill in."
Bonnie's frown grew as he absentmindedly stroked his red bowtie. So, it's like a mystery… One Freddy can't solve on his own?! "What makes you think I can help you? I'm not that smart, honest!"
Freddy phased out for a second, apparently checking the cameras. He punched the light and, surely enough, BonBon and Chicka were still there.
After he trotted to the other door, checked the light, and opened it, he smiled. "I think that you're cleverer than you give yourself credit for, Bonnie."
"Oh, ah…" Bonnie self-consciously checked his cameras and battery. He still had a considerable amount of the latter, and for the former, Chica and Foxy were still in the Prize Corner. Foxette was well on her way to the restrooms. "R-Right."
The sound of pounding on the other door got Bonnie to jump. He could hear Freddie he was so loudly shouting: "TRAITORS! BLOOMING, BLOODY COWARDS!"
"You remember that we didn't start in this restaurant, right?"
Bonnie thought back in between his fearful thoughts – what would Freddie do if he got in?! – but yes, he did remember. "Y-Yeah…"
To tell the total truth, his memory was pretty warped that far back. It'd been at least a decade since that time.
"Yep. This restaurant has opened, closed, reopened, and more in its long lifespan. I've been around since the very beginning." He adjusted his bowtie and slickly shut the right door. Punching the light button, it was evident that Chicka had joined the party. Bonnie had heard her joints, but didn't know it was her. He had wondered just how it had evaded Freddy's notice until he slammed it shut. "The first one you were in, Freddy's Pizza Pals, opened all the way back in 1982."
Alright, so he wasn't too far gone with his guess. Fifteen years ago. …Actually, he was, he realized. Five years off. It's irrelevant.
Freddy hadn't even really stopped as he continued. "Of course, fifteen years ago… our memories will be blurred. But I can tell that there are six animatronics. Doing the math, you, Chica, and Foxy were new back then. I was there. That leaves two more animatronics unaccounted for!"
The bear actually began pacing, his paws folded primly behind his back. He punched the light button on the left side. Freddie had stopped pounding the door and had taken to making enraged faces through the window. While Freddy cracked a small smile, Bonnie quivered. What would happen to the next group who encountered the orangey bear?
"I remember them like it was yesterday. One of them… he was called Yellow. Often he went by Golden Freddy. Now, he's the missing animatronic."
The purple rabbit glanced quickly between the terrifying shadow of Freddie and the ringmaster of the Fazbear emporium himself. When Freddy mentioned it, it felt like there was a huge lapse in Bonnie's memory.
"I've been looking for him for years and have never been fruitful."
Bonnie, still quivering with fright, frowned and gave his friend a sympathetic look. Like the incompetent thing he was, he had no idea what to say.
"So, what I was wondering was whether you had any leads on our friend. He's a yellow bear, about your size minus the ears. He wears a blue bowtie, and a blue hat." The description was hopeful, quick. It was as if Freddy expected Bonnie to be able to talk about him like an old friend. "Or any odd sensations? Do you ever feel like you're being watched?"
"No… Well, I do feel watched, but normally that's when the camera light is on."
Bonnie felt like kicking himself when Freddy drooped, sighing loudly. "I see."
He pushed the door-light and didn't even flinch when Freddie jumped up out of hiding and roared loudly enough to be heard.
Even though Bonnie felt a tinny squeak in the form of fear, he still broke out and said, in attempt to calm Freddy, "There were six animatronics?"
"Oh, yeah," Freddy said, his voice empty. "The four nowadays, Yellow, and another one. I've looked around for the two of them for years, but…" Freddy shook his head, trailing off.
Bonnie had never seen the jolly, smart animatronic in front of him so down-in-the-dumps and clueless about something. He briefly checked his camera to see, scarily, that Chica and Foxy were moving rapidly away from something; the white distortion in the camera moved when he refreshed it.
"We'll keep an eye out for them, Freddy."
The brown bear nodded. "We also… We should formulate a game plan."
Bonnie jumped from one particularly hard band against the window. Freddie's face was lit up as if from his shoulders, and ominously. His normally-blue eyes glowed red. "Wh-What kind?"
"To cope with the Fazfriends, of course," Freddy replied. "Once, we did know the Fazfriends. They replaced us before, but they weren't after us then. So this is moderately unprecedented. As per usual, we'll remain on separate teams, you and I. We need to continue checking the cameras, every so often I'll deign to observe and take notes on their behavior… This is random and hardly able to be predicted, ah?"
"What? They've roamed be-"
Another pound on the window sounded. Metallic thumping at an alarming rate sounded above them; no doubt BonBon was racing around up there. The metallic whirr of Foxette was coming from the vent as well.
"Alright, alright," Bonnie said, shaking his head. The sound of his servos rung in the back of his head. "I don't care, let's just get out!"
Another bash on the window happened. A crack finally appeared, small but present, in the scratched-up center. Freddie roared.
Bonnie was shivering and froze up. Freddy smiled and patted his shoulder reassuringly. "I guess we better get going then, ah?"
Practically a second later, demanding knocks on the air vent sounded. Growling was barely audible between the pounds.
Freddy pushed the door button and it opened. He grabbed Bonnie's purple paw in his brown and practically dragged the rabbit animatronic out. Behind them, Bonnie could clearly hear the sound of metal as a vent covering fell down, and as a deafening roar filled the building.
